Hawaii Five-0s season finale claimed one life and nearly took another.

As a dangerous batch of meth caused countless deaths across the island, the team is finally able to capture Gabriel (Christopher Sean), who eventually dies afterShiomas(MichelleKrusiec) thugs besiegeFive-0, preventing them from getting Gabriel to a hospital after he is shot.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How do you thinkMcGarrettsnear-death experience will change him?PETER M.LENKOV:When somebody has a near-death experience, they start to reflect on their life, and I think that hes going to do that. Hes going to look back and say, Whats my legacy here? I almost died, and what do I have? Ive lost my father, Ive lost my mother, Ive lost the woman that Ive loved. He just starts to reflect on everything, the choices that hes made and looks for a reason to continue doing what hes doing. Thats going to play a little bit of a theme next year.McGarrettmay be being a little more aware of his mortality, and also his legacy of what am I going to leave behind?

What does this do to Danny, knowing he was ready to kill McGarretts shooter?Hes got that temper where you believe that he could do something like that. I think Danny probably would have done before he had kids and before he got married. Somebody hurt his family, somebody hurt somebody thats very close to him, so it took every ounce of restraint to not shoot him. If Danny didnt have a family, he would have just put a bullet through that guys eyes. Hes been humanized by the fact that he has this son and a daughter and an ex-wife. We played Danny early on in his career where he was a little more hotheaded. Adulthood, or even fatherhood, changed him and made him a more wellrounded human being.

With McGarretts life in danger, did you consider bringing Catherine (Michelle Borth) back for the finale?I did. I really did, and here was my dilemma: I brought her back in the finale last season, and I didnt want to replay that moment of him laying on his deathbed and her coming in, because it would feel very similar to last year, even though it was not a life-and-death situation, it wasKonos(Grace Park) wedding. It just would have felt like similar territory. I want to bring her back in a different way than what we did last year. To be honest with you, she was in the first draft of the script I wrote, but I ended up taking her out, because it just felt very similar to last season.

Do you expect to bring her back next season?I hope so. Yeah, hope so. Ill be honest with you, if I knew it was going to be the last season this year, she would have definitely been in the show, but because I knew it wasnt, and it just felt wrong, now I have the luxury of another 25 stories at least, so I can do it in a different way.

Why did you decide to kill of Gabriel?It felt like the right thing to do. First of all, the audience was probably going to expect something big to happen with Gabriel in the last episode. I wanted to do something unexpected, and I wanted to start an arc next year with a new villain. Sean is great; it had nothing to do with anything but the fact that it had just felt like we had done everything we could with the character, and I just wanted to move on. Everyone is going to miss him the same way we missed Wo-Fat.

Do you have thoughts on who the new villain is going to be next year?Yeah. Somebody very unexpected, I think.

Shioma disappeared in the finale, but is she coming back? Is she part of the big bad situation next season?No, shes not part of that, but definitely we have to [address her] at some point,because shes definitely out there in the wind.

Chin (DanielDaeKim) is facing the possibility of becoming the father of Gabriels daughter. Will you explore that next season?Yeah, that will be a big arc next year for sure what he does, and does he end up fighting for adoption?

With Chin dealing with possible fatherhood, do you think hes on his way to proposing to Abby (Julie Benz)?We start the season, [and hes] living with her. Its going in that direction for sure. I want these people to be happy, because theyve become my family, too. And the same way withKonoand Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) getting out of prison. I do want these people to be happy.

Konomakes the point that Adam will get out of prison in four months. Will that happen when the show returns?What youve got to remember isMcGarrettsrecovering, so Im going to start the season with him coming out of the hospital, so its going to be less than four months.

But do you see Adam coming out by next season?Yeah, for sure. We love Ian, so we want him back.

In the wake of what happened toMcGarrett,Konosaid a few things that made me suspect shes considering leaving Five-0. Is that a possibility?The theme of next year is everybody is weighing the legacy or what theyre doing and the affect that it has on their lives.Konosgone through some amazing trauma and her husband was taken away from her. A lot of it stems from her job. She would have probably never had met Adam if it wasnt for her job. Shes in that place of reflecting the choices shes made as well, the same way that Chin is looking at, Do I adopt this girl? Do I change her life, which ultimately is going to change mine? You get to a point where you start weighing everything, and you put things in a plus and minus column, and you say, Is it worth it? Thats really where I want the characters to be, where theyre really weighing the good that theyre doing.

Max (MasiOka) is heading to Doctors Without Borders. What does that mean about his future on the show?Right now, in my head, Im planning on him still being out there doing that for the first couple episodes and have him come back a little wiser, maybe a little more mature, making some decisions about his future. Someone like that who works with dead people all the time, I think their personality doesnt grow. Hes going to come back slightly changed and energized by what he did.

What didWo-Fatsfather really want fromMcGarrett? It didnt seem like he was just looking for forgiveness.Yeah, good, okay. [Laughs.]

Were you aiming for that to be ambiguous?Yeah, Im glad. [Laughs.]Its going to be a part of a story next year. Its something bigger in mind, but I had to plant it in there at the end. Danny says, He called you all the way there just to forgive you? Youre going to realize its more than what happened in that meeting. Its not likeMcGarrettshiding anything, its more whatWo-Fatsfather has in mind.

Carding Sites Turn to the "Dark Cloud"

Crooks who peddle stolen credit cards on the Internet face aconstantchallenge: Keeping their shops online and reachable in the face of meddling from law enforcement officials, security firms, researchers and vigilantes. In this post, well examine a large collection of hacked computers around the worldthat currently serves as a criminal cloud hosting environment for a variety of cybercrime operations, from sending spam to hosting malicious software and stolen credit card shops.

I first became aware of this botnet, which Ive been referring to as the Dark Cloud for want of a better term, after hearing from Noah Dunker, director of security labs at Kansas City-based vendorRiskAnalytics. Dunker reached out after watching a Youtube video I posted that featured some existing and historic credit card fraud sites. He asked what I knew about one of the carding sites in the video: A fraud shop called Uncle Sam, whose home page pictures a pointing Uncle Sam saying I want YOU to swipe.

The Uncle Sam carding shop is one of a half-dozen that reside on a Dark Cloud criminal hosting environment.

I confessed that I knew little of this shop other than its existence, and asked why he was so interested in this particular crime store. Dunker showed me how the Uncle Sam card shop and at least four others were hosted by the same Dark Cloud, and how the system changed the Internet address of each Web site roughly every three minutes. The entire robot network, orbotnet, consisted of thousands of hacked home computers spread across virtually every time zone in the world, he said.

Dunker urged me not to take his word for it, but to check for myself the domain name server (DNS) settings of the Uncle Sam shop every few minutes. DNS acts as a kind of Internet white pages,by translatingWeb site names to numeric addresses that are easier for computers to navigate. The way this so-called fast-flux botnet works is that it automatically updates the DNS records of each site hosted in the Dark Cloud every few minutes, randomly shuffling the Internet address of every site on the network from one compromised machine to another in a bid to frustrate those who might try to take the sites offline.

Sure enough, a simple script was all it took to find a few dozen Internet addresses assigned to the Uncle Sam shop over just 20 minutes of running the script. When I let the DNS lookup script run overnight, it came back with more than 1,000 unique addresses to which the site had been moved during the 12 or so hours I let it run. According to Dunker, the vast majority of those Internet addresses (> 80 percent) tie back to home Internet connections in Ukraine, with the rest in Russia and Romania.

Mr. Bin, another carding shop hosting on the dark cloud service. A bin is the bank identification number or the first six digits on a card, and its mainly how fraudsters search for stolen cards.

Right now theres probably over 2,000 infected endpoints that are mostly broadband subscribers in Eastern Europe, enslaved as part of this botnet, Dunker said. Its a highly functional network, and it feels kind of like a black market version of Amazon Web Services. Some of the systems appear to be used for sending spam and some are for big dynamic scaled content delivery.

Dunker said that historic DNS records indicate that this botnet has been in operation for at least the past year, but that there are signs it was up and runningas early as Summer 2014.

Wayne Crowder, director of threat intelligence for RiskAnalytics, said the botnet appears to be a network structure set up to pushdifferent crimeware, including ransomware, click fraud tools, banking Trojans and spam.

Crowder said the Windows-based malware that powers the botnet assigns infected hosts different roles, depending on the victim machines strengths or weaknesses: More powerful systems might be used as DNS servers, while infected systems behind home routers may be infected with a reverse proxy, which lets the attackers control the system remotely.

Once its infected, it phones home and gets a role assigned to it, Crowder said.That may be to continue sending spam, host a reverse proxy, or run a DNS server. It kind of depends on what capabilities it has.

Indeed, this network does feel rather spammy. In my book Spam Nation, I detailed how the largest spam affiliate program on the planet at the time used a similar fast-flux network of compromised systems to host its network of pill sites that were being promoted in the junk email. Many of the domains used in those spam campaigns were two- and three-word domains that appeared to be randomly created for use in malware and spam distribution.

Were seeing two English words separated by a dash, Dunker said the hundreds of hostnames found on the dark cloud network that do not appear to be used for carding shops. Its a very spammy naming convention.

Its unclear whether this botnet is being used by more than one individual or group. The variety of crimeware campaigns that RiskAnalytics has tracked operated through the network suggests that it may be rented out to multiple different cybercrooks. Still, other clues suggests the whole thing may have been orchestrated by the same gang.

For example, nearly all of the carding sites hosted on the dark cloud network including Uncle Sam, Scrooge McDuck, Mr. Bin, Try2Swipe, Popeye, and Royaldumps share the same or very similar site designs. All of them say that customers can look up available cards for sale at the site, but that purchasing the cards requires first contacting the proprietor of the shops directly via instant message.

All six of these shops and only these six are advertised prominently on the cybercrime forum prvtzone[dot]su. It is unclear whether this forum is run or frequented by the people who run this botnet, but the forum does heavily steer members interested in carding toward these six carding services. Its unclear why, but Prvtzone has a Google Analytics tracking ID (UA-65055767) embedded in the HTML source of its page that may hold clues about the proprietors of this crime forum.

The dumps section of the cybercrime forum Prvtzone advertises all six of the carding domains found on the fast-flux network.

Dunker says hes convinced its one group that occasionally rents out the infrastructure to other criminals.

At this point, Im positive that theres one overarching organized crime operation driving this whole thing, Dunker said. But they do appear to be leasing parts of it out to others.

Dunker and Crowder say they hope to release an initial report on their findings about the botnet sometime next week, but that for now the rabbit hole appears to go quite deep with this crime machine. For instance, there areseveral sites hosted on the network that appear to be clones of real businesses selling expensive farm equipment in Europe, and multiple sites report that these are fake companies looking to scam the unwary.

There are a lot of questions that this research poses that wed like to be able to answer, Crowder said.

For now, Id invite anyone interested to feel free to contribute to the research. This text file contains a historic record of domains I found that are or were at one time tied to the 40 or so Internet addresses I found in my initial, brief DNS scans of this network. Heres a larger list of some 1,024 addresses that came up when I ran the scan for about 12 hours.

Former Navy corpsman reflects on Invictus Games victory

The Invictus Games wrapped up Thursday night in Orlando, and Team USA did not disappoint. The Americans dominated the medal podium, taking the most honors overall.

Discus and shot put thrower Max Rohn was among the champions, reclaiming his title from 2014 and winning two gold medals. The former Navy corpsman said the Invictus Games, an international competition for wounded service men and women started by Prince Harry, has meant "everything" to him.

"It"s kind of a celebration to a certain point in your recovery process. So this is like a finite point that you could look back on and just feel accomplished," Rohn said Friday on "CBS This Morning."

When Rohn was five months into his first tour in Iraq in 2009, a grenade struck his vehicle, and his right leg sustained serious injury. Doctors performed 14 surgeries to try to save it before Rohn requested a 15th to amputate.

Now he said losing his leg has made him a better person.

"One of my Marines says that, "It"s the best thing that ever happened to me." And that"s a difficult thing to hear at the beginning of the journey, but as you could see, it"s taken me to places that I would never go before," Rohn explained.

Yet, anger is a great motivator, he told "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King.

"For some things, especially shotput, it"s more of a grunt sport, so you get a little angry, and shotput goes a little farther," Rohn said.

He"s now training in hopes of making the 2016 Paralympics team.

"I will be 100 percent ready," Rohn said with a smile. "My competition is the best in the world. We have two of the best U.S. throwers, so I need to get up to their level, which I am at in practice. I just need to put it together for competition."

Invictus Games Orlando 2016 Celebrates Competitors with Electrifying Closing Ceremony

Invictus Games Gold Medalist Gives Medal Back to Prince Harry

The ceremony was also the final opportunity to cheer on the men and women who have exemplified the true meaning of Invictus. To start, each team paraded across the stage for the Medallion Ceremony.

The medallions, which were given to each competitor by the Invictus Games Foundation, were distributed by Prince Harry; Ken Fisher, Chairman of Invictus Games Orlando 2016; Dr. Jill Biden and Chairman of the Invictus Games Foundation, Sir Keith Mills. Competitors smiled from ear to ear, beaming with excitement as they took a lasting photograph with both Prince Harry and Dr. Jill Biden.

To celebrate four days of competition, world renowned musical artists took the stage to tell their Invictus stories through music. Jordan Smith, Season 9 winner of hit show, The Voice, performed Adele"s, "Set Fire to the Rain," and accompanied by a gospel choir, sang "Somebody to Love." Following Smith"s performance, the first nationally recognized wounded warrior band, Vetted, performed "No Man Left Behind." American Idol Season 11 winner, Phillip Philips performed, "Gone, Gone, Gone," among other songs.

In a touching tribute, actor Wilmer Valderrama presented the Jaguar Award for "Exceptional performance" to Sarah Rudder from the U.S. team for displaying true determination and grit from start to finish. WWE superstar John Cena then joined the stage to present the Land Rover "Above and Beyond" award to the Sitting Volleyball team from Georgia, who won a Bronze medal in the competition. The team was honored for their inspiring example of the Invictus spirit, as not only competitors but also as teammates. Following, international popstar Rachel Platten gave an inspiring performance.

Second Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden graced Champion Stadium to discuss her efforts to raise awareness about the sacrifices made by military families and to encourage 2016 competitors to never lose their Invictus spirit.

"All of you have the world behind you, and you are not alone," said Dr. Biden.

Following Dr. Biden"s moving remarks, U.S. Team Captain, Will Reynolds, received a standing ovation as he took the stage to reflect on his Invictus Games journey, encouraging millions to uncover their Invictus story.

"Our stories will memorialize all of our fortitude to come," said Reynolds. "However, it does not stop here. We must continue telling our stories so others can also have this life-changing experience."

On Sunday, May 8, 2016 during the Opening Ceremony, the U.S. Air Force Color Guard raised the Invictus Games Flag next to the flag of the United States. During the 2016 Invictus Games, the Invictus Games Flag served as a reminder that the servicemen and women competing in the Invictus Games Orlando 2016 are and remain unconquered. As the U.S. Air Force Color Guard lowered the flag during the Closing Ceremony, U.S. Captain Will Reynolds, Invictus Games Orlando 2016 Chairman, Ken Fisher and CEO, Vicky Gosling passed the flag to Canadian Team Captain, Bruno Guevremont and CEO of Invictus Games Toronto 2017, Michael Burns. Understanding the competitors would soon meet again in 2017, the crowd roared with applause as almost 500 men and women closed this chapter of their Invictus journey to prepare for a new chapter in Toronto.

Following the passing of the Invictus Games Flag, Prince Harry took the stage to resounding applause.

To bring the Ceremony to a close, artists Rascal Flatts and Flo Rida took the stage and gave stellar performances, which included Rascal Flatt"s***t single, "Life Is a Highway," and international hip-hop sensation Flo Rida"s "My House."The finale of the show included the explosive colors of a spectacular fireworks show while a video set to Rachel Platten"s, "Fight Song" played. "Fight Song" has become an anthem for this year"s competitors and their families.

The Dark Mirror: Zender"s Winterreise review Ian Bostridge is impeccable despite prosaic staging

As tenor Ian Bostridge has himself chronicled, his relationship with the most famous of all song cycles stretches back through his entire career as a singer. As well as performing Schuberts Die Winterreise many times in concert, he has sung it in stage dramatisations, and even written a book about his enduring fascination with it. Until now, though, Bostridge had not performed the most celebrated 20th-century reworking of the cycle, by the composer Hans Zender for tenor and ensemble, which over the last 20 years has established its own place in the repertoire.

For the Barbican performances of the Zender version in which Bostridge is partnered by the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Baldur Brnnimann there is a theatrical staging too, devised by director Netia Jones, but which proves to be more of a distraction than anything else. After Joness previous stagings of operas such as Oliver Knussens double bill and Unsuk Chins Alice in Wonderland, her treatment of Winterreise seems disappointingly prosaic and neutral. There are the predictable video images of figures wandering through snowy landscapes, and moody closeups of Bostridge as that conflicted traveller, while the singer himself is got up in evening dress, as if he has stepped straight out of a 1920s German expressionist film, or is the louche MC of a Weimar republic cabaret. The sense of the cycle as a musical and emotional journey is hardly suggested at all.

Certainly the visual commentary on the songs is nothing like as powerful and revealing as the musical one represented by Zenders reworking, with its pungent scoring from an ensemble that includes guitar, accordion and tuned percussion, realised with great presence by the Britten Sinfonia instrumentalists, so that Schuberts originals seem to be refracted through the whole subsequent history of German Lieder. At the centre of it, too, is Bostridges impeccably coloured performance, his articulation of every morsel of the text utterly lucid, even when, in Zenders version, it has to be spoken or delivered as Sprechgesang. His concept of what the cycle encompasses is projected as clearly as it always is.

"Castle," "Nashville" Canceled and No One Can Handle It: Reactions

Still cant believe it. Much to the dismay of TV enthusiasts everywhere, it was announced that beloved ABC shows Castle and Nashville were both canceled on Thursday, May 12.

ABC decided to close Castles doors for good following an eight-season run. The crime procedural starred Nathan Fillion as novelist Richard Castle and Stana Katic as detective Kate Beckett. The end of the series comes after Katic, 38, revealed in April that she would be leaving after season 8. As Us Weekly previously reported, she and Fillion, 45, had been feuding behind the scenes for years.

Nashville, which premiered in 2012, got the ax after four successful seasons on air. The drama told the story of two competing country starlets played by Connie Britton (Rayna James) and Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes). Incidentally, Panettiere, 26, announced on May 12 that she is checking into a treatment center for her ongoing battle with postpartum depression following the December 2014 birth of her daughter, Kaya, who she shares with fianc Wladimir Klitschko.
