The Chainsmokers - All We Know (Audio) ft. Phoebe Ryan
The Chainsmokers hit the American Music Awards stage for the first time Sunday night, performing their hit song "Closer" with Halsey and special guest drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182. The performance featured a crew of backup dancers, dramatic neon light graphics and an array of fireworks.
Drew Taggart and Alex Pall make up the "frat boy" DJ group that has risen to popularity in the last year. 2016 marks their first AMA nomination, and they scored a total of four noms, tying with Beyonce. They were nominated for new artist of the year, collaboration of the year, favorite duo or group pop/rock and favorite artist electronic dance music.
Twenty-two-year-old singer-songwriter Halsey also made her AMA performance debut. Halsey has seen a rapid two-year rise from unknown YouTuber to featured voice on one of 2016"s biggest songs.She recently told the tale of her success at the Billboard Touring Conference.
Other artists scheduled to perform are Justin Bieber, Niall Horan, Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar, James Bay, Fifth Harmony, Lady Gaga, Green Day, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, Twenty One Pilots, The Weeknd, special duets from The Chainsmokers and Halsey, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, and the American Music Award of Merit honoree and performer Sting.
The nominations for the fan-voted awards show, produced by d**k Clark Productions, were revealed earlier this month. Drake leads with a record 13 noms, while Rihanna has seven and Adele and Justin Bieber each have five. Beyonce and The Chainsmokersfollow closely behind with four andBryson Tiller, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood, Fetty Wap and the Weekndeach have three. Keep up with the latest winners here.
The 2016 American Music Awards show, airing on ABC, is executive produced by Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan, with Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco serving as producers.
