Actors will do almost anything to transform into the characters that they play: Orlando Bloom recently went platinum blond for a role, Lucy Hale maintained the same hair color for years of playing Aria Montgomery, and if youve seen Will Smith lately, youve most likely noticed the wispy stache thats been gracing his upper lip sans explanation. He shares your concern that this look might be a permanent one and he explained the reason behind it on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In an effort of clearing the caterpillar in the room, Kimmel asks Smith, Whats going on with that mustache? Is that on purpose or And Smith responds, explaining that its for a movie role, in which he plays a LAPD cop. Its really bad, its like the 1970s p***o [look], he laughs.
Unfortunately for Smith, he and Kimmel arent the only ones questioning the look his wife Jada isnt a fan of it either. She was like, Ill catch you on the next movie. Goodnight, honey, Smith jokes.
Its bad, man, cause you gotta wear it in the street, and everybody thinks Im like the Colt 45 [commercial] Billy Dee [Williams]. But Smith adds that while this might not be his personal best look, hes always open to trying something new for a role, drawing the line only if he is asked to recreate his 90s high-top fade haircut.

The actor isnt the only member of the Smith family trying something festive on his face lately. His 18-year-old son Jaden attended the 2016 Fashion Awards in London, wearing a very bold, jewel-encrusted set of grills.

10:38 a.m.
Defense attorney John Fuller questioning Richard Hernandez, a passenger in Will Smithcar who took off his shirt prior to the shooting, on cross examination. She asks Hernandez to tell the jury what it means "in New Orleans" when you take off your shirt on the street. Prosecutor Laura Rodrigue objects to the question, and Fuller says he"ll get back to that without getting an answer from Hernandez.
Hernandez testifies he drank one Grey Goose and vodka drink at Ruth"s ChrisSteak House, one at at Barcadia and one at Saki Cafe.
He answers Fuller that he is not sure how many drinks Will Smithhad that night.
"I don"t think anybody does," Fuller answers.
Not mentioned yet at trial: Records saytoxicology results showed Will Smith"s blood alcohol level as three times the legal limit at the time of the crash. Prosecutor Jason Napoli, however, acknowledged during opening statement that Will Smith had been drinking and driving. He noted the trial was not for a DWI for Will Smith, but a murder trial charging Hayes.
Fuller gets back to the shirt. He gets Hernandez to say that it"s not normal behavior to take of your shirt after getting involvedin a vehicle accident.
Fuller asked Hernandez if he said at the scenes, "I will f------ kill you, n-----."
Hernandez calmly answers, "I never said that."
Fuller asks Hernandez why witnesses say they heard Hernandez say that. Hernandez answershe didn"t know.
10:30 a.m.
Prosecutor Jason Napoli asks Richard Hernandez, a passenger in Will Smith"s Mercedes, why he took his shirt off.
"I felt therewas a fight about to happen," Hernandez answers. "I couldread his body language, the way he was looking at me," he said. Unclear if Hernandez referring to Kevin O"Neal, Hayes" passenger, or Hayes.
He said O"Neal swung at him so hard that O"Neal lost his balance. That"s when, he said, "my wife dragged me off."
He says he didn"t know Will Smith was shot until his wife told him. He did not see Will Smith get shot.
He said he heard Hayes say after the shooting, "Where"s the white boy." He testifiedhe thought to himself, "I"m next," so he left the scene. He said he"got in a taxi and left" without his wife because, "I feared for my life."
10:20 a.m.
Richard Hernandez, the front passenger in Will Smith"s Mercedes the night of theshooting, takes the stand.
He is the husband of previous witness, Rebecca Dooley, and was the man described by witnessat the scene and by his wife and Racquel Smith as the upset man who took off his shirt at the scene. She was the front passenger in Will Smith"s Mercedes, his wife testified.
Hernandez said he has two children and is a boatoperator.
Seating position in the Mercedes that night was: Will Smith in driver"s seat; Racquel Smith in back seat, on the driver"s side; Hernandez in front passengerseat; and Dooley in back seat, on the passenger side.
Hernandez said he did not think that the Mercedes made contact with the Hayes" Hummer prior to the crash when the Hummer hit the Mercedes.
10:11 a.m.
Prosecutor Laura Rodrigue, duringredirect questioning of Rebecca Dooley, a passenger in Will Smith"s Mercedes, asks her again to describe the shooting of Will Smith.
"I just seen his body jolt, and fall into the car," she said of Will Smith. Then Rodrigue asked to recall a"second round of shots."
In tears and with a broken voice, Dooley testified: "I just remember seeinghim walk toward Will and continueto shoot and Willwasn"t even moving."
Rodrigue also sought to have Dooley clarify why she and her husband hired an attorney. Dooley said she hired an attorney after she saw on the news defense attorney John Fuller allege that those in Will Smith"s group were the "aggressors."
Rodrigue asked her if she hired an attorney, also, because every one else at the scene had. Dooley confirmed that was another reason they hired an attorney.
9:53 a.m.
Rebecca Dooley, a passenger in Will Smith"s Mercedes the night he was killed, testified that her husband, Richard Hernandez, left the scene before police arrived while she was tending to Racquel Smith. "He did leave," she said.
She didn"t see the first shot, Dooley testified, but she heard it and heard who she thoughtwasRacquelsaysomeone was shooting. Then she turned and saw Hayes shooting at Smith near the Mercedes.
Dooley testified she heard Hayes say, "Where"s that white boy," and she worried for the safety of her and her husband.
Daniels points out that despite her statement that Will Smith was not aggressive, she testifies that she and Racquel were trying to calm down Will Smith.
9:39 a.m.
Defense attorney Jay Daniels, during a cross examination of Rebecca Dooley, asked if it was correct that she did not mention her husband, Richard Hernandez when she was questioned New Orleans Police Det.TindellMurdoch. Dooley says she can"t recall what she mentioned.
Dooley confirms her husband was the one who took off his shirt at the scene. Racquel Smithtestified Tuesday Hernandez had taken his shirt off and was jumping around, upset.
Daniels asks Dooley if she heard her husband say to Hayes, "I"m goin" to kill you,"and called hima racial epithet.She answers no.
Dooley repeats again that she thought the situation was "diffused"when Will Smith went back to his Mercedes.
Dooley asks Daniels her and her husband retained an attorney. She said yes, confirms it was MartinRegan.
9:10 a.m.
Rebecca Dooley, a passenger in Will Smith"s Mercedes SUV the night of the shooting, is on the stand. During questioning from prosecutor Laura Rodrigue, she is recounting that night with the Smith couple prior to the crash, shooting.
Dooley testified she heard Hayes and Will Smith arguing. She heardWill Smith say, "You did that on purpose." And Hayes answered, "You hit me first," Dooley said.
Rodrigue asked Dooley if she saw any "physical contact" between Will Smith and Hayes.
when will smith went back to his Mercedes -- the point at whichthe defense says he went to get a gun -- Dooley said she thought he might have gone to get his cell phone to call police. Dooleysaid she never saw him reach into the Mercedes. She agreed withRodrigue that at that point, "the situation had been diffused."
Dooley said she didn"t know right away that Racquel had been shot. When she heard Racquel crying for help, she went to assist her.

The courtroom gallery is almost filled out with threeminutes until the trial is expected to resume at 9 a.m.
DeuceMcAllister is back in the front row, as he was on Tuesday (Dec. 6). He is seated a few people down from Will Smith"s widow, Racquel Smith. McAllister was the first witness called by prosecutors.
Racquel Smith was the last witness of the day to testify. For the first time, she gave her account of what happened the night her husband was killed.
Also testifying Tuesday was New Orleans Police Department Det. Robert Bachelder, the first homicidedetective on the scene the night of the April 9 shooting.
AssistantDistrict AttorneyJason Napoli and Hayes" defense attorney Jay Daniels started the day Tuesday by giving opening statements. Napoli, along with Assistant District Attorney Laura Rodrigue questioned witnesses for the prosecution.

MTVs Generation Award is a lifetime achievement award and a thank you to stars in the film industry whose work has changed the game and opened doors for those coming up behind them. Winners have included Tom Cruise, Reese Witherspoon, and Johnny Depp, and now that Leo has an Oscar to keep him warm, its hard to think of movie stars who have achieved more with less reward than this years winner, Will Smith.
Smiths tribute started off with a tribute from The Lonely Island, who did a mash-up of Fresh Prince theme song, Men In Black, and Jiggyhonoring both Smiths comedy career and his hip-hop roots. Bringing a more personal touch was Queen Latifah, who thanked Smith for opening doors as the first hip-hop artist and for his humility as a friend and human being. Closing out the lovefest came Oscar winner Halle Berry, who highlighted Will Smiths work for diversity in Hollywood, and his history proving every stereotype about back artists in Hollywood wrong. Black actors cant play serious? Black actors cant open movies internationally? Black actors cant be romantic leads? Excuse me, have you seen Will Smith?
When MTV gave me this award, I thought this was an old dude award.
Displaying exactly the good-natured humor that made him a star, Smith wasnt above jokes even as he accepted his award, clowning about his age and how his son has stolen his cache with young people.

Smith started out as a rapper in the 1980s under Jazzy Jeff in Philadelphia, eventually gaining attention as the Fresh Princea persona that quickly outgrew Smiths hip-hop fame as NBC developed the classic series The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air around Smiths image. From Bel Air, it was a quick trip to Hollywood as Smith was offered the lead role in Bad Boys with another rising TV star, Martin Lawrence. The movies massive success also launched the supersized reign of Michael Bay, and made a rising star of West Phillys pride and joy, Will Smith. From Bad Boys came Independence Day, Men In Black, and Bad Boys II, and from the cool two billion in cold hard cash that those movies earned at the box office was born Will Smith, global superstar.
By now weve seen Will Smith fight robots, vampires, poverty, the NFL, and George Foreman. Hes one of the last real movie stars in the world, still opening films after thirty years in the business, his face a universal symbol for whats good at the movies and in humanity. And as much as Smith clowned about his age in his speech, he seems well aware of his meaning in the industry and to his audience.
Im dedicated to being a light in this world. I want to help people. I want to be a light. I want to play roles that have dignity. Theres so much suffering in this world, and I just want you to know I am dedicated til I die to light and to love.

That"s the first thing you need to know. The actors, who have been married for 17 years, were the subject of breakup rumors on Monday after a RadarOnline report claimed the pair had quietly worked out a $240 million deal to "split at the end of the summer."
The site Gossip Cop was quickly on the case, saying it just wasn"t true.
Of course, that didn"t stop the chatter, which seemed to grow as the day went on. It"s not the first time such a story about one of Hollywood"s highest-profile couples has surfaced, and here are a few reasons why we need it to stop:
Will Smith has better things to do than respond to your worries.
Smith hasn"t had the greatest luck at the box office in the past few years (we still aren"t over 2008"s "Seven Pounds"), and we need him to focus on getting back on track. He"s super-talented, and fans are looking forward to his upcoming projects, including "Suicide Squad" and "Bad Boys 3."
Having to jump on his Facebook page like he did Monday to say "I promise you all - if I ever decide to divorce my Queen - I SWEAR I"ll tell you myself!" is just a distraction.
There are children involved!
The couple are parents to teens Jaden and Willow (as well as Will"s son, Trey, from an earlier marriage), so let"s be sensitive to what these breakup rumors do to them.
Actually, we know what they do, as we could hear Willow laughing all the way from Twitter when she let it be known how ridiculous she thought the whole story had become.

We"d much rather talk about the actress" efforts to end human trafficking within the United States. This summer, she partnered with CNN to expose the billion-dollar industry of child s*x trafficking as part of the CNN Freedom Project.
There are other celebrity couples who are actually breaking up.
While folks were scouring the internet for details on a Smith breakup, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale as well as Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock were actually splitting.
Drake hasnt taken an L all week, and on Monday night that remained the same. After running through rehearsals with a Free Meek Mill shirt on, Drake decided to open up his annual OVO Fest Monday night with an electric performance of Back To Back. But thats not all, while performing the diss record, Drake added a nice touch and threw up some hilarious memes of Meek on the screens all throughout the venue, ultimately roasting the MMG rapper in the process (See pics here).
Well after the show, Drake, Kanye West, and Will Smith were all hanging out together backstage and apparently having a great laugh at the expense of Meek Mill and those memes. While its tough to see the actual picture theyre laughing about, rumors are circulating that it is indeed about Meek and the memes.
