Donna Brazile out at CNN as network bristles over Clinton debate collusion claims

WH tries to tell Americans Donna Brazile has integrity

ATLANTA, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- When political commentator Donna Brazile assumed interim leadership of the Democratic National Committee in July, she went from full-time to part-time contributor on CNN. Now, she won"t work for the network at all.

CNN said in a statement Monday that Brazile resigned from her role with the network on Oct. 14, three days after WikiLeaks published an email indicating she received a question for a March 13 Democratic primary town hall event in advance -- and passed it on to the Clinton camp.

CNN"s clarification followed more electronic communications published by WikiLeaks on Monday alleging Brazile did the same thing for another debate on March 6.

"On October 14th, CNN accepted Donna Brazile"s resignation as a CNN contributor," CNN spokeswoman Lauren Pratapas said. "CNN never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate.

"We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor."

Brazile responded on Twitter by saying, "Thank you CNN. Honored to be a Democratic Strategist and commentator on the network. Godspeed to all my former colleagues."

Regarding the debate questions, the acting DNC chairwoman on Monday pointed to a statement she made earlier this month after the first WikiLeak email was released that appeared to show she"d given the Clinton campaign the heads up on question about the Second Amendment.

"It"s sad to get undermined by CNN who didn"t ask me to appear yesterday on air. But, they released emails without giving anyone of us info," she said on Twitter Oct. 12.

"In good conscience, I called CNN to discuss this terrible episode. But the rush to distract has been too great," she said in another.

At that time, Brazile claimed that she had been fair to all Democratic candidates involved in the primary process and did not favor Clinton -- a claim substantiated by Bernie Sanders senior adviser Tad Devine.

"Donna Brazile reached out to me and the Bernie camp consistently during the primaries. She was fair and square with us," he tweeted on Oct. 12.

"Thanks Tad. Even if no one believes it now, I reached out to everyone, everyday and asked for advice and counsel during the primary," Brazile replied.

On Monday afternoon, Brazile tweeted a quote from Michelle Obama.

"When they go low, we go high!" she recited.

"Horrified" Jake Tapper Responds to WikiLeaks Emails That Expose Donna Brazile as Clinton Mole

Donna Brazile Can"t Handle Megyn Kelly

When WikiLeaks dumped the most recent batch of emails, a number of people were stung in their connection to the Clinton campaign.

Among them was former CNN commentator Donna Brazile, who is now serving as interim chair for the Democratic National Committee a post that was, ironically, vacated by Debbie Wasserman Schultz after she was stung in a similar document dump just before the convention.

Brazile was revealed to be Clinton"s mole at CNN, feeding information about attacks from the Sanders campaign during the primary. But another email suggested that Brazile may have even facilitated the Clinton campaign"s access to questions ahead of televised town hall meetings.

CNN"s Jake Tapper spoke to WMAL"s Larry O"Connor and Brian Wilson about his former colleague:

"Its a very, very troubling look, I have tremendous regard for Donna Brazile. Shes a good person and a nice person and I like her a lot but whatever took place here and I know I had nothing to do with it and I know CNN, we were so closely guarding our documents they werent emailed around.

My understanding is the email toDonna came from either Roland Martin or someone around Roland Martin."

Tapper also responded to the factthat questions were apparentlyleaked to the campaign. He confirmed that, at the town hall hosted by himself and Roland Martin, Hillary was asked a question that matched the one forwarded to her by Brazile almost word for word.:

Its horrifying. Journalistically its horrifying and Im sure it will have an impact onpartnering with this organization in the future and Im sure it will have and effect on Donna Brazile is no longer with CNN because shes with the DNC right now, but Im sure it will have some impact on Donna Brazille.

People at CNN take this very, very seriously and to have somebody who does not take it seriously and to have us partner with that person and then they do something completely unethical and share it with Donna Brazile who then shares it with the Clinton campaign its horrifying and very, very upsetting and I cant condemn it any more than

I condemn it in no uncertain terms, its awful."

Politico reported on Wednesday that Roland Martin submitted his question for the town hall meeting to CNN producers on the day of the broadcast. His wording, punctuation, and even spacing were identical to the email that was sent to the Clinton campaign by Brazile the day before.

And given the complex nature of the question, it"s not likely that it happened by accident:

19 states and the District of Columbia have banned the death penalty. 31 states, including Ohio, still have the death penalty. According to the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, since 1973, 156 people have been on death row and later set free. Since 1976, 1,414 people have been executed in the U.S. Thats 11% of Americans who were sentenced to die, but later exonerated and freed. Should Ohio and the 30 other states join the current list and abolish the death penalty?

Despite the obvious overlap, CNN insists that no one shared the questions prior to the event. Martin, who was representing TVOne, claims that not even his own producers knew what he was going to ask.
