Allardyce blasts Deadline Day scheduling

Liverpool vs Chelsea 1-1 All Goals & Extended Highlights Premier League 31/01/2017 HD
Crystal Palace created more space between themselves and the relegation zone with a deserved 2-0 win over Bournemouth. Crystal Palace created more space between themselves and the relegation zone with a deserved 2-0 win over Bournemouth. Sam Allardyce has no gripes with his team"s showing against Bournemouth, and blasts the January transfer window.

Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce believes having games on transfer deadline day is a huge distraction for players and managers.

The comments came after the Eagles" 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, with Allardyce securing three points for the first time since joining the club, but the ex-England manager was less than happy with how the fixtures had fallen.

Palace announced the signing of Luka Milivojevic on a three-and-a-half year deal after the final whistle but Allardyce had no idea what deals had been done during the game.

He said: "I think the hard bit is the distraction. I had a player asking me if he was up for sale so that is what you get when you get this G*d-forsaken window.

"You get players being told information which is not true. Sometimes it has some validity in it but sometimes when you have a big game like we did and a player asks this, that shows just how bad this window is and just how bad it is putting a game on the same day.

"Our job is hard enough but to make it even harder than it already is, I really don"t accept.

"I think there should be some sensibility about the way they pick the fixtures but yet again they will probably ignore us like they do all the time and just carry on in their own way."

He added: "[Milivojevic] is going to bring great ability in both feet, really good passer.

"He loves the sitting midfielder role and along with his ability, he will hopefully be as good as he can very quickly.

"There is no guarantee but I am looking forward to working with him."

Allardyce joined the Eagles in December following the departure of Alan Pardew but had failed to win any of his opening five league matches..

second-half goals from Scott Dann and Christian Benteke were enough to secure the visitors the three points at the Vitality Stadium, with the result keeping them two points behind 17th-placed Swansea.

Sam Allardyce is not impressed with the Premier League schedule: "Our job is hard enough!"

Allardyce said: "I think that win has been a long time coming for me. I think our work and efforts on and off the field are what our recovery is all about about.

"We have been asking the players to listen to slight changes to try and perform better.

"The game plan was played well today by the players and we were clinical in front of goal. We won comfortably in the end."

Bournemouth have failed to win a game in January and conceded at least two goals in six of their last seven home league fixtures and manager Eddie Howe believes his side need a confidence boost.

He said: "I believe in the squad. We are going through a difficult period, confidence levels have been knocked, the only way to improve is to work hard on the training ground.

"We had a lot of possession and we didn"t do a lot with it. You could tell the confidence was knocked, there were lots of backwards passes, we need to build on it.

"The results have not been what we want, that is the reality, the players are human."

Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea: Premier League as it happened

FIFA 17 CHALLENGE [#14] - PREMIER LEAGUE DRAFT!

78 min: Mark Clattenburg books Willian for some indiscretion or other. So, that penalty - sure, there was contact between Matip and Costa, but that doesnt mean its a penalty and Im not so sure it was a foul by the Liverpool defender. Costa was bearing down on goal and theatrically threw himself to the ground when Matip tried to stop him. Helpfully, BT Sport have former referee Howard Webb on hand to clear up this sort of confusion but havent actually bothered to ask him what he thinks.

Premier League hotlist: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eden Hazard, Yaya ...

PEP REACTION: HULL CITY 0-3 CITY | Premier League 2016-17

Who were the best Premier League players from the Boxing Day games? We take a look at the man-of-the-match performances in our hotlist.

Chelsea sit seven points clear at the top of the table after a club record-breaking 12th win in a row against Bournemouth, with second-placed Manchester City scoring three late goals to beat bottom side Hull.

Elsewhere, current Premier League champions Leicester suffered a 2-0 defeat to Everton at the King Power, while Old Trafford was the place to be to watch stunning goals.

Fabio Borini and Henrikh Mkhitaryan each scored Christmas crackers as Manchester United beat Sunderland 3-1.

But who were the stand-out players from each game? We take a look in the weekly premier league hotlist...

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic (MAN UTD3-1 Sunderland)

Despite registering two assists and a goal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic"s afternoon at Old Trafford on Boxing Day could have been even more fruitful.

He would have had a hat-trick but for Jordan Pickford"s saves, but the Swede has proved in recent weeks just how valuable he is to any United success this term.

After going six Premier League games without scoring in autumn, he has now scored eight in the last seven, with seven of those goals having a part to play in determining the matchresult.

He also made more key passes (five) than any other player, and won all of his aerial duels in the win over Sunderland, rightly earning the man-of-the-match award ahead of impressive performances from Antonio Valencia, Paul Pogba and Mkhitaryan.

    Tom Heaton (BURNLEY 1-0 Middlesbrough)

Burnley"s 20-point haul after 18 games represents a solid return to life in the Premier League for Sean Dyche"s men - and their captain Heaton has played a key role.

Such was the nature of the contest between last season"s top two in the Sky Bet Championship, Heaton didn"t have much to do, with both teams locked in a bruising contest at Turf Moor.

Despite this, the England goalkeeper was still at his impenetrable best, alert to Gaston Ramirez"s second-half header en route to a fourth clean sheet of the season.

He also played a part in the game"s decisive goal, with Sam Vokes flicking Heaton"s punt upfield into the path of Andre Gray, who volleyed home.

When compared to the performance of his opposite number Victor Valdes, who fumbled Gray"s winner into the back of the net, Heaton"s reliability means his stock continues to rise.

Dimitri Payet (Swansea 1-4 WEST HAM)

At the heart of everything good about West Ham in their 4-1 win at Swansea was the brilliance once againof Dimitri Payet.

The France international was superb from start to finish as he ran Swansea ragged, making a remarkable six key passes in the game. No other Hammers player made more than one.

Payet didn"t manage to get on the scoresheet despite West Ham netting four, and only actually contributed one assist, but it was the 29-year-old who instigated the majority of the Hammers" attacks, and when he is on this form, there is almost no stopping him.

Yaya Toure (Hull 0-3 MAN CITY)

The Ivorian has a happy habit of finding the net on Boxing Day.

He scored from the penalty spot - his third consecutive goal the day after Christmas - to get the ball rolling for City at the KCOM Stadium.

They had largely laboured up until that point, but Toure"s third Premier League goal of the season was the first of three Man City goals in the final 18 minutes.

The former Barcelona midfielder also had a hand in the visitors" third, capping another thoroughly impressive performance and drawing praise from Jamie Redknapp and Thierry Henry in the Sky Sports studio.

    Eden Hazard (CHELSEA 3-0 Bournemouth)

Hazard was brilliant against Bournemouth, continuously pulling off tricks and flicks, and showing off his blistering pace to hit the Cherries on the counter-attack along with Willian and Pedro.

He nabbed a much deserved goal after his skills proved too much for Simon Francis, who conceded a stonewall penalty after fouling the playmaker, andthe Belgiandispatched the spot-kick with coolness and class as Chelsea cruised to a club-record 12th straight Premier League victory.

It doesn"t look like much can stop the runaway train that is Hazard this season after a poor showing overall last term.

    Joel Robles (Leicester 0-2 EVERTON)

Everton"s goalkeeper was only starting against Leicesterdue to an injury picked up by Maarten Stekelenburg in the Merseyside derby. However, the Toffees did not miss their first-choice shot stopper.

Not only did the tall Spaniard keep a clean sheet at the King Power - a rarity of late for Ronald Koeman"s side - but he also created the visitors" crucial opening goal for Kevin Mirallas six minutes after half-time.

As a result, the 26-year-old became the 50th different "keeper to provide an assist in Premier League history.

Ben Foster (Arsenal 1-0 WEST BROM)

The Baggies No.1 produced a goalkeeping masterclass to keep Arsenal at bay for long periods.

After a quiet opening 45 minutes, the game burst into life just after the break with Arsenal laying siege to the West Brom goal.

Foster produced a fantastic double save to deny Alex Iwobi and Alexis Sanchez before having a running battle with the Chilean, who he denied twice more with some sharp work between the sticks.

When Olivier Giroud had a low drive booted clear by Foster with 13 minutes to go, it looked like it was to be West Brom"s day. However, Giroud looped a spectacular header home with four minutes to play to spoil Foster"s clean sheet.

Wilfried Zaha (Watford 1-1 CRYSTAL PALACE)

Zaha put in a performance that will have impressed his new manager, Sam Allardyce.

The winger was a constant threat to the Watford defence with his pace and direct running.

He could have even had a penalty late on when he was brought down by Miguel Britos, but Mark Clattenburg awarded a free-kick to Watford and brandished a yellow card for Zaha.

However, both Zaha and his manager were convinced the penalty should have been given and it did not take the gloss off what was a superb performance from the 24-year-old.
