'50 Shades of Grey' Only Features 20 Minutes of That s*x Stuff

If you were wondering just how much s*x would be featured in 50 Shades of Grey, wonder no more: only 20 minutes of the films 100-minute runtime is comprised of s*x. That might be a deal-breaker for some of you, who were hoping for a non-stop, tone-deaf fiesta of sexyou know, kind of like that horrible novel on which the film is based. What are you going to do with that other 80 minutes?

A new report from The Sunday Times reveals that 50 Shades of Grey is only 20% s*x. Thats 20 out of 100 minutes. That leaves you with 80 minutes to keep your self/mom/aunt/morbidly curious friend occupied. Here are some ideas to soothe your boredom while Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson glare at each other and say things like I dont do relationships or What are you doing to me? or Hey girl check out my sweet helicopter:

  • Make many trips to the concession stand, obviously. Worried of running out of reasons for your mid-movie excursions? Bring a very large purse. Fill said purse with the contents from a large bucket of popcorn. Return to concession stand for free refill. Repeat many times. If you are concerned about your surplus of popcorn, be the nice person who shares with the rest of the people in the theater. Youll make some new friends.
  • During one of your trips to the concession stand, ask the concessions worker to make you a suicide. If they dont know what that is, explain it to them. This should take up at least five minutes.
  • Give into that typically-ignored urge to go to the bathroom. You wont miss anything. Just make sure not to leave the theater until immediately after a s*x scene ends, thus ensuring you will not miss the next one. I assume they are spaced out.
  • Exit the theater every 10 minutes to call various relatives, friends, life partners, et al. and explain to them what you have chosen to do with your life for 100 minutes that day.
  • Bring some knitting.
  • If you are at a theater that serves alcohol, bring a list of things you think will happen often in the film so you can play a drinking game. Drink when: Dakota Johnson bites her lip, someone says red room of pain, someone calls Christian Mr. Grey, anytime a white person is on screen. Youll be wasted in no time. Boredom solved.
  • Exit theater. Go to box office. Purchase a ticket to see anything else. Enjoy.
  • These are obviously just suggestions, but lets be real: were all going to see this movie for one reason and one reason only (okay, Jamie Dornan is in it, so thats two): to see just how wild this s*x gets and just how they managed to make a film based on such a dumb, horribly-written book. They did it with Twilight. Five times, if memory serves.

50 Shades of Grey hits theaters on February 13.

    Solar Stocks Sunbathe on Friday

Ever since the stock market correction began on September 22, the solar panel sector has been struggling. It was not until this week when solar stocks finally made some progress toward returning to their respective, 50-day moving averages. On Friday, SolarCity (NASDAQ:SCTY) closed above its 50-day moving average for the first time since September 12, after jumping 2.65 percent to $55.05. The Guggenheim Solar ETF (NYSEARCA:TAN) ended the week just 26 cents below its own 50-day line, when it soared 2.77 percent to $37.89. SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR) surged 1.10 percent to $29.41. Canadian Solar (NASDAQ:CSIQ) climbed 0.69 percent to $27.57. First Solar (NASDAQ:FLSR) advanced 0.67 percent to $49.76. Vivint Solar (NYSEARCA:VSLR) surged 1.12 percent to $10.87.

The ugliness which has been taking place in the 3D printing sector cannot be fully appreciated, until you compare the prices for these stocks with what their prices were a year ago. Yesterday, I discussed what I wrote about the sector at this point last year. In last years piece, I suggested that buying shares of Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) presented a safer means for investing in the 3D printing sector (while disclosing that I was a shareholder). I made a point of emphasizing Autodesks share price had increased 29 percent since last year. (Yes, Im still a shareholder.) On Friday, Autodesk shares soared 6.06 percent to $61.95, as a result of several analysts upgrades.

As I discuss each 3D printing stock, I will include its closing price from November 21, 2013. Shares for 3D Systems (NYSEARCA:DDD) dropped 0.87 percent to $35.15 (last year: $73.30). Stratasys (NASDAQ:SSYS) advanced 0.46 percent to $102.42 (last year: $116.97). ExOne (NASDAQ:XONE) rose 0.05 percent to $21.15 (last year: $53.52). Voxeljet (NYSEARCA:VJET) plunged 5.59 percent to $11.32 (last year: $35.86). 3D bioprinting company, Organovo (NYSE MKT:ONVO) sank 3.96 percent to $6.31 (last year: $9.15).

The four major biotech ETFs had another sober session of making reasonable, non-manic advances. The Market Vectors Biotech ETF (NYSEARCA:BBH) rose 0.15 percent to $114.53. The First Trust NYSEARCA Biotechnology Index ETF (NYSEARCA:FBT) climbed 0.65 percent to $99.20. The iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology Index ETF (NYSEARCA:IBB) advanced 0.34 percent to $295.01. The ever-volatile, SPDR S&P Biotech Index ETF (NYSEARCA:XBI) surged 0.85 percent to $174.04.

The major ETFs expected to respond to developments in the technology sector are:

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF(NYSEARCA:XLK): +0.14%

Vanguard Information Technology Index ETF (NYSEARCA:VGT): +0.24%

iShares Dow Jones U.S. Technology Sector Index ETF (NYSEARCA:IYW): +0.23%

Market Vectors Semiconductor ETF (NYSEARCA:SMH): +0.58%

iShares PHLX SOXX Semiconductor Sector ETF (NASDAQ:SOXX): +1.10%

    SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (NYSEARCA:XSD): +0.90%

The last word: Friday brought us A Tale of Two Momentum Sectors: It was the best of times for solar stocks and it was the worst of times for 3D printing stocks most of which were trading at a mere fraction of last years prices.

Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz test positive for banned substances

    Updated FEB 04, 2015 1:44a ET

UFC 183 was supposed to go down as one of the biggest nights of the year with the return of former pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz, but now Silva's victory has been marred following positive drug tests for both fighters from the main event.

The UFC said it was informed on Tuesday that Silva tested positive for Drostanolone metabolites in a pre-fight drug test administered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Jan. 9. The commission also said it had found traces of another banned substance,Androstane, in Silva's system. His post-fight tests reportedly have yet to be returned.

Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites in a post-fight drug test. The UFC confirmed it had been notified of that in astatement Tuesday.

"UFCs understanding is that further testing will be conducted by the Commission to confirm these preliminary results," the UFC said in a separate statement regarding Silva's positive test. "Anderson Silva has been an amazing champion and a true ambassador of the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC, in Brazil as well as around the world. UFC is disappointed to learn of these initial results.

"The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by its athletes."

News of the positive test results was first reported by Yahoo!.

Commission chairman Francisco Aguilar had no explanation for why he did not receive the Jan. 9 test result sooner, but told Yahoo "I would have had no problem calling the fight."

This is the first time in an MMA career that spans nearly 18 years and 40 fights that Silva has tested positive for any banned substances. The commission will meet next on Feb. 17 and likely hand down a temporary suspension against Silva until a full hearing can be held at a later date. The commission also has the right to overturn Silva's win to a no-contest if the motion is passed at a discipinary hearing that will likely be held in March or April.

As for Diaz, this is the third time he has tested positive for marijuana during his career. The first time happened when Diaz fought Takanori Gomi in PRIDE back in 2007, and he received a six-month suspension. Diaz tested positive again following his welterweight title fight against Carlos Condit in 2012 and was handed a one-year suspension for the second offense.

This third result likely will land Diaz in hot water again, considering it's the same drug he's been busted for in the past, and considering that the Nevada State Athletic Commission recently raised the legal limits for athletes in regards to marijuana, and Diaz still tested positive.

The new legal limit is 150 ng/mL, which is the same standard set forth by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and triple the testing threshold that existed when Diaz tested positive the first two times.

Berkeley's Measles Ultimatum: 21-Day Quarantine For Unvaccinated Kids If ...

    CBS SF Bay (con't)

    Affordable Care Act Updates: CBSSanFrancisco.com/ACA

    Health News & Information: CBSSanFrancisco.com/Health

BERKELEY (KPIX 5) With the measles outbreak spreading fast, Berkeley has issued an ultimatum for parents who refuse to vaccinate their children.

The citys public health department is recommending a 21-day quarantine for all unvaccinated children, at local schools where there is a measles outbreak.

    MEASLES OUTBREAK:

Its an absolutely standard public health practice and public health recommendation, said Berkeley public health officer Dr. Janet Berreman.

Berreman said its a practice that is now desperately needed. In the last month alone, there have been 91 new measles cases in California.

And the more cases there are, the more likely it is that there will be one in Berkeley, Berreman said.

When asked how the city would ensure children would stay home, Berreman said, There are legal teeth in that we can issue formal orders. We usually dont have to go to that point, but we certainly can and we certainly have.

Jere Brillman, whose daughter attends a Berkeley school is thrilled by the recommendation. They shouldnt even let kids in school that arent vaccinated, Brillman told KPIX 5.

As of Monday night, there are six cases of measles in Alameda County, two in Marin County, two in San Mateo County, two in Santa Clara County and one case in Solano County.

Nissan Rejects US Government Offer To Mediate Mississippi UAW Row

Thomson ReutersA woman walking past Nissan Motor Co.'s GT-R is reflected on the company logo of a vehicle at its showroom in YokohamaBy Bernie Woodall

DETROIT (Reuters) - Nissan Motor Co has rejected a U.S. State Department offer to mediate a dispute between the company and the United Auto Workers over claims of anti-union practices as the UAW tries to organize workers in Mississippi.

The UAW was joined by the umbrella labor group IndustriALL Global Union Federation last April in asking the State Department for its help.

Even as the mediation would have been non-binding, the UAW's effort to include a global union group and the State Department is part of its ongoing campaign to turn public opinion against Nissan for what it claims are violations of workers' rights.

The State Department said in a statement its role had ended because "a voluntary mediation process could not be established since Nissan was not willing to participate," with the State Department's National Contact Point (NCP), which works to further the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development's guidelines in the United States.

"The NCP regrets Nissan's unwillingness to participate in the process," the statement, dated Jan. 30, said.

The UAW has been trying for more than a decade to organize the Nissan plant near Jackson, and has said Nissan is using "threats, intimidation and fear" to keep the union out of the plant, which it says violate OECD guidelines.

On Monday afternoon, a Nissan spokesman said by email that the company declined to participate in the mediation "because long-established guidelines for bringing a union vote already exist," and are set by the U.S. National Labor Relations Board.

"Nissan respects labor laws in every nation where it operates and works to ensure that all employees are aware of these laws," the statement said, adding that all Nissan workers have the ability to decide whether they want to be in a union.

The State Department's NCP also has no power to judge disputes that it is asked to mediate.

There are between 6,000 and 6,300 employees, including full-time Nissan and contract workers, at the plant in Canton, Mississippi.

Nissan has an alliance incorporated in the Netherlands with French-based Renault SA . Renault owns 43.4 percent of Nissan.

The UAW said it may file objections to Nissan's behavior in Mississippi with OECD liaisons with governments in Japan, France and the Netherlands.

Hollywood greets Groundhog Day with race into ocean, year after year

Pennsylania's Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow on Gobbler's k**b Monday only to see his shadow.

As the legend goes, that means six more weeks of winter for Phil and his friends.

"And six more weeks of tourism for us," said Jeff Hansen, organizer of the annual Groundhog Day ocean plunge off Hollywood beach. In its 11th year, the event typically draws a hearty bunch of swimmers and an equally gung-ho crew of curious onlookers.

    Monday was no different.

More than 70 brave souls raced into the surf, hooting and hollering as waves slapped against their limbs. They made their mad dash for the ocean at 7:25 a.m., the same time Pennsylania's famous groundhog emerged from his burrow on Gobbler's k**b to make his seasonal prediction.

"I'm well-versed in the tradition of Punxsutawney Phil," said Don Spearance, a first-time participant in Hollywood's Groundhog Day ocean plunge. A native of Massachusetts, Spearance said his friends talked him into it, despite it being the day after Super Bowl Sunday.

Hansen, a Dania Beach resident with a home in Punxsutawney, billed the charity event as a hangover cure.

"For a Monday after the Super Bowl, I'm happy with the turnout," Hansen said.

Participants, some in top hat and coat to mimic the formal attire donned by Punxsutawney officials, paid $12 apiece for breakfast at the Ocean Alley Restaurant and Bar at Indiana Street and the Broadwalk.

Those who dared to duck into the ocean were bestowed with souvenir T-shirts. Some had photos taken with Hollywood's version of Punxsutawney Phil, a 6-foot-4 former lifeguard, also known as Wayne Snellgrove when he's not in character.

Monday's forecast for Hollywood called for a low of 61 degrees and a high of 80, according to the National Weather Service. That's a far cry from Punxsutawney, where forecasters predicted a high near 32 and a wind chill factor as low as minus 5.

"I'm not going to do a polar plunge back home," Spearance said after emerging from the relatively benevolent 72-degree ocean. "They're getting a foot of snow. Schools are closed. Roads are closed. They are in a state of emergency."

Spearance and wife Jan, both retired teachers, plan to stay in South Florida until the end of May.

Jan Spearance described the water as "pleasantly refreshing," so unlike the winter waters off Cape Cod.

She wants to give it a go again next year.

"I think we're going to make it an annual tradition," she said of Hollywood's Groundhog Day swim.

Denise Snyder, a friend from Chicago, looked up at the sky and wondered whether the grey clouds meant rain.

"Well I don't see any sign of snow!" Jan said, getting a chuckle from the group. "There's no bad day down here. It's a perfect Groundhog Day."

That sounds good to Hansen, who says many of the event's participants are repeat customers who return year after year.

Proceeds from the event go to Hollywood's Lifeguard Competition Team, Hansen said.
