Willow Shields joins 'Dancing with Stars'

Mike Hughes 12:02 a.m. PDT March 16, 2015

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE: "Dancing With the Stars" opener, 8-10:01 p.m., ABC. OK, many of these people aren't really stars; they are, however, a varied bunch. They range in age from 14 (Willow Shields, the "Hunger Games" sister) to 68 (Suzanne Somers) and 70 (Patti LaBelle). There are athletes: Michael Sam was the first openly gay pro-football draftee; Nastia Liukin is an Olympic gold-medal gymnast, paired with frequent winner Derek Hough. There's also a farmer (Chris Soules, fresh from "The Bachelor"), a wounded Iraq veteran (Noah Galloway) and a "Shark Tank" investor (Robert Herjavec), plus Rumer Willis, Riker Lynch, Charlotte McKinney and Redfoo.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE II: "The Big Bang Theory," 8 p.m., CBS. For comedy fans, the bad news is that basketball is taking over the next two Thursdays. That leaves "Big Bang" plus "Odd Couple" and "Mom" temporarily homeless. The good news is that "Big Bang" gets a Monday spot tonight, for a funny rerun. The guys consider investing in the comic-book store, after it's gutted by fire; also, Raj's girlfriend is cold to Penny.

TONIGHT'S ALTERNATIVE: "The Returned," 10:01 p.m., A&E. Quietly compelling, this drama catches the way people might really react understated, maybe unstated when the impossible happens. In the opener, Camille calmly walked home, unaware that she had died; she's still 15, her twin sister is now 19. There was much more, including a murder; now the probe turns to Simon ... who's not aware he died six years ago. This sounds goofy, but it's done with a solid sense of what normal people might do in a paranormal situation; like the French mini-series it's based on, "Returned" is thoroughly involving.

Other choices:

"Jamaica Inn," any time, acorn.tv. With their gothic mood, Daphne du Maurier's stories were a favorite of Alfred Hitchcock. He made two into successful films ("Rebecca," "The Birds"), but stumbled with "Inn." Now it's a British mini-series that reaches the U.S. over the next three Mondays. Jessica Brown Findlay (Sybil in "Downton Abbey") plays a penniless beauty who finds dark deeds in her aunt's inn. The performances and visuals are splendid, but the story is grim and predictable.

"The Voice," 8-10:01 p.m., NBC. The "battle rounds" continue through Tuesday, with the possibility of stealing members of other teams. Next week brings the "knockout round."

"Gotham," 8 p.m., Fox. In a rerun from November, assassins attack Wayne Manor. Bruce and Selena (the future Batman and Catwoman) are on the run.

"The Following," 9 p.m., Fox. Last week, Ryan's FBI boss was kidnapped and brutally killed. Enraged, Ryan makes a risky move.

"Bates Motel," 9 p.m., A&E. "Unhinged women seem drawn to you," Norma Bates tells her son. She soon shows signs of being the least-hinged of all. Obsessed with the disappearance of a gorgeous prostitute whom Norman knew, Norma seems increasingly (an interestingly) berserk.

"Strange Inheritance," 9 and 9:30 p.m., Fox Business Network. While other small towns lose movie theaters, Berwick a Pennsylvania borough of 11,000 has clung to its theater. Inheriting it from her grandfather (who had it for 40 years), the new owner says it has no profits and great importance.

"Castle," 10:01 p.m., ABC. A relentless Hong Kong detective helps probe a New York case. Soon, however, Castle suspects that many of the people aren't who they claim to be.

Cheyenne Jackson True Personality. He Is Shy, Funny And Animal Lover

Cheyenne Jackson. Photo attribution Karl Simone Photography. SLATE PR

Actor Cheyenne Jackson is sexy, everybody knows it, but he is also shy, animal lover, funny, sincere, familiar, concerned, and a little nervous. Today, listen to him!

Inspirational quotes by Cheyenne Jackson:

Shy: I dont like to watch myself. I cant get into the story; Im too critical.

Animal lover: I think having a dog makes you more compassionate.

Funny: Im a New Yorker; my oven is used for storage.

Sincere: Id love for people to accept me just as me, but I know that I generate a strong response; I always have my name, my looks, my size.

Familiar: Believe it or not, my best meal is to go to the store and buy a DiGiorno pizza, come home, add some fresh Parmesan cheese, and just hang with my family!

Concerned: The devastating repercussions of hate-filled language manifest in very real ways for todays LGBTQ youth.

A little nervous: Unfortunately, I suffer from insomnia, so my bedtime is as soon as I start to feel the least bit sleepy.

An above all, a great actor: I always wanted to be on a great TV show and in a Broadway show and have a CD out, and the fact that they happened simultaneously is kind of an embarrassment of riches.

** Cheyenne Jackson is an American actor and singer-songwriter. He has starred in Broadway musicals and other theatre roles, film and TV shows, concert singing and music recordings. Now, he has just joint American Horror Story cast. Great!

'Dancing With the Stars' premiere: Ranking the contestants from Rumer Willis ...

Dancing With the Stars, once the most popular show in the country, has slipped over recent years and its trying to regain some street cred in Season 20 (seriously, SEASON 20) with a special 10-year anniversary season. Its got fancy opening credits and a golden Mirror Ball Trophy and, if you can believe it, even more sparkles.

Granted, this season doesnt quite have the, um, name recognition of former years. Still, heres our ranking of the contestants in the season premiere (which ended with a shot of smiling exes Bruce Willis and Demi Moore sitting in separate rows!) and in order of how we think theyll fare this season:

['Dancing With the Stars' picks new crop for Season 20]

RANK: 1

Rumer Willis/Val Chmerkovskiy (fox trot, judge score: 8, 8, 8, 8 for a total of 32 points)Occupation: ActressAge: 26Best known for: Being the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore and one-time stepdaughter of Ashton Kutcher.Storyline: Can everyone stop thinking of her as just a kid with famous parents? Seeing as Val asks for her dads autograph within minutes, probably not.Performance:Not only did Rumer get the coveted closing performance spot, but the judges are blown away by the intensity of the pair. (Who, to be fair, already know each other through mutual friends.) That was incredible! Carrie AnnInabayelled. You are in it to win it! Len Goodman agrees and calls it the dance of the night: Sometimes it was intense, other times it was quiet Val, this could be your season. Julianne Hough says she got chills and calls them a vision and says theyre the ones to watch.

RANK: 2

Nastia Liukin/Derek Hough (fox trot, judge score: 7, 7, 8, 8 for a total of 31 points)Occupation:GymnastAge:25Best known for:Winning five medals at the 2008 OlympicGamesStoryline:Shes already feeling competitive with rival Shawn Johnson, who danced with Derek in the all-star season and almost won. Nastia isnt here to make friends shes here for that tacky gold Mirror Ball Trophy.Performance:Carrie Ann chides him for a lift, saying Derek should know better, while Len is lukewarm as well. Julianne sticks up for her brother by saying it was an explosive first dance, but also critiques Nastias form. Not great feedback for Derek, a five-time winner of the show. Guess they have to keep him humble.

RANK: 3

Noah Galloway/Sharna Burgess (cha cha, judge score: 7, 6, 6, 7 for a total of 26 points)Occupation:Combat veteran with U.S. ArmyAge:33Best known for:A double amputee (helost his leftlegand left arm after being hit with a roadside bomb in Iraq), hesa motivational speaker and personal trainer who was just on the cover of Mens Health.Storyline:Noah is worried about the challenge of dancing without one of knees. He tells Sharna, What Im lacking in limbs, Ill make up for in determination and hard work. Later, he gets emotional in his intro video. I dont want to just do well as the guy missing an arm and a leg. I expect more. And thats where Im struggling with it, he says to the camera.Performance:It tooka solid minute for the screams and applause from the audience to die down. You are a titan among men, Bruno Tonioli says. You have a presence that is unique your feel for the music is like any of the dancers. Work with that and youre going to astonish even more.Julianne compliments Sharna on the creative choreography, because when the man leads, its usually with the left arm. Carrie Ann cant get through her remarks without crying: That was truly inspiring.

RANK: 4

Riker Lynch/Allison Holker (jive, judge score: 8, 8, 7, 8 for a total of 31 points)Occupation:Actor and singerAge:23Best known for:Hed probably want you to say his band R5, but more likely its from his few seasons on Glee.Storyline:Can Riker overcome being virtually unknown by adults and capture the tween vote? And does he have an unfair advantage because hes second cousins with Derek and Julianne Hough?!Performance:THE ROCKET ROCKER! Brunoroars at him, unable to contain his excitement and jumping up on the desk. Youve got the coolest vibe Ive seen since I saw my friend Billy Idol. You are cool, hip, your timing is immaculate. Carrie Ann tries to calm everyone down by saying she wouldnt call the dance graceful, but it sure was fun to watch. Len goes with lots of energy, though warns him that he better refine his moves for next weeks fox trot.

RANK: 5

Michael Sam/Peta Murgatroyd (cha cha, judge score: 6, 6, 7, 7, for a total of 26 points)Occupation:Football playerAge:25Best known for:Being the first openly gay athlete to be drafted by the NFL.Storyline:Michael was cut by the St. Louis Rams and is currently a free agent; he says Dancing With the Stars is a way for him to get in the best shape of his life before the NFL combine in a few weeks. He also wants to silence his haters.Performance:Bruno calls it very well-done, while Julianne zeroes in on his feet: They were a little sloppy. Boos from the crowd. But wait! Julianne thinks he has a great vibe. Len thinks the dancing was excellent but your footwork is atrocious. Carrie Ann tries to make him feel better: You are a beautiful, gorgeous man and you have an incredible body. She agrees about the feet, and tells him to drop the fake smile.

RANK: 6

Suzanne Somers/Tony Dovolani (cha cha, judge score: 6, 6, 6,7for a total of 25 points)Occupation:ActressAge:68Best known for:Threes Company, those Thighmaster infomercials in the 1970s.Storyline:Suzanne wants to show America that Age is just a number and that blondes do have fun! She also would like to prove People magazine wrong, which once dubbed herThe dumbest woman in America.Performance:The judges are obsessed with Suzannes legs, which works out well because she threw in a Thighmasters joke at the beginning of the routine. They dont make them like that anymore stuff of legends, my darling, Bruno roars.

RANK: 7

Willow Shields/Mark Ballas(chacha, judge score: 6, 6, 6,7for a total of25points)Occupation:ActressAge:14Best known for:The Hunger Games franchise, in which she playsPrimrose Everdeen, theyounger sister of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) .Storyline:Hey, did you catch shes the the youngest performer ever on the show? They only mentioned it about 20 times. Willow has another goal even though she played along with a goofy Hunger Games skit in her intro, she wants to be known for more than just the gazillion-dollar franchise.Performance:Willow is adorable and the judges obviously love her. Even grumpy Len compares her toAlka-Seltzer, as in sparkling, bubbly, refreshing and makes you feel good.Juliannechimes too:You might be theyoungest competitorweve ever had, but girl, youve got somesass!

RANK: 8

Redfoo/Emma Slater (cha cha, judge score: 6, 5, 5, 6 for a total of 22 points)Occupation:MusicianAge:39Best known for:SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS-SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS-SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS-SHOTS, SHOTS. also known as one of the most popular songs from his duo l***o. (Other hits:Im Sexy and I Know It, Party Rock Anthem)Storyline:Former DWTS guest judge turned contestant.Performance:He also goes with his own song, Juicy Wiggle, with a performance so psychedelic and brightly-colored that its hard to watch. You dance like your hair a little wild and unkempt, Len tells him, while Julianne says she cant wait to see what he does week to week.

RANK: 9

Patti LaBelle/Artem Chigvintsev (fox trot, judge score: 7, 6, 6, 6 for a total of 25 points)Occupation:Grammy-winning singerAge:70Best known for:Winning every music award that exists.Storyline:Shes a legendary singer but has no dancing experience can she fight through the struggle? Im here to show America that Miss Patti can dance, she declared, adding that she wants to prove what you can do at age 70.Performance:Well, you get an automatic advantage when you dance to one of your own songs (Lady Marmalade).Juliannegushes about Pattis presence, calling her a gorgeous, graceful goddess and that everything was beautiful. Bruno calls it enriching, Carrie Ann also loves it. You can ring my bell, Patti Len grins, while Tom Bergeron proves why hes Americas hero and chimes in, Thats one rusty bell!

RANK: 10

Charlotte McKinney/Keo Motsepe (jive, judge score: 6, 5,5, 6 for a total of 22 points)Occupation:ModelAge:23Best known for:This basically nakedCarls Jr. Super Bowl commercial, which has been watched about 10 million times on YouTube.Storyline:Charlotte says she wants to show America that theres more than her than just b***s no word on if that will actually happen since her whole segment was devoted to n***d jokes and how her chest could impede her dancing. Keosuggested using lots of tape.Performance:Charlotte botches the beginning of the dance and the judges lightly critique her skills. They all want her back next week. Julianne says she needs to walk her footwork, but notes The top half is actually really great the bottom half you need a little bit of work on. Lots of cheers and much agreement from Bruno, who says something that sounds like It must take amomentouseffort to carry Americas most imposing frontage. Tom Bergerons reaction is priceless.

RANK: 11

Chris Soules/Witney Carson (jive, judge score: 7, 6, 6, 7 for a total of 26 points)Occupation:Reality starAge:33Best known for:The Bachelor and living in a really, really small town on a farm.Storyline:Engaged to Whitney, dancing with a Witney awkward! And as Chris points out, thereslotsof physical contact on the dance floor. Props to co-host Erin Andrews for calling him out on that one: You were like The Bachelor that made out witheveryone, she points out.Performance:Bad news: Prince Farming cant reallydance. The judges avoid calling him terrible and instead compliment his sincerity on the dance floor. Tons and tons of potential here, Carrie Ann raves, and gives him tips on how to channel his natural charisma into dancing skill. You need some polish,Lensays sternly.

['The Bachelor' finale overshadowed by awkward 'Bachelorette' twist]

RANK: 12

Robert Herjavec/Kym Johnson (cha cha, judge score: 7, 7, 7, 7 for a total of 28 points)Occupation:CEO of one of the largestcyber-security firms in the worldAge:51Best known for:One of the sharks/judges on ABCs Shark Tank.Storyline:Robert is very, very rich and wants people to know it, because why else would he show up in his intro with a private plane and Ferrari?Performance:Roberts a pretty goofy dancer, and the judges are shocked thathe actuallylikes to let loose and have fun. What a pleasant surprise! Bruno says, who was expecting a shark and instead got Flipper the crazy dolphin. Len criticizes his dance moves but is also pleased that hes embracing the silliness of the show.

Real-estate heir Robert Durst

9 photos

Millionaire real-estate heir Robert Durst, seen here with a cap in December, was arrested by FBI agents in New Orleans on Saturday, March 14. Investigators say they believe Durst, 71, was behind the slaying of writer Susan Berman, Durst's longtime friend who was shot dead in her Beverly Hills, California, home in 2000. Durst is also the focus of the HBO documentary series "The Jinx," which explores his wife's 1982 disappearance and investigators' suspicions that Berman was killed because she knew what happened to her. Durst has long maintained he didn't kill Berman or have anything to do with his wife's disappearance.

Durst appears in a Galveston, Texas, courtroom in 2003. Durst admitted that he had killed and dismembered Morris Black, a neighbor in Galveston, but he argued he'd shot Black in self-defense during a struggle. A jury found Durst not guilty, but he remained in jail for a time because of a bail jumping charge.

Durst, seen here in February 1991, is an heir to a fortune thanks to his family's New York City real estate investments. The Durst Organization was founded by his grandfather and is now run by his brother and cousin. After a civil lawsuit in 2006, Robert Durst cut ties with his family and 10 Manhattan skyscrapers in return for a $65 million settlement, The New York Times reported.

Durst has said the last time he saw her was when he dropped her off at a train station in Westchester, New York, so she could head back to medical school in the city.

"The dominoes of justice are now starting to fall," Jim McCormack, her brother, said. "Through our faith, hope and prayers the last domino will bring closure and justice for Kathie."

The Tide (18-14) is the No. 6 seed in its region, but will host since No. 3 seed Illinois' arena is being renovated.

Henry Cejudo eyeing Mexico City following flyweight win at UFC 185

Henry Cejudo

After several previous failed attempts to make flyweight, Henry Cejudosuccessfully made the 125-pound limit for his UFC 185 bout with Chris Cariaso.

Things went well in his first bout inthe UFCs lightest weight classas the 2008 Olympic gold medalist controlled the fight from bell to bell, using his wrestling to dictate where the fight took place and sticking Cariasos(17-7 MMA, 7-5 UFC) back to either the cage or canvas. Cejudo (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) tookall three judgesscorecards, 30-27, for the unanimous-decision victory.

Cejudo wasnt entirely happy with his performance, however, andsaid he wanted to score a knockout. That disappointment was still present to a degree as Cejudo was asked about itat the post-fight press conference.

Absolutely, Cejudo said. I come from Mexican descent. Were known to fight smart, or at least to showcase some type of standup like I did my last fight. I felt a little tight in my arms and my chest. It was from the weighcut. I mean, it wasnt bad. I was a pound under Friday night, so whoever bet against me, you get this one. Ill be back. Im only going to get better. I would love to fight in Mexico City. Im fluent in Spanish. My parents are from Mexico City.

UFC President Dana White was very supportive of the idea of Cejudo getting a slot on the next card inMexico City, UFC 188, which is slated for June 13.

Oh, hes good, White said. Hes going to Mexico for sure.

Cejudo weighed in for the bout, which took place on the pay-per-view main cardatAmerican Airlines Center in Dallas, at 125 pounds despite a one-pound allowance (126 pounds) fornon-title fights.

He explained what led to the one-pound cushion despite several previous bad weight cuts, including having to cancel his UFC 177 bout with Scott Jorgensen due to medical difficulties during the cut.

I hired a good nutritionist, Cejudo said. He really pretty much held my hand along the way. I just kept sweating and sweating and losing weight without even really trying. I only used the sauna for like 15 minutes. I literally went back to the prison lifestyle when I was training for the Olympics. I had no life for these last three months. I was kind of scared to be honest with you. When youve got Vegas odds going against you for betting, that kind of sucks for me. So like I said, you get one of these.

As a little kid, I used to fight for ice cream in the ghettos of Phoneix. Im a 20-year-old kid now, and now I get a chance to fight for UFC gold. It means a lot to me.Dream big, sacrifice all, and you will enjoy victory.
