The nine scenarios US intelligence predicted for the future of Adolf Hitler in ...

During WWII theOffice of Strategic Services, a precursor to the CIA, hired an American psychologist to analyze and predict the behaviorof the worlds most brutal tyrant.

Psychologist Henry Murray produced a229-page report, The Personality of Adolf Hitler, in which he found Hitler to be a schizophrenic who acted like aparanoid utter wreck and who was incapable of normal human relationships.

Murray predicted that Hitlers mental instability would lead to the n**i leaders downfall. It can be confidently predicted that Hitlers neurotic spells will increase in frequency and duration and his effectiveness as a leader will diminish, Murray wrote.

Murray predicted nine possible scenarios of what could happen next as of 1943:

1. A revolutionary German group may capture Hitler and imprison him in a fortress

Murray noted that this scenario was highly unlikely considering Hitlers widespread reverence, but if Hitler were captured, Murray was sure those forces would deliver him to the US. Once Hitler was out of power, the General Staff will no doubt become the rulers of Germany, Murray wrote.

2. Hitler might be assassinated by a German

In his report, Murray described Hitler as a paranoid utter wreck who frequently worried about being shot or poisoned. He therefore took extreme precautions and was protected as never before, according to Murray.Again, another unlikely situation, Murray wrote, because Germans are not inclined to shoot their leaders.

3. He may arrange to be executed by a close friend or a Jew

If necessary, Murray wrote, Hitler may orchestrate an elaborate and dramatic death to appear as a hero taken too soon from his nation. Similar to the deaths of Caesar and Christ, deathby the hand of a loyal follower really appealed to Hitler, Murray noted. It might increase the fanaticism of the soldiers for a while and create a legend in conformity with the ancient pattern.

To expand on this theory, Murray suggested Hitler may even ask for a Jewish person to shoot and kill him to validate his beliefs that Jews were evil. In this scenario, Hitler would hope his fellow countrymen would rise in their wrath and massacre every remaining Jew in Germany.

4. Hitler may die while leading troops into battle

Another way for Hitler to glorify himself as a courageous and decisive leader would be to die on the battlefield. This course of action was most likely, considering Hitler realized his death alongside troops would exemplifyhis battle cry to fight with fanatical death-defying energy to the bitter end.

5. He may go insane

Murray said Hitler was aschizophrenic who suffered from frequent emotional collapses and lacked mental clarity in high-stress situations.

Often described as moody and listless, Hitler was an insomniac and was traumatized by violent nightmares when he was able to sleep.

The man has been on the verge of paranoid schizophrenia for years and with the mounting load of frustration and failure he may yield his will to the turbulent forces of our unconscious, Murray wrote.

6. He may commit suicide

Based on Hitlers stubborn pride, he would kill himself before being imprisoned.

If he chooses this course, he will do it at the last moment and in the most dramatic possible manner, Murray wrote. Hitlers predicted suicide attempts included the following:

  • Blow up his home and himself in Berchtesgaden with dynamite
  • Make a giantfuneral pyreand throw himself into the flames
  • Shoot himself with a silver bullet, mirroring the suicide of Haitian Emperor Christophe
  • Jump to his death from a bridge or balcony

This came to be: On April 30, 1945, Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin bunker with his long-term mistressEva Braun, less than an hour after their wedding.

7. He could also die of natural causes

Inevitable of all human beings.

8. He might seek refuge in a neutral country

According to Murray, the only case for this happening would be if Hitler were drugged by one of his trusted advisers and put on a plane to Switzerland, where he would then be persuaded to stay once he woke up. This option would not please Hitler because he could be labeled as a deserter or coward.

9. He may fall into the hands of the United Nations

Murray didnt elaborate on this prediction and described it only as a least likely, but most desirable outcome.

Boston Marathon 2015: Map, Date, Early Preview And Past Winners Of The ...

A year and six days after the tragic bombing at the 2013 Boston Marathon, Meb Keflezighi became the first American to win the race since 1983. On Monday, April 20, last years winner returns to defend his title.

This was more than a race, Keflezighi told The Boston Globe. It was the peoples race, in a way. To be the American to win after 31 years people understood the magnitude, of how long it took. But also with what was on the line, to be able to pull victory for the city, for the people, for the victims, for just peace, I feel blessed.

In the first Boston Marathon after three people died and 260 more were injured, Keflezighis victory was one of the most memorable in the races history. But at 39 years old, h**l have a difficult time repeating, considering the runners hes up against.

Ethiopias Lelisa Desisa won the 2013 Boston Marathon, and hes looking to win the race for a second time. His best ever time in a 26.2-mile race is 2 hours, four minutes and 45 seconds, which is nearly four minutes better than Keflezighis time last year. Patrick Makau set a then-world record at the 2011 Berlin Marathon, finishing in two hours, three minutes and 38 seconds. The Kenyan runner won the Fukuoka Marathon in December, topping Keflezighis 2014 Boston Marathon time by 15 seconds.

Wesley Korir is looking to win the race after doing so in 2012. Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot is the last repeat winner, finishing in first place in 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Geoffrey Mutai set the world record that still stands when he won the 2011 Boston Marathon, running it in two hours, three minutes and two seconds.

The 119th Boston Marathon begins in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, leading runners through areas such as Ashland, Natick and Wellesley, where contestants will go through the "Scream Tunnel" at the halfway point. The race ends in downtown Boston. (Click here for the complete map of the 26.2-mile course.)

Last years marathon saw 36,000 runners compete. The 2015 Boston Marathon will have a field of 30,000 runners, making it the third-largest field in the races history. The record was set in 1996 with 38,708 runners.

The first-place finisher will be awarded $150,000. Second-place wins $75,000 and $40,000 goes to third place.

NBA Playoffs: Observations From The First Day

The NBA Playoffs started yesterday with some thrilling games, leaving some indelible impressions on those who watched. There were no upsets in either of the four games that were on the schedule. That said, there were a few things to pay attention to going forward.

Going into the NBA Playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, and Atlanta Hawks were the favorites to win the championship. Only Golden State was displayed yesterday. The Cavs, Hawks, and Spurs play today.

The Warriors had the best regular season record, and as a reward, they play the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round in the West.

Since the rules do not have realignment in the NBA Playoffs, the Warriors drew a Pelicans team that is more capable than fans outside of New Orleans realize.

Anthony Davis is a basketball stud. He was on display throughout the game despite having foul trouble. He and the Pelicans were down 25 and did not panic. What was originally thought to be a laugher turned out to be a tense game in the end. The eighth seed showed some heart in the fourth quarter, eventually losing 106-99.

MVP frontrunner Stephen Curry acknowledged the tension in his postgame interview (via ESPN).

In those situations, you want to get the crowd back into it. Theres a weird kind of tension, especially in the second half when they made a couple runs. But in the playoffs, you have to expect anything. And whenever youre on the floor, just try to make an impact.

New Orleans is a bigger team, and they are athletic in just about every position. This best-of-seven series could go the distance if Golden State is not careful.

The NBA Playoffs began with a good game between Team Drake (Toronto Raptors) hosting Team Wale (Washington Wizards). Washington Wizard fans were holding on to the edge of their seats while watching their team blow a 15-point lead in the final quarter versus the Toronto Raptors. The Wizards won in overtime, taking a 1-0 series, but most importantly, they took over home court advantage.

Washington is one of the dark horses in the NBA Playoffs. Yesterday showed everyone why.

The @WashWizards (in OT), @Warriors, @ChicagoBulls & @HoustonRockets each go up 1-0: http://t.co/C5nCjWnqi1 pic.twitter.com/kVm5GHOLzv

NBA (@NBA) April 19, 2015

Expect more fight from Team Drake I mean the Raptors in Game 2.

The close proximity of the Houston Rockets / Dallas Mavericks series made last night an interesting watch. These two teams hate each other. A lot of pushing and shoving, a flagrant foul here or there, and you will have the most intense first round matchup.

Both teams proved true to form in the Rockets 118-108 win. The first game had a lot of fireworks, expect that, along with a couple of ejections to happen.

Perhaps the odds-makers did not do it purposely but they forgot about the Chicago Bulls. The guard rotation of Aaron Brooks (13 points), Jimmy Butler (25 points), and Derrick Rose (23 points) were all over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Everyone expects the Bulls to dominate Milwaukee with their superior size, but if the guard play continues execute proficiently, the series will not be a sweep. Every contender was put on notice last night that the MVP version of Derrick Rose may have returned after rehabbing from meniscus surgery.

Rose looked pain-free and motivated. He played with a boulder on his shoulder, not a chip. And if that attitude carries over to the rest of the team the Bulls are not going to be denied in the NBA Playoffs.

Predictions by Mazique

Saturday's Standouts

Derrick Rose

Chicago Bulls fans had to be delighted in what they saw from Derrick Rose on Saturday. Inhis first playoff game since 2012, the city's pride and joy came through with 23 points and seven assists.

ESPN Stats and Info lauded Rose's shot selection.

More important than the numbers was Rose's energy and approach. He played aggressively, attacked the basket and looked to set up his teammates all game. It was a vintage Rose performance, the likes of which Bulls fans hadn't seen in quite a whilefrom their oft-injured star.

Needless to day, if Rose can continue to produce that type of effort, Chicago should sweep the Milwaukee Bucks.

Paul Pierce

Speaking of efficiency, Paul Pierce's performance on Saturday had the "e"word written all over it. He scored 20 points on just 10 shots from the field and keyed a third-quarter run that helped pushed the Washington Wizards to an 18-point lead over the Toronto Raptors.

For whatever reason, Washington got away from Pierce in the fourth quarter and the offense was stagnant. Pierce's job, for as long as Washington is active in the postseason, will be to get the tough buckets that his younger teammates aren't able to get.

On Saturday, he did that and got hot from the field in the process. When you consider John Wall and Bradley Beal shot a combined 11-for-41 from the field and the team still won in overtime on the road, it's clear the Raptors are in for a long series.

Stephen Curry

It might have been slightly surprising to see what Rose and Pierce did for their teams on Saturday, but there was nothing out of the ordinary about what the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry did.

The MVP candidate scored 34 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished five assists in leading the Warriors to victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The scariest part about Curry's day is that he didn't even shoot the ball especially well. He made just four of his 13 three-point attempts. He also uncharacteristically missed three of seven free throws. With better games likely on the horizon, the Pels might have squandered their best chance to steal a game on the road in this series.

Batman vs. Superman Trailer Leaks: See Ben Afflecks Batman Square Off ...

Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?

No, not really. But that rhetorical question kicks off the highly anticipated trailer to Zack Snyders upcoming DC Comics superhero blockbuster Batman vs. Superman. The film, not due until 2016, pits Ben Afflecks Bruce Wayne/Batman against Henry Cavills Clark Kent/Superman in a battle royale.

The trailer for Snyders film was supposed to premiere on April 20 in IMAX theaters:

Well, the trailer has apparently leaked online a few days ahead of its planned debut. The subtitles are in Portuguese, so it stands to reason that the footage was bootlegged in Brazil. Either way, its something.

The footageif it is indeed authentic, though it looks pretty legitshows glimpses of Snyders film, including Cavills Superman being cornered by a group of face-painted men straight out of a Dia de los Muertos parade, followed by cheers and jeers from the citizens of Metropolis who have apparently turned on the man who recently saved their a***s, as you see a gigantic Superman statue spray-painted in red with the words False G*d on it being taken down Saddam-style. There are also vague voiceovers courtesy of Lux Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), who says, Devils dont come from h**l beneath us they come from the sky, and Batmans loyal butler Alfred (Jeremy Irons), who utters, Thats how it startsthe feeling the powerlessness that turns good men cruel.

We see a brief flash of Affleck outside the costume before he lumbers forward, looking like the bulkiest Batman yet, before he squares off against Superman with his illuminated white eyes, grumbling in a gravelly baritone: Tell me do you bleed? You will. The white eyes, by the way, come from Batmans detective mode built into his cowl from both Grant Morrisons Batman: Arkham Asylum and Frank Millers seminal series of graphic novels Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, which gives him not only heightened detection skills and night vision, but also white eyes.

Still no sign of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, or Jason Momoa's Aquaman here, but for that perhaps we'll have to wait for Trailer Nos. 8, 9, and 10.

You can check it out here:

UPDATE: Due to the leak, director Zack Snyder has tweeted out the #notblurry #notpirated version of the trailer, which is much higher quality:

Friday Feature: 'True Story' review

Hayden Pittman, WFAA Special Contributor 4:36 p.m. CDT April 17, 2015

(L-R) Jonah Hill as Mike Finkel and James Franco as Christian Longo in "True Story."(Photo: Barry Wetcher/Fox Searchlight Pictures)

Starring James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Felicity Jones, "True Story" is a dramatic thriller based on true events and elevated by performances from Franco and Hill, who star in a more serious and engaging role than most audiences have likely seen before.

Overall, this film has many good qualities, but it also has several elements that seem to be out of place or that simply do not work. Although there is some dark and hard content, it's nice to see Hill and Franco together in something other than a comedy. While the film may not be on the exact same level, it almost presents a "Gone Girl" or "Prisoners"-like thrilling, dramatic experience.

Going into this film, I didn't know anything about it. To my knowledge, I was not familiar with the story and had not seen any advertisements for the film. Being a fan of Franco, Hill, and Jones, I had good hopes for the movie. Initially, I expected Hill or Franco to start telling jokes, but after some time, I started to appreciate their decent performances. "True Story" won't be mistaken for the best of its genre or one of the top films of the year, but it's a refreshing change from some of the other films currently in theaters.

Hill plays the role of Michael Finkel, a journalist for the New York Times who gets fired for improperly creating a story about African slave trade. On top of losing his job and struggling to find another, Finkel soon finds out that Christian Longo (Franco), a man who is part of the FBI's Most Wanted for allegedly murdering his wife and kids, has been arrested, and claims to have been living as Michael Finkel. The real Finkel goes to visit Longo in prison, and the two strike up a rather strange relationship, where Finkel ends up trading journalism and writing tips for Longo's confession and account of what really happened.

"True Story" is the kind of film that is not always clear, doesn't give you all the pieces and presents a slow reveal, which often keeps you guessing, waiting, and sometimes confused. It's clearly a drama or suspense thriller, utilizing techniques like slow motion, extreme close-ups of people or objects, shots that are in and out of focus, long pauses, and ominous or dark background music. Some of the material is often weird, eerie, or difficult to watch, such as the creepy relationships or encounters between characters, or when Longo is describing how his family died while showing flashbacks of the event. There's not exactly a huge shocking reveal at the end; it's more of the creepy and odd way everything plays out.

The plot of the film is intriguing enough and there are several known quality actors, but for whatever reason, certain things don't seem to work. Whether it's the dialogue, pacing, the setup and layout of events, or something else entirely, parts of the film just feel off, unclear, out of place, misused, poorly executed, etc. Felicity Jones plays Finkel's wife, and while her performance is not a loss, her role seems forced or incomplete at times. As she is an English actress, I had a difficult time trying not to focus on her attempting to cover up her accent. When it's all said and done, there are certain elements in the film that are very weird.

While the storytelling and treatment may not be perfect, it's fascinating and even chilling to think about the reality of what really happened with Finkel and Longo. From British theater director Rupert Goold, produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, and premiering at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, "True Story" feels more like an artistic indie thriller than a Hollywood blockbuster. For fans of Hill and Franco, their interactions and one-on-ones are the main reasons to see this film. Opinions of this film are all over the map, but there's no denying that this tense thriller and true story provide adequate entertainment.

Rated 3 out of 5 stars.

"True Story" is rated R for language and some disturbing material. Running time is 1 hour and 40 minutes.
