That Awkward Moment When The Prince Couldn't Put A Ring On Sofia Hellqvist ...

Theres nothing like a royal wedding. The glamour, the prestige, the royal spotting, the ring not fitting. Say what? Thats right, at the latest royal wedding between Swedens Prince Carl Philip (36) and former glamour model and reality star Sofia Hellqvist (30), there was a bit of an awkward moment when the prince couldnt get a ring on Sophias finger.

Prince Carl Philip is third in line to the Swedish throne, and Sofia Hellqvist can now add the title of Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Vrmland (or Princess Sofia for short) to her rsum. The ceremony took place in the chapel at Stockholms Royal Palace and was attended by the likes of Britains Prince Edward, Belgiums Queen Mathilde, and Princess Takamado of Japan. Sofia Hellqvist walked down the aisle in front of 550 guests. Prince Carl Philip was noted to blink back tears as his princess-to-be walked down the aisle with Enyas Father in Heaven playing.

During the service, Carl Philip appeared nervous and managed to fumble at the all-important ring exchange moment. Accidentally, he tried to slide Sofias ring onto the wrong finger (his nerves were that great), but after the couple giggled about it, the ring finally came to rest on the right finger, and Sofia Hellqvist was officially a princess. There were no nerves when it came time to seal their marriage with a kiss.

Sofia Hellqvist wore a dress by Swedish designer Ida Sjstedt and already, royal fans are comparing it to the dress Kate Middleton wore when she wed Prince William of England. Kate attended the wedding, so perhaps Sofia and her compared the finer details of each others dresses at the wedding reception. Sofias dress was simple yet elegant, with lace sleeves and a long train. She wore her hair up in a bun that showed off the tattoo on the back of her neck. Sofia Hellqvist also wore a diamond-encrusted tiara topped with brilliant green emeralds. Her bouquet was white, pale pink, and orange roses that matched the huge pillars of flowers at the church and the enormous wall display at their wedding reception.

Once the royal couple were married, they greeted royal fans as they traveled in a horse-drawn carriage through central Stockholm, with Sofia Hellqvist even giving a thumbs up to the crowd. Prince Philip thanked Sweden for attending, It shows Sweden is a warm country with lots of love, and then the couple attended their wedding reception.

Swedens royal family is a constitutional monarchy, with the king holding no political sway. All of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvias children have now officially married commoners or people without noble rank. While Sofia Hellqvist is now a princess, if the country hadnt changed its succession laws in 1980 to make the eldest child not the eldest male child heir, she would also be directly in line to become the queen of Sweden one day, rather than sitting at third in line of succession.

Which was your favorite royal wedding? How did Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvists compare? Let us know your thoughts by commenting below!

Colombia vs. Venezuela : Copa America preview

Colombia is set to play Venezuela on Sunday at 2 pm in Chile in their first match in the group C division of the Copa America 2015. Here is who you should be watching for.

ColombiaOffensive weaponsJames Rodriguez

An attacking midfielder who now plays for Real Madrid, had the most goals of any player in the entire World Cup tournament last year. He is only 23 years old, but proved in his performance in the 2014 World Cup that he is without question one of the teams most valuable players. He is expected to be among the most exciting players to watch in the entire tournament.

Radamel the Tiger Falcao

Elected team captain by head coach Jose Pekerman. He is Colombias all time top scorer, having made 25 goals since his international debut for Colombia in 2007. Falcao struggled this year as a loan striker for Manchester United, scoring only 4 goals all season. However, in a recent friendly against Costa Rica, he scored the teams only goal, bringing them a 1-0 win, effectively allowing him to regain the support of his team and his fans. Despite the shoddy performance in England this year, he is still considered one of the most dangerous strikers in the world today.

Calos Bacca

This 29-year-oldcurrently is seeking to prove himself to the world and to potential future soccer club managers, as he intends to up his stock in the midst of a contractual transition. In the past two seasons as a striker for Sevilla he has reportedly scored nearly 50 goals. He has been a consistently positive asset for Colombia, and is expected to continue to be in the upcoming matches.

Defensive concerns

The team faces many challenges on defense, as they have lost several key players to injuries. Midfielders Abel Aguilar, Fredy Guarin and Juan Quintero, plus defender Eder Alvarez Balanta are all currently on the disabled list. Furthermore, last years team captain and star defenseman, Mario Yepes has since retired.

Jeison Murillo of Granada and 23-year-old Santiago Arias will be Colombias stoppers. They each will be seeking to prove themselves. Behind them will be an experienced David Ospina defending the goal.

Coach

Coach Pekerman has won three consecutive World Under-20 championships with Argentina. In 2006, he led Argentina to the World Cups quarter-finals. In 2012, he led Colombia to the World Cups quarter finals, which was the furthest the team had ever reached. This year he hopes to return Colombia to the glory they enjoyed in 2001.

Venezuela

11 of Venezuelas23 players are presently competing with European teams. While La Vinotinto (Venezuela team name) is not favored to win, they will likely not be an easy feat either. Historically, Venezuela has not had the same football fanatic culture that their neighbor and Sunday opponent Colombia has. That said, ever since they hosted the Copa America in 2007, at which point they made it to the quarterfinals for the first time ever, they have consistently been considered a worthy opponent. Then in 2011, they again made history by advancing to the semifinals. This year they hope to take it all the way.

Offensive weapons

Venezuelas star player, Salomon Rondon, scored 12 goals this season for Zenit St. Petersburg, helping his team win the Russian Premier League title. He is a ferocious contender and likely to be the biggest threat Venezuela has against Colombia.

Team captain Juan Arango is the teams all time highest scorer, having made 23 career goals for Venezuela. He is the most seasoned veteran of the team, having appeared in some 100 matchesfor his nations team. He is 35, arguably weathered, yet still effective.

Beyond Rondon and Arango, Venezuela is largely undermanned with star players. This could be a debilitating factor to their fate in the tournament.

Defense

Roberto Rosales and Oswaldo Vizcarrondo will be Venezuelas backfield. They will have to prove their effectiveness in the coming matches. In goal, will be an experienced Dani Hernandez.

Anybodys game

In group C is Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Peru. In order to advance to the second round of the tournament, the Cafeteros will have to finish either first or second in the group that also contains soccer giant Brazil and World Cup participant Peru. Brazil defeated Colombia last year in the 2014 World Cup. Peru knocked out Colombia in the 2011 Copa America. That same year Venezuela made it to the semifinals for the first time in history.

The route to the cup will be no easy task. That said, this years national team is likely be the best squad that Colombia has seen since they won their first and only Copa America in 2001, the year they hosted it. Within their arsenal, they have some of the best offensive weapons in the entire tournament, and arguably the world. The greatest pending concern will thus be how their defense pans against a Venezuelan attack that is hungry for glory. As of now, it is anybodys game. Heres to hoping Colombia redeems itself against all of its past rivals.

Ruby Rose says she's excited starring in Orange Is The New Black

She'll soon be seen on Orange Is The New Black, one of her biggest gigs yet.

And Ruby Rose admits that the show has sparked something inside of her - even if she originally had pegged the show as a failure.

Speaking toSunday Stylemagazine, the star said,'I've hit the ground running' after starring on the show.

Good feeling: Ruby Rose has said appearing in Orange Is The New Black has got her 'fired up again'

Although a fan of the show now, the 29-year-old said she at first was worried the concept wouldn't work.

'It has women directors, writers and producers; it's about women in prison. Everything about it had "failure" written on it,' she said, referring to the way the series broke new ground for audiences who hadn't seen a show like it before and may have been divided over the content.

The Netflix original series stars Taylor Schilling and has become wildly popular and acclaimed since it's 2013 debut, having won many Emmy, People's Choice and Screen Actors Guild awards.

Ruby has been promoting the season three premiere, which happens on June 12, on her Instagram account - posting a teaser shot of herself in beige jumpsuit alongside Taylor's character Piper Chapman.

It's good to be wrong: The 29-year-old said she was a big fan of the show, which she'll star in the upcoming third season of, but admitted the had originally pegged OITNB as a failure

Pleasant surprise: Ruby thought the game-changing show about women in prison might be divisive

The new season will see her play Stella Carlin, who becomes involved in a love triangle with Piper and Alex Vause, who's played by Laura Prepon.

Prior to Orange Is The New Black, the model was cast as Hannah in 2013 Australian film Around The Block.

She's done plenty of hosting and presenting work - most notably as an MTV VJ and a former panelist on The Project.

Ruby, engaged to partner Phoebe Dahl, recently debuted a new look - trimming her hair into a bowl cut.

College World Series memories: Shock the World

Kate Morrison, WFAA Sports 2:22 p.m. CDT June 13, 2015

The College World Series is upon us, with the first four teams facing off Saturday, June 13th. To get an insight into what it's like to travel the road to Omaha, and make it there as an underdog, I spoke with current Frisco RoughRiders catcher Pat Cantwell, who was the starting catcher for the Stony Brook Seawolves in 2012. The Seawolves were the fourth-seed in their region that year, and won four elimination games to advance to the College World Series, adopting the slogan "Shock the World" along the way.

What was it like, getting to the college playoffs with Stony Brook?

'We were underdogs the whole year - coming from the northeast, no one really gave us a shot anyway, but if anything it made us closer and it probably helped us out. I wouldn't trade that experience for the world."

What was the best part of your journey to the College World Series?

"Probably winning at LSU, because we were such big underdogs. I tell people this all the time when people ask me about it - going to Omaha was great, we were the Cinderella story, everybody was cheering for us, but there's something different about being the underdog when nobody wants you to win, nobody expects you to win, and our guys came out and answered the call. It was just one of those things where everybody came together at the right time and we got hot. It was a pretty special two or three days."

Stony Brook faced top pitcher Kevin Gausman in the LSU super-regional. What was that like?

"He [Gausman] was the best pitcher in college baseball that year, he closed out game 1 - the game that we actually lost because of the rain delay, so he finished out that game and [started] in Game 2. He did what he's best at - used both sides of the plate, good offspeed, good changeup, good slider. We were fortunate enough to get a couple of big hits, couple of guys on, and a couple of runs, and our pitching staff and bullpen did a great job, our defense was - I think it was nationally ranked that year, top 10 in the country. We made all the plays that we needed to make and fortunately we came out on top against a great pitcher and better competitor."

What advice would you have for someone with a team that's made it to Omaha this year?

"My advice would be to enjoy it, but don't let it take away from your competitive edge. Guys go there and they fall in love with the city and the people, everybody's very welcoming and very nice to you, everybody knows you're a baseball player when you're walking around. Go and enjoy it but you have to be ready to play when the time comes, so don't lose that competitive edge, but it's an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life, so you've got to try to have some fun with it too."

Any last thoughts or favorite memories of the College World Series?

"I mean, just the city of Omaha itself. You know, it was real cool when we got there - all the streets where the hotels are are named after the teams that are there, that was awesome. Everywhere you went there was some type of memorabilia from each school that was playing that year. The field was amazing, we played the first year at the new ballpark, and that's a beautiful facility. It was just a great experience. Everything that that city does for this time of the year is amazing, and I wish everybody could experience it once in their life, but it's just one of those things that you have to see for yourself."

The College World Series begins today at 2:00 PM CT when the Arkansas Razorbacks face off against the Virginia Cavaliers (ESPN), and continues with Florida versus Miami (FL) at 7:00 PM CT (ESPN). TCU will kick off its campaign for the title against LSU on Sunday at 2:00 PM CT (ESPN), with Cal State Fullerton facing defending champions Vanderbilt at 7:00 PM CT (ESPN2) that night.

Thailand beat the Ivory Coast 3-2 on a brace from Orathai Srimanee

Orathai Srimanee of Thailand celebrates with teammates after scoring her second goal vs. the Ivory Coast.

Thanatta Chawong scored an insurance goal in the 75th minute which proved the difference as Thailand beat Ivory Coast 3-2 in their Women's World Cup opening group game on Thursday in Ottawa, Ontario.

Thailand's group record improved to 1-1-0 with three points while Ivory Coast, 10-0 losers to Germany in their opener, fell to 0-2-0.

Ivory Coast opened the scoring just four minutes in. A corner kick pinballed in the 6-yard box until Ange Nguessan was able to get her left foot on it and beat Thailand goalkeeper Waraporn Boonsing for a 1-0 lead.

In the 26th minute, Anootsara Maijarern took a seemingly offside long feed on the left wing and passed to Orathai Srimanee, who volleyed it by goalkeeper Dominique Thaimale to even the game.

Srimanee made it 2-1 in first-half stoppage time, heading home a service from Rattikan Thongsombut. The ball hit the crossbar and came straight down, but review confirmed it completely crossed the goal line.

Josee Nahi cut the deficit to one in the 88th minute, but a tying attempt by Christine Lohoues in injury time hit the crossbar and deflected out of bounds.

From Phineas and Ferb to Supreme Court Season, These Were the Best Stories ...

Back in the real world, however, there were, of course, more serious matters to consider. Relations between law enforcement and the public continue to dominate our attention. Slate had two pieces this week that did a great job of pulling back from the breaking news to examine more complex issues. Dahlia Lithwick looked at whether excited delirium is a legitimate medical diagnosis or just something convenient for cops to cite when suspects die in custody. And in the wake of the McKinney, Texas, pool party controversy, Jamelle Bouie reminded readers that America has a long (and ugly) history of segregating our swimming pools.

Amanda Hess has a heartrending article on Izabel Laxamana, the Washington state teenager who committed suicide after her father cut off her hair and made a video shaming her for disobeying him. Hess notes that shaming is a medieval practice that takes on a whole new dimension in a society dominated by social media and YouTube.

The big finale of the Supreme Court season is coming up, and Slate is on it. Adam Winkler reviews John Roberts not-so-conservative record so far, and Dahlia Lithwick looks into her crystal ball and predicts that the justices just might consider how their decisions on Obamacare and gay marriage will affect the 2016 election. Away from the Supreme Court, Mark Joseph Stern is casting a critical eye on how states are seeking to limit rights for gay couples even as SCOTUS appears (maybe) ready to make gay marriage the law of the land.

Thats a lot of heavy stuff. Maybe you need a mental health break, something more lighthearted. As it turns out, our culture editor Dan Kois has just the thing for you. He spent some time with the good folks at ClickHole, the site that mocks buzzing, feedy things that buzz all over your feed.

Before I go, one of the delights of working at Slate is stumbling across the pieces that make you go hmmmm. Things that defy expectations or answer questions that you never thought to ask. The disparate entries in that category this week are this video that shows you how to use chickpea liquid as an egg white substitute and a science piece that looks at whether a subdivision built on ancient Pueblo lands can actually be good for archaeology.

Thank you so much for being a member, and have a great weekend.
