NBA trade rumors: Knicks dealing for Atlanta Hawks" Jeff Teague?

LA Clippers vs New York Knicks - Full Game Highlights | January 22, 2016 | NBA 2015-16 Season

If you"ve heard anything from us about possible Knickstrade targets, it"s been two words: Point. Guard.

Shaq says LSU "paid me very well"

After some rumblings about Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Jenningsand ex-Sixers guard Tony Wroten, there"s now another PG who could be on the Knicks" radar, per ESPN"s Ian Begley: The Atlanta Hawks" Jeff Teague:

The Nets are the worst franchise in pro sportsHopeless now. Hopeless in the future. But at least they"re Brooklyn"s problem now.

"The Knicks are one of several teams to express interest in the 27-year-old Teague. ...It"s unknown at this point how far along the talks between the Knicks and Hawks are but one league source said that casual discussions have been ongoing for several days.

"It"s also unclear what the Knicks have offered in a potential Teague deal.

"Several executives have labeled the Knicks" trade assets as underwhelming."

Here"s what the Knicks have that"s of any value, as Begley notes: Guards Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant, and a first-round pick in 2018 (though we all know what dealing first-rounders has done for the Knicks lately). That"s pretty much it.

Kevin Durant to the Knicks?

Teague still has this year and the next left on his contract, which would put a dent in the Knicks" 2016 cap ... and Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant just happens to be a free agent this summer.

The other option to shore up at the point? Wait until the offseason and go after a name like the Memphis Grizzlies" Mike Conley.

"The Flash" season 2 spoilers: "Days of Our Lives" alum brings a certain Trajectory...

The Flash Zoom ( Hunter Zolomon ) Fan Voice Test

Just in case your mind was not blown enough by all of the surprises that The Flash gave you last night, know this: Another Speedster could be coming soon to Central City to mess with Barry Allen in a very unique way.

According to TVLine, Days of Our Lives alumni Allison Paige is going to be coming aboard the CW series later this season as Eliza Harmon, a woman who also has an alternate comic-book identity of her own in Trajectory. She is known for her speed, but also for causing some chaos and on the show, The Flash could end up being blamed for some of it. Its a classic superhero trope to have a city turn against a hero, but we are curious about what would happen in this world, given that Central City has been incredibly loyal to The Flashto the point that he has his own latte, and that they tried to hold a celebration for him before it was interrupted by Atom-Smasher in the season premiere.

Paige is coming on a show that already has a super-speedster as the Big Bad in Zoom, and we also had the Reverse-Flash return on Tuesday nights new episode. We already know that Harrison Wells daughter on Earth-2 is Jesse, which we presume is some sort of reference to Jesse Quick. Also in this episode we learned that the Earth-1 version of former speedster Jay Garrick is Hunter Zolomon, a man who may very well have a role to play in all of this before the season is over.

Council moves ahead with $5B "Rebuild San Diego" ballot measure

Council moves ahead with $5B Rebuild San Diego ballotmeasure

SAN DIEGO The City Council Tuesday directed the City Attorneys Office develop language for a proposed ballot measure that would set up a method for funding infrastructure projects in San Diego over the next few decades.

Councilman Mark Kerseys Rebuild San Diego plan would amend the City Charter to dedicate future sales tax growth and money from reduced pension payments toward neighborhood upgrades, including streets, sidewalks, storm drains, parks, libraries, recreation centers, and police and fire stations.

In addition, it would preserve half of all new major general fund growth for infrastructure projects formalizing a commitment made by Mayor Kevin Faulconer in his first two budgets.

The money dedicated by the measure would close a gap in funding for fixing billions of dollars of neglected roads, sidewalks, municipal buildings and other city facilities that have been ignored until recently.

Kersey, his Infrastructure Committee and the mayors office have spent the past couple of years trying to figure out the scale of the problem, and to streamline the city processes meant to deal with the issue.

When my team and I first began putting together this measure, we agreed on one overarching goal to never let the citys infrastructure get this bad again, Kersey said. We realized pretty early on it would not be good enough to just invest in new projects or to just close the deferred maintenance gap, because as we now know, simply building new projects doesnt break the cycle of deterioration, which is how we got in this mess in the first place.

The plan doesnt include a tax increase so if it goes on an election ballot possibly in June it would require only a simple majority for passage.

Faulconer has endorsed Kerseys plan, which also received conditional support from the citys Independent Budget Analyst and San Diego County Taxpayers Association. Both the IBA and SDCTA have suggested tweaks.

The City Attorneys Office is scheduled to return Feb. 9 with draft language, at which time the council will determine whether it wants the Rebuild San Diego to last 20, 25 or 30 years. Kersey initially proposed 30 years, but several council members expressed a preference for a shorter time frame.

The City Council has until early March to decide whether the proposed measure will actually go on the ballot.

"The Girl On The Train" Justin Theroux And Emily Blunt Spotted Filming Movie On NYC Set

(Photo : Getty Images/ Mike Coppola and Cindy Ord) Justin Theroux and Emily Blunt were seen filming the upcoming film, "The Girl on the Train" in NYC.

Actors Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux were spotted in New York filming their upcoming film "The Girl on the Train," reports The Daily Mail.

Photographs were taken on the set in Irvington, New York, which is about an hour outside of the city. Justin Theroux was seen bundled up in a black parka while squeezing in a quick shave between filming.

He looked polished and fresh in a crisp blue shirt and black tie.

Emily Blunt was also on set, looking a bit more casual. She was in a gray pea coat with fingerless gloves.

"The Girl on the Train" is the film adaptation of Paula Hawkins 2013 novel of the same name. It centers on Rachel Watson (Blunt), an alcoholic reeling from a divorce from her husband Tom (Theroux). Tom left Rachel for another woman and had a child with her. Rachel began her descent into alcoholism after she found out she was infertile.

Rachel frequently has blackouts and will not remember large portions of what happened while she was drunk. Rachel has lost her job but continues to commute into the city every day to keep up appearance and for her own voyeurism.

She becomes obsessed with this couple she sees on her commute, but when the girl goes missing, Rachel thinks she knows what happened, but isn"t convinced because she was inebriated when she witnessed it.

"I love that your heroine, your lead character is the most unreliable witness in the world because she"s a drunk, yet she"s right, and nobody believes her. The idea of playing a part like that where you just feel like you"re drowning is exciting. I"ve ever played a blackout drunk before," Blunt said of her role in an interview with Deadline.

Laura Prepon ("Orange is the New Black") was the latest addition to the cast. She plays Cathy, Rachel"s roommate who becomes increasingly agitated with her and eventually threatens her with eviction.

"The Girl on the Train" cast also includes Jared Leto and Lisa Kudrow.

It will premiere Oct. 7, 2016

School Notes: "Does FCPS ever like go outside"

FCPS Safety Patrol Training Program

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. And since weve no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ...

What? Oh, sorry, looking out the window, it just looks like a Christmas card.

I think a possibly relevant topic for the column today is how Frederick County Public Schools determines when school is canceled for weather-related reasons.

About 25,000 students ride the bus, said schools spokesman Michael Doerrer, but the district has to consider not only those students but also the walkers.

Staff members keep track of the forecast, gathering information from those in the county who handle weather emergencies, as well as the National Weather Service.

Particularly, the school district monitors the roads and the school lots. Doerrer said that schools are equipped with cameras, and then employees with the school systems transportation department are out inspecting the roads between 3 and 4 a.m. to determine the danger.

The FCPS chief operating officer and deputy superintendent make a recommendation to the superintendent, who communicates that with Doerrer and staff, so around 5:30, students will know whether to remain in their pajamas.

Rarely does the school district make a call about school closings a day before an event, Doerrer said, only when forecasts are consistent and the predictions are so clear that the district knows that schools would need to close.

Weather is so unpredictable, Doerrer said. Generally, we need to see whats actually happening on the ground.

On Monday, schools were closed, and operating on a code yellow, meaning all staff were to stay home, except for emergency personnel, such as maintenance staff members, Doerrer said.

The school system relies on the same sort of criteria to determine whether roads are safe for employees as well, Doerrer said.

And there you have it.

My favorite part of school closing is perusing Twitter and reading all the angry tweets from students begging the school system to cancel school early in the day. (The headline of this column is in reference to one of those tweets.)

Closing early, of course, would please the students, but Ive heard from parents that hearing a decision early does help with planning.

By about 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Frederick County announced that schools would again be closed on Tuesday, following suit from Prince Georges County Public Schools, Montgomery County Public Schools and Washington County Public Schools.

Temporary leave

For the duration of the legislative session, as our usual county government reporter braves Annapolis, I will be reporting on Frederick County government.

This means I will be taking a temporary leave from my School Notes column until at least Sine Die.

My replacement, Lindsay Powers, will be taking over the column starting in February. Lindsay previously wrote about education in Montgomery County, so shell be ready to jump in and illuminate all of the relevant issues in the Frederick County realm of education.

Until then, continue to tweet @jbeowulf with both ideas of coverage that are both education and county government related. If I cant write about them, I would imagine someone will.
