The remarkable declines of the last two Iowa caucus winners: Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum

The Daily Show - Mike Huckabee"s Food-Based Politics

Update: Huckabee didn"t even make it past Iowa -- the state he won in 2008 -- tweeting just prior to 10:30 p.m. Eastern on Monday night that he will be suspending his campaign.

Huckabee was getting 1.8 percent of the vote -- slightly more than the 1 percent Santorum had at the time getting.

Please indulge a bit of a cliche here to quickly communicate a point.

Time does indeed change almost everything. The much-debated but short list of those expected to win or claim one of the top places in Monday"s Iowa caucuses offers us just a bit more proof that this is often true.

Most political observers anticipate that, on the Democratic side, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton or Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will emerge victorious from the caucuses. On the Republican side, it"s pretty widely agreed-upon that New York businessman Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) will claim the top prize. This set of most likely possibilities would, as you have no doubt by now heard, seem to reveal something about the mood of the electorate and its embrace of "outsider" anti-establishment candidates.

This much we can say for sure, though: The things that Iowa voters wanted in candidates in 2008 and 2012, are not, apparently, what they seek today. Consider the following.

In 2008, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee managed to win the Iowa caucuses, taking 34.4 percent of the vote, more than nine points ahead of his next competitor, Mitt Romney.

Four years later, former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) narrowly edgedRomney, earning 24.6 percent of Republican caucus-goers" votes. The results were so close that, on election night, Romney was declared the winner with what appeared to be a surplus of eight votes. A few days later, the real outcome emerged: Santorum had won the Iowa caucuses by 34 votes.

Among the reasons political commentators and reporters often identified as the cause of both the Santorum and the Huckabee victories: Each man"s overt evangelical approach to faith and political ideas.

Here are reactions from seven presidential candidates on the evening of the 2016 Iowa caucuses. (Sarah Parnass/The Washington Post)

Come 2016, that much hasn"t changed. Trump and Cruz have both made direct and targeted appeals to evangelical voters. What has changed, though, is the fact thatHuckabee and Santorum will not be on those voters" radar screens. And by this, we mean neither man is expected to claim first, second, third, fourth or even the fifth place in Monday"s caucuses. They currently stand in seventh and 11th places, respectively, according to the Real Clear Politics average of polling. Their combined share of the vote? Five percent.

Politics is certainly a business in which timing is everything. How a candidate fares is often dependent upon who they are running against and what voters are looking for at that particular time. Back in 2008 and 2012, Huckabee and Santorum clearly had what certain voters were looking for. This time around, they aren"t even making the debate stage.

Four years is a long time in politics.

MSNBC: "Explosive Revelations" Still To Come In Hillary Email Saga [VIDEO]

Bernie Sanders" Unconventional Rise To The White House | Morning Joe | MSNBC

4882165

MSNBCs Joe Scarborough said that there are more explosive revelations to come out of the Hillary Clinton email saga on top of the announcement that there were 22 top secret emails on Clintons serverFriday.

Monday on Morning Joe, panelist and Bloomberg Politics managing editor Mark Halperin said that even if Bernie Sanders loses todays Iowa caucus he can go forward with lots of money, with debates on the schedule and see are there are developments in the legal front that allow him to start to win even after tonight if he doesnt win.(VIDEO: MSNBC: FBIs Hillary Investigation Far More Advanced Than Public Knows)

Halperin argued, Theres an undefined element in [the Democrats]campaign that will impact the campaign sooner or later and thats whats going to happen in the Justice Department. I mean, you can just sense among Democrats theyre right on the edge of their seats trying to figure out what will happen and what determining factor thats going to play in the nomination process.(RELATED: Reports: Some Of Hillary Clintons Emails Are Too Damaging To National Security To Release)

Scarboroughthen toutedhis claim from last Friday morningabout how there were more revelations.

By the end of the day Friday, the State Department announced that they were unable to release 22 of Clintons emails because they would compromise national security if they were released, even in part.(RELATED: Rep. Issa: FBI Would Like To Indict Both Huma [Abedin] And Hillary Clinton)

Halperin added that there are more problems with [Clintons]emails, more questions about how it was handled. Look, the legal calendar, we dont know what it is. We know the political calendar, Bernie Sanders announced yesterday hes raised $20 million this month. Hes forced Secretary Clinton to agree to more debates into the spring. So Bernie Sanders, even if he loses here tonight can go forward with lots of money, with debates on the schedule, and see are there are developments in the legal front that allow him to start to win even after tonight if he doesnt win here.(RELATED: State Dept. Records Show John Kerry Sent Hillary A SECRET Email From His iPad)

Everybody in the government, everybody in the media, everybody that runs anything is talking about how advanced this investigation is, and nobodys telling the American people about it, Scarborough argued. So I had an executive in another network ask, Is it safe to talk about it now? So we talked about it. And then that afternoon, explosive revelations came out, and there are more.(RELATED: Four Sid Blumenthal Emails In Latest Clinton Release Are COMPLETELY Classified)

Panelist John Heilemann added, And Ill tell you, to me the most interesting thing about that is that in the last 48 hours when Bernie Sanders has been asked about the Hillary Clinton email thing, having famously in the debate a few months ago said, Dont worry about it. No one wants to hear about your emails. Asked about it a couple of days ago, he said, Oh, I dont think its irrelevant at all, theres a process playing out here. Bernie Sanders now edging towards kind of retracting his Nobody cares about your dam emails thing. You can easily imagine Sanders not attacking her personally on this but him now saying, Hey look, this is something we have to think about and bring into a discussion in a more active way."

When Bernie Sanders is hearing from top leaders in the Obama administration that this is further along than expected, he doesnt want to be caught saying its not a big deal and then having the FBI suggest it is, Scarborough said. (VIDEO: Bernie Sanders Says Hes Tired Of Hearing About Hillarys d**n Emails)

Another Morning Joe panelist, Mike Barnicle insisted, Theres just too much buzz around it from all different levels of government, media, and everything to ignore it, and Bernie is no longer ignoring it. (VIDEO: Bernie Sanders: Hillary Clinton Is The Problem)

Megan McKenna: I"m being stalked by Harry Styles look-alike

Harry Styles can"t find his car at LAX, mobbed by paparazzi & fans

Megan McKenna

"Celebrity Big Brother" star Megan McKenna says she is being stalked by an "ugly Harry Styles".

Megan McKenna says she is being stalked by an "ugly Harry Styles".

The "Celebrity Big Brother" star has reported the man - who apparently bears a likeness to the One Direction heartthrob - to police because she says he"s been following her for the past week to various locations around London and is "freaking" her out.

Taking to her Snapchat account last night (31.01.16), the brunette stunner uploaded a photograph of her alleged pursuer outside London club Cafe de Paris and branded him "an ugly Harry Styles" and told her followers: "Can I just all let you now that there"s some weirdo ugly version of Harry Styles that keeps following me."

Later, she added on Twitter: "Omg guys I"m being stalked by this weirdo. Ive reported to the police!! Been following me all week. It"s freaking me out.

"He"s jumping in the back of my pictures, he made the Daily Mail last week. As I"m walking out of Cafe de Paris tonight he"s only f**king waiting for me and jumped in another picture.(sic)"

Not one to shy away from a confrontation, the "Ex On The Beach" star approached her admirer outside of the club.

She explained: "Me and my girls had a massive row with this guy outside the club. He is on another level of weirdness, he has freaked me out. So if he does make the thing [the papers] tomorrow, please can you not think I"m dating some dirty, ugly, rat, scumbag. It"s actually getting creepy now because this guy is actually stalking me on a serious level."

Adelitas Way, "Getaway" February 2016 Release of the Month

February 2016 Deals & New Gear at RevZilla.com
Fuel Music

The release schedule is heating up again, and in a pretty full month for new rock and metal offerings, the Loudwire readers have voted Adelitas Ways Getaway at the February 2016 Release of the Month.

Its was a close battle for most of the month with Lacey Sturms new solo album Life Screams putting up the biggest fight, while Steel Panthers Live From Lexxis Moms Garage and a Anvils Anvil Is Anvil both put up solid voting totals as well.

Adelitas Way got off to a great start promoting their new album as Bad Reputation debuted right here at Loudwire back in December. Frontman Rick DeJesus told us, Bad Reputation is a song I wrote about how I feel. Ive always lived my life just being who I am, and really in the past few years in rock Ive built a bit of a reputation for being myself. On tour I like to drink a little wine, smoke a little pot. Music is fun and too many in the business take it far too seriously at times.

He adds, People say Im uncontrollable, instead of taking accountability for what they are doing to help kill rock n roll. Even live shows were filled with more rules from the venues down to the bands we toured with. It was bullst, and I hated what I was seeing happening to what was once the most rebellious group of humans I had ever seen. I have a bad reputation for not giving a fk, always enjoying myself, and always being a advocate for rock n rolltill the end. I wrote the song because thats who I am and how I feel.

The Getaway album was produced by acclaimed hard rock producer Johnny K. DeJesus recently told the Sun Herald, Hes one of the best in the game and thats why I keep going back to him. Its not all roses and pixie dust. He beat me up on the lyrics and made me go back and correct myself. The sound is fantastic. The band pushed itself, and now its up to the world. The reaction early is its a hit with single sales, and its flying up the radio charts.

Fans can also look for the 2015 radio hit I Get Around making an appearance on Getaway. The set also features such standouts as Good Die Young, Put You in Place and more. Getaway drops Feb. 26 and is currently available for pre-order via Amazon. Look for Adelitas Way hitting the road in support of the album at these locations.

Once again, congrats to Adelitas Way. The bands Getaway album has been voted as the February 2016 Release of the Month.

More bad news for El Chapo and his Sinaloa drug cartel

Inside El Chapo’s Escape Tunnel

US and Mexican drug enforcement authorities just announced that they captured several gang members in a raid that took place near the Arizona border with Mexico, according to Reuters, the Guardian, and others.

The operationdubbed Mexican Operation Diablo Express, per reportsbrought in about two dozen people allegedly connected to the deadly Sinaloa drug cartel. It took place in an area known for being a drug-running corridor. Reuters notes:

Operating around Sonoyta, a Mexican city along the border with the US state of Arizona, the Sinaloa cartel has smuggled millions of pounds of illegal drugs, millions of US dollars and weapons between the two countries, ICE said.

Two were killed in the raid, according to reports.

All this comes not long after Mexican authorities re-arrested Sinaloa leader Joaqun El Chapo Guzman, following his 2014 escape from prison and in the wake of his bizarre interview with actor Sean Penn that got him caught.

And while both Mexico and the US have been having larger and increasingly mainstream conversation about the decriminalization of drugs, the arrests show that those discussions arent happening in a vacuum.

Authorities claim to have recovered several automatic weapons; a failed effort earlier this month to recapture Guzman left five people dead, and Mexicos marine force recovered two armored vehicles, eight long guns, one handgun and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.
