[Vinesauce] Vinny - Nintendo Direct 3.3.2016: Commentary
KYOTO, Japan, March 4 (UPI) -- During its Nintendo Direct presentation Thursday, Nintendo announced a number of new titles including Paper Mario: Color Splash and Star Fox Guard.
Revealed as the next entry in its popular Paper Mario series, Color Splash features the famous Italian plumber visiting Prism Island, which has been drained of all its color.
It"s up to Mario to use his trusty new paint hammer to bring color back to the once vibrant Island. Other Mario characters including Toad and Peach are also set to make an appearance. Color Splash was given no firm release date but is expected to launch in 2016 for the Nintendo Wii U.
Star Fox Guard meanwhile surprised fans of of the long-running aerial combat series when it was announced as an extra add-on game to be packaged with the company"s upcoming Star Fox Zero.
Starring Grippy Toad, the uncle of Star Fox mainstay Slippy Toad, Guard is the finished version of game designer Shigeru Miyamoto"s Wii U tech demo Project Guard, which was first unveiled at E3 2014.
The game, which utilizes the Wii U"s GamePad controller, will have players protecting outposts by using a series of surveillance cameras as waves of enemies pour in. Guard is set to launch on the Wii U alongside Star Fox Zero on April 22.
Other notable titles revealed during the Nintendo Direct include Pocket Card Jockey, a horse racing game from Pokmon developer Game Freak for the Nintendo 3DS and the long awaited western release of Monster Hunter X, now known as Generations also for the 3DS.
The fourth season of Netflixs House of Cards includes a storyline thats eerily similar to the current imbroglio involving GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. [Spoilers]
House of Cards, the series that helped transform Netflix into the original content juggernaut that it is today, has always benefited from its creators unique foresight. On the same day that the third season of Beau Willimons show premieredone that featured a Putin-esque villain going toe-to-toe with President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey)leading Putin critic Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on the streets of Moscow.
The fourth season dropped March 4th at midnight, less than an hour after the conclusion of a particularly rowdy GOP debate in Detroit, Michigan.
During the debate, leading contender Donald Trump was asked by Fox News moderator Chris Wallace how he feels about the Ku Klux Klan, white supremacists, and former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke, whod recently endorsed Trump for president. If you think its bonkers that this question even needs to be asked in 2016, well, youre not alone, but Trump forced the issue by first off-handedly disavowing the endorsement in a presser (saying I disavow, without naming the offending party, or why), followed by a particularly troubling exchange with CNNs Jake Tapper wherein Trump refused to disavow Dukes endorsement, dodging the question by claiming to not know who Duke wasdespite history saying otherwise.
I totally disavow the Ku Klux Klan, I totally disavow David Duke, Ive been doing it now for two weeks, Trump replied on Thursday night.
Well, during the third episode of House of Cards fourth season, President Underwood finds himself in a similar pickle with the KKK. Its primary day in Underwoods home state of South Carolina, and after giving a rousing speech about unity in a predominantly black church, a defaced billboard emerges displaying a blown-up photo of Underwoods father, Calvin Underwood, posing with a hooded member of the KKK. Its accompanied by the words, Underwood 2016.
Who put this up and why? Who knows, Democratic presidential rival Heather Dunbar, a likely suspect, tells the news. And the sins of the father arent necessarily the sins of the son, but its troubling. Very troubling. Stunts like these have the potential to open old wounds. We cant let them happen. We need to rise above it, make clear that no matter who you support, that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
President Underwood admits that the photo is real, but invents a storythat may or may not be trueof how his father wasnt in the Klan, but was forced to pose for the photo to secure a loan to save the family farm.
In addition to the David Duke hullabaloo, painting Underwoods father as a man with connections to the Klan is even more shocking when you consider that Donald Trumps father, Fred Trump, was arrested in 1927 following a KKK riot in Queens.
According to The Washington Post, On Memorial Day 1927, brawls erupted in New York led by sympathizers of the Italian fascist movement and the Ku Klux Klan. In the fascist brawl, which took place in the Bronx, two Italian men were killed by anti-fascists. In Queens, 1,000 white-robed Klansmen marched through the Jamaica neighborhood, eventually spurring an all-out brawl in which seven men were arrested. One of those men was Fred Trump of 174-24 Devonshire Rd. in Jamaica.
Its not clear from the context what role Fred Trump played in the brawl, continued the piece. The news article simply notes that seven men were arrested in the near-riot of the parade, all of whom were represented by the same lawyers.Update:A contemporaneous article from the Daily Star notes that Trump was detained on a charge of refusing to disperse from a parade when ordered to do so.
Despite several uncovered newspaper clippings from the time saying otherwise, Trump vehemently denied the arrest, telling The Daily Mail, He was never arrested. He has nothing to do with this. This never happened. This is nonsense and it never happened.
As for how that billboard got defaced, well, youll have to tune in to House of Cards fourth season to find out.
ABC has renewed all of Shondalands current dramas, which occupy the networks popular TGIT Thursday night programming block.
Greys Anatomy, which in its 12th season has been toutedas one of the medical dramas best seasons yet, will return for Season 13;Scandal has been renewed forSeason 6; andHow To Get Away with Murderwill be back with Season 3.
Although Scandal and Murder have seen significant declines in their numbers this season, the dramas are still steady performers and have huge social media followings, trending on Twitter every Thursday night. The two Shonda Rhimes-produced shows have become magnets for the network. Plus, both boast big star-power in Kerry Washington and Viola Davis, who won the Emmy this past year for her work on the show, becoming the first black woman to walk away with the best drama actress statue.
Greys, on the other hand, has sustained a huge audience with the largest viewership of all three TGIT shows an impressive feat for a series in its 12th season. Following the shocking death of Patrick Dempseys Derek Shepherd in Season 11, the long-running medical drama has seemed to experience a creative surge, finding new life with compelling storylines that some critics say are better than ever.
Shondalands fourth drama on the schedule, The Catch, premieres March 24 on ABC, taking place of HTGAWM when it ends its sophomore run.
Prince Rocks Out during the Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show | NFL
Want to feel like you actually have something in common with Prince? He, like you, is a big fan of Steph Curry.
[Walt Frazier is the latest NBA legend to say hed defend Steph Curry better]
At a recent concert atOaklands Paramount Theatre, the musician/extraterrestrial said,What can you truly count on besides Steph Curry? And you can count on Steph Curry.
With Prince set to perform in Oakland again on Friday, this time at Oracle Arena, perhaps it should have been no surprise that he turned up at the venue a day early to check out the Warriors-Thunder game. Then again, its always a surprise to see Prince doing things that humans do.
Okay, most humans dont stroll onto an NBA court with a supermodel (in this case, Damaris Lewis) anda sparkly cane, but its close enough. Naturally, the crowd at Oracle Arena gave his Purpleness a standing ovation when he entered (also something most humans, even NBA players, dont experience).
Is that him in the bottom left of the Vine below, enjoying Curry putting a clown suit on Kevin Durant? The big hair says yes!
Of course, no discussion of Prince and basketball would be complete without a Chappelles Show reference or two.
Prince really does have game, enough to have played for his Minneapolis high school basketball team. Nice to see that the decades may have passed, but the fro remains.

Golden State Warriors vs Orlando Magic - Full Game Highlights | Feb 25, 2016 | NBA 2015-16 Season
OAKLAND The question was whether the Golden State Warriors can become the first team to finish a regular season undefeated at home, but Draymond Green, being Draymond Green, breezed past possibility and went straight for bold certainty.
He didn"t wait to be asked for a prediction. Green is 230 pounds of kinetic energy, a force helping to reshape the pro game by occasionally playing center with great success at 6-foot-7, with a matching All-Star personality that slows for no man.
Can the Warriors go 41-0?
"I think so," he told NBA.com. "We"ve been phenomenal at home. We"ve protected our home court. I think it"s possible for us to do it."
Most home wins, single season in NBA history Team Season Wins Boston Celtics * 1985-86 40 Golden State Warriors * 2014-15 39 Cleveland Cavaliers 2008-09 39 Chicago Bulls * 1996-97 39 Chicago Bulls * 1995-96 39 Orlando Magic 1994-95 39 Boston Celtics 1986-87 39
And then, without prompting:
"I think we will."
He thinks they will go an entire regular season without losing at Oracle Arena.
"I do," Green said.
The Warriors love being in hot pursuit of history -- embracing the chase of the single-season record of 72 wins set by the 1995-96 Bulls, as Stephen Curry runs down amazing individual marks, amid the chance to tie Chicago with a 44th consecutive home victory, set over two seasons, when the Oklahoma City Thunder come to crackling Oracle Arena on Thursday (TNT, 10:30 p.m. ET). But this is going for perfection.
This is going for 41-0 when no team has done better than the 40-1 by the 1985-86 Celtics with five future Hall of Famers, losing only to the Portland Trail Blazers in December, and then going 10-0 in the playoffs at Boston Garden as part of cementing a place among the all-time great squads. Others also had one loss, but in the days before an 82-game schedule.
I think because we have 17 of the last 24 at home everybody"s looking at it like, "Ah, can they do that?" That"s a goal of ours, for sure.
--Warriors forward Draymond Green on the prospect of going 41-0 at home.
The Warriors of 2015-16 are 25-0 after escaping the Atlanta Hawks in overtime Tuesday with Curry and Andre Iguodala sitting with minor injuries. The best home start in franchise history, as part of a 54-5 mark and pace to win 75 games, has become a renewed focus with Golden State back home after a road-heavy February. The Warriors are one game into a closing schedule that features 17 of the final 24 contests at Oracle.
The interest in 41-0 will increase with the Warriors will barely leaving Northern California the next seven weeks, an aid to playoff preparations as the first round draws closer and the race continues with the San Antonio Spurs -- who are also undefeated at home (29-0) -- for No. 1 in the Western Conference. Interest in everything Golden State will be increasing, of course, but to have a chance at an undefeated Oracle slate is no longer far in the distance.
It"s in front of them all the time. And it"s possible.
"Sure," said coach Steve Kerr, a guard on the Chicago team that went 39-2 twice in a row as part of setting the record with 44 in a row. "It"s pretty hard to do. A lot of things have to go right. We"ve had a couple games this year that we probably should have lost at home. But it"s not anything we think about or talk about."
Maybe not the 44 consecutive, the mark the Warriors can tie against the Thunder. But Green said the shot at 41-0 has "absolutely" come up.
"I think because we have 17 of the last 24 at home," he said, "everybody"s looking at it like, "Ah, can they do that?" That"s a goal of ours, for sure."
Best single-season home win percentage, NBA history Team Season Record Win pct. Boston Celtics 1985-86 40-1 .976 Rochester Royals 1949-50 33-1 .971 Syracuse Nationals 1949-50 31-1 .969 Minneapolis Lakers 1949-50 30-1 .968 Washington Capitols 1946-47 29-1 .967
The Thunder, Magic, Jazz, Trail Blazers (twice), Suns, Pelicans, Knicks, Clippers, Mavericks, 76ers, Wizards, Celtics, Timberwolves, Spurs and Grizzlies stand between Golden State and regular-season home perfection. Sixteen games against 15 opponents with a combined .492 winning percentage entering Wednesday night.
"It would be crazy," guard Leandro Barbosa said. "It would be amazing. How tough it is to do that type of thing. I"ve been in the league for 13 years and this is my first time in that kind of situation. I"m very surprised (with) what we"re doing. But at the same time I"m very happy. We"re just letting go. We"re just playing the game and having fun."
The Warriors lost twice at home in the 2014-15 regular season, to the Bulls in overtime and to the Spurs, and twice more in the playoffs, to the Grizzlies in the Western Conference semifinals and the Cavaliers in The Finals. Golden State"s last Oracle defeat was June 7, 2015, nearly nine months ago, and the last in the regular season was to Chicago on Jan. 27, 2015.
