"Vice Principals" Premiere Recap: My Enemy"s Enemy

Vice Principals: Tease #2 (HBO)

Vice Principals premiered on HBO Sunday night. The new series is about two vice principals, played by Danny McBride and Walton Goggins, who are vying for the same job as head principal.

McBride stars as Neal Gamby, a down-on-his-luck man who is not much liked by either his co-workers or family. Gambys nemesis is Lee Russell, played by Goggins. Russell is an effeminate man who seems to have everything going for him, as he is liked by all.

When the schools principal (Bill Murray) leaves to tend to his sick wife, the superintendent hires an outside principal by the name of Dr. Belinda Brown. Dailytimes | Martial law supporters must be punished: Fazlur Rehman

Police Seeking to Enact Martial Law

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) President Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has said that people who put pro-martial law posters on display across the country must be punished. Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, the JUI-F chief said that inviting martial law in the country was tantamount to treason.

Some elements are trying to make the army chief controversial by putting pro-martial law posters and banners on display across the country, he said. Rehman said the task of preparing terms of reference for the judicial commission on the Panama leaks should be given to the courts if the opposition parties fail to do this. There is no need to come out on the streets on the ToRs issue, he added. The JUI-F chief said that closure of the French embassy in Ankara and then consulate in Istanbul pointed to a conspiracy against the Turkish government. He praised the Turkish people for foiling the military coup and said they made history by taking to the street in support of democracy. He said the way the US media broadcast the failed coup proved that it was a conspiracy. He however said there was no chance of a Turkey-like attempt in Pakistan.

Qandeel Baloch, Angelina Jolie, and the Cattiness of (Muslim) Women

Qandeel Baloch Father Exclusive Interview On Neo News

The murder of provocative and seductive Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch, killed by her brother in an honor killing, is tragic, but not surprising as it took place in a country that frowns upon Muslim women physically exposing themselves.

But when reflecting more about her life and popularity on social media, a pretty clear thought emerges: the criticism Qandeel faced most often came from women (and sometimes the ultra conservative religious men).

In a survey of interviews Qandeel gave, she appears to be interviewed by women, and appearing as a guest along side other women, or by a mufti wearing his head topee, glasses and a beard speaking about Islam. More often than not, though, the muftis tend to be relatively calm and respectful. But the women almost always really went after her, harshly.

In this interview Qandeel gave in March of this year, she was viciously attacked by two women with no clear direction as to the logic of their criticism of Qandeel. The host of the show opens with judgements made about Qandeels actions (referring specifically to her provocative video messages she posts online), and it was clear that the other female guest was there to essentially support these angry critiques of Qandeel. The two women towards Qandeel sounded, well, catty. This interview was just part of a broader trend, whereby most harsh criticism of Qandeel came from women.

But there is a lesson that can be learned here, as it could have when a few weeks ago, Angelina Jolie spoke at a mosque about the Syrian refugee crisis. What resulted were many posts and articles that then condemned Muslim men for preventing women from having greater access to these types of panels and giving the same respect and platform to Muslim women as a non-Muslim white woman. And yet, nowhere was the conversation turned toward the pressures that Muslim women face by other Muslim women. Maybe, perhaps, its not always the men who make women voiceless in our societies but the women too from within these communities.

I live in a small town, but have several active Muslim communities nearby. A while ago, an attractive, articulate, well dressed and accomplished Muslim woman visited our community (she was related to another community member) with an interesting experience working in Africa. She often speaks at other panels around the globe, so we invited her to speak at the mosques womens committee. Her talk, as we expected, was inspiring and we felt it important to have her speak in front of the entire community. We wrote upthe request and the all male board approved of it. But, as we started to plan the event, many Muslim women started to protest. Will she wear a longer skirt and hijab when she speaks? No sister should speak in front of other men! No sister, we must guard ourselves as Muslim women and not do things to attract the Muslim men. And so the criticism started. Was the concern that this woman was doing something they couldnt, wouldnt or didnt do? Or that maybe other men may take pride in her success, or even, gasp, find her attractive, accomplished or more? Were these womenthreatened?!

Then it occurred to me. How many of us, women, in our own communities, could speak up and be part of panels and be actively engaged in community discussions and yet are prevented from doing so because of protests that come from other Muslim women who feel we should not do things to attract other men?

Yes, no doubt, misogyny exists globally in Muslim communities. I mean, for Gods sake, Qandeels own brother murdered her to protect his familys honor (but praise for her father for turning his own son in). But women could have been less catty toward her, and not always demean her. It appears their criticism was simply because shes an attractive, sexy, bold, confident woman who attracts many men and has the guts to do something they may not be able to. Women like her who push bounds should be protected regardless of other womens own approval of her actions. Similarly, micro level mosque communities, and the women within them, could also stop with the cattiness, preventing their own women from getting up on stage, regardless of what they wear, how attractive they are, or how confident and smart they sound.

In all honestly, I sometimes believe that the progress of Muslim women is slowed down by our own Muslim women and quite frankly needs to stop.

There are currently no comments highlighted.

Will Power"s win at Toronto sets up mad dash to IndyCar title

Cast of Power Breakfast Club Interview Power 105.1 (7/15/2016)

Will Power celebrates his victoryin Toronto. (Chris Young , The Canadian Press via AP)

TORONTO Simon Pagenaud was extremely merry for a driver just befallen by a maddening bit of racing randomness, whod lost a huge chunk of his advantage in the IndyCar points standings in the process.

Striding anonymously through the crowd departing pit road on Sunday at the Honda Indy GP, the Team Penske driver smiled and reflected on the sheer grace of his race car. He might as well have been walking to victory lane if not for the detour up the loading dock and into the paddock of the Enercare Centre. He chatted with passersby, noted how much fun hed had driving through the field late in the race, and he very much emanated the feeling that everything was still going to be all right even after teammate Will Power had won his third race in the last four, blazed into second place and reduced his points deficit from 75 to 47 with five races remaining.

Im really happy with my driving, with the car. Its just fate sometimes, you know? Pagenaud smiled. Sometimes its just not the way its going to be for you. We did everything to make it work. Pretty happy with everything, its just wow.

Probably one of my best races, but it doesnt show.

TORONTO:Power takes advantage of late caution to seize victory

What showed clearly on Sunday is that Power, the 2016 version, has matured into the type of driver who can miss the first race of the season with a misdiagnosed concussion relinquishing as much as 50 points for a possible victory at a St. Petersburg track where he has won twice and make a championship race out of it. At least. Power saw Pagenaud win three times in the first five races, but instead of succumbing to the tendencies that had scarred attempts to close out championships from 2010-2012 and remained when he finally captured a title in 2014 he managed and maintained. And that means now is no time forrunning scenarios in his head.

You dont do it. Its impossible, he said. How do you know where hes going to finish and where youre going to finish? You just have to execute week in and week out.

Yeah, you can look at the points at the end of each weekend, but its absolutely the wrong focus to be looking at points. You know your limits. You know your risks. You know what is a 50/50 move. You know when to take those risks. If youre taking them all the time, youre going to get caught out half the time or more. If you do it at a time when its necessary to take that risk, you have a good chance of pulling it off. Thats how you got to do it.

Powers win gave Team Penske seven wins in 11 races only Helio Castroneves has failed to reach victory lane and helped it claim the top three spots in the standings. Just as an ill-timed caution on Lap 58 of 85 cost Pagenaud a likely top-five spot and dropped the victory into Powers mitted hands, it also went far in preventing defending series champion and reputed late-season closer Scott Dixon from making inroads. Dixon was superior on Sunday, starting from the pole and leading 56 of the first 58 laps. But he, Pagenaud and Juan Pablo Montoya hadnt made their last necessary stop under green like most of the field when Josef Newgarden crashed out of a Turn 5 curb to impose a caution. Forced to pit under yellow, Dixon restarted 13th and raced back to eighth, but lost 23 points in the parlay. Pagenaud recouped ninth. Power, who had entered pit road a matter of seconds before the caution and was therefore able to make his service, restarted at the front of the field and held on through one final restart to beat Castroneves by 1.5 seconds. He led ten laps.

Power knows that Pagenaud will be no easy quarry.

I had that so many times where youre leading with a big lead. I mean, hes doing the right thing, Power said. Hes not being conservative. Hes there week in, week out.But just sometimes it flows your way. Like it just goes in cycles. You have good and bad runs. Its the bad days you make the most of that really wins you a championship.

EXCLUSIVE: IndyCar CEO discussesschedule, ratings and aero kits

An interesting aspect of this final segment of the title hunt is that Pagenaud and Power will utilize the same equipment and have the resources to maximize them. Now its a straight-up fight as Power vies for a second title and Pagenaud his first. Power spotted his teammate a race but has a series of tracks ahead where he has performed well. h**l restart the postponed race at Texas in fourth position, Pagenaud 15th. Pagenaud still holds the lead and feels like his luck account has been settled.

And it took this sort of run by Power to get this close.

I havent been lucky, Pagenaud said. There were talks from competitors saying it was time for me to have bad luck. Ive had my fair share. What I am really proud of is how competitive we are no matter where. So well be there.

Well give them a tough time so we can show weve been the strongest this year.

And see who gets to be happy last.

"Power" Season 3 Premiere Date: Will Tommy Or Kanan Kill Ghost?

Breakfast Club Interview 2016: The Cast Of "POWER" Talk Season 3, Sex Scenes & More

Power Season 3 episode 1 airs Sunday, July 17, at 9 p.m. on Starz(here"s how to watch online). While the Power cast and showrunner Courtney Kemp are seriously good at keeping spoilers under wraps, Omari Hardwick (who plays James Ghost St. Patrick) had a few compelling words about his character during a Facebook Live yesterday, expanding on a recent preview that suggests h**l soon be questioned by the FBI and forced to make an important decision regarding his girlfriend, Angela.

Hardwick explained why he believes Ghost has yet to make a single wise decision, except for killing Kanan. Fans can expect Ghost will be utterly panic-stricken in the Power Season 3 premiere, when he presumably finds theres a hit out for him and he may not have succeeded in killing big bad Kanan.

Where has Kanan been hiding out? Starz

Most of the finale, Ghost has not been wise. Not just putting Angela in danger, but also what hes done with Tommy by the end of Season 2. The only thing he feels is of proper wisdom would be of killing Kanan. In his mind, he"s ridden the Earth of this despicable person that he once loved and called a big brother. Everything else hes done is not wise at all. Thats why in Season 3 h**l be in such panic.

Previous comments from 50 Cent and show creator Courtney Kemp suggest the power will shift this season from Ghost to Kanan. Our perception of Ghost will change as we realize he may not be the good guy he presents himself to be, while Kanan will appear more human and vulnerable.

As much as hes trying to get rid of his ghost, hes equally trying to keep him around enough to survive everybody coming after him because the irony is that the skillset James possesses is not enough for Ghost to withstand what hes set up his life to be, which is that of the street. I would say that hes frantic, while still trying to maintain that cool collected thing hes got going on. There"s a clock that"s ticking in his head, Hardwick said.

Don"t let Ghost"s good looks fool you. Starz

With the FBI considering opening a case against Angela for mishandling her investigation, shes bound to be in a sticky situation and may have to choose between her job and her love for Ghost. However, the fallout of Tommy and Ghosts partnership may be more of a top priority for Ghost, considering Tommy knows all his secrets. If Ghost cant get on good terms with Tommy, its a life-or-death situation.

You dont know whats coming from Tommy because he is real, raw and natural. Hes not calculating or manipulative hes the most honest and most loyal character in the show, Joseph Sikora, who plays Tommy, told the New York Post. The only question is, will he be all of that this season?

Now that Tommy is on Kanans side, the next big question is what kind of partnership they will form. Will they both have equal parts in the business, or will Kanan just use Tommy to get back at Ghost?

It is a great thing to bring up Kanan now that Tommy is on his own, Sikora continued. Do they get together, and how strong is that unity? Does Kanan really respect Tommy? Has he ever? Does Tommy ride with Ghost or his girl Holly?

Finding the answers to those questions will be important if Ghost plans on keeping his life. Do you think Tommy has the b***s to kill Ghost? Let us know in the comments below!

Power returns July 17 on Starz.

Pokemon Go servers down for a second time infuriating trainers

Pokémon Go Server sind down│Vlog│CavemanHD

Pokemon Go players have gone into social media meltdown as servers for the wildly popular game appear to crash for a second time.

Frustrated users branded the app "unacceptable" after being met with the status message "failed login" for the last few hours when they tried to play the app.

The company"s servers also went down on Saturday after it was targeted by a hacker group - on the same day it launched in 26 new countries in Europe.

Pokemon Go players have gone into social media meltdown as servers for the wildly popular game appear to crash for a second time

The company"s servers have already struggled to cope with the overwhelming demand for the game.

Hundreds of users across Europe and the United States reported difficulties accessing the game of the noughties phenomenon or that it kept freezing.

The Pokemon Go Twitter account sent out a message on Sunday saying: "The issues causing the server problems have been identified.

"Trainers should once again be able to search for Pokmon in the real world."

However players were still complaining that they were encountering glitches and being met with the message: "Our servers are experiencing issues. Please come back later."

Others who managed to access the augmented reality app added that they encountered errors while exploring the game"s world.

Players on Twitter questioned whether the company"s technical system could handle the global launch and expressed their frustration at the prolonged issues.

One user with the handle @paradigmstyles said on Twitter: "why would you release it in 26 countries if you already can"t take care of the server issues? #PokemonGO"

The account Longmankind added: "Server situation in #PokemonGO is getting to the point of me not wanting to play anymore. Unacceptable!"

Players on Twitter questioned whether the company"s technical system could handle the global launch and expressed their frustration at the prolonged issues.

Pokemon GO News, the community Twitter account for the app said they were aware of the login issues, and claimed several hours later that the issues had been resolved for Android and iOS phones.

They said: "We have received reports of #PokemonGO login issues. Hopefully this is only a temporary step for new regional releases.

"#PokemonGOplayers have reported being able to login on both Android and iOS devices. Additional server issues may persist."

On Saturday fans around the world were left indignant after the company"s servers were taken down by a hacker group.

PoodleCorp, a relatively new and unknown hacker group comprised of six members, claimed responsibility for the servers being down for an extended period of time on Saturday.

It claimed to have taken down Niantic"s servers with a DDoS attack at around 9am.

Posting on social media at about the same time gamers first started to report problems, they said: "PokemonGo #Offline #PoodleCorp".

On Saturday fans around the world were left indignant after the company"s servers were taken down by a hacker group

They later retweeted an account which said: "Just was a lil test, we will do something on a larger scale soon."

The attack came just hours afterthe app was launched in 26 new countries in Europe on Saturday - including Austria, Greece, Iceland, Poland and Sweden.

But app developer Niantic say the crash is due to an overwhelming number of downloads.

DDoS attacks are a primitive form of hacking using botnets - networks of computers that hackers bring under their control by getting users to inadvertently download software, typically by following a link in an email or agreeing to download a corrupted file.

These botnets are then used to bombard the servers with simple requests for information carried out simultaneously, causing them to become overwhelmed and shut down.

Niantic"s servers had already proved themselves vulnerable after they crashed several times on their own simply due to the unexpected demand for the game.

Despite the claim from PoodleCorp, Niantic has refused to confirm or deny the attack took place.

WHAT IS POKEMON GO?

Pokemon Go is a free game "augmented reality" app that you can download for your iOS or Android smartphone.

The game asks players to wander their real-world neighborhoods on the hunt for the animated monsters made famous years ago by cartoons, video games and trading cards. Players build their collections, make their Pokemon more powerful and do battle with those held by other players.

The app displays your avatar amid a grid of streets and other bits of geography, such as rivers and parks.

Look around and you"ll see floating light-blue blocks that signify "Pokestops," landmarks that could be anything from the entrance to a park to fancy stonework on a building. Tagging these spots with your phone earns you "Pokeballs," which you can use to throw at, and ultimately collect, Pokemon, along with other items.

The actual Pokemon - there are 128 initially listed in your profile"s "Pokedex" - also appear on your grid from time to time. Tapping on them brings them up on your screen, allowing you to fling your Pokeballs at them. The idea is to bop them on the head and capture them inside the ball.

Fair warning, some Pokemon are easier to hit than others. Some can escape from Pokeballs, forcing you to re-capture them.

The app makes it look like the Pokemon are right in front of you by using your phone"s camera to capture an image of the street and display the Pokemon on top of it. This has resulted in some pretty funny pictures on social media.

But the augmented reality feature also makes it tougher to hit the Pokemon, because you have to point the phone at the beast"s supposed location. Turning the feature off by flipping the switch in the top right-hand corner of the screen puts Pokemon right in the middle of the screen, making them easier targets.

While it"s great that people are out walking and exploring, a lot of them are also walking - often the busy streets of big cities like New York - with their heads down and eyes glued to the screens.

This has prompted worries about people walking into traffic, trespassing onto private property or finding themselves in unsafe situations. Many players are children, raising the anxiety level.

Some real-world locations aren"t so keen on attracting players, either.

Operators of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland have asked that their site be removed from the game, saying that playing it at the former n**i German death camp would be "disrespectful." The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Arlington National Cemetery have also asked visitors to refrain from playing.
