Jahvid Best"s football career might be over but his Olympic dreams are about to be fulfilled.
Best, a former high school sprinter, has been approved to run the 100 meters for Saint Lucia"s Olympic track and field team. Best has a Saint Lucian father who holds dual citizenship.
"When I think [about] the road I have traveled to get here I get tons of emotions. A couple of years ago my lifetime dream was crushed," Best told NBC. "I was devastated, but I never stop dreaming and believing in myself. My family has instilled a lot of values that has enabled me to persevere through it all."
The former Detroit Lions running back met the Olympic qualifying standard of 10.16 seconds. Best registered a personal-best of exactly 10.16 in the 100 meters on April 2, according to NBC Sports. Despite reaching the qualifying time, Best had to wait until he was given the green light on representation.
"This is a huge accomplishment for me, but at the same time this is just the beginning. I have only been in this sport for two years professionally, and plan on being around for a long time," Best explained. "Above all else I"m excited to get out there and make my country and family proud!"
His personal-best mark wouldn"t have made the 100-meter final at the recent U.S. Olympic Trials.
Best"s NFL career ended after just two seasons due to concussions. The Lions drafted Best in the first-round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of California.
It"s good to see him continue his track and field career after his football one was cut short.

With 26 Olympic medals, including 22 golds, Phelps stepped on the blocks knowing that win or lose, he had achieved more than would have seemed possible in 2000, when he was a lantern-jawed 15-year-old finishing fifth in his first Olympic final.
I think the biggest thing for me is Ive kind of been able to finish the way I wanted to, he said. Ive been able to come back, and Ive been able to accomplish things that I just dreamt of.

Adrienne Bailon is engaged!
The Real co-host announced on Friday that boyfriend Israel Houghton had asked for her hand in marriage, and she showed off her massive engagement ring on social media.
Kudos to Houghton for picking one of the most romantic spots to pop the question. The couple have been vacationing throughout Europe, and it appears Houghton proposed in France. Bailon, 32, shared a video of her new diamond ring and sparkling just as brightly in the background was the Eiffel Tower lit at night.
The former Cheetah Girl and Houghton went public with their relationship in April, months after Bailon ended her seven-month engagement to Lenny Santiago, who proposed in February 2015.
You. Me. Oui.

In his own lengthy celebratory Instagram post, Houghton defended his fiance following the criticism the pair faced early in their romance. Back in March, Houghton had slammed cheating allegations that were prompted by his announcement to divorce his wife of 20 years just one month before he was photographed vacationing with Bailon in Mexico.
"I have seen and felt the essence of Gods grace through the life, the kindness and the courage of this woman. I"ve seen her attacked. Lied about, Wrongfully accused, Mocked. Laughed at, and misunderstood. But I"ve also seen the shining example of the eagle she is that rises above the cacophony of the noise of ignorants," Houghton captioned a photo of Bailon"s engagement ring.
"I"ve taken a giant leap of faith in asking her to share life with me forever and to give me a shot at getting it right this time," he continued, adding, "She has graciously granted my request... She said yes. Thanks Be To G*d. Thank you @adriennebailon for graciously loving me."
