Jennifer Lawrence tops list of highest paid actresses in the world once again

Jennifer Lawrence Tops Hollywood"s Highest-Paid Actresses

Forbes has released its list of the highest-paid actresses of the yearand surprise, surprise J-Law tops the list once again in 2016, marking the second year in a row that she raked in more cash than any other female film star.

Related: Check out the highest paid actors from around the world for 2015

Forbes tallied gross pay from June 1, 2015 through June 1, 2016 and the Hunger Games star took home a whopping $46 million during that span. Thats less than she brought home last year, but still $13 million more than the second entrant on the list, Melissa McCarthy.

Apart from the top five highest paid actresses above, other notable superstarleading ladies this yearinclude: Charlize Theron ($16.5 million), marking her first time back on the list in three years; Amy Adams ($13.5 million); Julia Roberts ($12 million); Mila Kunis ($11 million); and first-time entrant, Indian film actress Deepika Padukone ($10 million). Falling off the top-10, however, were Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, and Kristen Stewart. Kunis is an interesting entrant, clearly raking in big bucks for films likeBad Moms, which was released not long after Forbes tally period, as well as her long-time (and apparently lucrative) gig voicing the character of Meg Griffin on the long-runninganimated seriesFamily Guy.Not bad for the former Jackie Burkhardt fromThat 70s Show.

William Shatner Already Sounds More Interested In Being On The New Star Trek Show

William Shatner on The Talk (Feb 18th, 2016)

The premiere of Star Trek: Discovery is getting closer as we speak, and as we learn more and more about the new series Trek fans can"t help but wonder if William Shatner will make an appearance. Now, it sounds like Shatner may be more open to the idea than before. Here"s what he had to say this time about the possibility of working on the show:

Am I up for it? I"ll get up. If I said, "I hardly think so," that would be the beginning of negotiations. If I were asked, I might consider it.

William Shatner spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his thoughts on appearing on Star Trek: Discovery, and it sounds like the _Trek _legend is far more open to a gig on the new series than he was a couple of weeks ago when asked about reprising Captain James T. Kirk on the show. The last time he spoke about it, he made it clear that he wouldn"t want to show up on _Discovery_ just as a token nod to long-time Trek fans and the original series. Shatner noted that he wanted to be useful to the series, but now, well it just sounds as though he"d like to be asked.

He was coy about his answer at first, joking that he"d "get up" for the part if need be and saying that if played hard to get it would make the producers of Star Trek: Discovery want him even more. And, honestly, he might be right about that last part. It seems like getting to play your famous character again on a new show set in the same universe could be a lot like dating. If you"re actively looking for opportunities, they don"t really come to you, but as soon as you say "Screw it, I"m just gonna do me for a while," eligible options start to peep out at you from every corner.

So, why is William Shatner suddenly sounding so much more available for playing Kirk again on Discovery? Well, the series will make its debut in January, which really isn"t that far away now, and they are surely hard at work on scripts at this very moment. Now would be the perfect time for them to figure out a way to work Shatner"s famous character into the show. Even though this new series will take place 10 years prior to the original Star Trek, there are all manner of time jumps, flash forwards and other tricks that could make an appearance possible. Even though fans may riot, there"s also a chance that he could actually play someone other than Kirk. What? All right, calm down, forget I mentioned it.

I think it"s incredibly likely that William Shatner has been mulling over the idea of Star Trek: Discovery and has simply taken a liking the the idea of being asked to be a part of the show. I"m sure having a new paid gig would be nice, but it would also be good for the new show to find a way to honor what came before, and Shatner knows that using him would be a great way for the show to do that.

Steven Hill, DA Schiff of "Law & Order," dies at 94

Steven Hill 2014 Platter throwing demo

Published: Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 9:03 p.m. Last Modified: Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 9:03 p.m.

LOS ANGELES Steven Hill, a versatile character actor in theater, films and television who achieved his greatest success late in life as grumpy District Attorney Adam Schiff on TV"s long-running "Law & Order," died Tuesday. He was 94.

He died Tuesday morning at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, his wife, Rachel, said. The cause of death was not immediately available, but his wife said he suffered from several ailments.

Hill, who also starred for a season in the 1960s series "Mission Impossible," was remembered warmly by "Law & Order" producer d**k Wolf.

"Steven was not only one of the truly great actors of his generation, he was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. He is also the only actor I"ve known who consistently tried to cut his own lines," Wolf said in a statement.

Hill, whose more than two dozen films included "Billy Bathgate," ""White Palace" and "Yentl," recalled in 1999 how his presence as "Law & Order"s" grouchy legal stickler developed gradually during his 10 years with the show.

"It was like a very pleasant back-and-forth kind of thing," he said. "I"d come up with these ideas, give suggestions on (Schiff"s) kind of thinking, and the writers used that as a kind of springboard."

He also studied up on the law to make his character more believable.

"I believe the audience needs to feel you understand what the heck you"re talking about and they can tell if you don"t," he said.

After he left the show in 2000, Hill remained visible on TV for a time as the no-nonsense pitchman in commercials for TD Waterhouse Investor Services.

Hill had honed his craft in the years immediately after World War II, taking classes at the Actors Studio in New York with Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift.

He made his Broadway debut in 1946 with "A Flag Is Born" and was in the original casts of "Mister Roberts" and "The Country Girl."

When the TV networks began broadcasting live drama programs during television"s Golden Age, Hill made the transition to the small screen seamlessly, appearing on "Studio One," ""The Ford Theatre Hour," ""Lux Video Theatre," ""Goodyear Television Playhouse" and "The Philco Television Playhouse."

Later, he appeared on shows including "thirtysomething," ""The Fugitive," ""Rawhide," ""Ben Casey," ""Dr. Kildare," ""The Untouchables" and "Route 66."

When "Mission Impossible" debuted in 1966, he landed a starring role, as undercover team leader Daniel Briggs. But he left after one season when the show"s shooting schedule interfered with his observation of the Jewish Sabbath. He was replaced by Peter Graves.

An Orthodox Jew, Hill abandoned acting for a time in the late 1960s to study religion. He said later he believed the sabbatical improved his acting ability.

He had made his movie debut in 1950 in "A Lady Without Passport" with Hedy Lamarr. Other notable films over the years included "Teachers," ""Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "Legal Eagles." He also portrayed the father of Christine Lahti in "Running on Empty," of Meryl Streep in "Heartburn" and Jill Clayburgh in "It"s My Turn."

Born Solomon Krakovsky to Russian immigrant parents in Seattle, Hill said his interest in acting was ignited at age 6, when he landed the lead in a production of "The Pied Piper of Hamelin."

He married Selma Stern in 1951 and the couple had four children before divorcing in 1964. He married his second wife, Rachel, in 1967, and they had five children together, according to the New York Times.

"Better Late Than Never" is offbeat giggle fest

Better Late Than Never Review - William Shatner, Henry Winkler, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman

Mekeisha Madden Toby, Special to The Detroit News 9:25 p.m. EDT August 23, 2016

Better Late Than Never features George Foreman, clockwise, Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Jeff Dye and Terry Bradshaw.(Photo: NBC)

Only in the wild world of reality TV would Captain Kirk and Fonzie embark on a 30-day trip around Asia together.

Thats the deal on the offbeat new series Better Late Than Never, which premieres Tuesday on NBC. Of course its not actually Kirk and the Fonz but the actors who famously played them, William Shatner and Henry Winkler, respectively. But theres still something trippy about the pair teaming up as tourists with Winkler serving as one of the shows executive producers.

Also joining in on the adventure is two-time world heavyweight champion George Foreman and NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. Lesser-known comedian and actor Jeff Dye tags along as their guide. The end result, at least as far as the pilot is concerned, is a knee-slapping giggle fest filled with predictable outings and outcomes and unexpectedly edifying factoids.

For instance, the first stop on the trip is Tokyo, Japan where the five men stay in a capsule hotel, perform karaoke, go on a Japanese game show, breathlessly gaze upon Mount Fuji and unintentionally eat pork v****a and later dirt.

In between scenes of the five wittingly and unwittingly making fools of themselves over and over again, the show splashes fun facts across the screen. This includes information such as: Tokyo is home to 35 million people, uses 24 billion chopsticks each year and has more neon signs than any city in the world.

While Better Late Than Never is clearly more scripted than it is real no matter what they say, Shatner, 85, and Foreman, 67, were not best buds before appearing on this show the late-summer offering still benefits from some truly honest moments.

When Winkler, 70, gets more attention from fans than Shatner and Shatner grows visibly envious, for example, that feels real as does former athletes Foreman and Bradshaw bonding quickly and actors Winkler and Shatner doing the same. In another scene, Shatner mocks Bradshaw for not wanting to try new foods and Bradshaw perfectly imitates the way Shatner talks and that also feels genuine. But if Bradshaw, who turns 68 in September, is afraid of heights why would anyone take him up the 1,092-foot Tokyo Tower except to exploit that fear for viewers?

Speaking of scripted scenarios, if this were a premium cable show, Shatner who is seemingly the most uninhibited wouldve been able to go full on Hangover with an obnoxious degree of debauchery expected on overseas trips. Hes playing a version of himself anyway, right? Instead, the Shats wildest moments are jumping up and down on the glass floored observation deck of Tokyo Tower and battling Bradshaw in robotic armor. Spicy. And why cast Bradshaw and Foreman? Were Craig T. Nelson and Robert Guillaume busy?

But this is NBC after all, and what the mock-reality series lacks in raciness and symmetrical casting, it makes up for with charm and easy laughs. Think The Bucket List minus the morbidness or The Real Husbands of Hollywood for the silver fox set.

After all, Winkler, Shatner, Foreman and Bradshaw have a lot of life left in them and as they prove time and time again on their show, youre never too old to laugh at yourself.

If you"re not a teenager, don"t try to understand Lil Yachty - The ...

Leaf - Nada [OFFICIAL VIDEO] ft. Lil Yachty

By Julian Kimble August 22

Youthful indifference is a major point of contention in hip-hops current climate. For rapper Lil Yachty, this quality is magnetic to one demographic and deplorable to another.

Hailing from the Atlanta suburbs, Lil Yachty has had a swift rise to stardom over the past year. Lil Boat, his debut project, was released in March; the superior Summer Songs 2 followed in July. Both display a lack of sophistication and concern with hip-hops principles infuriating and confounding offenses to purists. But, at the same time, theres a buoyant, arresting energy to Lil Yachtys music that he transmits to fellow restless youth. Two days shy of 19 at the time of Sunday nights sold-out U Street Music Hall performance, the self-proclaimed king of the teens is aware of his duality. Hes also too busy enjoying life to concern himself with the negative.

Because Lil Yachtys fans share his vigor, U Street Music Halls security team had to issue constant warnings that the show would not proceed until overeager patrons backed away from the stage. When he finally emerged, his set commenced with Intro (First Day of Summer). On this airy tone-setter, he asserts that h**l do whatever is necessary to remain the king of the youth. On Sunday night, he was the crowds voice: his distorted we are the youth! warbles spoke to their collective jubilation. This theme continued on King of the Teens, where he fashioned himself an adolescent icon.

Much of the criticism of Lil Yachty comes from the fact that he leaves nearly everything to be desired in terms of technique and skill; or, more egregiously, that he doesnt seem to care. He carries himself like he takes absolutely nothing seriously. However, if you consider that hes a disciple of jesters-c*m-Internet marketing wizards such as Soulja Boy and Lil B, Yachtys fascination with viral fame and apathy toward rules is completely understandable. Credit this attitude to the very thing that makes him absorbing: his youth.

Lil Yachtys music simply doesnt warrant the scrutiny its received. There isnt much to dissect ; its meant to be enjoyed without thought by his target audience and the young at heart. At Sunday nights show, their enthusiasm became the lens for Lil Yachtys music: a carefree vessel to soundtrack the waning days of summer. Thats what crowd favorites like Minnesota and 1Night, the fitting closer, represented. Nothing more, nothing less.
