Jewish actor Gene Wilder dead at 83

Gene Wilder, star of "Willy Wonka," dead at 83

LOS ANGELES - Actor Gene Wilder, who was born to a Jewish family and was best known for his role in the fantasy film "w***y Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" and comedic star turns in such Mel Brooks farces as "Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein," died on Monday at age 83, his family said in a statement.

Wilder, whose best work came in collaborations with director-writer Mel Brooks and actor Richard Pryor, died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications of Alzheimer"s disease, the family said in a statement.

Wilder"s nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman, said the actor had chosen to keep his Alzheimer"s secret so that children who knew him as w***y Wonka would not equate the whimsical character with an adult disease.

Wilder"s barely contained hysteria made him a go-to lead for director-writer Mel Brooks, who cast him in "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein" and "The Producers" in the 1960s, "70s and "80s.

Besides his classic collaborations with Brooks, Wilder paired memorably with comedian Richard Pryor in hits "Silver Streak" and "Stir Crazy."

Wilder also was active in promoting ovarian cancer awareness and treatment after his wife, "Saturday Night Live" comedienne Gilda Radner, whom he married in 1984, died of the disease in 1989.

He helped found the Gilda Radner Ovarian Cancer Detection Center in Los Angeles and co-founded Gilda"s Club, a support group that has branches throughout the country.

Ice Road Truckers Star Darrell Ward Dead at 52

Darrell Ward on how Optima Tax Relief resolved his IRS problems

Ice Road Truckers star Darrell Ward died in a plane crash near Rock Creek, Montana, according to Ward"s Facebook page. Ward was 52.

According to the release on Ward"s Facebook feed, he was headed back to Missoula, Montana, after meeting with fans at The Great American Truck Show in Dallas.

"An investigation is ongoing and more information will be made available at a later time as the National Transportation Safety Board will be handling they investigation," the post reads. "[The] things Darrell loved most were his family, including his kids and grand-kids & trucking."

Ward was one of two victims who passed away in the fatal aircraft accident; the co-pilot died in the wreck.

"Trucking has always been a large part of Darrell"s life; from running the harvest rigs with his grandparents and family, to driving trucks from Montana to Alaska and all roads in between," the Facebook post continued. "In his free time, you could usually find Darrell giving back to the community any chance he got, he had promoted the most recent food drive to help victims in the Louisiana Floods and was scheduled to appear as the grand marshal for the Truck Convoy for Special Olympics in Nova Scotia."

There are a lot of burning questions that need to be answered on Pretty Little Liars, but the most pressing mystery heading into the Season 7 summer finale is: Who is Mary Drake"s (Andrea Parker) missing child?There have been several clues dropped in the first half of Season 7 about who the missing Drake child could be. We know that Mary"s second child is younger than her oldest, Charlotte (Vanessa Ray), and was adopted after Mary gave birth in Radley Sanitarium -- making him or her about the Liars" age. Noel Kahn"s (Brant Daughtery) father is also the judge that approved the adoption.We"ve compiled the evidence and put together our best guesses as to who "the missing Drake" could be.Pretty Little Liars will end with Season 74. Noel Kahn Why it could be: Noel Kahn has been the main suspect as the missing Drake since he arrived back in Rosewood. His allegiance with Jenna (Tammin Sursok) and the video evidence that he helped Charlotte with the doll house doesn"t help things either. It would also be convenient since his father is the one that approved the adoption. The black hair and green eyes would make her stick out like a sore thumb. She"s also too close to obvious to be a real shocker for the fans to find out. Does Jenna have a secret? Most definitely, but it"s just hard to believe that it"s this one.Pretty Little Liars: Troian Bellisario once got into a fight with a fan over who really plays Spencer Hastings2. Spencer HastingsWhy it could be: After the Liars found out that Mary Drake had a second baby while she was in Radley, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) decided to go flipping through her family photo album. At first, it just seemed like a stroll down memory lane, but as Spencer flipped through the pages, there were no obvious photos of Spencer as a baby. Let"s face it, this wouldn"t be the first time that the Hastings have kept a secret about their children.Plus, we already know that Spencer"s father had a child with Jessica DiLaurentis -- Mary"s twin sister. Maybe he hooked up with Mary, thinking it was Jessica, and then adopted the child since he"d already given up being Jason"s (Drew Van Acker) father.Why she"s not it: The logistics make sense, but would PLL go back to the same story well if the DiLaurentis/Drake and Hastings family already have a sordid history when it comes to biological children? This definitely feels like the type of thing Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) would have brought up or rubbed in Spencer"s face in the past.Pretty Little Liars: Aria and Jason"s secret revealed!1. Aria MontgomeryWhy it could be: A.D. took two files the night they burned Jessica DiLaurentis" secret basement hideout on fire -- Noel Kahn"s and Aria Montgomery"s (Lucy Hale). We have yet to find out why Aria would be of special importance to A.D. over the other girls. If that folder confirmed that Aria was really the daughter of Mary Darke, it"d make a lot of sense why A.D. would go to such extreme lengths to stop the girls from finding out.Why she"s not it: There"s really not a lot of argument for why Aria couldn"t be the missing Drake. It would be a huge reveal that no one saw coming -- and a heartbreaking twist heading into the second half of the season. Will she still feel like walking down the aisle with Ezra (Ian Harding) if she suddenly has doubts about who she really is? Anthony Weiner"s Sexting Scandal Meets a Conflicted Media Landscape

Former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner is embroiled in yet another scandal over sexually-explicit tweets he sent to an unnamed woman while his wife, top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, was traveling with the Democratic presidential candidate.

The story has already provided plenty of fodder for tabloid newspapers and websites. But is it really relevant to the campaign, or is it just appealing to prurient interests in an attempt to drive online traffic?

The New York Post was the first to report the latest allegations, in a story that ran on Sunday. It quoted from months worth of tweets Weiner sent to a 40-something divorcee that were filled with sexual innuendo and photos of himself in his underwear, including one taken with his young son lying on the bed next to him.

Weiner has been a favorite of the tabloids ever since he was forced to resign from Congress in 2011, after sending a sexually-explicit photo to a woman on Twitter. Two years later, he ran for mayor of New York, and was again forced to quit his campaign, after reports that he had been sending n***d photos and sexually-suggestive messages to other women.

At the time, Abedin stood by her husband, but on Monday she said they were separating. Abedin has been a close Clinton aide for two decades. She worked as Clintons personal assistant during a run for president in 2008 and then as chief-of-staff while she was Secretary of State, and Clinton has said Abedin is like a second daughter.

Theres no question that Abedin plays a fairly critical role in the Clinton campaign. But does that mean her husbands behavior on Twitter are somehow relevant to coverage of the election?

Donald Trump tried to argue that Weiners sexting might be a potential threat to national security, since he might have overheard classified information from his wife that could be passed on to his sexting partners. But this seems like a stretch at best.

Some argue that reporting on Abedins marital troubles is justified because a number of media outlets recently reported on a past domestic-violence charge against Breitbart News head Steve Bannon, who is now a top advisor to the Trump campaign, and therefore Clinton and her staff are fair game.

Others have tried to make the case that if Abedin is struggling with her husbands infidelity, then it might make the Clinton campaign less effective. But that seems like more of an effort to justify being interested in a lurid sexting case than it does an actual political argument.

Unfortunately for anyone who wants to try and keep lurid or sensationalistic topics out of the campaign, however, Donald Trump has already done more than enough to lower that bar himself, without any help from Anthony Weiner or Hillary Clinton.
