NFL power rankings, Week 6: Patriots rise, Eagles fall

Matthew Stafford Guides Lions Down the Field for Another TD! | Eagles vs. Lions | NFL

32Cleveland Browns0-5Last week: L, 33-13, vs. NELast rank: 32nd

You had the feeling it could get ugly this week against the New England Patriots and a very motivated Tom Brady, making his season debut following his four-game suspension. Hue Jacksons club was outgained by 216 yards in the first half (321-105) and trailed 23-7 at intermission on the way to the 20-point setback. Rookie quarterback Cody Kessler was injured and replaced by veteran Charlie Whitehurst. The Cleveland ground attack managed a paltry 27 yards on 22 carries and the Browns attack finished with 262 yards on the afternoon. Jacksons club wound up surrendering 501 total yards on Sunday and allowed at least 30 points in a game for the third consecutive week.

Next Week: The Browns head south to Nashville to square off against a Tennessee Titans team coming off a 30-17 victory at Miami. This will mark the third consecutive year that these two franchises will square off, with Cleveland winning each of the last two meetings including a 28-14 home victory last season in Week 2.

Playoff hopes: Are you kidding? No team in NFL history has ever reached the postseason following a 0-5 start. And the Browns are chasing everyone these days given the fact that they are the lone winless team in the league. The teams biggest concern these days is who will be the starting quarterback at Nashville next Sunday against the Titans.

And the winner of the presidential debate is... Ken Bone

Who Is Ken Bone? My Hero - 2016 Second Presidential Debate LEGEND Kenneth Bone

Ken Bone.

The debate, in case you missed it, was a town hall-style affair where audience members (screened by Gallup and selected by the moderators) asked questions of the candidates. And in that group of well-behaved, articulate, truth seekers was one Mr. Bone.

His question to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton was a doozy: "What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job layoffs?"

But that wasn"t why Bone became the Internet"s insta-darling.

It"s that name. Ken Bone. Very Luke Cage-y.

It"s that power outfit: The red cardigan, the white tie, the black-rimmed glasses. People were in love.

The man behind (...in?) the red sweater

Bone spoke to CNN"s Carol Costello Monday morning about his debate fame. "I went from, last night, having seven Twitter followers, two of which were my grandmother...to now, I have several hundred," he said. "And I don"t know why they care what I have to say, but I"m glad they"re engaged in the political process."

Maybe it has to do with the fact that, at the end of proceedings, he captured the moment by whipping out... a disposable camera.

Ken Bone -- he"s no conformist. He"s the person a divided America needs right now. The man who brought some levity to the ludicrous, some vim to counter the vitriol. The only thing that was making America great again.

As Ramzy Nasrallah put it, "Was so sad and ashamed throughout the entire spectacle but then KEN BONE rose like a Phoenix from America"s ashes and there"s laughter again."

Bone was one of the undecided voters who attended the debate to get a better feel for their options come November. And Bones told CNN he actually walked away without a final verdict.

"I know people hate to hear this, but I think I might be more undecided than ever," he said. Bone said he was leaning toward Trump, but he was impressed with Clinton"s composure and looks forward to the third and final debate.

Either way, true to the internet hero he has become, he plans to use his power for good.

"I"m really glad that so much attention has come my way, if for no other reason than I can get the message out that your voice can be heard, and please get out and vote in November. If you feel like your vote doesn"t matter, it does. Make your voice heard"

The internet bursts with love

During an otherwise contentious event, Bone"s comforting demeanor was just the balm weary debate watchers needed.

"I bet Ken Bone brings roses to his wife randomly. Just because," one mused.

Within minutes, someone had created a Facebook page.

And, of course, a parody Twitter account.

And yes, an ode to his greatness.

We also all now know what we"ll be dressing as for Halloween.

So, thank you, debate organizers, for giving us someone we could all rally behind.

"Tonight I lost hope in America"s future... then I met Ken Bone," tweeted Jeff Guenther.

We could not agree more.

Postscript:

We would be remiss if we also didn"t give a shout out to Mr. Staring Man. Our apologies for not catching his name. But we certainly caught his "Do NOT B.S. me, mister" look.

Some Numbers From The Minnesota Vikings" Fast Start

Are The Minnesota Vikings For Real? | Rage of The Day

With all of Sundays results from Week 5 of NFL action in the books, the Minnesota Vikings stand alone as the last undefeated team in the league. There are a few different numbers that have a lot to do with the teams current standing, and were going to take a look at some of them here.

Obviously, the biggest story of the Vikings season to this point has been the play of the defense. After yesterdays games, the Vikings are leading the National Football League in points allowed per game, giving up just 12.6 points/contest on average. Theyre tied for the NFL lead in takeaways with 12, and are also tied for the NFL lead in sacks with 19 through their first five games.

Their 31-13 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday marked the ninth consecutive game (including the playoffs) where the Vikings have held an opponent to 17 points or less. Thats tied for the second-longest streak in team history.

(I erroneously said on the Twitters that it was tied for the longest streak in team history.)

The Vikings have had two other such nine-game streaks, one in 1971 and the other that spanned the 1974 and 1975 seasons. They have a ways to go to match the longest such streak in team history, though. The 1969 Vikings defense, probably the most dominant defense in team history, had a streak of 13 games where they allowed 17 points or less. In nine of those 13 games, the Vikings allowed 10 points or less. Here are the Vikings next five opponents and where they rank in the NFL in scoring offense.

  • Philadelphia Eagles, 28.8 points/game (3rd in NFL)
  • Chicago Bears, 17 points/game (30th)
  • Detroit Lions, 23.8 points/game (T-13th)
  • Washington Redskins, 23 points/game (16th)
  • Arizona Cardinals, 25 points/game (11th)

It will be interesting to see if this defense can keep their impressive streak going coming out of their bye week.

Lets not leave the offense completely out of this one, as theyve had a significant part in the Vikings start as well. To be more specific, the play of the quarterback position has put up a pretty impressive stat in the teams 5-0 streak. In Sam Bradfords four starts, hes completed over seventy percent of his passes and has thrown six touchdowns to no interceptions. Between Bradford and Shaun Hill, the Minnesota quarterbacks have not thrown an interception this season, having thrown 158 passes over their first five contests without having one intercepted.

According to the NFLs Stats department, this makes them just the second team since 1933 to start a season 5-0 without throwing an interception. The only other such team was the 1969 Los Angeles Rams. Rams quarterback Roman Gabriel threw an interception in his teams sixth game of the season, ending that streak. The Rams actually got off to an 11-0 start that season before losing their first game. . .to the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams finished that season with an 11-3 mark, and then lost their first game of the playoffs. . .to the Minnesota Vikings.

The fact that the Vikings have managed to do this with the cascade of injuries theyve dealt with makes it that much more remarkable. Already theyve replaced their starting quarterback (Teddy Bridgewater), their starting running back (Adrian Peterson), their starting left tackle (Matt Kalil), and their starting right tackle (Andre Smith). They also played Sundays game without their top wide receiver (Stefon Diggs), and lost their starting right guard (Brandon Fusco) midway through the first quarter. A key piece of their defensive line, tackle Sharrif Floyd, hasnt suited up since the season opener, and they played the first two games of the season without cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the NFLs best at the position.

Im not sure if a team can embody the next man up philosophy more than this Vikings team has through the first five weeks of the season, but you have to give credit to coaches Mike Zimmer, Norv Turner, and George Edwards, as well as General Manager Rick Spielman. No matter what setbacks this team faces, they just keep rolling players out there and getting results.

Theres still a whole lot of football left to be played in the 2016 season, to be certain. But if the Vikings can continue playing stifling defense and playing smart football on offense. . .and if Sam Bradford can continue to make Rick Spielman look like a genius after all the flak he took in the days following the big trade. . .fans of this team should have every reason to believe that this team will be playing deep into January.

Maybe even into the first Sunday in February, too.

What Does Ken Bone Drive?

KEN BONE FOR PRESIDENT!!! Donald Trump & Hilary Clinton in Tears! (Presidential Debate Parody)

Last night, as we all endured the pain of a dark, mean-spirited presidential debate, there was a ray of light that emerged to remind America that everythings going to be okay. A beacon of hope in a bright red sweater, brandishing the first disposable camera youve seen in a decade. A beacon of hope with the amazing name Ken Bone. So what does Ken Bone drive?

We dont know much about Ken Bone just yet, other than he has yet to commit to a presidential candidate, but has absolutely committed to a look and demeanor that America desperately needs right now. The whole deal: the name, the delivery of that rational question, that look, and, of course, the disposable camera.

Ken Bone probably has a whole collection of disposable cameras, and that one he used laste night is significant, hed tell you, because of the Minolta lens. Its the Porsche 356 of disposable cameras, hed continue, and before you knew it youd be really interested in disposable cameras. Because thats the Ken Bone magic.

So what does a guy like Ken Bone drive? Some initial Google searches bring up at least one tantalizing possibility, this 1974 Mazda RX-4 coup. Could that be our Kens car? That almost seems too much to hope for.

If I had to speculate, which I do, Id look at some key parts of what we know to be Ken Boneness: affinity for red, a comforting, un-showy demeanor, and a respect for out-of-date technology.

Thats why my guess for the Ken Bonemobile is this: a perfectly-maintained 1982 Plymouth Horizon, in red, with the red velour interior. But, since I suspect theres more to Ken Bone than we see at first glance, Im going to say that Horizon has the full drivetrain of its crazy brother, the Shelby Dodge Omni GLH Turbo, with a five-speed manual and a turbocharged 2.2 putting out a ravenous 175 HP.

Thats my best guess right now. Id love to hear what you kooks think because, you know, Im into that.

Oh, and I reached out to Mr. Bone over Twitter to ask what he actually drives, so as soon as I know, Ill be sure to update this.

Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger: Winner and Reaction from WWE No Mercy 2016

nL Live on Discord - WWE No Mercy 2016 & Post-PPV Talking Smack!

After suffering a loss to Jack Swagger on SmackDown Live, Baron Corbin bounced back with a victory over the Real American Sunday at WWE No Mercy.

WrestlingInc.com broke down how the match ended:

WWE shared an image of the finish:

The rivalry between Corbin and Swagger started a few weeks ago when the All-American American made the leap from Raw to SmackDown after it was revealed that his contract with the red brand had reached its conclusion.

Swagger stood up to the Lone Wolf during an attack on Apollo Crews, which set the wheels in motion for a feud that took center stage at No Mercy.

Prior to their clash Sunday night, however, Corbin and Swagger had a match on the go-home edition of SmackDown.

That bout came to be after Corbin talked trash about Swagger in a backstage interview, as seen in this video courtesy of WWE:

Swagger was ruled the winner of the match when the referee deemed that Corbin tapped out to the ankle lock, although he appeared to be reaching for the ropes rather than submitting.

The official"s ruling sent Corbin into a rage, as he tossed around the steel steps and dismantled the announce table in disgust:

Due to the controversy surrounding the finish, Corbin was given a rematch and an opportunity to redeem himself at No Mercy.

While the match was essentially a throw-in on a card that was already filled with high-stakes matches, it was significant for Corbin in terms of attempting to build momentum.

Even though he won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 in his first match on the main roster, Corbin has struggled to make much progress since getting called up from NXT.

He is in need of continued character development and decisive wins in some of his rivalries, and he had a chance to make a bit of headway Sunday.

The natural assumption when Swagger made the leap to SmackDown was that the veteran former world champion would put Corbin over and help him take the next step by giving him a victory over an experienced opponent.

That is precisely what happened at No Mercy, but Corbin needs much more than a single pay-per-view victory over Swagger to become a major player for the blue brand.

Beating Swagger could be a launching point for the Lone Wolf, however, the creative team must soon come up with an intriguing angle involving him to ensure that he can develop into one of SmackDown"s top heels.

Columbus Day 2016: Is Costco Or Sam"s Open? Latest Store Hours And Thanksgiving Closing Update

CS:GO - Top 5 BEST PLAYS MLG COLUMBUS DAY 2 (2016)

With Columbus Day 2016 arriving on Monday, October 9, some businesses will be closed. Those could select retailers or wholesale clubs. Many people will be wondering if Costco is open on Columbus Day and if so, what their store hours will be. Also, theres been recent news regarding the wholesale club observing the Thanksgiving holiday, which has been a recent trend for stores with the annual holiday.

Just recently, Syracuse.com reported on stores closing for Thanksgiving. The holiday is considered a big deal for some retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us, all of whom have been open to begin their big Black Friday sales deals. The report mentions that Costco will be closed along with many other retailers on Thanksgiving Day for 2016. Costcos official website also mentions this is one of the holidays they close for. The store was closed last month for Labor Day and will also be closed on Christmas. However, Columbus Day is not on their list.

For those wondering, Sams Club will also be open for the holiday. Their official website lists store hours and all of the calendar holidays. Sams will be closed on both Thanksgiving and Christmas, just like Costco. Customers will be happy to know that if theyve got a day off, they can get their shopping done at either of warehouse clubs.

The Costco wholesale website lists Monday hours of 10 a.m. through 8:30 p.m. while Sams Club lists similar hours for club members on their website, with an exception. Sams Club Plus or Business members can enjoy early shopping hours between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

While the Costco warehouse website isnt listing any particular deals exclusive to Monday, their latest coupon book shows a variety of deals available through October 23. These include electronics such as televisions, printers, laptops, phones as well as certain appliances and everyday household needs. Its unknown if the store will unveil any special deals for the Monday holiday but as of right now it appears they may only offer whats advertised online or in their latest booklet.

Of note, Columbus Day is not a day off for some states. Also, select government offices are closed because its considered a federal government holiday. As for post offices, customers will need to check with their local office for information about whether they or opened or closed Monday. Also, the brutal Hurricane Matthew that recently affected the Atlantic Coast may have also caused disruptions in post office services for some areas. These may include coastal areas in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

The Columbus Day holiday has come under scrutiny by various groups. There are some groups or states who are looking to rename the day as Indigenous Peoples Day or Native American Day instead. This is being done to take away the celebration of explorer Christopher Columbus and instead honor the people and cultures here before his and the Europeans arrival. That is said to include Native Americans. According to a recent NPR article, the state of Vermont and city of Phoenix have both joined the list of places to change the holidays name and others were already there.

Seattle is amongst cities observing Indigenous Peoples Day annually. [Image by David Ryder/Getty Images]

Seattle and Minneapolis are also amongst cities that have adopted similar laws, but Phoenix is now the largest US city to do so. In Cincinnati, the city council rejected the move to rename the day. However, South Dakota may deserve the most credit for this move to change the holiday, as they were the only state honoring the Native American people and cultures that were here before the Europeans arrival.

For now, many cities and states are still referring to it as Columbus Day. Stores that are open will also look to take advantage of many people having a day off and will offer sales deals. As Fortune mentions in their report about Columbus Day sales, some of the biggest and best deals will come via Walmart, Amazon, and Bed Bath & Beyond stores. Many of these sales will involve clearance items being marked down. However, seasoned shoppers will be able to find those top deals with a bit of research online and checking their nearby stores.
