It was chilly around Puget Sound Wednesday morning, with some areas dipping into the 40s. Seattle weather was a bit better, with temperatures in the low 50s.
On the positive side, KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard told Seattles Morning News that temperatures in most areas will be back to the mid- to upper-70s by the afternoon. But Allard wouldnt say whether this is the last week of 70-degree weather.
This tweet from Colleen OBrien probably says it best.
Temperatures are expected to hold in the 70s through Friday. Allard says people in western Washington should expect increasing showers Saturday, and scattered showers on Sunday.
Showers and cooler temperatures could continue into early next week, according to Allard.
As for the coming weeks, I guess well just have to wait and see. At least its been warm enough to melt that giant ice cube in Occidental Park.
The ice cube, which was placed by Olson Kundig as public art, is melting rapidly, according to University of Washington Atmospheric Sciences Professor Cliff Mass. By Monday night the ice cube was substantially diminished.

Theres a storm coming. A big one. So big that Seattle weather guru Cliff Mass says it could match the most powerful storm in NW history the Big Blow, which hit exactly 54 years ago today.
My head is spinning with the action that may be occurring around here, the University of Washington professor of atmospheric scienceswrote in a blog post on Tuesday.
This morning, he followed up by calling attention to an amazing plume of moisture spreading across the Pacific and leading to Typhoon Songda. Never saw anything like this, he said.
The action is expected to start on Thursday, when a strong Pacific cyclone approaches the coast. That could whip up winds that gust up to 57 mph along the coast and over portions of Seattle.
Expect a lot of power failures, Mass said. Be prepared.
As the low-pressure system swirls eastward, Seattle could get a couple of inches of rain, whipped up by winds. Mass said Fridays storm could represent one of the strongest weather events of a typical weather season. But folks, this is just a warmup for the real action on Saturday, he added.
Thats when an even more powerfulcyclone, associated with the remnants of Typhoon Songda, is due to hit the Northwest. Computer models suggest that its strength could hit the same level as 1962s historic Columbus Day storm, with sustained winds in excess of60 mph.
Mass noted that the heart of the storm isnt currently projected to deal a direct hit toSeattle, but he also saidtheres some uncertainty to the models.
If the models are wrong, and the storms track heads further east, Puget Sound could get a very major hit with massive power outages and damage, he said. This is a very dangerous storm.
For what its worth, The Weather Channels Brian Doneganconcurs with that opinion. He sees the potential for destructive winds, flooding rain, huge waves and coastal flooding in Washington, Oregon and far northern California.
So what should you do about it?
Make sure you have an emergency preparedness kit that includes a working flashlight, a portable radio (remember those?), extra batteries, a manual can opener, and glow-in-the-dark light sticks or electric lanterns. The American Red Cross gives you the complete rundown on what the kit should contain.
The Red Cross also advises having up to a weeks worth of food and water on hand for emergencies, and keeping your cars gas tank full.
For communication, have a corded, wired phone available if you can. (Cordless phones wont work during a power outage.) Keep your mobile devices charged up, and top off any portable chargers as well. Be extra-vigilant about backing up computer files, just in case theres an extended outage.
You can be a good neighbor by clearing away leaves and other debris from storm drains in advance of the storm, and trimming back any tree branches on your property that might cause trouble if they were to break off. If the storm gets really wild, stay safe inside if you can and stay off the roads.
Seattle City Light has its own tips for reporting and dealing with power outages, as does Puget Sound Energy. PSE has a mobile app that can help you report and track outages, while City Light has a mobile-friendly website for doing the same.

Amazon expands into subscription music...and meat?
Amazon is planning to launch itslong-rumored on-demand music service, which will compete with Spotify and Apple Music, by the beginning of next year, according to a source close to the situation. The company will also launch itsEcho-based music service, which will cost $5 a month, within the next few weeks, according to a source. That service will allow Echo owners to access Amazon"s music library on-demand just like the more expensive offering, but playback will be restricted to the smart assistant. Amazon has been working to get a deal done with the music labels for some time now, both services are being negotiated together but talks have dragged on for weeks.
The on-demand service may be called Amazon Music Unlimited, according to a report fromAFTVnews, which spotted the name and a logo (pictured above) in the code of Amazon"s new music app for the Fire TV. It will work much in the same way Spotify and Apple Music operate, $10 a month for complete access to a library of millions of songs. (The new music service won"t come with your Amazon Prime subscription, so get ready to shell out more money on top of that $99 a year subscription.)
The negotiations between Amazon and the music labels are far less contentious than the current (and nearly stagnant) talks with Spotify, with sources saying the deal is largely in place.Amazon, of course, would like to launch its on-demand service as soon as possible to take advantage of the holiday traffic, and that"s still a strong possibility."If [Amazon] wants to get the deals done they can get them done quickly," one source noted.
The big question now is whether Amazon can turn its upcoming streaming services into legit competitors with Spotify and Apple Music. Amazon has the user base and credit cards on file, but it"s coming into a new industry at the same time asPandora, another company with a dedicated group of users. With rumors of industry leaderSpotify acquiring SoundCloud to cement its foothold (a source says that deal isn"t as close as initial reports made it out to be, but it is on the table).
With Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon all offering music streaming services, that leaves Facebook as the sole holdout of the big five tech companies. The next question is how long will that last?
Martellus Bennett Not A Fan Of Jay Cutler, Jason Witten
FOXBORO Tom Bradys been fairly buttoned-down in his comments so far since returning from suspension. Just the facts, just the football, just 2016.
But ask him about his new toys and Brady brightens.
The main one for this offense is Martellus Bennett, who had three touchdown receptions from Brady against Cleveland.
Martellus has been so productive, being here for such a short time, said Brady on Wednesday afternoon. Gronk, what he did last week and him kind of getting back to where he wants to be is such a big part of our offense because those guys are so dynamic. Theyre tough matchups, theyre both 6-foot-6-plus, 270-pounds-plus. Theyre hard matchups for anybody because theyre just very unique players.
Brady expanded on how it unfolds by using one of the Patriots touchdowns on Sunday as an example.
(The Browns) focused all their coverage on Gronk, and then Martellus gets the one-on-one and he gets the ball, said Brady, referring to New Englands second touchdown when safety help moved outside to meet Gronk and Bennett wound up 1-on-1 with a linebacker. Again, thats what makes a good offense. If theyre going to double cover someone, it means other guys have single coverage. If youre playing with a guy like Gronk, its great for you because youre not the one getting double covered, so youll have opportunities and you have to take advantage of the opportunities when you get them.
It will be interesting to see if teams begin to split their double-teaming attention between Bennett and Gronk. Gronk got most of the multiple coverage on Sunday. At the rate Bennetts going, youd have to think they will.
Ashley Greene Answers 10 Questions About "Twilight" | E! Live from the Red Carpet
Stories about virginity loss the true ones anyway always include a hiccup or two. Joe Jonas says his was no different.
During a Reddit AMA on Tuesday, the DNCE singer, 27, candidly replied to a fans question about losing his virginity. We already knew that it happened at 20, but the one-time purity-ring wearer admitted that his partner was Twilights Ashley Greene.
I dated a girl named Ashley, so just Google it to figure out which Ashley that is, began Jonas, whose other exes include Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, and Camilla Belle. Its quite the great story because I didnt have any condoms, so I went to our drummer Jacks room, who was my roommate at the time, and I demolished his room looking for them.
Fortunately, his frenzied search was successful.
Found them underneath his underwear drawer, Jonas said. When he came home, he thought somebody broke into his room because his whole room was demolished because I was in dire need. Needed to happen then and now. Safety first, kids.
It seems Greene didnt appreciate being dragged into the headlines, especially in such a personal way. On Wednesday, the brunette posted what seemed to be a response to his kiss-and-tell session. The Instagram picture had just three words: Class is timeless. Ouch!
In a 2013 interview with Vulture, Jonas admitted that he lost his virginity at 20. However, he didnt mention Greene by name, saying just, I did other stuff before then, but I was sexually active at 20. Im glad I waited for the right person, because you look back and you go, That girl was bats*** crazy. Im glad I didnt go there.
Jonas and Greene started dating in the summer of 2010 at the height of Twilight madness, when she was a big star too and they split in March 2011. The breakup came oneday after Jonas finally went public about their romance in an interview with Details magazine. How is that for timing?
The AMA was quite dishy otherwise, with Jonas coming off as candid and cool. At one point he spoke about p***s again, answering a question about which of the Jonas Brothers is the most well endowed.
I like to think so, he said about himself. Although, its not often that Im in a locker room or shower with my brothers, so I couldnt really tell you. But Id like the Internet to believe that Im still killin it.
He also denied that drug addiction was the reason behind the boy band splitting in 2013.
That was all false, he said. That probably would have made me look really cool, but unfortunately that wasnt real.
Jonass new band, which recently won the VMA for Best New Artist, has a new album, featuring the buzzy Body Moves, out on Nov. 18.
Greg Hardy and MMA: Why His And CM Punk"s Celebrity Matters

Free agent defensive end Greg Hardy is attempting to transition to a career in MMA, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reported on Tuesday.
According to Helwani, Hardy has been training for the past several months in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area, though he does not have any mixed martial arts background. Hardy"s team told Helwani that several promotions have already expressed interest in signing the controversial former NFL player.
"I"m very focused and excited to start my MMA career," Hardy said in a statement. "I"m going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that."
Hardy has not played in the NFL since 2015. Dallas picked him up after his stint in Carolina ended unceremoniously following an allegation of domestic violence. Although the charges against Hardy were eventually dropped, he was placed on the commissioner"s exempt list and missed 15 games in 2014. He was eventually suspended 10 games as a result of the incident, which was reduced to a four-game suspension that he served last year in Dallas.

In September, Hardy was arrested in Texas on charges of cocaine possession.
According to Helwani, Hardy weighs 285 pounds and is expected to debut as a heavyweight when he fights for the first time, likely in 2017.
"I"m fully committed to being as successful as I can be in this sport," he said in the statement.
Only time will tell whether Hardy"s MMA career will actually come to fruition. For now, we can at least view this news as a definitive sign that his NFL career is officially over.
