WWE Rumors: Linda McMahon Up For Role In Donald Trump"s Cabinet

Who will be in Donald Trump"s Cabinet?. #TrumpCabinet @henican

Over the weekend, a British tabloid released a story that claimed that President-Elect Donald Trump was considering a cabinet position for former WWE executive Linda McMahon. No one really took it seriously considering the source but now a more legitimate source is claiming that the report was based in truth.

NBC Connecticut reported that Donald Trump actually has Linda McMahon as one of the names being considered for the position of Secretary of Commerce. Linda McMahon has little experience in politics although she did run for a U.S. Senate seat in 2010.

This announcement comes after it was revealed that Linda McMahon was one of the biggest donors to the super PAC that supported the Presidential run of Donald Trump. The Washington Post reported that Linda McMahon and her husband Vince McMahon donated $6 million to the super PAC.

The super PAC raised a total of $18 million, which makes the WWE couple one of the biggest donors to Trumps campaign, giving almost one-third of the total money raised. That also might explain why Donald Trump has her on his short list for the Secretary of Commerce. Linda McMahon talked about their close friendship with Donald Trump.

Woo hoo! Toel @hansdavidian https://t.co/CDhq62UDcz

Om Jed Revolutia (@revolutia) November 14, 2016

Once youre his friend, he is loyal to the end. Hes an incredibly loyal, loyal friend.

The McMahon family and the WWE have a long history with Donald Trump. Donald Trump hosted WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V at his own Trump Plaza back in the 80s. Those events saw a world title tournament at one and the confrontation between the Mega Powers of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage at the other.

WSJ: Obama plans to "spend more time" with Trump "than presidents typically do" because Trump doesn"t know things. https://t.co/lr4qkqlsFY

Daniel Dale (@ddale8) November 14, 2016

Donald Trump returned years later to feud with Vince McMahon, including a fictional hostile takeover of the WWE by Trump. The two ended up facing off as managers at a WrestleMania event, where Trumps man Bobby Lashley beat McMahons man Umaga and McMahon ended up shaved bald.

Donald Trump also was enshrined into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Since McMahon himself inducted Trump. Now, it might be time that Donald Trump repaid the favor by giving Linda McMahon this new job in his cabinet.

RELATED WWE REPORTS BY THE INQUISITR

Linda McMahon served in 2009 on the Connecticut Board of Education but then resigned when they passed a rule that said she couldnt take part in political activities. Linda then ran for the U.S. Senate seat in 2010, losing to Democrat candidate Richard Blumenthal. Linda McMahon spent $50 million of her own money running for the Senate seat. She ran for the other seat in 2012 and lost again.

Now, after spending so much money to try to get into politics, it might be the friendship between Linda McMahon and Donald Trump, as well as $6 million more spent to help him get elected, that will get her a position in the government.

The United States Secretary of Commerce is a position that concerns itself with the promotion of American businesses and industries. Their goal is to promote, develop, and foster both domestic and foreign commerce. Linda McMahon has experience with running the WWE but no other political experience for the position.

Linda McMahon was put into an interesting position when Donald Trump began to blast into women on Twitter and was deemed misogynistic. McMahon said that he stepped over the line but then excused him by saying he hits back hard when people strike at him first. The WWE supports anti-bullying campaigns which left a lot of questions to be answered when Linda supported the Donald Trump campaign.

Panthers vs. Broncos: Score and Twitter Reaction for Thursday Night Football

Derek Carr & Latavius Murray Come Up Big on Raiders TD Drive! | Broncos vs. Raiders | NFL

Seven months after the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in decisive fashion, the Carolina Panthers failed to exact revenge. Graham Gano missed a 50-yard field-goal attempt with nine seconds remaining that would have won Thursday night"s contest at Sports Authority Field, and the Broncos escaped with a 21-20 victory.

The Broncos moved to 1-0 after Cam Newton and the Pantherswho have now lost as many games as they did all of last seasoncrept into Denver territory late and made the defending champions sweat things out.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Broncos have won five straight season openers. They"re also 29-4 at home since 2012tied with the New England Patriots for the best mark during that span.

While the altitude figured to help Gano with the game on the line, he hasn"t thrived from distance of late. Specifically, Gano has missed four of his last seven from at least 50 yards out, per ESPN Stats & Info.

While the Broncos offense wasn"t high-powered, it had enough balance to get past a stout Panthers defense.

Broncos running back C.J. Anderson shouldered a significant load and finished with 20 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown to go with four catches, 47 receiving yards and a score.

And considering Denver quarterback Trevor Siemian hadn"t thrown a pass in regular-season action entering the night, heappeared relatively poised in the pocket as he finished with 178 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 18-of-26 passing.

The former Northwestern Wildcats signal-caller led the Broncos deep into Panthers territory on the team"s first two possessions, but both ended with turnovers. Rookie running back Devontae Booker squandered a strong opening drive with a fumble on the first carry of his career, and Siemian botched a bubble screen the next time down that linebacker Thomas Davis tipped and picked off.

Despite those hiccups, the Broncos ate up chunks of yards against a Panthers defense that started two rookie cornerbacks in JamesBradberry and Daryl Worley.

And as impressive as Siemian was in his first extended action as a pro, Newton (18-of-33, 194 yards, one touchdown, one interception) was on another plane over the first 30 minutes.

An MVP-caliber one, to be specific.

Newton not only played pitch and catch with Kelvin Benjamin throughout the first half, but he gashed the Broncos defense with his legs on designed runs and impressive escapes from pressure outside the tackle box. All told, Newton finished with 11 carries for 54 yards.

After Newton and Benjamin hooked up for the game"s first score on a 14-yard touchdown pass, the reigning MVP burned past a pair of Broncos defenders to help put the Panthers up 14-7, as the NFL documented on Twitter:

NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz was in awe of Newton"s athleticism:

According to the Associated Press" Steve Reed, Newton"s 44th career scoring scamper thrust him past Steve Young and into the No. 1 spot on the NFL"s all-time rushing touchdown list among quarterbacks.

However, the Panthers had trouble maintaining their electric offensive ways throughout the third quarterespecially after Newton suffered an apparent lower right leg injury after DeMarcus Ware sacked him.

Newton returned after limping around the sideline, and an uneventful three-and-out preceded a remarkable interception by Broncos cornerback Chris Harris, as shown by the team"s official Twitter account:

That turnover put the Broncos deep in Panthers territory, and Anderson"s second score helped put the Broncos up 21-17 as Carolina scrambled for the offensive continuity that kept it ahead throughout the first half.

An illegal hands-to-the-face call on Harris appeared to save the Panthers when they stared at 4th-and-21 with two minutes to go, but Gano couldn"t capitalize on the ground Newton made up as he absorbed vicious shot after vicious shot to put his team in a position to win on the road.

The Panthers will now have nine days off before they return home to Bank of America Stadium and aim at a move to 1-1 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Denver, meanwhile, will use part of its long week to bask in the glow of Thursday night"s win before the Indianapolis Colts come to town Sept. 18 for what figures to be a game of contrasting styles on both sides of the ball.

"We made too many mistakes coaching and playing," Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said, per the Denver Post"s Nicki Jhabvala. "We survived tonight."

However, Kubiak was proud of his team"s performance over the game"s final 30 minutes.

"I think we always play hard, but we just played much better in the second half," he said, per Jhabvala.

Kubiak also took note of his new quarterback"s impressive debut against the defending NFC champions.

"He"s gonna make mistakes," he said, according to Jhabvala. "But, man, he has poise."

As for the Panthers, tight end Greg Olsen was among those displeased with the way Broncos defenders repeatedly crunched Newton.

"Treat him like a quarterback," he said, per NFL Network"s Omar Ruiz. "I know he"s the biggest guy on the field, but he"s still a QB."

"It was a very physical game," Newton said, according to Max Henson of the team"s official website. "It"s not my job to question the officials. But it"s not fun getting hit in the head."

Elsewhere, USA Today"s Tom Pelissero caught up with Broncos safety Darian Stewartwho drilled Newton with a helmet-to-helmet hit in the fourth quarter:

As for Gano, the Panthers kicker tried to maintain a positive approach in advance of next week"s game against the 49ers.

"It"s not a good feeling," he said of the missed kick, according toHenson. "Wish I could have it back. But I just have to move on to the next kick."

Local Navy veteran killed in crash on Veterans Day

History of the Holidays: History of Veterans Day | History

HOUSTON (KTRK) --

A family is grieving the loss of Adrian Herrera, 31, who died in a Gulf Freeway crash in uniform Friday while he celebrated Veterans Day.

Carlos and Olivia Herrera describe their son as dedicated to his family, friends and country saying he knew he wanted to join the military since he was in elementary school.

"I think he started going down to the recruiting office when he was 13 or 14 trying to join," Olivia said.

Adrian served three tours in Iraq with the U.S. Navy and was active in the VFW when he came home a few years ago.

"Whenever Veterans Day would come, he would get dressed and go see his friends, go see the VFW guys," Carlos said.

That"s why Friday, his family says he was in uniform driving when he took a curve too fast and crashed.

Police came to tell his family what happened.

"We opened the door for them, and as a mom, I knew. I saw the look on their face and I was praying that"s not what they were going to say to me," Olivia said.

The family said the outpouring of support from friends and fellow veterans has been comforting.

"He was coming out of his shell. We didn"t realize how many friends he had. It"s unbelievable," Olivia said.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Yoel Romero Destroys Chris Weidman with Flying Knee, Stakes Claim for Title Shot

UFC 205: Yoel Romero Says Michael Bisping Is "Afraid" to Fight Him

Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC/Getty Images

Yoel Romero is a terrifying human being, and that was on full display at UFC 205 Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Facing former middleweight champ Chris Weidman, Romero countered a takedown attempt with an explosive flying knee for a third-round technical knockout. Check out the video here, courtesy of Talk MMA"s Dizz:

While the Cuban has been forgotten about in the UFC"s hectic middleweight division, he is riding an impressive eight-fight winning streak, which also includes victories over former champions Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Lyoto Machida.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan gave Romero the chance to voice his desire to be the next challenger for the current champ, Michael Bisping (who was in attendance as an analyst). Here was Bisping"s response (warning: NSFW content):

This, of course, doesn"t mean Bisping vs. Romero is a guarantee. Still, how can anyone argue with a finish like that?

Michigan football weekend rooting guide -- Nov. 10-12

Maryland vs Michigan football 2016

As long as the Michigan Wolverines are in contention for the College Football Playoff, ClickOnDetroit.com will list each weekend"s games that could help U of M"s quest to reach the Final Four.

The pool of college football teams still in contention for the playoff continues to dwindle, with only seven Power 5 teams with one or no losses remaining.

Michigan, the lone unbeaten team in the Big Ten, is right in the thick of the race.

This weekend"s games are extremely important to the playoff landscape. Only three weeks stand between the remaining contenders and their conference championship games, so each Saturday is either an opportunity to move up or a hurdle to survive.

READ:Big Ten football power rankings

Michigan controls its own destiny, but with Ohio State rounding into form, the showdown in Columbus is shaping up to be a incredibly difficult challenge. Here are some of the games that would improve Michigan"s playoff chances, even if it slips up before the end of the season.

For a more in-depth explanation about why we post these rooting guides, click here. To see how last weekend went for the Wolverines, click here.

Must-haves

These are the games that absolutely have to go Michigan"s way to keep its playoff hopes alive.

Michigan over Iowa (8 p.m. Saturday): This is Michigan"s toughest road test of the season before the trip to Columbus. Iowa has lost two straight games, but always seems to give Michigan a challenge at KinnickStadium. If Michigan wins, its playoff hopes stay on track.

Toss-ups

These are the games that would help Michigan"s playoff chances and have a realistic chance of happening.

Duke over North Carolina (Duke 28, North Carolina 27): North Carolina is shaping up to be one of the top two-loss teams in the country, which could create a tricky situation if the Tarheels somehow win the ACC title and finish 11-2. With a loss to Duke, one of the ACC"s four potential contenders would be erased.

Arizona State over Utah (Utah 49, Arizona State 26): This is a very big under-the-radar game, and it"s not because Utah is a legitimate playoff contender. If the Utes fall to Arizona State and tumble out of the rankings, Washington will lose its only win over a ranked team. That would greatly damage Washington"s chance to make the playoffs as a one-loss conference champion.

Baylor over Oklahoma (Noon Saturday): Baylor"s season ended last weekend with it losing by 40 points to an average TCU team. The Bears have a chance this weekend to take down one of the Big 12"s final, desperate hopes for a playoff bid.

South Carolina over Florida (Noon Saturday): Like Baylor, Florida picked up its second loss of the season last Saturday in embarrassing fashion, watching its playoff hopes die. But a third loss would further crush the image of the SEC East and widen the Big Ten"s lead as the best conference in college football.

UCF over Cincinnati (Noon Saturday): One year after going 0-12, UCF is a win away from bowl eligibility. If the Knights can take down Cincinnati and pull off an upset in one of their final two games, that would give Michigan another nonconference win over a team with a winning record. In fact, UCF is even stronger than its 5-4 record, as three losses came by one possession.

Texas over West Virginia (Noon Saturday): Barring absolute mayhem over the final three weeks (which is a distinct possibility, as college football has shown us in the past), West Virginia is the last Big 12 team that would have a chance to get into the playoff over a one-loss Michigan team. Texas could take care of that this weekend.

Penn State over Indiana (Noon Saturday): Penn State really needs to be careful against an Indiana team on the brink of bowl eligibility. If the Nittany Lions continue to win, they"ll continue to move up in the top 10 of the rankings, strengthening Michigan"s resume.

Northwestern over Purdue (Noon Saturday): No matter what the committee says, I believe that the Big Ten teams would have an advantage if the conference as a whole continues to succeed. Northwestern has a chance to be a 10thteam in the conference to qualify for a bowl game, but it needs this win over Purdue.

Georgia over Auburn (3:30 p.m. Saturday): Auburn is one of the few teams in the country that controls its own destiny en route to the College Football Playoff. The Tigers would definitely made the field of four with a win at Alabama and an SEC title, unless they lose to Georgia first.

Georgia Tech over Virginia Tech (3:30 p.m. Saturday): Virginia Tech is in a very similar position to North Carolina, except Virginia Tech already won the head-to-head meeting. The Hokies have the inside track to the ACC Coastal Division title, so a loss in the final three weeks would be devastating.

Appalachian State over Troy (3:30 p.m. Saturday): it"s truly incredible that this game has any bearing on the top four, but Clemson"s win over Troy is really helping its resume, as the Trojans are undefeated since their game against the Tigers. If Michigan and Clemson both lost a game, the Wolverines don"t want Clemson to have a win over a 12-1 Troy team.

Wisconsin over Illinois (3:30 p.m. Saturday): Wisconsin finally controls its own destiny in the Big Ten West Division. The CFP committee chairman said this week that the Badgers have separated themselves from the other one-loss teams in the country. That means that Michigan"s win over Wisconsin will continue to be one of the best wins in the country as long as the Badgers continue to win.

Texas Tech over Oklahoma State (3:30 p.m. Saturday): Teams rarely go from irrelevant to top 15 as quickly as Oklahoma State did, and the Cowboys still have a chance to make another big jump against rival Oklahoma later in the year.

Ole Miss over Texas A&M (7:30 p.m. Saturday): Texas A&M somehow fell only four spots after being dominated by a 3-5 team. If the Aggies fall to 4-5 Ole Miss, maybe they"ll drop out of the top 10.

USC over Washington (7:30 p.m. Saturday): This is one of the biggest remaining games of the college football season. If USC can top Washington, it will throw the Pac-12 into a complete tailspin. If Washington wins, it will pick up a much-needed second big win.

Colorado over Arizona (10 p.m. Saturday): Colorado is 7-2 with a chance to play in the Pac-12 championship game. What a huge nonconference win that has turned out to be for Michigan. The more Colorado wins, the better Michigan"s body of work looks.

Get greedy

These are games that would help Michigan"s playoff chances but probably won"t happen.

Boston College over Florida State (7:30 p.m. Friday): Florida State is an overrated team based on its resume, but that doesn"t change the fact that the Seminoles are a huge boost to both Clemson"s and Louisville"s resumes. Boston College is awful, so an upset here would throw an enormous wrench into the ACC"s image.

Pittsburgh over Clemson (3:30 p.m. Saturday): Clemson is obviously one of Michigan"s top competitors outside the Big Ten. Any undefeated teams that lose and improve Michigan"s standing would be a win for the Wolverines.

Maryland over Ohio State (3:30 p.m. Saturday): Remember what Ohio State did to Nebraska last week? Poor Maryland.

Hawaii over Boise State (7 p.m. Saturday): Michigan hopes every week that Hawaii will pick up a big win and help its resume. Hawaii always seems to falls short.

Wake Forest over Louisville (7 p.m. Saturday): Nobody was happier than Louisville to see Texas A&M fall last weekend. The Cardinals are lurking in the weeds, just waiting for teams in the top five to drop off. They should be in line for another blowout win Saturday.
