Avicii - The Nights
It seems Avicii is putting the performing aspect of his career behind him.
The popular electronic music DJ announced his retirement from live performances (at least for now) in an emotional letter addressed to fans on his website on Tuesday.
In the post, which begins, "Hello world, thank you for letting me fulfill so many of my dreams," the 26-year-old writes, "I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist."

"I will however never let go of music," he continues. "But I"ve decided this 2016 run will be my last tour and last shows. Let"s make them go out with a bang!"
Ending the note with a glimmer of hope for fans, Avicii writes, "One part of me can never say never, I could be back... but I won"t be right back."

While there"s certainly a melancholy sense of finality in the letter, Avicii has taken smaller breaks from performing before. In 2014, the musician opened up to Billboard about needing to take time off to recover from operations to have his appendix and gall bladder removed.
"Since my operation, I"d just been going and going," he said at the time. "I was dropping weight. I needed to take a break."
