US Navy ship fires warning shots at Iranian vessel
Hillary Clinton zings Donald Trump: His latest paranoid fever dream is about my health. All I can say is, Donald, dream on.
Trump gets zero support. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who hasbroken with many of the GOPs traditional positions on economic policy, garners nosupport from any of theWhite Houseeconomists who have advised U.S. presidents for the past half-century.
If we show some zeal for defending ourselves the Iranians will take notice. A U.S. Navy coastal patrol ship fired three warning shots at an Iranian ship that sailed within 200 yards in the Northern Persian Gulf Wednesday after one of four close calls this week involving U.S. and Iranian vessels, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News on Thursday.TheUSS Squall fired the shots, according to the official. On Tuesday, four Iranian small boats harassed the USS Nitze, sailing near the guided missile destroyerin the narrow Strait of Hormuz, a U.S. Navy official told Fox News.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will zip right through the primary. CNN released a new poll Wednesday evening showing John McCain leading Kelli Ward in the August 30 Arizona Senate primary by 26 points (55 percent to 29 percent). If the CNN poll is accurate, it would seem that McCains antagonistic relationship with Donald Trump hasnt hurt him a bit in his home state. McCains 26-point lead is almost identical to the margin by which he beat congressman J.D. Hayworth in 2010, just two years after he was the Republican partys presidential nominee.
The Republican leadership could have zapped him when it had the chance. Whatever their reasoning, millions of other voters have decided [Hillary] Clinton is either the better choice or the lesser of two evils. Thats all the more impressive since she comes with some monogrammed luggage of the truth-trimming and corner-cutting kind, though hers is of the smaller carry-on size, and not Trumps steamer trunk of controversies, from his sexist and racist comments to his nativism and xenophobia to his belittling manner to his designed-to-fool-the-lightly-informed policy proposals.
There is zilch chance of it ever becoming law, thank goodness. According to a new study, Donald Trumps proposal to ban Muslims from around the world and non-Muslims from terrorism-affected countries from entering the country would be bad news for the economy. The study, from the centrist group Third Way, says 182,000 jobs would be killed in the bans first year. United States GDP would be $30.5 billion worse off. The losses would increase more every year the ban remains in place.
The anti-immigrant zealots are crying in their beer. The nominee and his campaign aides are now talking openly about requiring illegal immigrants to pay back taxes and potentially allowing those without criminal records to stay in the country lines that Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida repeatedly used in the GOP presidential primary. Trump also says that any softening of his position wont include a path to citizenship consistent with the way former Florida governor Jeb Bush described how he would provide legal status for undocumented immigrants.
