HOLLYWOOD, CA -It"s happy birthday to America"s favorite Golden girl.
actress betty white turns 95 years old today.
The actress and comedians began working in show business in the 1940"s, and she"s best known for her Emmy Award-winning roles as Sue Ann Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and the sweet and clueless Rose Nylund on "The Golden Girls."
White was one of the first women to have control, both in front of and behind the camera; and is recognized as the first woman to produce a sitcom, which contributed to her receiving the honorary title as the Mayor of Hollywood in 1955.
White, who was born in Oak Park, Illinois, has outlived several of her fellow celebrities.
She made news last month after a South Carolina man set up a Go-Fund-Me page to keep her safe, following several high-profile celebrity deaths.
At last check, the campaign has raised more than $9,200.
The money raised will be donated to a local theater.
