Sean McVay has been namedas the next head coach of the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams made the announcement via their Twitter account on thursday. mcvay previously served as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins and is now the youngest head coach in NFL history at 30 years old.
Before venturing intothe NFL, McVay played collegiately at Miami (OH) University as a wide receiver. You can actually check out McVay"s high school recruiting profile in the embedment below.
Since then, McVay has enjoyed a meteoric ascentin the past decade. He broke into the NFL as a wide receivers coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, then spent a season coaching in the United Football League. He has spent the past seven seasons climbing the ranks on the Redskins coaching staff.
After working with Washington"stight ends for four seasons, McVay was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2014. He oversaw the development of Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins the past three years and helped him guide the NFL"s third ranked offense with an average of 403.4 yards per game in 2016.
McVay will now be asked to do the same with quarterback Jared Goff, last year"s first-overall draft pick, and the Rams. That"s no small task as Los Angeles" offense ranked dead last in the league by nearly 50 yards per game.
The Rams interviewed a total of nine candidates for their head-coaching job (including five offensive coordinators), according to NFL.com"s coaching tracker. McVay proved to be the most impressive of the bunch.
