Why I love a country that once betrayed me | George Takei
oh myyy. everyone fell for george
Takeis genius April Fools prank in which he said he was going to run for Congress against embattled California Rep. Devin Nunes.Surely disappointing many potential voters, Takei revealed early Saturday that his announcement was a joke with a photo of himself holding a sign that said, Gotcha!
In the same tweet, he urged people to vote for real candidate Jon Ossoff in a special election on April 18, saying, Lets flip Congress in 18.
With what is going on now in the country, I couldnt stand by any longer merely as a citizen. I knew I had to take a bigger stand. So thats why Im running for Congress. My hope is to challenge Devin Nunes for his seat in 2018, Takei said.
Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has come under intense fire for his handling of the investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and ties to President Trump.People are tired of his a*s-kissing of Trump. Can I say that? I think I can. These days you can say pretty much anything and not get in trouble, Takei added.
Taking that latter statement one step further on Saturday, the social media maven with more than 13 million followers on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook tweeted this morsel on Saturday:
