A Hollywood star says he may give up acting to focus on political activism

Kate Beckinsale Texts Her Daughter Naked Pics Of Michael Sheen - CONAN on TBS

Michael Sheen has spent enough time playing a politician. Now hes going to become one.

Or at the very least, the Welsh actor plans to become a political activist and put his acting career on hold, perhaps permanently.

Thats what he told The Times of London in an interview published Saturday. According to journalist Ben Hoyle, Sheen, who has portrayed British politician Tony Blair and political journalist David Frost in the past, says he has no upcoming acting projects and plans to return to his hometown in Wales, Port Talbot, which voted to leave the European Union in the recent Brexit vote, according to the BBC.

Sheen, who described himself as a news junkie in the interview, compared the rise of the hard populist right to Nazism and white supremacy.

In the same way as the Nazis had to be stopped in Germany in the 30s, this thing that is on the rise has to be stopped, he said.

Sheens career has been on the rise in recent years, as he has garnered Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations since 2010 and critical acclaim for his role as Dr. William Masters in Masters of s*x. According to data from BoxOfficeMojo.com, his films have grossed nearly $1.5 billion worldwide.

However, he has never shied away from expressing his political opinions and advocating for certain causes. In 2015, a speech he gave in favor of free healthcare in which he ripped into both sides of the political spectrum went viral and caused waves.

On his Twitter timeline, Sheen has frequently sounded off on both the Brexit vote and Donald Trumps recent election to the U.S. presidency.

However, on Twitter, Sheen rushed to quell any speculation that he would be permanently retiring.

Sheens girlfriend of several years and fellow actor, Sarah Silverman, has been especially politically active as well, campaigning on behalf of Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primary and speaking at the Democratic National Convention on behalf of Hillary Clinton.

Silverman retweeted Sheens message about his uncertainty regarding his actign future, as well as another tweet that read: as actor michael sheen decides to dedicate himself to activism, it"s worth remembering his NHS speech, and linked to the speech above.

Cee Lo Green: I Didn"t Die in a Cellphone Explosion!

CeeLo Green - Music To My Soul [Official Video]

Cee Lo Green has a message to send those concerned about his state of being

And the message goes like this:

i"m not dead!

is green the latest victim of an Internet celebrity death hoax? Kind of. Sort of.

But rumors of his demise are a bit more complicated and hilarious than a simple social media message that is making the rounds.

Talk of Cee Lo no longer being with us heated up over the weekend after a video depicting surveillance footage of a man resembling the singer and - former The Voice coach - went viral on Saturday.

In the clip, this unidentified man is sitting in a recording studio and talking on his phone.

The device in his hand then blows up and the individual falls off his chair and on to the floor.

Internet users may have previously laughed off the video as a clear fake, except there have been recalls for the Galaxy Note 7 because it really does just explode on occasion.

Here"s a look at the video that has many people thinking Cee Lo Green is dead:

The footage above even prompted R&B singerOmarion to Tweet the following:

"@CeeLoGreen Sooo manyyyy prayers & light to you brother!!!! I [pray] your hearing is ok!!!"

Other messages of concern for Green have included:

But here"s the thing:

CeeLo Green is alive!

He set the record straight on Facebook Live, thanking his fans for their supportive words not long after he got word that a lot of people thought he had been killed.

"Hey y"all, listen," the singer told the camera, explaining:

"I just want to let everybody know that I am alive and I am well and I"m OK. Truthfully, I"m really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today.

"Actually what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project that I"m doing called Gnarly Davidson. It"s supposed to set up and introduce the new character identity.

"I"m still going to release the music, but first and foremost to everybody that love me and care about me, I just wanted to let you know that I"m OK..."

Phew. That"s good, right?

Even if you aren"t a fan of Green"s because he once wondered if a woman can be technically raped if she"s unconscious, you probably don"t think he deserves to die in a freak cellphone accident.

At least we hope not.

Trump trolled for misspelling "unprecedented" in tweet

CHINA Pirates! Donald Trump accuses China of ‘unprecedented act’ over stolen U S Navy underwater dro

The grammar police on Saturday trolled President-elect Donald Trump for misspelling the word unprecedented as unpresidented, in a tweet about China taking a Navy drone in international waters.

Trump swiftly deleted the tweet and replaced it with one using the correct spelling. But the Twitter account for the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the standard-bearer for English-language words, had already poked fun at Trumps grammar mistake.

Good morning! The#WordOfTheDayis...not "unpresidented". We don"t enter that word. That"s a new one, the company tweeted.

Trump, a Republican and prolific tweeter with 17.4 million followers, has had spelling mistakes in previous tweets.

Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy also pounced on Twitter.

This is madness. A 7:30am Saturday escalation of diplomatic crisis w China via Twitter, w misspelling, he posted.

Monitoring road conditions | WTNH Connecticut News

Some tow companies working overtime for road conditions

(WTNH) while driving around the roads in the Mobile Weather Lab, the conditions greatly depending on the roads. I-91 between Middletown and New Haven was clear of snow, but was icy in spots.

Be on the lookout for breakdowns on the shoulder. We spotted one man trying to get back on the highway after pulling over too far, sinking his tires into a snow drift. A DOT truck was behind him so he wouldnt get hit.

I-95 between Branford and Milford was pretty smooth going. We did see one man pulled over, trying to knock ice off his windshield wipers. Police say do not stop by the side of the road to do that. Get off at an exit and find a parking lot because with the slippery conditions its not safe to get out of your car on the highway.

Ice brings deadly road conditions across US

Portland officer talks about overnight road conditions

At least six people died in Virginia, Maryland and Oklahoma because of the dangerous road conditions, authorities said.

a 55-vehicle crash on a icy stretch of Interstate 95 in Baltimore, Maryland left at least two people dead and motorists stranded for hours about 5 a.m. Saturday, according to Chief Roman Clark, a Baltimore Fire Department spokesman. Fifteen people were taken to hospitals.

A video posted on social media showed a fuel truck flipping over a median on the interstate near the Washington Boulevard exit before erupting in flames. A man is heard asking, "What is going on?" as flames and dark smoke rise from under the highway.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said good Samaritans helped pull people out of cars.

"This is the worst accident that we"ve seen," she said.

Emergency vehicles descended on the scene, stalling traffic for miles and leading authorities to urge stranded motorists on both sides of the interstate to "remain warm and calm and shelter in place" in their cars, Clark said.

The cause was under investigation, but Clark described road conditions as "very slippery."

In northern Virginia, authorities responded to more than 40 traffic accidents, some involving multiple vehicles, according to the state police.

One person was killed after a multi-vehicle crash at 5:12 a.m., Saturday, on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County, police said.

The man appeared to have been involved in a 23-vehicle collision -- including two tractor trailers -- under "slick and treacherous" road conditions, according to the state police. His body was found on the shoulder of the interstate about one mile north of the accident scene. An autopsy was to be performed.

On Thursday, three people were killed in weather-related accidents around Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

At Dulles International Airport, just outside Washington, D.C., icy conditions forced the closure of runways for part of the morning. Two runways were reopened about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Nationally, there were 2,000 flight cancellations, according to FlightAware.

Dangerous wind chill

The brutal blast of frigid air is bringing bone-chilling winds and subfreezing temperatures across the country this weekend.

The National Weather Service warns that the massive system will produce heavy snow from parts of northern California to the Great Lakes.

Its reach will extend into the southern Rockies and New England.

Here"s what you can expect:

Nearly 50% of the country will see temperatures dip below freezing Saturday and Sunday.

With the wind chill, temperatures could reach 35 below zero in the Midwest and Northeast on Saturday.

Nearly 75 million people are under winter weather advisories

Arctic air plunging in behind a cold front is making its way across the Eastern Seaboard on Sunday morning, according to meteorologists.

Bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous windshield factors swept across Montana to Texas through the Great Lakes.

Potentially life threatening wind chills as low as 50 degrees below zero are expected in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Colorado and Idaho.

Portions of Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota could get the coldest air the region has seen in two years.

Subfreezing temperatures

New York, Washington and Boston had extremely cold temperatures Saturday, with the wind chill ranging from minus 10 to minus 35 degrees in some locations from Pennsylvania up into Maine.

Strong winds have already been an issue, with gusts in excess of 60 mph in some locations, including areas along Cape Cod.

Cold air, then fluctuating temperatures

A roller coaster ride of temperature swings are in store for parts of the country in the coming week.

Warm air is expected to surge into the Southeast, where it could meet with the storm system through much of Saturday as it crosses the Mississippi Valley. A wintry mix of rain and snow can be expected in parts of some areas that were close to freezing on Thursday evening in the deep South could see near-record highs ahead of the next push of bitter cold air.

But the respite may be brief as the next arctic blast is expected to impact areas stretching from the Plains into the western Great Lakes, causing temperatures to plummet below zero Sunday.

Chicago Bears game could break record

This weekend"s game between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers could be the coldest since the Bears started tracking kickoff temperatures.

The previous record was set December 22, 2008 -- also against the Packers. The kickoff temperature was 2 degrees, with a frigid 13 below zero wind-chill temperature.

Chicago is poised to break that record Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills on Saturday made an appeal for snow shovelers at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. The pay is $10 an hour, plus lunch and dinner and a complimentary ticket for those working four hours or longer. The Bills play the Cleveland Browns Sunday afternoon.

In California, flood concerns

Rain, wind, and snow are also impacting a majority of California from this new round of weather that has moved in from the Pacific. Some areas have seen more than seven inches of rain with wind gusts in excess of 50 mph.

Upcoming western coastal storms will usher in frost and freeze warnings in California along with gusty wind and mountain snowfall Saturday. Officials also are concerned about possible mudslides, triggered sometimes when heavy rain hits drought-stricken areas.

CNN"s Steve Visser, Tony Marco, Vivian Kuo, Kevin Bohn, Sarah Jorgensen, Michael Guy, John Newsome, Madison Park and Joe Sutton contributed to this report.

Always dreaming of a white Christmas

WHITE CHRISTMAS - Frank Sinatra

By Mark Hopkins

My favorite secular Christmas song of all time is "white christmas." i love the simplicity of the lyrics and the mental visions it creates such as snow glistening on treetops and Christmas cards being written. Having been raised in the Midwest and now living in the South, the wistful dream of a white Christmas captures me.

The song was written by Irving Berlin in 1940 but it didn"t really hit the public"s consciousness until Bing Crosby sang it in the hit movie "White Christmas" in 1954. The song has sold more than 50 million copies since and is the most successful record of all time.

Bing Crosby said he didn"t particularly like the song when he first heard it and was not scheduled to sing it in the movie. The "White Christmas" director, Michael Curtiz, wrote in his memoirs he intended for Crosby to sing it, but Crosby insisted he wouldn"t be in the movie if he had to sing that song. It wasn"t until they were nearing the completion of filming that they sprang it on Crosby. As the story goes, he refused to come to the set for two days after learning he had been duped but eventually relented and sang the song. The rest, as they say, is history.

Most of the movie stars of the "30s and "40s were graduates of Vaudeville, that stage-show circuit that ran from Boston to Buffalo, New York, to Philadelphia to Baltimore, and finally, if the act was good enough, to New York. Names such as W.C. Fields, Mae West, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Bing Crosby and Irving Berlin were well known in the theaters of the 36 Vaudeville circuit cities, all of them in the snowy Northeast.

When movies began to be made with sound, songwriters like Irving Berlin and singers like Bing Crosby found their way to California. There, of course, Christmas was very different from what most of the Vaudevillians were used to. You could understand their longing for a white Christmas.

The original words to Berling"s classic, long lost today, were: "The sun is shining, the grass is green, the orange and palm trees sway. There"s never been such a day in Beverly Hills, L.A. But, it"s December 24th and I"m longing to be up North ..."

Then the chorus began with the familiar words, "I"m dreaming of a white Christmas."

Ruth and I have lived in South Carolina now for more than 30 years, and though we have had some snow from time to time, we have not yet experienced a white Christmas. So, assuming it won"t happen this year, either, Ruth and I have a wish for you: "May your days be merry and bright, even if your Christmas can"t be white."
