Beginning Feb. 13, you can send Valentine"s Day e-cards to friends and loved ones on the social network.
The day before Valentine"s, you should get a notification in your feed wishing you a Happy Valentine"s Day. It will also include a link where you can create and share a personalized card with your friends. Once you click, you can select from a handful of pre-designed card templates which you can then post to your Timeline, or a friend"s.
the cards, designed by artists and illustrators based in New York and London, will come in a variety of styles to suit your personal Valentine"s Day feels.
Valentine"s Day week is an especially busy time for Facebook (and for people in the real world). Last year, the app saw a 25 percent increase in "engagement life events"that is, people announcing they"d gotten engagedthe week of Valentine"s Day compared to the two weeks prior.

But a now series of scandals -- and a new neighbor in the White House -- have ushered in a good dose of gloom.

From bouncer to Prime Minister
His jobs have varied from nightclub bouncer to teacher. A married father of three, Trudeau is an avid athlete who runs, skis, surfs, boxes -- he"s even mastered yoga. And from his shirtless encounters with strangers to an official visit with a blushing Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, Trudeau has charmed the world one selfie at a time. Elected to Parliament in 2008, he became Canada"s prime minister in November 2015 with a liberal message of inclusion. At age 43, he assumed the office his father, Pierre Trudeau, held decades earlier.
Not so "sunny": Elbowgate, Castro and chopper rides
The afterglow burned for months. Then came Elbowgate.
It was a jaw-dropping counterpoint to Trudeau"s carefully cultivated image of calm. And it was all caught on camera.
In May 2016, while debating a contentious piece of legislation on assisted suicide, Trudeau "manhandled" a member of Parliament and elbowed another, apparently swearing as he went.
He apologized, twice, and the negative attention was mostly limited to Canada.
No such luck for Trudeau"s next misstep.
As the world reacted to the death of Fidel Castro, Trudeau said in a statement that the Cuban leader had been a "larger than life leader who served his people." He left out any mention of Castro"s record on human rights and his history of oppression.The criticism poured in. #TrudeauEulogies started trending, with mock tributes to despots past and present. In the end, Trudeau agreed that Castro was a dictator.
Even before that ruckus could die down, Trudeau found himself in the middle of yet another scandal. His office confirmed that the Prime Minister spent his winter holiday on the private island of the Aga Khan -- and used the billionaire religious leader"s private helicopter to get there. An ethics investigation is underway.
And no sooner had the new year begun than tragedy struck in Quebec City, where a local college student allegedly shot to death six men at a mosque. It was one of the worst attacks to target Muslims in a Western country.
Make Trudeau great again
Trudeau used the massacre to double down on his message of inclusion. "Muslim-Canadians are an important part of our national fabric," he said.The attack came as Trudeau, aware of his waning popularity and aiming to shed the label of "limousine liberal," embarked on a cross-country town hall road show.
He got grilled, heckled and yelled at.
But some commentators saw it as a successful act of contrition after several weeks of damaging missteps.
"That"s why he did this incredible tour of the country that no one"s ever seen before," said Craig Oliver, chief political commentator for CTV News.
"He"s authentic," said Oliver, who has known Trudeau since childhood. "He has real good instincts about people and about politics."
"Sunny ways" still under threat
As he works to dig out of his domestic rut, Trudeau faces new threats to his progressive politics. There"s still a strain of nationalist populism that runs deep in Canada.
Oh, and then there"s Donald Trump.
Former Vice President Joe Biden suggested weeks before he left office that Trudeau, along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, would inherit the liberal mantle from former President Barack Obama.
"The world"s going to spend a lot of time looking to you, Prime Minister, as we see more and more challenges to the liberal international order since the end of World War II," Biden said.
the prime minister is an avowed feminist, free-trader and self-appointed cheerleader for diversity. And just a week before Trump was sworn in, Trudeau issued a thinly veiled swipe at his new American counterpart.
"There are things that we hold dear that the Americans haven"t prioritized," he said at a town hall event. "And I"m never going to shy away from standing up for what I believe in -- whether it"s proclaiming loudly to the world that I am a feminist, whether it"s understanding that immigration is a source of strength for us and Muslim-Canadians are an essential part of the success of our country today and into the future."
After the Trump administration announced its travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries, Trudeau tweeted, "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada"
"Almost everything that Trump represents, Trudeau resents," Oliver said.
Face to face with Trump
As Trudeau preps for his meeting with Trump, some say he should remember the words of his late father, who in the 1960s said that living next to the United States was like "sleeping with an elephant" -- every "twitch and grunt" affects you.
"Agitating the President of the United States is not a good strategy especially when the President is Donald Trump because he has such a thin skin," pollster Nanos said.
Trudeau and Trump are sure to agree on some issues, including support of the Keystone XL Pipeline. But for Trudeau, nearly every facet of his country"s economy could be affected by his relationship with Trump.
"There"s just so much riding on it," Oliver said. "You know, 75% of Canada"s goods are sold in the United States. That border has to stay open for business."
For his part, Trudeau said as much last week during a public appearance ahead of his White House visit.
"We both got elected on commitments to strengthen the middle class and support those working hard to join it," the Prime Minister said. "And that"s exactly what we"re gonna be focused on in these meetings -- making sure that the millions of good, middle-class jobs on both side of our borders that are dependent on the smooth flow of goods and services and people back and forth across our border are reinforcing the deep connections and friendship between Canada and the United States."

HOUSTON, TX -- A line of severe thunderstorms that moved through the area early Tuesday spawned tornadoes and high winds that impacted communities all over the Metro Houston region.
The National weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado warning at 6:30 a.m. for counties south of Houston.
As the storms continued to move through the area, the subsequent warnings were expanded.
At the height of the storm, as many as 10 Texas counties were included in the National Weather Service warning.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m. a tornado touched down in Fairchilds, near Rosenberg in Fort Bend County, and another touched down a short time later in the Tara and Greatwood communities near Sugar Land.
A fence in the Tara community near Sugar Land is blown over by what officials believe was a tornado.
Fences were blown over, shingles were ripped from the roofs of homes, and an empty pole barn in Fairchilds was damaged.
Just before 9:30 a.m., a third tornado was reported over the Houston Ship Channel near Cloverleaf.
There were no reported injuries from any of those weather incidents.
The storms left more than 21,000 CenterPoint Energy customers without power, with many of those affected in Fort Bend County and southwest Harris County.
At the same time, the Houston Office of Emergency Management operated at a Level III, or a level of heightened readiness.
School districts were also affected with officials in Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD issuing a shelter in place order for faculty and staff.
The City of Sugar Land followed that same protocol until the storm passed at 10:30 a.m.
The severe thunderstorm warning that was issued at 10:30 a.m., expired at 11 a.m.

The Neshannock Police Department is seeing red in a good way today, thanks to the "Neighborhood Kids" from First Assembly of G*d.
In an effort to put into practice lessons learned during their weekly gatherings, the students of the church"s children"s ministry created individual valentines for the department"s nine officers, including K-9 Avi.
"It was really nice; you could tell they took a lot of time to create them," Lt. John Rand said Monday. "A lot of them are red ... we have them hanging up on a bulletin board in the patrol room."
Rand said he was particularly touched by the children"s efforts, as they made cards for each officer, instead of one for the whole department.
"Every once in a while we"ll get a big group one, but they made one for each officer. A couple of the officers have them in their lockers."
The group"s teacher, Beverly Quinn, said the project allowed the children to get involved in their community. In previous years, she pointed out, projects have focused on other organizations and agencies, such as local nursing homes and veterans at the VA hospital in Butler.
"Our kids are learning what G*d says about helping, caring for and loving our neighbors," she said. "This year we will be focusing on our local police, fire and EMS.
"While these valentines aren"t a lot, our kids used their time and talents to show that they care for the officers and what they do for the community."
The students presented the valentines to officer Robert Sipe following a question and answer period with him. They also provided the K-9 officer with a bag of dog treats.
Authorities raided a restaurant in Shenzhen that sold rare animals and cooked them for banquets, reflecting the lack of awareness among mainlanders of the need to protect endangered species, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reports.
In Zhejiang province, meanwhile, police seized a stall at a wet market in Danghu village secretly selling wild birds, the newspaper said.
Over 400 sparrows were found in styrofoam boxes, and 11,000 more wild birds were seized at the house of one of the vendors. They included 88 magpies and 13 wild pigeons.
Four people were arrested after implements for catching birds, such as nets and an airsoft rifle, were discovered in their apartments.
It is fairly common in China for people to eat wild animals, or yewei in Putonghua, ignoring the fact that many of these animals are carriers of germs and unknown viruses, according to thepaper.cn.
Some even disclose on social media the wild animals they have eaten.
A woman in Shenzhen, for example, boasted on a Weibo post that she had had a meal of pangolin soup and fried rice with pangolin blood a few years back.
She said the broth had made her nose bleed owing to its medicinal effects.
According to her, the restaurant where she had the pangolin dish had a menu consisting of various exotic types of meat, including that of an owl.
Netizens criticized her for consuming endangered animals, and her Weibo posts have been deleted since.
Some vendors of pangolins and other endangered species use various tricks to command better prices such as adding cement or flour to the increase the weight of the animals or pigments to make them look more exotic, Fawan News reports.
Vendors also inject the animals with sedatives during transport and then give them stimulants to make them look healthy and lively while being displayed for sale.
Others use preservatives to keep dead animals looking fresh.
Just last year, a vendor in Zhejiang was found to have injected two pounds of liquified flour into a pangolins stomach to increase its weight and fetch higher prices.
An officer investigating the case said injecting water was not enough to increase the animals weight, so they use chemicals and even cement to make them bigger.
The officer warned the public against eating pangolin and other endangered species, saying that it is not only illegal to do so but also dangerous because vendors inject the animals with various chemicals.
Under mainland laws, a person found to have eaten pangolin could be sentenced to five years in jail and slapped with a heavy fine.
