ESPN First Take - Jets Plan to Release WR Brandon Marshall
Brandon Marshall is no longer with the New York Jets, but he might get to play against them twice next season. According to a report from the Boston Globe, there is mutual interest between Marshall and the New England Patriots.
Marshall was released by the Jets earlier this week as part of an ongoing roster purge of older veterans. Nick Mangold and Darrelle Revis each saw their time in New York come to an end, and five more vets -- including Eric Decker and Sheldon Richardson -- could be next.
marshall stated last season that he was intrigued by the idea of playing for the Pats, given that he has never been to the playoffs in his 11-year NFL career. However, he also said thatTom Bradyisnt the best player ever and that people talk about Bill Belichick too much. So who knows how seriously we can take his interest in playing there?
If he does sign with New England, he wouldnt be nearly the first high-profile wideout to spent a late-career season playing with Belichick and Brady. The Patriots have been known to bring in ring-seeking veterans they can grab on one-year deals (Chad Johnson and Reggie Wayne), and if they can get Marshall at an agreeable price, hed make a heck of a weapon for Brady and provide a different look in the passing game.

It"s not just the fans who are buzzing about Beauty and the Beast star Josh "LeFou" Gadd gushed about the live-action project to EW:
"Look, theres a lot of buzz surrounding "Frozen 2," theres buzz surrounding other things Ive been involved with. But, this, theres such curiosity, joy, excitement, and buzz about a film thats two years away still. Thats an enormous amount of pressure, actually, but also something that we all take very seriously. Every day were making this movie, we know what the bar is, and were trying to match that bar, if not exceed it in some ways. So were very well aware of that."
Feel the hype. How are you dealing with the wait until March 17, 2017?
How do you feel about the new live action "Beauty and the Beast"?
The R-rated superhero movie has arrived, just as they said it would after Marvels Deadpool became a $780-million hit. That movie was a comedy, but the latest example of the genre, james mangolds logan, is anything but. logan presents everyones favorite X-Man, The Wolverine, in such a serious and grown-up light that the film takes a little getting used to.
Logan finds its titular hero, he of the mutton-chop sideburns and knuckle-based knives, in the twilight of his years. The sight of his graying hair and sagging skin is a shock, as is the opening-credits beating he takes from a bunch of second-rate car thieves. Were told the X-Men in general are over: No new ones are being born, and even the once-proud Professor Charles Xavier (an excellent Patrick Stewart) is now a sick man babbling away in a grimy bunker. All they want is enough cash to buy a boat and die anonymously at sea.
Where are the snappy one-liners, the midair fistfights, the sexy costumes? Not here. Mangold (Cop Land, the 2007 remake 3:10 to Yuma) approaches Logan like a Western specifically, the kind whose hero is an aging gunslinger. When Logan stumbles upon an orphaned little girl named Laura (Dafne Keen) who seems to be the first superhero in a generation (hey, she has knuckle-blades, too? Hmmm), hes moved to help her only by the promise of money. Classic Westerns like True Grit and Unforgiven come to mind, while Shane becomes little Lauras favorite film.
Its fascinating to see a Marvel movie strike such a rugged, gritty, hard-nosed tone, but Logan cant keep it up consistently. Its main villain, Pierce (Boyd Holbrook), is a comic-book sleazeball with sunglasses and a metal hand; the action scenes look noticeably computer-aided, with blurry red splatter; and theres a plot detour involving a friendly African-American family that strikes all the wrong notes. Hugh Jackman is quite good in this Eastwood-ized version of Logan the surly old lion but the script, co-written by Mangold, forces him into a final moment of gooey sentiment that mars the whole movie.
That said, Logan provides a fitting finale to the Wolverine franchise. It isnt often a Marvel superhero gets to saddle up, tip his hat and ride off into the proverbial sunset.
Amy Krouse Rosenthal - Woman with Terminal Cancer Creates Heartbreaking Dating Profile for Husband:
I"m in pain as I write this. I"m in pain every day. It"s right there, at the front of my pelvis. A dull pressure. Bloating. I"ve had this pain for 15 years, but it"s become worse over the last nine months. I thought it was my polycystic ovary syndrome. My doctor thinks it may be endometriosis. I"m scheduled for surgery in less than three weeks. Instead of relief, I feel fear. Fear of what I could lose. It"s hard to explain, so I"ll leave it to these five quotes from amy krouse rosenthal"s heartbreaking essay that perfectly capture partnership and parenting in the face of fear and loss.
It"s no surprise that Krouse Rosenthal could evoke such emotion with her New York Times essay. The Chicago-born author and filmmaker has written more than 30 children"s books in the last 12 years, many of which landed on the New York Times bestseller list (I Wish You More, Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons, and Uni the Unicorn, to name a few). She"s also published two endearing memoirs Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life and Textbook Amy Krouse Rosenthal as well as worked on several films. Krouse Rosenthal is a prolific and captivating writer, and her words in this essay have resonated deeply.
I"ve thought about death a lot over the last year. After my father passed away last February, it"s all I could think about. But for the last few months, death has been right there, in the front of my mind. Surgery is the only way to get an accurate endometriosis diagnosis; my dad died due to complications from anesthesia. I thought the nagging fear of dying while under was because of how my father passed. But after reading Krouse Rosenthal"s devastating essay, I realized it"s because of so much more. I"m afraid of what the surgeon may discover. I"m afraid they will find more than, using Krouse Rosenthal"s words, the "no biggie" endometriosis I may have.

Most of all, I"m scared of leaving my partner and son behind. I"m afraid of having to let go of a love that has kept me both sane and mad for the last 12 years. I"m scared of the plans that will fall through, of the dreams that will fade. I"m scared of what I do know and what I don"t, and of the uncertainty of certainty.
I"m scared that my partner and son will talk about me in the past tense, sooner than I planned.
I know that I"m not in Krouse Rosenthal"s position. I know that I do have more days with my family. I know that my fears could be unfounded that I"m doing this to myself. But I am still crying as I write this. I"m crying not only because Krouse Rosenthal"s essay hits a little close to home. I"m also crying because this love letter to her husband, Jason, is a love letter no one should have to write. But she did. She wrote this piece because she knew that, even though she couldn"t have "more," she wanted "more" for him. And that"s at the core of partnership. Here are five powerful quotes from Rosenthal"s essay.
When You Have The Future Planned FirstGIPHYIt was 1989. We were only 24. I had precisely zero expectations about this going anywhere. But when he knocked on the door of my little frame house, I thought, "Uh-oh, there is something highly likable about this person." By the end of dinner, I knew I wanted to marry him. Jason? He knew a year later. When Their Presence Is All You Need To Cheer UpGIPHYIf our home could speak, it would add that Jason is uncannily handy. On the subject of food man, can he cook. After a long day, there is no sweeter joy than seeing him walk in the door, plop a grocery bag down on the counter, and woo me with olives and some yummy cheese he has procured before he gets to work on the evenings meal. When The Little Things Only MatterGIPHYIf youre looking for a dreamy, lets-go-for-it travel companion, Jason is your man. He also has an affinity for tiny things: taster spoons, little jars, a mini-sculpture of a couple sitting on a bench, which he presented to me as a reminder of how our family began. When They Want To See You HappyGIPHYThis is a man who emerges from the minimart or gas station and says, "Give me your palm." And, voil, a colorful gumball appears. (He knows I love all the flavors but white.)When True Love Is Not Perfect, But Perfect For YouGIPHYIf he sounds like a prince and our relationship seems like a fairy tale, its not too far off, except for all of the regular stuff that comes from two and a half decades of playing house together. And the part about me getting cancer. Blech.
Krouse Rosenthal"s essay showcases a certain strength and devotion that is both humbling and tragic. No one should have their great love slip away as the result of something totally outside of their control. Krouse Rosenthal deserves the "more" she wants. I wish she could have it. I wish it with every bone in my body.
