Indiana University has hired Archie Miller as its men"s basketball coach. Here are five things to know about Miller:

1. Coaching family

Miller"s brother, Sean, is the coach at Arizona and both played for their father, John Miller, at Blackhawk High School in Beaver Falls, Pa. John Miller was 657-280 in a 35-year coaching career he retired in 2005 including 104-29 in the postseason. He won eight Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League championships, the second most in history, and four Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association titles.

Car rides home after practice, driving from camp to camp, said Archie of his father in a 2014 TribLive.com article. He"s really teaching you how to be a coach, and you don"t even realize it. He knew what hard work was. He knew what dedication was. He knew what preparation was. He knew how to communicate. It starts to come naturally to you. It"s all you do. It"s all you"re around, and it"s all you talk about.

Archie and Sean are one offour Division I head coaching brother combinations, joining the Drews (Scott, Baylor, and Bryce, Vanderbilt), Hurleys (Bobby, Arizona State, and Dan, Rhode Island), and Joneses (Joe, Boston University, and James, Yale).Archie and Sean Miller are the first brothers to coach different teams in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight in the same season (2014).

2. Disciplinarian

Dayton took strong disciplinary actions when players run afoul of the law under Miller.

Dayton dismissed junior forwards Devon Scott and Jalen Robinson in 2014. The decision was related to a series of thefts from residence halls on campus, according to the Dayton Daily News. The players were key figures in Dayton reaching the Elite Eight the previous season, but the Flyers went 25-8 without them.

Dayton suspended star Dyshawn Pierre for a semester during the 2015-16 season after a hearing board determined he violated the university"s policy on unwanted sexual contact, according to the Dayton Daily News. The decision was upheld by a federal judge, who ruled Pierre"s attorney failed to prove that Dayton"s process for determining Pierre"s guilt was biased or unfair. Prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime but university policy had a lower standard of guilt. Pierre returned to the team at the end of his suspension.

3. No sibling rivalry

Sean and Archie are 10 years apart and Archie has said that led his brother to being more of a mentor than a rival.Sean, then an assistant, recruited Archie to North Carolina State as a point guard.Sean also hired Archie as an assistant at Arizona when we got the job in 2009. Archie was there for two seasons, helping with a 14-win turnaround, from 16-15 in 2009-10 to 30-8.

We didnt grow up in the house together two years apart and the backyard, Archie Miller told the Washington Post for a 2015 story. ... I basically look at him sort of as the role model, the guy whom to be like, the guy who to call when you need something, the one that helped you get to where you wanted to get to.

So its a much different relationship in that way. ...Hes a great reference. But no, were not that brotherly relationship thats like that. Were much different. Hes much more of a guy that I look for wisdom and knowledge from than anything else.

4. Meet Ryan Miller

Archie"s given name is Ryan but was called Archie at an early age because his personality was similar to Archie Bunker, thegrouchy TV character, according to the story on TribLive.com.

MORE:"No doubt" Archie Miller will make in-state recruiting a priority

I always felt that someone was looking at me and saying I"m not that good, not that big, he"s sean"s brother, miller told TribLive.com for a 2014 story.I felt that all the time growing up. I wasn"t as friendly. I didn"t go out of my way to make conversation. I always felt like I had a chip on my shoulder.

5. No leaks not a surprise

Much of the talk around the IU job had been focused on UCLA"s Steve Alford and Billy Donovan of the Oklahoma City Thunder. It shouldn"t be a surprise that Miller"s name didn"t surface until minutes before his hire was announced.

He kept his interview in Dayton a secret ... from his own father according to the Dayton Daily News.

My wife and I flew into Houston, and we were sitting there at a Starbucks in the airport about to head to the shuttle when I was like Holy Cow, theres Archie, John Miller said.He said hed take us to the hotel. On the way I said, Hey, what do you hear about the Dayton job? He said, I havent heard anything. I think thats a little above me maybe. He didnt give us a thing. I thought Dayton might be interested, but he didnt give us a clue. Then the next thing hes calling us and telling us hes flying up there to check out the job.

Roy Williams: "Our president tweets out more (BS) than anybody I"ve ever seen"

UNC Men"s Basketball: Roy Williams Post Duke

In his postgame news conference after North Carolinas victory over miami on thursday, unc coach roy williams talked strategy, turnovers, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and President Donald Trumps Twitter habits.

With the 78-53 win over the Hurricanes, the Tar Heels advanced to the ACC tournament semifinals, where it will face Duke on Friday, and it seemed to put Williams in good spirits when he started taking questions.

A reporter asked Williams what his thoughts were on holding the conference tournament in a big city like New York or Washington D.C., amid comments Boeheim made Wednesday criticizing Greensboro, the city that is home to the ACC and a regular host of the ACC tournament.

I like the fact that we move it around, and I love being here in New York. I loved being in D.C. last year, Williams said of the tournament. And the next time we go to Greensboro, Ill love being in Greensboro.

He was also asked if having the tournament in a big city helped with recruiting. He said it used to be more important, but it has been diminished by technologies like social media.

It used to be much more so than I think it is now. Now everybody has got social media, and we dont need The New York Times to find out what in the dickens is going on in the country, Williams said. You know, our president tweets out more (bull----) than anybody Ive ever seen. Weve got social media.

The Hall of Fame coach said that in the old days New York was the media capital of the world, but now everyone has the power to generate their own news.

Media capital of the world is sitting right there, right there, right there, he said.

Mother"s Day
Another day ruined by football

Sons, daughters and husbands have brazenly admitted to ditching their mums in favour of sport

FOOTIE fans have been treated to nine different football games with the FIFA World Cup qualifiers today.

But its safe to say that some mums arent happy that Mothers Day has been overshadowed by the sporting events.

Dozens of women have taken to social media to vent their frustration at the football.

While some are annoyed that theyre being ignored, others have proclaimed that their entire day has been ruined.

One Twitter user said: Great the England game has to be on on Mothers Day.

Why does this note surprise me! My lovely day ruined by football once again.

Another asked: Whose idea was it to put England game on on Mothers Day??

Way to provoke a million arguments up and down the country.

Date of destinyOne Direction fans are convinced March 25 has a special meaning... here"s whyFellas, take noteThis is the single most unattractive thing men can do during s*x"I"m in heaven"Family-of-eight who survive on 107 a week and can"t afford football boots for their son swap lives with a family on 1,700 for seven days - and celebrate with stuffed-crust pizzaStreets of shameThese are officially the most crime-ridden streets in the country... is your address in the top 10?Touching tributePornhub has changed its logo for Mother"s Day... and users aren"t sure what to make of itSAVE YOUR MONEYHere are the six items you should STOP buying from the supermarket immediately

Its not surprising that the women felt irritated, as many football fans proudly announced theyd be ignoring their mums as soon as the whistle was blown for kick-off.

One cheeky chap said: Technically mothers day is over once the England game has started.

Another agreed: Happy Mothers Day mum!! Have fun at home me, JJ and Dad are going to watch the England game X.

Thankfully, arguments didnt quite swamp the nation.

Some mums were delighted that theyd get to enjoy the beautiful game on their big day.

One daughter announced: Having a awesome Mothers Day with my mum now sat in a pub next to work watching the England game.

Another cheerily remarked: Happy Mothers Day today we will be watching 3 football matches :)

Another viewer was simply pleased that the England match pundits had shown her a bit of appreciation.

She joked: At least the commentators on the football wished me happy Mothers Day.

Its not the first time that football has left TV lovers feeling irritated in recent weeks.

Benidorm fans were irate when their favourite sitcom was cancelled to make room for a match.

And EastEnders addicts are sick and tired of the soap being re-scheduled to make room for the FA Cup.

Dave Bliss repeats charge that murdered Baylor basketball player was a drug dealer

Former Baylor basketball coach Dave Bliss, in a documentary about the 2003 murder of Baylor basketball player Patrick Dennehy that premiered Sunday in Austin and will air later this month on Showtime, says he believes Dennehy was a drug dealer and described him as "the worst."

Bliss" comments, which he repeated Sunday in a separate interview, are a significant element of the film "Disgraced," which will air March 31 on Showtime. The documentary is directed by Elkins High School graduate Patrick Kondelis and produced by Bat Bridge Entertainment in Austin.

"Disgraced," which had its premiere at the South by Southwest festival, details Dennehy"s 2003 murder by Baylor teammate Carlton Dotson and Bliss" subsequent efforts to cover up the fact that he was paying for Dennehy"s scholarship, which was a NCAA rules violation.

It was long believed that Bliss fabricated the story, which he coached players to share with investigators, that Dennehy was a drug dealer.

Sunday, however, Bliss repeated his words from the film that the story was true.

"He failed numerous drug tests," Bliss said in a phone interview. "I let his parents know when he failed those tests. Things escalated from there. All I did was repeat what players told me. I stand by what I said."

The film, however, includes comments by Waco police and others that there was no evidence that Dennehy was a drug dealer.

The 115-minute film includes several interview segments with Bliss, who is now coaching at Southwest Christian University in Bethany, Okla., but none more eye-catching than the segment he repeats his assertions about Dennehy.

"He (Dennehy) was selling drugs. He sold to all the white guys on campus," Bliss said. "... He was the worst."

As he repeated his comments about Dennehy, Bliss said, "You"ll never be able to use this," and got out of his chair to continue talking with his face out of camera range but with his voice still audible.

Bliss, who resigned at Baylor in August 2003, acknowledged that he glommed onto the plan to smear Dennehy in an attempt to save his job.

"I got that from the investigative committee," he said. "The fact that I used their thoughts was reprehensible, but I didn"t come up with the idea. I used the idea that the committee was pursuing."

In the film, he said, "I"m trying to grovel for higher ground. I got in the mud with the pigs, and I paid the price, and the pigs liked it."

Asked if he was aware that the camera was rolling when he made his comments to Kondelis, Bliss said Sunday, "I"m a little disappointed that he used it, but the reality is the truth."

"Now the real story is out there," he added. "Everybody thought that I made it up. When I agreed to speak for the documentary, I did so because I thought the story had been misrepresented for all these years. I feel badly that the whole thing occurred, and it was reprehensible, but everything I shared is the truth."

The Dennehy case has been largely forgotten in the wake of subsequent athletic successes at Baylor and, in recent months, a new controversy concerning Baylor officials allegedly turning a blind eye to a series of sexual assaults committed by students, including football players recruited by former coach Art Briles.

"Disgraced," however, drives home the point that the Dennehy case may be the most notorious college sports scandal in Texas history, even overshadowing the SMU pay-for-play scandal of the 1980s that resulted in the only imposition of the NCAA"s "death penalty."

"To call it a college sports scandal is to minimize it," Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Danny Robbins, a former Chronicle reporter who covered the Dennehy-Dotson case for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, said in the film. "An innocent person (Dennehy) lost their life."

Bliss" attempt to coach his players to tell investigators that Dennehy was a drug dealer was exposed by Baylor assistant coach Abar Rouse, who taped his conversations with Bliss and gave the tapes to the NCAA and to Robbins. The tapes are heard for the first time publicly in "Disgraced."

Rouse, who attended the Sunday premiere in Austin, said "I think it"s pretty sad that here we are. 14 years later, and he is continuing to besmirch Patrick"s name. ... I think the camera caught Dave being Dave."

Rouse, who was unable to find another job in coaching after compiling evidence against Bliss, said he is disturbed that Bliss remains in coaching.

"What will the parents of those young men think when they see this?" Rouse said. "If this film reveals to them what he really is, then that is a blessing in disguise for those families."

The film also suggests that Dotson may have been mentally unfit to enter a guilty plea to Dennehy"s murder. He was sentenced to 35 years, which was more than Dotson"s family said he expected but lighter than prosecutors believe that he deserved.

John Segrest, the McLennan County district attorney at the time, told Kondelis that Dotson"s court-appointed attorney, Abel Reyna, said he wanted to change Dotson"s plea to guilty because a trial would make Baylor University look bad in the public eye.

Others interviewed in the film question Dotson"s mental stability and his ability to comprehend the charges against him. Kondelis also details reports that Dennehy and Dotson had been threatened prior to the shooting incident by another Baylor basketball player and by the player"s cousin.

Bliss, based on his comments in the film, still believes himself to be the primary casualty of the Dennehy-Dotson matter, the director said.

"I feel he blames Dennehy for what happened to him," Kondelis said. "He sees himself as a victim."

While the film does not refer directly to the current controversy involving Briles, who was fired after an investigation conducted by a Philadelphia law firm, and former Baylor president Kenneth Starr, who was demoted and later resigned, it does include an oblique reference to the potential for more trouble in comments by Grady Irvin Jr., Dotson"s former attorney.

"If Baylor doesn"t respond to requests as to what was going on, the cancer is always going to be there," Irvin said, referring to the Dennehy case and what he thought was the unwillingness of some Baylor officials to face the issue. "And it will resurface if you don"t get it all. It will come back."

One Direction star Liam was at her side for all of the birth on Wednesday.

The overjoyed star, 33, and boyfriend Liam, 23 welcomed a son on Wednesday at Londons Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

One revealed: Cheryl gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday, and both are doing well.

Liam didnt leave Cheryls side throughout the birth, and like her, he is besotted with their new son and cant wait to take him home.

The heavily pregnant star was admitted to the hospital early this week in preparation for the birth.

And she is believed to have stayed in the 16 bed Kensington Wing, which claims to offer the ultimate birthing experience.
