Juvenile x Young Thug "Red Sox" (WSHH Exclusive - Official Audio)
Pablo Sandoval is in better shape right now than at this time last year and hisstats clearly reflect it.
In 21 Grapefruit League games this spring, Panda went 22-for-65 (.338 batting average) with a .348 on-base percentage, .677 slugging percentage, 1.025 OPS, five homers, sevendoubles, 20 RBIs, 11 runs, one walk and 12 strikeouts.
He also committed just one error in 42 total chances.
In 19 Grapefruit League games during2016, Sandoval went 10-for-49 (.204 batting average) with a .231 on-base percentage, .408 slugging percentage, .639 OPS, two homers, four doubles, seven RBIs, three runs, two walksand six strikeouts.
And he committed four errors in 34 total chances last year.
Opening Day is today. You ready? Pablo seems ready.
Boston Red Sox righty Rick Porcello starts opposite Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed ace Gerrit Cole at Fenway Park at 2:05 p.m.
Sandoval looks to carry his spring training momentum into the regular season after he took just six at-bats in 2016 before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.
The third baseman"s return is one of the top five Red Sox storylines heading into 2017:
5. Pablo Sandoval"s return and whether he"ll produce and maintain his weight around where it is now:
Sandoval"sproduction is linked to his weight.
Staying at a reasonable weight and nimble will allow him to stay at thirdbase every day.
We saw what happened during 2016 when he continued to gain weight throughout the season. He finished "16 tied for worst among qualified major league third basemen in defensive runs saved (negative-11), per Fangraphs.com.
Sandoval lost 22 pounds ina six-week span during the 2013 season and he reportedly lost more than 40 pounds during the offseason leading into the 2014 season. But both times he put the weight back on pretty quickly.
the red sox need to monitor how he"s eating -- even after games.
If he puts weight on, people will notice and it will become a story. If he has a terrific comeback season, it will be a better story.
4. Chris Sale"s first season as a Boston Red Sox.
Recent history hasn"t been too kind to Red Sox starting pitchers in their first seasons with the team. Rick Porcello, David Price, John Lackey and Josh Beckett allunderachieved in their first years here.
Sale seems to have the perfect personality to eliminate all outside distractions and dominate like he has the past fiveseasons when he"s finished in the top six each year in AL Cy Young voting.
Pedro Martinez and Curt Schilling showed it can be done.
Martinez went19-7 with a 2.89 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 33 starts in 1998. Schilling went 21-6 with a 3.26 ERA in 32 starts in 2004 (and helped lead Boston to its first World Series title in 86 years).
Beckett had the personality to succeed in his first year here but he faced an adjustment period going from the NL to the AL. And perhaps his personality made him resist some adjustments during his first year.
3. Too many injuries and how it reflects on Dave Dombrowski.
Tyler Thornburg (right shoulder impingement), David Price (elbow) and Drew Pomeranz (left forearm flexor strain) all will begin the 2017 season on the disabled list.
Thornburg is the second setup man in two years to suffer a significant injury after Dombrowski traded for him.
Carson Smith, who Dombrowsitraded for December 2015, threw only 2 2/3 innings during 2016 before undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery.
It"s not a great look that most of Dombrowski"s pitching acquisitions have failed to stay healthy.
He and manager John Farrell seemed to get a little too sensitive/defensive late inspring training, saying the media pushed/created the storyline about how the team"s shoulder program might have contributed to Thornburg"s injury.
But Farrell was the first person to mention how the shoulder program might have affected Thornburg back on March 10.
2. The starting pitching depth and whether the Clay Buchholz trade will come back to haunt the Red Sox.
The Red Sox traded Clay Buchholz in large part to keep their 2017 payroll under the $195 million tax threshold.
Would Dombrowski have dealt Buchholzif heknew David Price was going to miss at least all of April with an elbow injury?
Would Dombrowski have traded Buchholz if he knew Pomeranz would struggle during spring training?
Would he have made the deal with the Phillies if he knew Roenis Elias was going tosuffer a right intercostal muscle strain?
Or if he knew minor league free agent Kyle Kendrick would be his top depth starter coming out ofspring training camp? Kendrick posted a 4-0 record and 2.18 ERA in eight outings (seven starts), 33 innings.
Henry Owens continues to struggle with command issues and Brian Johnson needs more work at Triple-A Pawtucket. The Red Sox don"t have much depth beyond Kendrick.
As mentioned above, Dombrowski and Farrell already seemed to get sensitive over the Thornburg situation. How much pressure will Dombrowski feel if Price or Pomeranz is lost for the season?
Pomeranz, who underwent a stem cell shot in the offseason, is expected to return from the DL on April 9. But we"ve seen plenty of pitchers receive injections and try to rehab, then shut it down whenissues persist.
1. Getting beyond the ALDS and how David Price, other starters pitch duringthe postseason.
As mentioned on MassLive.com yesterday, Price could return from his elbow injury and dominate during the regular season -- but a successful year for him will be defined only by whether he wins during the postseason. That"s just reality after how much attention has been placed on his postseason shortcomings.
Price lasted only 3 1/3 innings in his ALDS loss to the Indians last year. He dropped to 0-8 with a 5.74 ERA (37 runs, 58 innings) in his nine postseason starts.
Rick Porcello lasted only 4 1/3 innings in his 2016 ALDS loss to the Indians. He is 0-3 with a 5.66 ERA in nine outings (three starts) during his postseason career.
Chris Sale has never pitched in the postseason.
It will be fascinating to see how this team performs in the playoffs if they make it that far.
Miranda Lambert Gives Emotional Performance of "Tin Man" at 2017 ACM Awards | Billboard News by Lauren Tingle 11h ago
At Sundays (April 2) 52nd annual ACM awards live in las vegas, there was no shortage of electric collaborations, moving message songs and random public displays of affection.
The night kicked off with a wild medley of live hits by Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Florida Georgia Line.
Before being crowned the ACMs entertainer of the year, Aldean lit up the stage first with Lights Come On, then his friend Bryan made the room move with Move, and then cameras panned to Florida Georgia Line on a satellite stage for H.O.L.Y. Underwood then took over with an abbreviated version of Church Bells, and then Urban entertained with a shortened version of Wasted Time from in the middle of the arena.
The marathon opening number wrapped with the first true collaboration of the night a Chuck Berry tribute with Johnny B. Goode featuring surprise guest Joe Walsh backing Dierks Bentley and, on rock piano, Bryan.
When Sam Hunt took the stage for Body Like a Back Road, he made sure to share the spotlight with his fiance Hannah Lee Fowler. Midway through his performance, he walked into the audience, sat next to her in his empty folding chair, put his arm around his future wife and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Bentley and Aldean then returned to the stage to sing Black and Any Ole Barstool, respectively.
Then the show took an emotional turn when Maren Morris sang her new song I Could Use a Love Song. Miranda Lambert then silenced the crowd with a moving solo performance of Tin Man, a song she co-wrote with Jack Ingram for the ACMs album of the year, The Weight of These Wings. Reba McEntire and Lauren Daigle brought a touch of gospel when they sang Back to G*d from McEntires Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope.
The arena audience lit up in thousands waving LED lights for Rascal Flatts performance of Its Yours If You Want It.
Through the magic of television, special effects changed Urban playing Blue Aint Your Color into a blue on black-and-white performance before transitioning into full color for The Fighter with Underwood.
Surrounded by a backdrop of bouquets, Little Big Town brought some major flower power to the stage when they sang their newest single Happy People from The Breaker.
Then Lady Antebellum brought a massive college marching band to back them on their horn-heavy hit, You Look Good, and everyone in the T-Mobile arena clapped along to Brothers Osborne as they performed their latest single, It Aint My Fault.
Decked out in a sparkly pink romper, Kelsea Ballerini lit up the stage with Yeah Boy as flashing neon lights illuminated her set. Then Bryan returned to sing his latest hit Fast in a mirrored box surrounded by strings of Edison lights.
In one of the nights most anticipated duets, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw sang with pure power during the award show premiere of their newest single Speak to a Girl.
They were followed by Chris Stapleton, who delivered an electric performance of his newest song, Second One to Know. The song is from his forthcoming album due May 5.
Brett Eldredges Somethin Im Good At had cameras following the singer as he sang his way into the arena through a room full of Vegas VIPs. Then his former CMT On Tour co-headliner, Thomas Rhett and Morris took over with Craving You.
Old Dominion entertained with their new song No Such Thing as a Broken Heart, about loving the world no matter what. Cole Swindell and Bentley rocked their new collaboration, Flatliner as did Jon Pardi when he performed his three-week No. 1 Dirt on My Boots.
The finale Florida Georgia Line and Backstreet Boys singing G*d, Your, Mama, and Me and Everybody (Backstreet Boys Back) had artists dancing with each other in the aisles.
One of the best reactions caught on camera was McGraws in a moment of genuine shock when he saw Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley dance choreography live with Backstreet Boys.

maren morris has already won one ACM Award this year: it was announced that she is the winner of Best New Female Vocalist. Shes also up for Best Female Vocalist, Single Record of the Year (for My Church) and Album of the Year (for Hero).
Hero has yielded a pair of hit singlesMy Church and 80s Mercedesbut the album is filled with great songs, including How Its Done. And, as she recently toldRadio.com, to get the song done, she had to press her producer to let her finish it. Happily, her intuition won the day.
I had this line, Let me show you how its done. And I wanted it to be sort of a love song, but a sexy love song and not take itself too seriously. But my friend and co-writer Natalie Hembyshes amazingwe were downstairs at her publishing house one day and we just had this crappy organ sound going, and we wrote the verse and the hook of the chorus, essentially, and we ran out of time that day. And I was saying I was going to LA next week, and Im gonna be writing with [producer] busbee, who were both friends with, and I was like, Do you mind if I show him this song and maybe we finish it out there? And she was like, Go ahead. I would love that."
I brought it to busbee, and he was like, Yeah, this is cool. Lets start something new though." And that was the wrong call.
I was like, Actually, I would really love just give me one hour on this song and play around with it, and I feel like it could be really, really cool and big and just like R&B-sounding, but still have this country-structured lyric and say a very confident statement.
And I loved that perspective because I dont think its shown enough: the girls sort of taking charge. Its always the dude in the song thats like, Ill pick you up when you fall, and blah, blah, blah. Its like sometimes they need a woman to come in and save them.

So I was glad that he humored me. And we finished the song, and I remember he said, we were listening back to it and he was like, Yeah, you were right. Im glad that we hammered on this." In other words, she showed him how its done.
See if Morris wins any more trophies at this years ACM Awards this Sunday night at 8:00 pm on CBS.
Before the Tar Heels play Oregon in the Final Four, news has broken out that North Carolina will be losing one of their coaches for the 2017 season. Just like the football team has lost several of their staff in the offseason, the basketball team will soon be without assistant coach C.B. McGrath. The long-time coach is reportedly in agreement to be the next head coach of the UNC Wilmington Seahawks.
McGrath has gone everywhere Roy Williams has gone for the last 20 years. After playing under Williams for Kansas from 1994-1998, he joined the coaching staff there through the 2003 season. When Roy Williams was hired by North Carolina, he made the leap to Chapel Hill alongside his former coach.
This move became possible after NC State fired head coach Matt Gottfried after six seasons without much hope in sight for the program. UNC Wilmington head coach Kevin Keatts was hire to fill the vacancy earlier this month. Now McGrath is shifting over to replace Keatts.
In his time with UNC, McGrath has assisted in recruiting and scouting, while also providing bench coaching duties. He oversaw the teams coaches clinic and the autographed basketball program, which supported local charities. McGrath was a big part of Carolina basketball, and he will certainly be missed.
Not only will North Carolina be losing a strong coach, but they have lost one of their best recruiters. McGrath built himself a reputation as a strong recruiter after working with stars like Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson, Joel Berry, Kennedy Meeks, and Isaiah Hicks. He also helped to bring in guys like Luke Maye and Seventh Woods, who have bright futures ahead of them.
This is probably not the greatest time for the news to come out, since the team is in the middle of a run at the National Championship. The players will have to look past something like this, which can create unwanted distractions, in order to overcome the Ducks and whoever they might face next.
