Countdown To Iowa - Dr Ben Carson On Hannity
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson gave some bizarre answers during Thursday"s GOP debate, the final chance for candidates to make their pitch to voters before next week"s Iowa caucuses.
Responding to a question about Russia, Carson -- not known for foreign policy prowess -- delivered an indecipherable answer involving, among other things, horses and oil.
Putin is a one-horse, uh, country. Oil and energy, he said.
What?
He also named some Baltic countries and may have threatened to invade them, but it was difficult to tell.
Several times during the evening, Carson looked like he was waking from a deep sleep when the moderators called on him.
In his closing statement, Carson took a non-traditional approach. Deviating from the usual stump speech conclusion, he decided to recite the preamble to the Constitution.
We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
"Folks, it"s not too late," he concluded. "Enough said."
Unfortunately for Carson, he flubbed it a little, saying "securing the benefits" instead ofsecure the blessings."
If he wanted to jazz it up a bit, he could have performedthe song from Schoolhouse Rock.
Good try, Ben!
