Priyanka Chopra Interview | Red Carpet | Oscars 2017
While movies are at the core of the annual cinema extravaganza called the Academy Awards, fashion is also an integral part of this event. Many wait for it to see what their favourite celebrities will step out wearing. Like every year, the 89th Academy Awards aka the Oscars 2017 also had celebrities walking the red carpet in their finest. Most stuck to safe options in black and white, but a few others did experiment with the colour of the night gold.
Here are the looks we took note of:
1. Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra has mastered the art of making impressive entries at international red carpet events. Like 2016, this year, too, the actress opted for an ivory gown. But unlike the flow-y Zuhair Murad number (she wore last year), she settled for a Ralph & Russo structural silhouette this time around. Not everyone loved the look (one Twitter user compared it to a cardboard box), but we thought it was chic.
2. Meryl Streep
The Florence Foster Jenkins actress stunned in a navy blue Elie Saab Couture half gown, paired with pencil pants. The embellished off-shoulder upped the glamourquotient for the outfit.
3. Nicole Kidman
In a n**e beaded Armani Prive gown, Nicole Kidman looked graceful and elegant. Her choicealso showed off to perfection, her sculpted shoulders.
4. Naomie Harris
While Naomie Harris glamorous white Calvin Klein dress with an extended cape looked chic, her sandals grabbed more attention. The contrasting yellow asymmetrical stilettos were a great choice for this look.
5. Emma Stone
Emma Stone brought back the 60s with her gold Givenchy number that was accentuated with a lot of fringe. As the night panned out, her choice of colour proved to be the perfect complement to the Oscar she took home asBest Actress in a Leading Role for La La Land.
6. Taraji P Henson
Taraji P Hensons deep blue Alberta Ferretti velvet gown was all about Hollywood glamour. The thigh-high slit complete with an off-shoulder would have been perfect for accepting an Oscar in alas, she wasn"t nominated for Hidden Figures.
7. Kirsten Dunst
It was Dior Haute Couture that Kirsten Dunst opted for, for Oscar night. The voluminous off-shoulder gown was exquisitely feminine and perfect.
8. Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel redefined glamour in a body-skimming gold KaufmanFranco gown. The outfit had a blinding amount of bling, ensuring Jessica stood out.
9. Viola Davis
Viola Davis loves colour, and her past red carpet appearances are proof of this statement. At the Oscars, the Hollywood actor opted for yet another bright number by Armani Priv. The off-shoulder gown, which had a gathering at the neck, brought forth some much-needed brightness on the red carpet.
10. Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae also opted for Elie Saab like Meryl Streep, but her choice was much more dramatic. The elaborate tulle gown was covered with feathers and sequins with a sheer embellished bodice. In the past, Monae has said that she often opts for black and white for her outfits as a tribute to her working class roots.
With the women acing their style game, we have to say, the men don"t get much attention. But here are three who definitely make it to our honourable mentions list, just for being do dapper and sauve.
Ryan Gosling
The suave actor had a retro vibe about his look with a white ruffled shirt and a black velvet tuxedo by Gucci. It seems he wanted to stick to his look from the film he was nominated for, La La Land.
Dev Patel
Dev Patel moved things around in a Burberry monochrome suit. The white blazer-shirt combination with black trousers and a bow tie of the same colour was a sartorial win.
Mahershala Ali
The winner of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar made a sharp statement in a black Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo. The well-fitted suit only added to the actor"s aura on his big night.
Whose Oscar look did you like best?
