Before LaMelo Ball: Remembering the night two HS players scored ...

HE SCORED 92 POINTS IN GAME?? LAMELO BALL

You"ve probably heard about it by now. You"ve probablyread about it. You"ve probablysatthrough at least some of the 15-plus-minute highlight clip of California high school basketball star LaMelo Ball"s 92-point performance.

The 6-1 sophomore, a UCLA commit and the younger brother of Bruins freshmanLonzo Ball, went 37 for61 from the field and even dropped seven assists to help his Chino Hills squad, ranked No. 8 in the most recent USA Today top 25 poll,to a 146-123 win against Los Osos on Tuesday night. Another Ball brother, Chino Hills senior LiAngelo, also a UCLA commit, didn"t play in the game.

If, somehow, you aren"t up on it, familiarize yourselfimmediately.

MORE: Ball dedicates 92-point game to girl who needs heart

LaMelo Ball, balling out the way he did, nearly getting his Wilt Chamberlain on and reaching the century mark in a game with eight-minute quarters, is extremely rare. In a 2015 piece, "A Blessing and a Burden: Why Scoring 100 Points in a Basketball Game Is Such a Controversial Achievement," Complex reported only 25 high school players inhistoryhave ever scored 100 points in a game.

If one player doing it is rare, two doing it on the same day might seem nearly impossible. But it happened.

On Jan. 16, 2001, a time before YouTube and Twitter, two prep stars, Camden (NJ) combo guard Dajuan Wagner and Heritage Christian Academy (TX)wing Cedrick Hensley, went for 100on the same night.

Wagner, then widely considered the nation"s top overall prospect along with fellow future preps-to-pros studs Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry, got more press. The son of Louisville legend Milt Wagner, Dajuan Wagner scored 100 on 42-for-60 shooting, including a school-record10 3-pointers in a 157-67 win against Gloucester Township Tech. He had 46 at the half and could"ve done more damage had he not exited the game with more than three minutes remaining.

You can watch the entire game here.

2017 NBA DRAFT: Lonzo Ball a top 5 pick in latest SN mock

It was the first time since 1979 thata high school player had scored 100 points in a game.

"A hundred is a magic number," a 17-year-old Dajuan Wagner told Sports Illustrated. "But scoring 100 was never a goal."

But Wagner wasn"t even the highest scorer that night, becauseHensley scored101.Hensley knocked down 46 of 59 attempts, hittingjust five 3-pointers on his way to the101-point night in a merciless 178-28 drilling of lowly Banff Christian.

"My teammates kept encouraging me," Hensley told ESPN way back when. "They told me how many points I had to go. I forgot to get the ball (after the game). ...I didn"t even think about it. I was just so tired."

FIELD OF 68: Syracuse bounces into tourney projections

Wagner finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in New Jersey high school basketball history with 3,462 points. Heplayed one season at Memphis, where his father was an assistant under then Tigers coach John Calipari, averaging 21.2 points and 3.6 assists per game and earning first-team All-Conference USA honors. He was taken by the Cavaliers with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he averaged 13.4 points while playing 47 games, starting 24, but never regained that form after myriad injuries, including a colon condition that derailed his career by 2007.

Once dubbed the next Allen Iverson, Wagner"s 100-point game 16 years ago is the singular most memorable display he ever had on the hardwood.Hensley, a top 100 recruit out of high school, never came close to averaging doublefigures in three years at the University of Houston, but he"ll forever be a member of a hoops fraternity of which the likes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James can"t claim membership.

Bet your bottom dollar, the hot takeslamenting the lack of defense played and set pieces run in Tuesday night"s game, along with the thinkpieces on sportsmanship, are on their way. Thosetrains arenever late, but keeping it well, 100, a 16-year-oldscoring 92points is a feat at which to marvel regardless of the circumstances.

Who knowsthe next time we"ll see anything like it?

GOP"s silencing of Sen. Elizabeth Warren only raises her profile as the Democratic alternative to Trump

Mitch McConnell Cuts Off Elizabeth Warren"s Speech & Has Her Silenced

The winner of CNN"s prime-time debate between likely 2020 presidential contendersSens. Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz was clear: Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

The Massachusetts Democrat punctured the political noise in a defining way late Tuesday night when Senate Republicans silenced her reading of Coretta Scott King"s years-ago criticisms of Trump"s attorney general pick, Sen. Jeff Sessions.

Warren was voted down by Senate Republicans "The senator will take her seat," said the presiding officer in a dramatic display of political clumsiness coming amid concerns over Sessions" past views on raceand at the start of Black History Month.

The response was swift and unrelenting.

"READ THIS. Tonight the GOP silenced @ SenWarren AND Coretta Scott King. Below is the letter," tweeted actress Kerry Washington to her nearly 4.5 million followers.

Twitter delved into the absurdity of a Senate procedure, Rule XIX, that forbids senators from "impugning" the character of another senator, even if it means calling out allegations of racism in a letter from the widow of the slain civil rights leader.

And then there was the made-for-T-shirts quote from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as he justified the vote against Warren: "She was warned;she was given an explanation. Nevertheless she persisted."

"Nevertheless she persisted" quickly popped up on mock campaign gear on Twitter.

By midday Wednesday #ShePersisted overcame #LetLizSpeak as a trending hashtag on Twitter.

The outcome produced powerful short-term gains for Democrats who are struggling to channel voter unrest over Trump"s agenda into a common cause.

Fundraising was surely robust "we WILL make our voices heard," Warren dashed off in an appeal to donors.

But in the longer run, it remains unclear whether Warren"s voice is the best for the party as it tries to rebuild after the 2016 election that delivered Trump to the White House.

Democrats continue soul-searching over their electoral losses, particularly the drift of formerly Democratic blue-collar voters into Trump"s orbit in states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

House Democrats were meeting later Wednesday in Baltimore for an annual retreat where that conversation was expected to dominate.

Sanders beat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton during the primaries in some of those states, but it is unclear whether the populist message he and Warren deliver can work more broadly with a general election audience.

Other Democrats are trying to rebuild the party in a way that relies on that populist message but without alienating more moderate suburban voters who also moved toward Trump.

At this point, though, Democrats are happy to take their gains when they can, and Warren on Wednesday was making the rounds of media interviews in a victory lap of her moment.

Other senators took turns reading from King"s letter on the Senate floor, and none of the Republicans dared rebuke them.

As for Cruz and Sanders, fresh from their CNN debate on Obamacare, they, too, were talking about Warren.

Cruz, the Texas senator who was the last rival to Trump in the 2016 GOP primary, called her attacks on Sessions "slanderous."

"When the left doesn"t have any other arguments, they go and just accuse everyone of being a racist," he told Fox News.

And Sanders stood by Warren"s side. "It is unconscionable that Sen. Mitch McConnell silenced Sen. Elizabeth Warren because she read a letter from Coretta Scott King," the Vermont independent tweeted.

Christie Brinkley"s Daughter Sailor Reveals How Hard It Is to Follow in Her Mom"s Supermodel Footsteps

Christie Brinkley and her daughters grace SI

Christie Brinkley and her babes broke the Internet with their sexy Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photo shoot. The 63-year-old supermodel returned to her bikini-clad ways after a 13-year departure, this time joined by daughters Alexa Ray Joel, 31, and Sailor Brinkley Cook, 18. And while Sailor is familiar with posing for the camera, she found stripping down to a tiny two-piece next to her iconic model mom intimidating.

I grew up looking at these photos of my mom, never thinking that I would ever be able to do that, Sailor confesses to PEOPLE in our latest issue, on newsstands now. Theres no denying the 18-year-old blonde, blue-eyed model is definitely brinkleys mini-me, but her introduction into the industry wasnt immediately positive.

Sailor, who first started modeling at the age of 15, says she fell victim to social media cyber bullying during an awkward phase in her early teens, and while the SI Swim shoot was not validation the experience felt very empowering and liberating.

To be compared to my mother who has this extremely successful career under her belt when Im just getting started? And to have people say Im never going to have what she has or be what she is. Im not trying to be her. But Im fine. I dont get hurt by this stuff, she shares. It was just such a surreal moment for me because Ive looked up to all the SI models and my mom theyve always been my inspirations.

Brinkleys protective mom instincts have kicked in, as shes ready to protect her daughters and herself from Internet body-shamers.

It bothers me just on a general level that somehow people feel empowered to say things that are hurtful. she says. This was unthinkable back in the day. Theres this general sense now that its okay to do this.

I kept saying, If youre ever going to get your picture taken in a bathing suit, doing it with Sports Illustrated is the way to go. It may look like youre all alone on this beautiful deserted beach but there are two guys standing there with reflectors, putting the light on you, she says.
