Sightseeing in Northern Michigan: Claude Shannon

Claude Shannon Google Doodle. 100th Birthday of "The Father of Information Theory"

If you like the internet, your cell phone, television or computer, you have a Northern Michigan native to thank.

Claude Shannon would be 100 years old this weekend.

In this weeks Sightseeing in Northern Michigan, we take a look at why everyone should celebrate.

In downtown g*****d sits the bust of Claude Shannon, probably the most famous person you"ve never heard of.

Claude Shannon is a famous native son of g*****d, Michigan, says Keith Moore, Otsego County Historical Society. A boy who grew up at the turn of the century from 1916 to 1932 and then actually changed the course of history.

Our modern world may be very different if it weren"t for Claude Shannon.

He"s an inventor, a juggler and kind of a humorous guy, but most importantly for us today, he"s the founder of the theories which led to the digital communications revolution. So we would not have laptops, we would not have the internet, we would not have pictures from Mars, all because of zeros and ones that were able to be communicated, explains Jim Akans, Otsego County Historical Society.

As a kid, Claude was a tinkerer. He even created his own little communication network.

He had a friend who lived down the block and he had developed a telegraph system between his house and his friend"s house utilizing barbed wire, so he was always thinking, says Jim.

Claude graduated from g*****d a year early. At U of M, he got his degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering.

It was in 1938 he got his Masters from MIT and he wrote a paper, and today, some say it"s the greatest master thesis of the 20th century, says Keith. He was taking Boolean algebra, his mathematical background, and applying it to relay circuits, his engineering background. He wasn"t building on theory he was creating it. He was founding it.

The paper he wrote in 1948 was the real game-changer.

In 1948, he wrote the mathematical theory on communication. From that he said, you need to understand that all information can be communicated mathematically. That"s where we get bits, that"s where we get binary, explains Keith. People referred to that as the Magna Carta of the digital age. That paper changed the course of human history.

Claude"s daughter, Peggy wrote the Otsego County Historical Society a letter describing her father.

Some words I would use to describe my father are playful, resourceful, curious, confident, insightful, practical, shy, great sense of humor and often lost in thought.

Keith says, Lots of stories about him riding his unicycle down the hallways of Bell Labs while he"s juggling as he"s thinking. People enjoyed him.

This Saturday Claude Shannon would have turned 100 years old. Many countries will be celebrating, especially his hometown of g*****d. This weekend you can "Applaud Claude" at the Otsego County Museum.

He"s one of the most interesting men and one of the most important men that you never knew. So come down and find out about him and get to know Claude, says Jim.

Chris Bosh"s rift with the Miami Heat is getting worse

Miami Heat vs Charlotte Hornets - Game 4 - Full Highlights | April 25, 2016 | NBA Playoffs

After dropping a pivotal Game 5 at home on Wednesday night, the Miami Heat face elimination the next time they take the court. And, just like every game they"ve played since the All-Star break, Chris Bosh won"t be around to help.

But why? Boshinsists he"s healthy enough to play and even traveled on the team"s charter flight back from Charlotte on Monday -- something he hadn"t done since February. The Heat won"t budge, though. They continue to put his health above everything else, and, unfortunately, the disagreement has created an apparent rift between both sides that"s getting messier by the day (via Miami Herald):

The difference of opinion between Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat regarding his treatment and potential return from blood clots, which has been playing out behind the scenes, has finally gone public...For months now, both the Heat and Bosh have maintained a code of silence publicly. The Heat has been the more cautious party, making it known behind the scenes that just because an outside doctor clears the 11-time All-Star, it doesnt mean the team will be comfortable letting him play.

Bosh and his wife have taken to social media to let their followers know he"s ready and willing to get back on the floor:

A couple main issues are at play. First, is Bosh actually healthy? The team"s stance is clear and their intentions are in the right place. Bosh"s physical well being is the priority over how they conclude the 2015-16 season, as it most definitely should be, 10 times out of 10.

Beyond that, there"s a real question of whether adding Bosh to the lineup would actually make them a better team at this stage in the year. He hasn"t played NBA minutes in two months, and in that time Miami found success adopting a speedy brand of small ball that"s helped open up the offense.

Spoelstra trying to steal a couple of minutes w/ McRoberts against Zeller. Would be a good time for Chris Bosh to rip off suit. (Kidding...)

Ethan J. Skolnick (@EthanJSkolnick)April 28, 2016

Throw a rusty Bosh in at the four, even if it"s for 15 minutes off the bench, and all of a sudden the identity that carried them to a three seed gets thrown off track. It"s a tricky situation for both sides, but the Heat have no incentive to keep Bosh out if he"s truly healthy enough to play. So, maybe everyone should calm down, take a deep breath and come back even stronger next year.

Second-round mock draft: Myles Jack, Cody Whitehair, Noah Spence among talent still available

Noah Spence 40-Yard Dash (Eastern Kentucky, DE) | 2016 NFL Combine

32. Cleveland: ILB Myles Jack, UCLAThe Browns have 11 picks remaining -- including three in the third, fourth and fifth rounds, giving them an astonishing 10 of the next 142 picks. In other words, they have plenty of opportunities to address needs, and can take a chance on Jack, whose risk-reward ratio is right.

33. Tennessee: CB Mackensie Alexander, ClemsonA chance to upgrade the secondary with a first-round-caliber talent is one the Titans should take.

34. Dallas: DE Noah Spence, Eastern KentuckyExactly the kind of player the Cowboys often take a chance on, and with Greg Hardy not returning, Dallas needs some explosion off the edge.

35. San Diego: TE Hunter Henry, ArkansasWith Ladarius Green leaving and Antonio Gates entering his 14th season, here is a chance to ensure a smooth transition -- and also take some of the pressure off the future Hall of Famer.

36. Baltimore: CB Kendall Fuller, Virginia TechAn aggressive man corner should fit well in Baltimore.

37. Kansas City (from San Francisco): OLB Kamalei Correa, Boise StateWith Justin Houston lost for the season, the Chiefs need an extra edge rusher to work with Tamba Hali and Dee Ford.

38. Jacksonville: G Cody Whitehair, Kansas StateWith Ramsey addressing a big need, the Jaguars can focus on providing better protection for Blake Bortles.

39. Tampa Bay: S Vonn Bell, Ohio StateBell fills a pressing need in Tampa Bay"s defense.

40. N.Y. Giants: ILB Reggie Ragland, AlabamaBig Blue needs a tackling machine in the worst way.

41. Chicago: DE Jarran Reed, AlabamaJohn Fox"s defensive reconstruction needs some fortification up front. Reed could start right away.

42. Miami: RB Derrick Henry, AlabamaThe Dolphins would have loved for Ezekiel Elliott to fall, but didn"t reach for a running back. If Henry is here, their patience will have paid off. A three-pick run on "Bama stars would be interesting if it actually happened, as well.

43. Tennessee (from Philadelphia through Los Angeles): DE/DT Jonathan Bullard, Florida He has versatility to go inside and outside in the Titans" scheme.

44. Oakland: DT A"Shawn Robinson, AlabamaA long and somewhat unexpected fall for Robinson ends.

45. Tennessee (from Los Angeles): WR Michael Thomas, Ohio StateAfter fortifying the protection in Round 1, it"s time to get Marcus Mariota some targets.

46. Detroit: DT Andrew Billings, BaylorThe Lions need to rebuild their defensive line, which hasn"t recovered from the twin departures of Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh.

47. New Orleans: CB Xavien Howard, BaylorNew Orleans has plenty of reconstruction work looming on its defense.

48. Indianapolis: DL Chris Jones, Mississippi StateNot necessarily the biggest need, but a good fit. Indianapolis needs to continue focusing on its lines and building from the inside out.

49. Buffalo: DT Austin Johnson, Penn StateJohnson should be able to slide alongside Marcell Dareus.

50. Atlanta: DE Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma StateAtlanta"s quest to upgrade its defense continues. Ogbah and first-round pick Keanu Neal are the kind of players Dan Quinn would have targeted when he was in Seattle as the Seahawks" defensive coordinator.

51. N.Y. Jets: QB Connor Cook, Michigan StateAfter bypassing Paxton Lynch in Round 1, the Jets get the next quarterback off the board.

52. Houston: S Darian Thompson, Boise StateThompson"s coverage and ball skills should fit the Texans" scheme.

53. Washington: OLB Shilique Calhoun, Michigan StateHe would bring some burst off the edge that could help Washington.

54. Minnesota: DE/DT Adolphus Washington, Ohio StateMike Zimmer can find plenty of ways to use Washington up front.

55. Cincinnati: WR Sterling Shepard, OklahomaThe run on wide receivers happened just before Cincinnati"s first-round pick, but they opted for patience, knowing they could find talent later.

56. Seattle: C Nick Martin, Notre DameThe interior of the Seahawks" O-line still needs work; here"s a good opportunity to help that out.

57. Green Bay: OLB Kyler Fackrell, Utah StateCould be groomed to take over for Julius Peppers in a year, while working on a rotational basis as a rookie.

58. Pittsburgh: S Justin Simmons, Boston CollegeThe restoration work on the Steelers" secondary needs to continue.

59. Kansas City: OT Jason Spriggs, IndianaMobile tackle could fit well up front.

60. New England: RB Kenneth Dixon, Louisiana TechDixon can flourish on the wheel routes Bill Belichick loves to use.

61. New England (from Arizona): DE Kevin Dodd, ClemsonAs productive as Shaq Lawson, Dodd provides an insurance policy in case Chris Long struggles returning from injury.

62. Carolina: S/LB Su"a Cravens, USCPanthers GM Dave Gettleman values front-seven defenders more than almost any other executive, and Cravens should find a home as a linebacker.

63. Denver: S Jeremy Cash, DukeThe Broncos-Duke connection is strong, and Cash provides a physical presence that would allow him to contribute in sub packages immediately; he could split the box role in dime personnel with T.J. Ward.

Bucs Boost Pass Rush with DE Noah Spence

Noah Spence (Eastern Kentucky) vs. Kentucky (2015)

The rejuvenation of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers" defense is officially underway.

One night after adding perhaps the best pure cover corner in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers addressed their other pressing need on defense, grabbing Eastern Kentucky defensive end Noah Spence with the eighth pick of the second round, number 39 overall. Considered one of the best pure edge rushers in this year"s class of prospects, Spence joins 11th-overall pick Vernon Hargreaves in giving the Buccaneers" a much-needed infusion of high-level defensive talent.

"I"m just blessed to be able to be taken in the draft at all," said Spence. "I"m going to do as much as I can to make this team great."

In his third season as the Buccaneers" general manager, Jason Licht has clearly turned his attention to a defense that ranked 26th in points allowed in 2015. After targeting a potential shut-down corner in Round One, Licht played to this draft"s strength, landing one of the four defensive linemen who went in the first eight picks of Round Two. In doing so they added what they believe will be an outside complement to Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and big-time free agency acquisition Robert Ayers, hopefully giving Tampa Bay"s it"s best pass-rush since the Warren Sapp-Simeon Rice days.

INFOGRAPHIC: DE NOAH SPENCE

Spence has the potential to develop into the next great edge rusher for the Buccaneers, who have not had a player produce a 10-sack season since Rice in 2005 (though McCoy annually gets very close). Last fall at Eastern Kentucky he recorded 11.5 sacks, 22.5 tackles for loss and 15 quarterback hurries to go with 63 tackles and three forced fumbles. Prior to transferring to EKU, Spence was the Ohio State Buckeyes" leading sacker in 2013 with 8.0 along with 14.5 tackles for loss and 52 tackles overall.

In addition to his impressive statistics, Spence is considered a high-effort, every-down player.

"You"ve just got to keep going at it, 100 percent every play, like you want to win every rep," he said. "You"re never going to win every rep but you"ve always got to feel like you want to get there. I thought I was [one of the top pass-rushers in the draft]. But we"ll see after the season."

MORE: BUCCANEERS DRAFT NOAH SPENCE

Licht and the Buccaneers began the offseason by making several surgical strikes in free agency to acquire Ayers and cornerback Brent Grimes, two projected starters who addressed those aforementioned needs on defense. Still, for a franchise that intends to build through the draft and which has done exactly that in two previous offensive-minded drafts those positions were still high on the Bucs" wish list entering the weekend. With another pick still to be spent in the third round on Friday night and an extra fourth-rounder gained in a small trade down on Thursday evening, Licht and the Buccaneers may very well continue to give new Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith more young talent.

A Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native, the 6-3, 261-pound Spence was a top national recruit before choosing Ohio State in 2012. He played in 11 games as a true freshman as a reserve on defense, then jumped into the starting lineup in 2013. After ranking second in the Big Ten in sacks in his sophomore campaign, he was named to the all-conference first team by the media.

The Buccaneers made Spence one of the 30 players they were allowed to bring to One Buccaneer Place for a pre-draft visit. That time at team headquarters may have cemented the Bucs" interest in him, possibly leading to some anxious moments as the early picks of the second round became so defense-heavy. In the end, the Bucs got their man for the second night in a row and Spence was just as pleased with the outcome as was the team.

"I love their coaches a lot," he said. "I feel like I had a good feel with them; I felt like family when I walked around the facility. When I was with [Defensive Line] Coach Jay [Hayes] I felt like he reminded me a lot of my dad. It felt almost like a home away from home."

Johnny Manziel: bail, a court date and Justin Bieber

A Cleveland Browns Johnny Manziel Farewell Tribute

Johnny Manziel (center right) attended a Justin Bieber concert hours after a grand jury indicted the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner. Bieber (left) and Manziel posed for a photo with Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden (right).

Former Aggie and Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manzielwont appear in court until next month in his domestic violence case.

Dallas County criminal court Judge RobertoCaas set bail for the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner at $1,500, which is typical for a misdemeanor domestic violence case.Prosecutors and Manziels attorneys agreed on the amount, and there will be no formal bail hearing.

Manziel must appear in court on May 5 for Caasto tell him the conditions of his bail. He will turn himself in next week, his attorney said.

Manzielisaccused of kidnapping, hitting and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, earlier this year.

The indictment accuses Manziel of intentionally and knowingly causing bodily harm to Crowley by striking complainant with a hand and by forcing complainant into a vehicle and against a vehicle dashboard.

His lawyers have said Manziel will plead not guilty.

The partying continues

So far, Tuesdays indictment on assault charge hasnt seemed to put a crimp in Manziels adventures.

Hours after his indictment, he joined Browns cornerback, Joe Haden, and others at a Justin Bieber concert in Cleveland.

Manziel was cut by the Browns in March after two tumultuous seasons marked by inconsistent play and off-the-field headlines aboutpartyinganddrinking. He did a stint in rehab.

Many people are worried about him. His father is fearfulfor his sons life.

Nate Fitch, a friend of Manziels since middle school in Tyler, recently went onThe Ben & Skin Showon 105.3 FM The Fan in an attempt to get Manziel to seek treatment.

Fitch believes that Manziel who he said dreams of one day playing for the Dallas Cowboys has substance abuse issues. He said he and the mercurial Manziel no longer hang out, but they still talk and he wants the best for his friend.

The path that he is on is not one that really gets better by itself. And unless something happens, somebody intervenes, somebody close to him is able to get through to him whoever is that person, whether its me, a stranger out there or somebody of influence, it has to be done with love and compassion, Fitch said on the show. You cannot shame somebody in his position into seeing what is going on. You just have to love them through it and meet them where theyre at. If somebodys able to do that, then h**l find a way out.

Manziel went with former Browns teammate Joe Haden, whose wife Sarah posted a picture of the group from the concert on Instagram.

As Fans Celebrate Drake"s "Views From the 6," Here"s How the Rapper Became Famous

Drake - Safe 2 Say - (Views From the 6) New

He raps about countless women and the holds they have on his heart, though headmittedhe"s never fallen in love. He"s surprisingly bad at basketball, despite having a cast of all-star athletes and NBA players in his circle. He might not always write his own lyrics (though he doesmake his own whiskey), but the help he employs comes from a deeply loyal squad of hitmakers.

As fans celebrateViews From the 6, an LP Canadian rap legend Drake hailed as a "life soundtrack," it"s these gems that have helped turn Degrassi childhood actor into one of the most interesting and unpredictable men in rap.

Source:Giphy

Aubrey Drake Graham was born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, aka "the 6," into a family of musicians (his father, a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis, his uncle being Teenie Hodges). At just 5-years-old, his parents divorced, and he went to live with his white, Jewish mother in the upper middle class Canadian suburb of Forest Hill.

Graham was fortunate enough to attend school in a privileged community, yet maintaining this lifestyle stretched his mother"s budget pretty thin. His mother rented the basement and first floor of a house within the district so her kids would be able to have a better life than her. His mom "was willing to live far beyond her means for her family,"Drake told radio host Jian Ghomeshi in 2013. "I grew up with a mom who was deep in debt because she wanted best for family."

Source:Giphy

It was his fatherwho introduced a young Drake to a world of rap music as the two visited his father"s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, where the future hitmaker would spend most of his childhood summers. Southern rap music had a lasting effect on the impressionable kid, who would later tell Ghomeshi "it opened up not only my mind but my ears."

Drake didn"t immediately dive into the American music scene, however. He"d eventually return to Canada, where he was cast as Jimmy Brooks, a student and budding rapper, on the critically successful reboot of a Canadian TV series titled Degrassi: The Next Generation at .

The career move catapulted Drake into the hearts of millennial audiences worldwide. Fans of the show and of the rapper"s winding backstory will likely remember the most defining moment in his acting career in vivid detail when Drake"s character was shot and paralyzed during a dramatic two-part special.

Source:Giphy

After the show took this turn, Drake gradually began to inject his character"s passion for rapping into his own life. He had been rapping on and off until his career with Degrassi came to an end in 2009, releasing his first mixtape in February 2006, titled R. Several tracks caught the attention of rapper Lil Wayne, who began to f 2007 was his biggest year in music before leaving the show and investing his energy full time into creating raps, releasing Comeback Season and remixing "" with Lil Wayne.

Drake became a mainstay in the American rap scene in 2009, carving out a new lane that rap had rarely seen before. He presented himself as a rapper in touch with his emotions, comfortable baring his soul over soul loops. It pinned Drake with the label of "soft," but his song "" became a critical success nevertheless. It reached No. on without the newcomer evenhaving to ink a record contract.

He would later sign a major deal with Cash Money/Universal Motown Records after what was considered one of the within the music industry at the time. The rapper was hard at work throughout 2009, dropping a mixtape titled S and prepping the release of his first official studio album, Thank Me Later, which would arrive in June 2010.

His next album, Take Care, earned Drake his first and thus far only Grammy for rap album of the year in 2013. When the trophy came in the mail, he celebrated by taking shots out of its flaring horn.

Since establishing himself in rap, Drake has extended his hands into a number of other business pursuits. In 2010, he teamed up with the luxury fashion designer Canada Goose to create a custom OVO limited edition jacket. In 2013, he became the for the NBA"s Toronto Raptors, though it isn"t exactly clear what Drake"s responsibilities are, other than showing face at basketball games. He"s also hosted and has created his own radio station called

Drake hasn"t had a perfectly untouched career, however the rapper faced for wanting to build a collaborative album with recordings from deceased R&B singer Aaliyah, The album was also supported by Lil Wayne, though the two decidedly dropped the album off their agenda after fellow entertainers close to Aaliyah, including and , spoke out.

He"s also faced continued scrutiny for his involvement in altercations with other rappers, the most controversial being his feud with Chris Brown. The two exchanged before eventually taking their fight to a New York club, in which Brown has alleged that Drake"s entouragethrew a bottle that cut open his face.

Since then, Drake has continued to expand on his carefully constructed empire, while attempting to remain the Canadian suburban boy who played Jimmy on Degrassi. It"s a fine line to walk, and one he"s still finding his balance on. However, his ability to stay relevant and influential in a rap game increasingly centered upon the one-hit wondershows the might be onto something bigger than anything the music industry has seen thus far.

New Report Says Prince"s Death May Be Investigated As An Overdose

USHER SNAPCHAT VIDEOS (ft Kid Ink) Funny Moments, BEST VOCALS

A week after Prince"s unexpected death, authorities are one step closer to figuring out how the music legend died.

On Thursday, law enforcement told the Associated Press that they are investigating the possibility that the Purple Rain artist suffered an overdose.

As we reported, sources close to the 57-year-old said the musician was prescribed Percocet in 2009 and slowly became addicted.

On April 15 after a performance in Atlanta, the Grammy winner reportedly overdosed on the drug while in flight, prompting the plane to make an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois. Police are trying to figure out if a doctor was present for this ordeal.

Additionally, officials are investigating what type of drugs were on the plane, and what kind were at his Paisley Park house.

As we wrote on Thursday, police obtained a warrant to search his Minnesota mansion.

NFL teams should understand Derrick Henry"s his own man

Derrick Henry (Alabama, RB) | 2016 NFL Combine Highlights

Let me get this straight. You"re an NFL franchise, and you might drop Derrick Henry on your draft board for reasons that have little or nothing to do with Derrick Henry himself?

You"re going to hold Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy and/or T.J. Yeldon against him? You"re going to look at a player at that position in a crimson jersey and see a red flag?

Seriously? It"s about time to hit the mute button on your stereotypes about former Alabama running backs.

The negative narrative is out there. It goes something like this: Nick Saban"s Process chews them up and spits them out, getting the best out of them in college but leaving something less in their tanks for the NFL.

See this Sporting News story: Alabama"s running back numbers cast shadow of doubt on Derrick Henry.

Or this piece from Pro Football Talk: Alabama running back reputation could drag down Derrick Henry.

The NFL is infamous for its convenient and lazy groupthink when it comes to college prospects. Draft evaluations often include a comparison to a former player in the league, even though no two players are created exactly equal.

Henry"s "NFL comparison," according to his evaluation on NFL.com, is former Auburn and New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs.

Jacobs was a solid NFL player, with two 1,000-yard seasons during his nine-year pro career, but he was an inch taller and about 20 pounds heavier than Henry and lacked his breakaway speed.

One evaluation of Jacobs before the Giants took him in the fourth round of the 2005 draft said he lacked a second gear. You wouldn"t say that about Henry if you"d seen him run away from SEC defensive backs.

It just goes to show. The less you look at a player as a unique individual, the more likely you are to make a mistake.

To even suspect that Henry"s best days may be behind him because some of his predecessors at Alabama enjoyed better years in college than they have so far in the NFL is short-sighted, narrow-minded and just plain foolish.

For starters, Henry is listed at 6-foot-3 and 247 pounds. That makes him taller and heavier than Ingram, Richardson, Lacy and Yeldon.

Henry"s size and the numbers he put up as a junior Heisman winner last season - 395 carries for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns - suggest he"s the most durable of Saban"s Alabama studs at tailback.

Not to mention, the idea that those studs become duds at the next level isn"t even accurate.

Ingram has battled injuries during his five years with the Saints, but he"s accounted for almost 4,000 yards rushing and receiving. Lacy has two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his three years with the Packers, was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2013 and has lost weight after failing to reach the 1,000-yard threshold last season.

Yeldon totaled 1,019 rushing and receiving yards last season as a rookie for Jaguars. Even Richardson, who"s been considered a bust, ran for almost 1,000 yards as a rookie. The Ravens must see something in him because they"ve signed a slimmed-down Richardson to a free-agent contract.

All of which is interesting but has little to do with where Henry should be selected in this year"s draft or what kind of pro he"ll become. That"s on him and the franchise that picks him.

Correction. That"s on him and the franchise that"s smart enough to pick him. As we learned the last three years, the best running back of the Saban era at Alabama is very much his own man.

1. On a scale of Clippers low points where does Game 4 rank?Aaron Williams(@aaronsmarter): Nah, Roscoe. You cant just post a question like this without a *Trigger Warning*for the long-time Clippers fans, fam. That rabbit hole is a PTSD minefield for thoseof us who started in the PG* era (*Pre-Griffin). Kandi-man All those seasons of injuredKaveman Livingston *shudders*. I refuse to go any further back, or I may enter a fuguestate. This isnt the worst, but This team always finds a way to hurt me.

Ben Mesirow (@SemNeb): This is pretty bad, and thats saying something as we all know, the Clippers have hit a lot of low points. Shaun Livingstons knee injury was deeply horrifying, Elton Brands midnight flight was a gut punch, everything related to Donald Sterling was gross and offensive, and theres so much more. But the difference on Monday night was simple the Clippers, more than any other time in franchise history, had hope. Not anymore.

Roscoe Whalan(@RoscoeWhalan): It was just so quick. Thats what makes this worse than Houston last year, which was a disaster that happened in slow motion and we saw it coming. But injuries to not just one but two stars in the same game is cruel. For those injuries to come justhours after the door had been cracked open by Currys injury just compounded things further. In an afternoon, the Clippers went from a punchers chance to a real oneto an afterthought again. It was the like the opposite emotions to the DeAndre Dallas Daylastsummer.

2. Multiple choice time. Whats your overarching feeling right now:a. The Clippers are forever doomed;b. Even if the Clippers bounce back and win this series, whats the point?c.Was that the last game well see with CP3, Blake & DJ all on the court together as Clippers?d.Al-Farouq Aminu should get the max.Williams:C., because we live in the the hyper-accelerated, social media era of overreaction.I think part of the nostalgia for the 80s derives from being able to claim your team and yourplayers for longer than 4 years at a time. Also, Doc Rivers wasnt anybodys GM, and the worldwas kind of a better place for it. I can absolutely see good-time Glenn pulling the trigger on a dealfor Rajon Rondo and Tony Allen (yknow, complete the set) or Kevin Garnett that will decimatethe remainder of the Clippers draft picks for the duration of his tenure. Oy.

Mesirow: Oh boy. All of the above, but also none of the above since Monday night Ive mostly been doing my best to avoid toppling off the ledge and into the pit of nihilism and despair of options A and B. So instead Im locked onto the horizon like Im trying to avoid getting seasick, thinking about C, the future, and what the Clippers should do this offseason. I havent figured it out just yet.

Whalan: B & C. B because the nihilist in me cant help but think itd be a waste to win and then enter Round 2 against the defending champs sans youre 1A& 1Bstars. The ensuing bloodbath would be similar to the 2012 Second Round against the Spurs when the Clippers got swept. So whats the point? And then, that leads me to thinking a lot about C. Is it time to break up the band? Five straight years of Playoff disappointments, a number of sizable cracks in the glass ceiling and some great highlights but not even a Western Conference Finals appearance to show for it. Maybe the Clippers rose to power at the wrong time with Golden State? Sigh.

3. Predict the Clippers starting 5 for tomorrow night.Williams:Rivers-Redick-Mbah a Moute-Pierce-Jordan. Its gonna be a bloodbath. Or, at least in this quadrantof L.A. sports fandom, an average Wednesday.

Mesirow: Rivers Redick Mbah a Moute Green Jordan. Its not glamorous, and its not beautiful, there isnt much play-making and there really isnt a lot of shooting. Oh, did you think I was going to come up with a silver lining? Because I was just going to leave it there. Well O.K., how about this: thats not a terrible defensive group, and going small with Green or the Prince at the four wont kill them against the Aminu-Plumlee frontcourt.

Whalan:Rivers Redick Turkoglu, uh, Al Thornton and DeAndre Jordan? Its not pretty. But guys, weve got the Sixth Man of the Year coming off the bench and if Paul Pierce takes a drink of that Truth syrup, maybe just maybe

Dyson"s new hair dryer gives users the silent treatment

Ultra-quiet hair dryer.

Published 28/04/2016 | 02:30

The tech that everyone"s talking about this week is a new hair dryer from Dyson - and it will appeal to those who like the silent treatment.

The Supersonic is light, colourful and cuts down on noise. The device, which cost 50m and three years to develop, boasts a new type of digital motor which has pushed noise to a sound frequency "beyond the audible range for humans".

Its thermostat promises to do away with the risk of burning, and it has "air multiplier" technology to make it speedier and more efficient.

But this isn"t a budget item - it will cost 399 when available here in the coming months.

Journalist Eimear Rabbitt became one of the first people in Ireland to test the Supersonic at Dylan Bradshaw"s Dublin hair salon last night. You can see how it performed with an exclusive video on Independent.ie today.

Zillow finds a second home in Centennial

A celebration of Steve"s life (Apple, Cupertino, 10/19/2011) HD

Google and Twitter are making their presence felt in Boulder, but another tech luminary, Zillow Group, has firmly planted its flag in the south metro area.

Zillow, which had about 330 employees in Colorado late last year, is hiring 150 more.

Those hires, mostly in sales and support, will vault metro Denver ahead of San Francisco as Zillow"s second-largest employment hub after its Seattle headquarters, where it employs 975 people.

"We don"t want to lose our start-up feel," said Greg Bland, a Zillow vice president who oversees the Centennial location.

Bland is a stand-up boss, literally. He works at a standing desk alongside the workers in cubicles he supervises no closed doors or administrative assistants to separate him.

Zillow sales reps wear bluetooth headsets that allow them to roam the office as they speak with prospects. Big wins are broadcast on television screens in the office, and top producers are recognized on a "Wall of Fame."

Perks associated with West Coast tech firms are all there, including a fully stocked kitchen with free drinks and snacks in abundance and a large game room where workers can decompress.

For those who prefer more strenuous exercise as they work, three treadmill desks are available.

Zillow, founded a decade ago this month by former Microsoft executives Rich Barton and Lloyd Frink, initially won attention as the place to go online to find estimates of home values.

Go-to site for buyersOver time, Zillow deepened its market research and added more and more listings, becoming the go-to site for those looking to buy a home.

Agents who want to reach the pool of potential buyers that Zillow has amassed are feeling pressure to pay the toll the company charges or get left behind.

"It is so annoying that Zillow gets their nose in the way of a customer just contacting me because they want to see the house," commented one agent on the National Real Estate Post. "Where does this road end? You got a middleman who should not even be there."

To which another agent responded, "I love Zillow. I love the exposure it gives my company. My return on investment is about 3-to-1 every month. ... Look at Zillow as a tool for success."

Whether they love or hate Zillow, agents increasingly find they can"t afford to ignore it. Zillow.com is running 36 million unique visits a month. The only other site that comes close is Trulia.com at 23 million, according to eBizMBA.

In summer 2014, Zillow Group made a successful $3.5 billion bid for Trulia, inheriting Trulia"s sales center in Centennial, which then employed about 225.

Websites associated with traditional brokerages have struggled to keep pace. Realtor.com, the official website of the National Association of Realtors now owned by News Corp subsidiary Move Inc., gets about 18 million unique visits a month.

Agents who turn to Zillow for leads now generate about $3.6 billion of the $75 billion in annual commissions tied to home sales, Zillow CEO Spencer Raskoff told analysts on an earnings call last week.

That"s where the Centennial office, in a nondescript office park at 10771 E. Easter Ave., comes in. It is effectively Zillow"s "East Coast" sales office, hosting regional sales teams focused on recruiting agents in the Southeast, mid-Atlantic, Midwest and New York City areas.

Each section flows into the other, distinguished by flags, maps and other memorabilia representing the region targeted minus a Carolina Panthers banner that Bland had removed before the Super Bowl.

Picky about hiring

Glassdoor lists starting pay for the inside sales jobs at around $37,000, but commissions can boost what workers take home.

And, Bland adds, benefits are more than competitive, with generous health insurance coverage, three weeks of vacation to start, 16 weeks of maternity leave, and perks like free yoga lessons, access to a nearby indoor golf facility, a shuttle to the light-rail station, etc.

For its holiday party, Zillow hosted nearly all of its 2,200 employees in Seattle for a convention, giving each of them Apple TV as a gift.

Bland said the company is fairly picky about who it hires, and it rejects most who apply. But it is willing to take a chance on the right applicants who lack a background in real estate or sales.

Despite metro Denver"s low unemployment rate, which was 3.1 percent in December, the company hasn"t struggled to fill the openings it has, he said.

Jimmy Lewis was one of those nontraditional candidates. He moved to Denver about three years ago from Las Vegas, where he worked as a roulette dealer.

"I came here with little sales experience," Lewis said. But he learned to sell and has done well, making a comfortable living at Zillow for his family of five.

"It is the best job I have ever had," he said.

The Centennial location also will add positions in two business lines where Zillow Group is trying to expand rentals and new home listings.

Neil Marciniak, Centennial"s economic development manager, said Zillow is not unlike other firms based in more expensive coastal cities that have chosen to expand in metro Denver.

Denver is not as affordable as it once was, but it still is a bargain compared with San Francisco or New York. And it offers a lifestyle that more affordable alternatives Omaha anyone? can"t match, he said.

At the end of last year, Zillow ranked 14th among Centennial private-sector employers, not counting retailers, Marciniak said, and the current hiring push should bring it close to breaking into the city"s top 10.

WATCH: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Stars as Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone"s "Snowden"

Edward Snowden Interview on Apple vs. FBI, Privacy, the NSA, and More

The film tells the story of the now-infamous former NSA contractor who became one of the most wanted men in the world when he published a trove of classified documents in summer 2013, detailing the National Security Administrations covert surveillance techniques.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to play the titular hero/traitor, who is currently living in Russia, where he fled to avoid espionage charges in the United States.

This latest trailer gives fans a first look at Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden and Shailene Woodley (The Descendants, Insurgent) as Snowdens love interest Lindsay Mills. Nicolas Cage, Melissa Leo, Timothy Olyphant, Scott Eastwood, Tom Wilkinson, and Zachary Quinto also star.

In March, writer-director Oliver Stone revealed that hed held secret meetings with Snowden in Russia to prepare for the film, and he had even moved the entire production to Germany at one point to avoid possible interference from the NSA.

Its an amazing story, Stone said at the Sun Valley Film Festival in Iowa. Heres a young man, 30 years old at that time, and he does something thats so powerful. Who at 30 years old would do that, sacrificing his life in that way?

Gordon-Levitt also met with Snowden during the course of the films production, later telling the Guardian that he believes what the ex-NSA contractor did was right.

Now, as he would say, its not for him to say whether it was right or wrong. Thats really for people to decide on their own, and I would encourage anybody to decide that on their own, the actor told the paper. I dont want to be the actor guy whos like, You should listen to me! What he did was right! I dont think thats my place. Even though thatiswhat I believe that what he did was right.

Snowden is due out in theaters September 16.

Rachel Roy had originally been the number one suspect for the mystery other woman Beyonc mentions in the eye-opening track, Sorry.

Though fans flocked to social media to accuse Rita of causing trouble in their relationship after a recent Snapchat image.

Is this Becky? Rita Ora has become the latest star accused of being the "Becky with the good hair" who had an affair with Jay Z - pictured together in January 2014

Clue? Fans accused the 25-year-singer of causing trouble in Beyonc and Jay Z"s relationship after she posted a snap in a lemon bra just days before Beyonce"s album release

In a series of Snapchat pictures posted on April 21, just days before Beyonc released her album, Rita was seen wearing a semi-sheer bra which protected her modesty with strategically placed lemons.

While the bra was in fact one of many fruit motif items from her collaboration with lingerie label, Tenezis, it was Rita"s choice of necklace that truly had "Queen Bey"s fans who call themselves the Beyhive - buzzing with disdain.

The singer wore a gold necklace with the initial "R", although due to the mirror reflection, some were falsely led some to believe the letter was a "J".

In the past few hours, Rita"s Instagram page has been flooded with insults, along with bee and lemon emojis, which is Beyonc fans" favored form of attack on social media.

Used to be close: While the British singer, who is of Albanian-descent, has previously shut down claims she has had affair with her then label boss, fans were quick to share their anger over the affair claims online

While the British singer, who is of Albanian-descent, has previously shut down claims she has had affair with her then label boss, fans were quick to share their anger over the affair claims online.

Representatives for Rita Ora have been contacted for comment.

Rita was asked about the affair claims back in 2014 during an appearance on Power 105FM"s The Breakfast Club.

Indignant Rita, 23, told DJ Charlamagne Tha G*d: "Don"t you dare disrespect Beyonce like that ever again in your entire life".

Collegues: Rita was asked about the affair claims back in 2014 during an appearance on Power 105FM"s The Breakfast Club and instantly shut the interviewer down

She added: "Yeah cause that"s just straight up disrespect. You can"t even go there, that just not a question".

Rita had previously dismissed the rumour on Twitter in 2013 when she attacked Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan for tweeting that she was sleeping with Beyonce"s husband.

Furious Rita wrote: "I stayed silent on one bulls**t rumour but this one I have to speak" "Neva eva will any1 includin a red head dum z listin attention seekin w***e try talk s**t about me & my family holly wateva da f*k ur name is,(sic)" she rebuked.

Rita was signed to Jay-Z"s label Roc Nation over four years ago when she was just 18 and frequently hung out with the rapper"s wife.

However, the singer in now in the middle of a legal battle with Roc Nation after filing a lawsuit last December claiming they had not released her new material that she had ready for her second album.

There is a clear theme of adultery throughout most of Beyonc"s new album, with the singer making numerous references to an unfaithful partner and the other woman with whom is he having an affair.

"He better call Becky with the good hair," sings Beyonce on Sorry, the brief description that sent her fans into a frenzy hoping to figure out the identity of the mystery woman.

Bad move: Fashion designer Rachel Roy found herself becoming the first name linked to the mysterious "Becky" when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram hours after Lemonade was released

Rumours: Rachel Roy (pictured) is the ex-wife of music producer Damon Dash, who formerly worked with Jay Z

Fashion designer Rachel Roy found herself becoming the first name linked to the mysterious "Becky" when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram, writing in the caption; "Good hair don"t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always.

"Live in the light #nodramaqueens."

The comment sent Beyonce"s devoted followers into a frenzy, and the group immediately began to attack Roy on her Instagram account and accuse her of having an affair of Jay Z.

Like Rita Ora, it was not the first time Roy had been accused of being the other woman in Beyonc"s marriage.

Reports of Roy"s alleged romance with Jay Z first emerged back in May 2014 after it was rumoured that it was the fashion designer"s affair with the rapper that was what sent Beyonc"s sister Solange Knowles into a rage which ended with her physically attacking the rapper in the elevator of a New York City hotel.

Drama: Beyonce"s sister Solange (left) was captured on CCTV in May 2014 attacking Jay Z in an elevator (right, after the incident). Reports suggested the encounter was about Rachel Roy

Lena Dunham threatens to move to Canada if Trump wins

Trump on Lena Dunham"s threat to flee USA: Great for America

Will getting rid of Lena Dunham be reason enough to support a Donald Trump presidency?

Dunham, rabidly pro-Hillary and anti-Republican, becamethe latest celebrity to mention plans to move to Canada.

During theMatrix Awards on Monday, which honors young women in communication, Dunham told Andy Cohen that shell move to and work from Vancouver if Trump is elected, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

I know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will, Dunham said. I know a lovely place in Vancouver and I can get my work done from there.

Shes a B actor and has no mojo, Trump said about Dunhamduring Tuesdays interview withFox & Friends. I heard Whoopi Goldberg said that too. That would be a great, great thing for our country.

Rosie ODonnell has alsothreatened to move. The reminder gave Trump even more motivationtowin. Well get rid of Rosie? Oh I love it. Well now I have to get elected, because Ill be doing a great service to our country. I have to. Now its much more important, Trump proclaimed before saying he had to rush off the phone to start campaigning, right now.

Unfortunately for Trump, ODonnell tweetedto assure Trump supporters that she would not move.

Dunham and Goldberg may not be the only ones moving to Canada. Searches for How to Move to Canada were at an all-time high last month. Drake Debuts New Song "One Dance" (and Grinds on Rihanna) in Toronto

One Dance by Drake and Hasta el Amanecer by Nicky Jam | Mashup by Alex Aiono

Getty

Is anyone else freaking out about One Dance, Drakes new hit? He performed it live for the first time atRihannas Toronto show last night, and it is everything. Even viaa particularly lousy YouTube video, its fun to watch, and makes the upcomingalbum drop even more exciting (April 29, not that anyones counting down the days or anything). With dreamy female backups sampled from a Kyla song and an insane beat, this dancehall-ytrack is going to be wafting from windows all spring, heating up dance floors across the world.

Drake performed just the first minute of One Dance in his hometown last night before blasting into an energetic rendition of Jumpman (shout-out Taylor Swift!). Rihanna and Drake also gotdown to Work and performed with a bunch of their requisite grinding, inciting screams from the crowd (and, probably, more hook-up rumors). Rihanna preened about, Drake pulled some dorky slide-step dance move; business as usual. At the end, Drake asked the crowd to make some noise for the greatest woman Ive ever known in my life, so thats sweet.

With Chris Paul likely out for playoffs, how far can Clippers go?

Steph Curry MRI Reveals Grade 1 MCL Sprain In Knee

WXIA 12:07 PM. GMT April 26, 2016

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is likely to miss the remainder of the playoffs after breaking the third metacarpal in his right hand on Monday night.

Paul, who injured the hand while attempting to swipe the ball away from the Portland Trail Blazers guadGerald Henderson in the third quarter of Game 4 of their first-round series, left the Moda Center with a cast on his hand and his arm in a sling. According to a person with knowledge of Pauls situation, the Clippers do not expect Paul to be able to return in the postseason. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because a final diagnosis had not yet been made.

And with that, these NBA playoffs took yet another turn for the worse.

Pauls injury came just hours after the Golden State Warriors had learned the severity of Stephen Currys right knee injury that was suffered at Houston on Sunday. The reigning MVP suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, thus giving the defending-champion Warriors every reason to wonder if they could somehow survive a potential second-round series against the Clippers without him.

Who knew Golden State would wind up looking like the lucky ones?

Not only are the Clippers now without their MVP-caliber point guard, but forward Blake Griffin appeared to re-aggravate a quadriceps injury in the Blazers 98-84 win that tied the series 2-2. The potential ripple effect of this situation could be monumental, as this was seen by many as the Clippers last, best chance to prove to the basketball world that their Paul-Griffin-DeAndre Jordan core was championship-caliber.

The answers to those questions, however, will come later. In the here and the now, the Clippers will see how far their embattled squad can go.

Paul was coming off a superb season, having helped lead the Clippers through the adversity of the Griffin incident in late December in which he broke his hand during an altercation with a member of the team"s equipment staffwhile averaging 19.5 points, 10 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. Despite not having their All-Star forward for 47 games because of the quad injury and broken hand, the Clippers finished fourth in the Western Conference (53-29).

Chernobyl 30 Years Later: Those Who Live in Its Shadow Still Suffer

Living in the shadow of Chernobyl: Kids & adults still dwelling in contaminated areas

In the days before the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster today, workers hurriedly filled in pot holes and painted lines on the decrepit road to the destroyed nuclear station. They were getting ready for a visit by Ukraines president and memorial ceremonies at the site to mark the catastrophic incident on April 26, 1986.

Time has helped bury some of the most obvious effects of the catastrophe. Slowly the forest is breaking up the abandoned towns inside the exclusion zone; the famous Red Forest, of irradiated trees turned red by the reactor leak, has been cut down and replanted.

Radiation levels on the surface are often close to background norms, though highly contaminated patches still lurk everywhere. Next year, a giant new containment shell is due to be slid over the shattered reactor, sealing it safe for 100 years.

SLIDESHOW: Haunting Images From Chernobyl")

But as the workers spruced up the route to the worlds worst nuclear disaster zone, some affected by the accident said with the passing of time their plights were increasingly being downplayed and accused Ukraines government of trying to save money by cutting support to them.

The claims throw attention onto the fact that even 30 years on, the long-term health effects of Chernobyl remain intensely disputed.

The disaster, the worst nuclear accident in history, eventually affected 3 million people and forced the evacuation of over 300,000. The reactor was sealed inside an 18-mile exclusion zone, deemed too contaminated for people to live and known now just as the Zone.

The United Nations and the World Health Organization have found that other than the tens of thousands exposed immediately after the accident, there is no evidence to show Chernobyls leaked radiation has had a major impact on public health. The International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) has said radiation levels have fallen by a factor of several hundred and that most contaminated land has been made safe.

But some local doctors and researchers reject this, saying they have documented a growing number of long-term health issues among people living in areas close to the exclusion zone, particularly among children and arguing that even small doses of radiation over long periods is dangerous.

The level of illness is much higher than in the regions that are not contaminated, Oksana Kadun, head doctor at Ivankov hospital, the closest to the Zone. Kadun, who is helping with a European Union-funded study tracking the health of 4,000 children in contaminated areas, said she saw increased cases of respiratory problems and immune system deficiency.

Reactor No. 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant stands encased in lead and concrete following the accident in April 1986, that released a cloud of radiation that circled the world in Pripyat, Ukraine, July 1988.

With the contaminated regions poor and of little influence, there was little appetite to reopen the issue, Kadun said.

Few people are talking about this because nobody wants to hear it, she said.

In the villages of ginger-bread cottages strung along the plain just outside the Zone, where storks build their nests on pylon-tops and people work tiny plots of land by hand, many assume they are poisoned but say they have little way to prove it. Too poor to buy food, most grow their own and forage from ground they know is contaminated.

What we have, we use, said Anna Pogorelova, who lives with her two children in what was called the "Fourth Zone" -- an area once considered contaminated but not enough for evacuation.

In many places here, Ukraines government pays people compensation for Chernobylknown by Ukrainians as coffin money. But with the country on the edge of default, the government has been curtailing the payments for some and reclassifying areas previously deemed contaminated.

Officials have said they are making tough choices with limited resources, but those affected by the accident say the government is trying to ignore legitimate cases.

The police guard on their duty the entrance of Pripyat town four kilometers from the Chernobyl power station, March 6, 1989, three years after the nuclear disaster.

We have the impression that they would rather that we had just gone already, said Nadezhda Makarevich. Makarevich was evacuated from Pripyat, the town closest to the reactor. On the morning after the explosion, she was washing her windows. Not alerted by the Soviet authorities, she inhaled fallout, suffering radioactive burns on her lungs.

Makarevich is part of a group campaigning for the government to pay support benefits to those poisoned by the accident, as it is obliged by law.

With so many once classified as victims of Chernobyl -- the number of so-called liquidators, workers who contained the accident, is around 500,000 -- and the illnesses so long-term, those claiming Chernobyl benefits are often stigmatized as scroungers.

In the villages around the Zone, many say theyre resigned to living on contaminated ground. In any case, they say, radiation is only one of their problems.

Were not a big region, Pogorelova said. No one pays us any attention.

Michael Strahan says he is "looking forward" to having Kelly Ripa back on Live

Kelly Ripa Doesn"t Host "Live!" After Michael Strahan"s Departure is Announced

Michael Strahan is "looking forward" to having Kelly Ripa back on Live as the ABC star returns to the show on Tuesday after a weeklong absence.

"He never wanted any of this to happen," a source told People Magazine.

The source added that even though Strahan understood why she was mad "it was out of his control".

"He spent the last few days reaching out because he wanted her to come back."

The news comes just a day after a source close to Ripa told DailyMail.com that the star would be returning to Live alongside Strahan after a rancorous week that left her blindsided by the news that her co-host would be quitting the show and taking a job at Good Morning America.

The source told People that Strahan "was prepared to go on by himself if he had to, but he is relieved that it all worked out".

Michael Strahan is "looking forward" to having Kelly Ripa back on Live as the ABC star returns to the show on Tuesday after a weeklong absence

A source told People Magazine that Strahan "never wanted any of this to happen". The source added that even though Strahan understood why Ripa was mad "it was out of his control"

Sources close to the ABC star confirmed Friday that she would be joining Strahan on Tuesday, just a week after she took time off from work and cancelled a planned trip to Turks and Caicos in celebration of her 20th anniversary to husband Mark Consuelos

Ripa took time off from work and canceled a planned trip to Turks and Caicos in celebration of her 20th anniversary to husband Mark Consuelos.

Her highly anticipated return comes after both sides traded blows through media after news of Strahan"s desertion was announced earlier this week.

Ripa"s absence worried bosses at ABC who are still concerned that she could "go rogue" when she returns to work on Tuesday.

According to Page Six, as of FridayRipa was still refusing to take calls from executives at the networks - still furious after learning she was being "overshadowed" by her co-anchor Strahan.

The fear is that she could "do an Ann Curry" and turn on her on-screen partner, poisoning the on-air chemistry between them for months to come.

People Magazinereported that Ripa sent an email to her staff late Friday night saying:"I wanted to thank you all for giving me the time to process this new information.

"Your kindness, support, and love has overwhelmed me. We are a family and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning. Love, Kelly."

Earlier reports suggested that Ripa could have faced a lawsuit or legal letter from ABC if she didn"t return on Tuesday.

"She could get a letter this weekend saying she"s required to turn up to work under her contract, and if she doesn"t show up, she"ll face being sued for damages, such as lost ad revenue," a source told PageSix.

Earlier reports suggested that Ripa could have faced a lawsuit or legal letter from ABC if she didn"t return on Tuesday

As of Friday,Ripa was still refusing to take calls from executives at the networks - still furious after learning she was being "overshadowed" by her co-anchor Strahan (pictured in New York City)

Multiple sources close to Ripa told DailyMail.com earlier this week that she had initially been offered that slot on GMA a few years ago, but turned it down

But an ABC representative denied the case of any legal letter saying the notion is "completely ridiculous and totally false".

ABC executives are; however, worried that Ripa will go rogue upon her return as she still wasn"t taking calls from Strahan or anyone from ABC as of Friday, according to PageSix.

Page Sixspoke to a source close to Ripa, 45, who claimed Strahan"s nonstop work commitments caused the former football star to throw "temper tantrums" at work, during which he would scream at Ripa and the show"s longtime producer, Michael Gellman.

The source added; "He acted like he was in a locker room, not a dressing room."

The source also said of the relationship between Ripa and Strahan, who by all appearances seemed to be good friends both on and off the set: "They could not stand each other, and whenever they communicated off-camera, it was always through their reps."

The network"s decision to move Strahan, 44, comes two years after he first began appearing on GMA in a limited capacity, showing up two days a week and leaving early so he could make it back to Live in time for their 9am taping.

Multiple sources close to Ripa told DailyMail.com earlier this week that she had initially been offered that slot on GMA a few years ago, but turned it down.

"Two years ago Kelly was offered Michael"s current role of contributor to Good Morning America. She turned this down as she was committed to Live and didn"t want to give less to the show that she had been focused on for well over ten years and then kept a ratings winner after Regis left," said one source close to the popular morning host.

Strahan was spotted hitting the gym with girlfriend Kayla Quick on Wednesday in New York City

Strahan broke the news that he was leaving a day after Monday"s show (above)

Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer (above) filled in for Ripa on Wednesday

"Michael then scooped up the role and started saying yes to everything ABC and Disney had to offer.

"Kelly felt that her and Michael Gelman, Live"s Executive Producer, were left to be the only two people solely focused on the show."

The source went on to say; "This began creating tensions internally as Kelly and Michael Gelman were having to work to Michael"s schedule as Live become less of a priority for him.

"Kelly isn"t shocked that he did this as she"s watched him advance his career off Live"s success for years now, she is just disgusted and angry that he did this behind her back with her bosses."

Multiple sources close to the show told DailyMail.com that the staff feel they too have been "blindsided" by a boss who made the decision to just stop showing up for her job.

"They feel like Michael"s taking the high road but Kelly"s the one who blindsided them by not showing up for work," said one source.

"The feeling is that how she"s acting is deeply selfish."

The source went on to say; "Staff are upset that she"s not there. They are pulling a double shift today while she"s left them in the lurch after her tantrum."

The program tapes the live show and a second show to air on Friday morning each Thursday.

Double duty:The program tapes the live show and a second show to air on Friday morning each Thursday. Filling in for Ripa for Thursday"s live show was another popular ABC personality - Erin Andrews (above)

Back in action: And it was Andrews who was picked to tape the second segment on Thursday, which aired Friday morning (above)

Filling in for Ripa for both tapings was another popular ABC personality - Dancing With the Stars host Erin Andrews.

Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer filled in on Wednesday and Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell will guest co-host Monday.

Asource close to Ripa told a different story, saying; "Live staffers are upset. Kelly has been inundated with calls and messages from the team.

"They blame Disney management and want her to come back to work as they see her as the star of the show who also has their back."

Strahan talked about his new job during Wednesday"s Live show and then again next day during an appearance on Good Morning America.

He made a point to praise Ripa on both occasions, a wise decision given the fact that she reportedly did not hide her anger upon learning the news on Tuesday.

The New York Times revealed what happened when Strahan broke the news to Ripa, Gelman and WABC general manager Dave Davis earlier this week.

The group was informed of the meeting at the last second on Tuesday and waited 20 minutes for Strahan to arrive.

Ripa said to Davis after Strahan told them he would be leaving; "Didn"t I tell you this was going to happen? I told you two years ago this was going to happen."

Gone girl: Ripa emerged for the first time since learning he co-host was quitting on Thursday, getting into a car outside her Upper East Side townhouse with husband Mark Consuelos (above)
