Former Ravens TE Konrad Reuland passes away at age 29

Konrad Reuland 6 1/2 Months Post ACL Reconstruction

Former Ravens tight end Konrad Reuland has died, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh announced on Monday.

"Just want to offer condolences to his family. We love Konrad Reuland," he said. "Every single guy in that locker room loves him who knows him."

He then recited a short psalm at the podium on his behalf.

Reuland had suffered a brain aneurysm, Harbaugh said, and passed away on Monday.

A graduate of stanford, reuland went undrafted in 2011. He would go on to bepart of four franchises during his NFL career from 2011-16. He played in Baltimore from 2014-15. He caught 12 passes in his career for 90 yards.

Torrey Smith is no longer a Raven, but -- if you take a look at the comments section -- it"s clear that Baltimore still loves him.

That means everyone still keeps up with the Smith family, including son TJ, who has many times before taken the internet by storm with his dance moves.

Here"s the latest, TJ dancing to "Juju on that Beat" with 49ers wide receiver Bruce Ellington.

MORE RAVENS: LOOKING AHEAD TO THE EAGLES

The Ravens waived veteran returner Devin Hester on Tuesday, following another bad game that was a microcosm of his entire season.

Hesters indecisiveness in fielding punts put the Ravens in poor field position several times over the course of the season. It happened again Monday night, when a punt that Hester neglected to catch was downed by the Patriots, pinning the Ravens at the one-yard line. On the next play, the Patriots tackled running back Kenneth Dixon in the end zone for a safety.

MORE RAVENS: LOOK AHEAD TO EAGLES

Hester also fumbled five times this season, and despite being the NFLs all-time return leader in yards and touchdowns, it was clear his skill set had diminished at age 34. With the Ravens (7-6) fighting for a playoff spot, the decision was made that Hester had been given enough chances.

Wide receiver Michael Campanaro has been promoted to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, and he was expected to take over the return duties. Campanaro was waived with an injury designation (calf) before the season, but he was re-signed in November and has been eager for another opportunity. That opportunity for Campanaro will begin Sunday, when the Ravens host the Eagles.

Konrad Reuland, former Ravens player, dies of aneurysm at 29

Tight Ends: Top Plays and Tacos

Konrad Reuland, who formerly played for the Baltimore Ravens and three other NFL teams, died Monday, two weeks after suffering a brain aneurysm, at his home in California.

Ravens Coach John Harbaugh announced the death of the 29-year-old tight end Monday night after Baltimores loss to the New England Patriots.

We lost a Raven today, Konrad Reuland, Harbaugh said. He was declared brain dead; he had an aneurysm about a week ago, underwent surgery and has been fighting for his life for about the last week. He passed today. [I] just want to offer condolences to his family. We love Konrad Reuland. Every single guy in that locker room loves him.

Harbaugh then read a Psalm and added, Thats for Konrad.

Harbaugh was a little off on his timeline. Reuland had suffered the aneurysm on Nov. 28 and underwent surgery the following day. He played in four games for the Ravens last season, starting in one, and spent portions of the 2014 and 2015 seasons on the teams practice squad and active roster. He also played for the Colts, 49ers and Jets.

Reuland waswaived seven times after entering the NFL in 2012; the Ravens, signed him six times and cut him four times over a 14-month span. Most recently, he was cut by the Colts on Aug. 29.

A crazy life, Reuland told the Indianapolis Starlast summer.Ive had injuries at the wrong time.Ive been cut at the end of camp.Ive made the team atthe end of camp. You just never know.

Reuland played at Notre Dame for two seasons, then transferred to Stanford, where he finished his college career.
