Hip hop star ASAP Yams of ASAP Mob has reportedly died, according to social media posts.
The New York tastemaker, real name Steven Rogriguez, founded the Mob with ASAP Bari and ASAP Illz in 2007.
New of his apparent death first emerged when the official Twitter account for A$AP Mob tweeted RIP @ASAPYams followed by posting an Instagram picture of him.
ASAP Rocky, who joined the Mob in 2008, also posted a picture of Yams, captioning it: R.I.P YAMS, I LOVE YOU BROTHER.
Rogriguez grew up in Harlem and helped form what has been hailed as the most successful hip hop collective in recent years.
Yams, Bari and Illz met ASAP Rocky in 2008 and theyd signed major record label deals by 2011, using Tumblr to build their reputation.
Yams told the New York Times in 2013: Rockys like Luke Skywalker and Im Yoda. We wanted to become big. But we didnt want to do it by hopping on somebody elses wave. We wanted to come in the game with our own wave.
While there has not yet been an official confirmation of Yams death, Metro.co.uk has contacted a spokesman for the group for comment.
