J. Cole Will Reportedly Drop New Album Next Week: "4 Your Eyez Only"

J. Cole - Wet Dreamz

J. Cole is reportedly releasing a follow-up to his impressive 2014 album Forest Hills Drive. The album, 4 Your Eyez Only, is set to be released next week, but you can pre-order it on iTunes now.

Rapper J. Cole has been surprisingly silent in the music world this last year. After his five-part HBO miniseries J. ColeForest Hills Drive: Homecoming premiered at the end of last year, the rapper stepped back from the spotlight to focus on his next upcoming album.

Billboard reported that J. Coles album 4 Your Eyez Only will be out December 9. This will be the rappers first new solo material in two years.

At NYCs Meadows Festival in October, J. Cole told the audience that he wouldnt be performing for a very long time.

Before I get out of here, listen,

this is my last show for a very long time.

Last night, a mysterious pre-sale appeared on iTunes for a 10-song release called 4 Your Eyez Only. The pre-sale has since been removed from iTunes, but plenty of Twitter users caught it while it was still up.

Is J. Cole trying to pull a Beyonce and release his new album sans-promotion?

A rep for J. Cole could not confirm the albums release date, title, or even its existence. A rep for Apple declined to comment.

In the past two years since the release of Forest Hills Drive, J. Cole has collaborated on his Dreamville Records label compilation of Revenge of the Dreamers II, which was released on December 8, 2015.

Cole last released a surprise live album in January for his 31st birthday. The release included some live performances of hit songs from Forest Hills Drive and three of his previous hit singles Lights Please, In The Morning, and Nobodys Perfect.

Will J. Coles new album 4 Your Eyez Only include any features or singles? If not, does the album have a chance to go platinum?

It looks like J. Cole has decided his fans will need to wait until next week to find out.

It has been rumored over the past few weeks that Cole had an album coming out with Kendrick Lamar after ScHoolboy Qs Twitter was hacked which teased the album release.

ScHoolboy Q confirmed that his account was hacked shortly after.

Just got a pHone call from @retOne Im Hacked yall kno d**n well I dont talk like dat lol.

For those who are unfamiliar with the rapper, J. Cole, he began his career as a producer and MC. He was the first artist signed to Jay-Zs Roc Nation label. Cole stood outside of Jay-Zs office for days in hopes of getting him to listen to a demo and his persistence paid off.

J. Cole was shocked to hear that a few weeks after listening to his demo, Jay-Z asked him to contribute to his 2009 album, The Blueprint 3. That same year, Cole released his first mixtape The Warm Up.

His first official album was released in 2011 by Roc nation called Cole World: The Sideline Story. The album Born Sinner followed up in 2013 with guest appearances from Miquel, TLC, and Kendrick Lamar.

Hip hop star J. Cole learns firsthand why Dennis Smith Jr. is so highly rated

J. Cole learned about Dennis Smith Jr.s athletic ability firsthand. / Getty Images

Dennis Smith Jr. has amassed millions of views on his highlight videos for his propensity to throw down ferocious dunks; usually at the expense of a defender turned poster victim.

But it was his block during a pickup game last weekend at Honeycutt Elementary (Fayetteville, N.C.) that may very well go down as his most memorable highlight.

Why?

It was against one of hip hops biggest stars J. Cole.

He came out aggressive the first game and scored a good amount of his teams buckets, Smith said of the Grammy nominated artist. Then I was like, Wow, dude can hoop for real! It was more competitive than I expected, and that in itself was respectable.

Cole, whose album 2014 Forest Hills Drive dropped on Dec. 9, was in his hometown of Fayetteville, N.C., and wanted to meet the Trinity Christian (Fayetteville, N.C.) star, who is the top ranked point guard in the ESPN 60 for 2016.

It was J. Coles idea for the two to square-off; hes known as one of hip hops best hoopers.

Still, on this particular play, he got an up-close look at Smiths exceptional athleticism.

J. Cole took a pass at the top right of the key then swung the ball to his teammate on the right wing and made a textbook cut for the give-and-go.

Thats when J. Coles teammate made a crisp pass to him and he attempted to finish the play with a right-handed layup.

Too bad Smith was on the backline; he sprung up and swatted J. Coles shot off the middle of the backboard before it went sailing out of bounds.

J. Coles post layup-denial course of action?

A quick dap-up.

Respect achieved.

The feeling was mutual for Smith.

He can definitely hoop, Smith said. It was a good run; definitely looking forward to the next one!
