Two of Chip Kelly"s big acquisitions from a year ago are on their way out of Philadelphia.

A league source has confirmed to CSNPhilly.com"s Reuben Frank the Eagles are trading cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Miami Dolphins, pending physicals.Trades cannot become official until the new league year begins at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Earlier Monday afternoon,ESPN"s Adam Schefter reported the Eagles and the Dolphins were finalizing the deal, in which the Eagles would get draft pick compensation.NFL Network"sIan Rapaport first reported the Eagles were trying to trade Maxwell to the Dolphins. Rapaportthen later reported that both Maxwell and Alonso have been informed they"ve been traded to the Dolphins.

Acquiring Alonso and Maxwell were two of the key acquisitions Chip Kelly made after taking control of the personnel department. With vice president of football operations Howie Roseman back in control, the team has seemingly started to take steps to undo most of what Kelly did during his short time in control.

Maxwell, 28, signed a six-year deal worth $63 million. He has a base salary of $8.5 million in 2016, with a cap hit of $9.7 million. By trading him, the Eagles would save $4.9 million against this year"s cap; they would still have a cap hit of $4.8 million in 2016 for Maxwell.Brought to Philly from Seattle"s Legion of Boom, Maxwell struggled and didn"t live up to expectations.

Alonso, 25, came to the Eagles from the Buffalo Bills in the LeSean McCoy trade. In 2015, he was coming off an ACL surgery that forced him to miss all of 2014. Last season, he suffered an injury to the same knee and missed some time, but even when he was on the field, he was wildly ineffective.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz was the Bills" defensive coordinator in 2014, but that was the year Alonso missed.

While Alonso wasn"t good in 2015, he is still on his rookie deal and is cheap in 2016. He has a base salary of just $941,418 and a cap hit of $991,418 in the last year of his deal.

If the trade goes through, it would be more likely the Eagles will try to re-sign soon-to-be free agent Nolan Carroll.

Last year, Maxwell and Carroll began the season as the Eagles" starting corners. Carroll was lost for the season on Thanksgiving and rookie Eric Rowe took over for him and played well. Maxwell started 14 games for the Eagles in 2015.
