ann coulter says she wont be speaking at UC Berkeley on Thursday after all.

The conservative pundit took to her verified Twitter account Wednesday to say the university canceled her speech something the school denied.

Coulters plan to speak had created a war of words on the campus roiled by recent protests.

A student group, the Young Americas Foundation, said Tuesday it had decided not to host the event, saying the university had created a hostile environment. The university said the speech would create security concerns and tried to move it to May 2.

Despite that, Coulter had held out hope Tuesday of speaking somewhere on campus but didnt know where. On Wednesday she announced the cancellation on Twitter. Im so sorry Berkeley canceled my speech, she tweeted.

Im so sorry YAF acquiesced in the cancelation (sic). And Im so sorry for free speech crushed by thugs.

University officials could not immediately be contacted for comment Wednesday afternoon. But before Coulter tweeted, the university put out a news release that said, Contrary to some press reports and circulating narratives, the UC Berkeley administration did not cancel the Coulter event and has never prohibited Ms. Coulter from coming on campus.

The news release said the school decided not to provide a venue for the Thursday speech because of reports that violence would occur. It suggested the speech be given May 2 but school is not in session that day, so Coulter and the YAF opposed that idea.

This is a university, not a battlefield, the news release said. We must make every effort to hold events at a time and location that maximizes the chances that First Amendment rights can be successfully exercised and that community members can be protected.

Coulter slammed the school in her tweets, saying in one: Im so sorry Berkeley had a different story every 20 minutes, which always was: No speech.

Troy Worden, president of the Berkeley College Republicans, said Wednesday that the university didnt provide a venue.

In effect our free speech has been stifled because the university has decided not to assist us in making sure the event can occur successfully, he said. We arent going to have a dangerous event.

The YAF and Berkeley College Republicans have filed a lawsuit that accuses the school of discriminating against conservative guest speakers by placing onerous time and location restrictions on their appearances. Berkeley, known for decades as a bastion of free speech, has seen protests turn violent in recent months.

Earlier this month, 21 people were arrested when anti-Trump and pro-Trump groups clashed in a city park.

In early March, 10 people were arrested when pro- and anti-Trump groups fought in Berkeley.

In February people took to the streets to protest an appearance by right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos. The university said more than $100,000 in damage was done.

An attorney for the Berkeley College Republicans said the lawsuit will proceed.

A lawsuit is a long-term remedy that is going to affect not just Ann Coulters speech but other speakers at UC Berkeley, lawyer Harmeet Dhillon told reporters. The goal is much larger than Ann Coulters speech here tomorrow.

Dhillon said the university officials told her they wouldnt provide a room but Coulter could speak at an outdoor venue. The First Amendment requires equal access, not one level of open access for conservatives, out in the open, with attackers shouting us down, she said, and another level of access in a private, closed setting where people are allowed to enjoy an educational opportunity without interruption.

Berkeley reverses cancellation of Ann Coulter speech

Ann Coulter on The Sean Hannity Radio Show (4/19/2017)

The PostsWilliam Wan and Susan Svrluga report:

The [University of California at Berkeley] had announced Wednesday that it was canceling [Ann] Coulters appearance following several political protests in Berkeley that turned violent.

But on Thursday, the university said it had found a venue where it could hold the speech on May 2, instead of the original April 27 date. However, a leader of the college Republican group that originally invited coulter said the university was placing strict conditions on the event, and he said his group intended to reject the new terms.

The decision to cancel Coulters speech drew sharp criticism from some on the campus, such as Robert Reich, a Berkeley professor who served as labor secretary under President Bill Clinton.

Im not sure from the story what conditions the college Republicans are rejecting; I will update the post when I learn more.

Ann Coulter: Obama Should Testify Under Oath on Trump Campaign Surveillance

Ann Coulter: I have no complaints about Trump presidency

Susan Rice testimony now essential, but insufficient, coulter tweeted on tuesday. must hear from Obama.

Coulter also suggested in another tweet that Michelle Obama may be able to shed some light on the White House surveillance activities during her husbands tenure.

I dont know if what she knows is privileged, but we need to hear from Michelle too, Coulter tweeted.

Rice allegedly ordered surveillance of Donald Trumps campaign aides during the 2016 presidential election, and maintained spreadsheets of their telephone calls, theDaily Caller reported.

Thealleged spreadsheets add a new dimension to reports on Sunday and Monday by blogger Mike Cernovich and Eli Lake of Bloomberg News that Rice had asked for Trump aides names to be unmasked in intelligence reports.

The alleged unmasking may have been legal, but may also have been part of an alleged political intelligence operation to disseminate reports on the Trump campaign widely throughout government with the aim of leaking them to the press.

The surveillance and spreadsheet operation were allegedly ordered one year before the 2016 presidential election. According to aFox Newsreport on Monday, former White House aide Ben Rhodeswas also involved.

Ann Coulter: How to Avoid Immigration, Terrorism and Health Care for 90 Minutes

The Best Ann Coulter Insults at the Rob Lowe Roast

At least we know Trump wasnt lying when he said he didnt practice for the debate.

Based on the behavior of trained, professional journalists, I gather Im not supposed to say what I really thought of the debate, but to cheer like a pom-pom girl for my candidate.

But the truth is, I along with my Trump-supporting friends thought it was a draw: Trump won the first half, and Hillary won the second half. Since most people stopped paying attention after the first 30 minutes, thats a win for Trump.

Hillary supporters, or the media, had reason to be happy: She looked healthy! She probably could have kept reciting her snarky little talking points for another hour.

In fact, it was the best Ive ever seen Hillary. She avoided that honking thing she does, smiled a lot a little too much, actually (maybe ease up on the pep pills next time) and, as the entire media has gleefully reported, she managed to bait Trump.

Note to the Trump campaign: While it may seem studly that Hillarys best performance versus Trumps worst ends in a draw, on Nov. 9, no one wants to say:We almost won and our guy didnt prepare!

The medias excitement over Hillary successfully baiting Trump is revealing of the media, of what this election is really about, and of what Trump needs to do now.

The definition of Trump taking the bait was getting him to talk about himself, not about issues. This from a media that claim to be aching for policy specifics.

Hillary with assists from the moderator baited Trump on how rich he is, the loan from his father, a lawsuit in 1972, the birther claims, who he said what to about the Iraq War from 2001 to 2003, and so on.

For the media, their gal was winning whenever precious minutes of a 90-minute debate were spent rehashing allegations about Trump.Ha ha! We prevented Trump from talking about issues that matter to the American people! That was scored as a win.

Nothing illustrates more clearly that this election is about the people versus the elites than the fact that the media run from Trumps issues like Dracula from the sun.

Trump wins whenever he talks about issues; he loses whenever he talks about himself.

Trump was winning when he talked about the heinous trade deals that have shipped jobs abroad and immiserated millions of Americans which Hillary supports. He was winning when he talked about bringing order and safety to black neighborhoods overrun with crime; Hillarys with the criminals. He was winning when he talked about rebuilding our inner cities, instead of saying, Vote for me! then, See you in four years! as Hillary does.

Unlike the media, ordinary people dont care about Trumps taxes or net worth or the things he said as an entertainer. Trump will be dead and gone in 30 years. But whether America continues to exist or becomes some dystopian blend of Guatemala and Afghanistan will be determined by this election.

Its almost impossible not to correct a lie, especially about yourself, which is why Hillary and Lester Holts baiting strategy was to make outrageous claims about Trump.

Hillary, for example, criticized Trump for not releasing his tax returns, saying, maybe hes paid nothing in federal taxes.

This is exactly what Sen. Harry Reid stated as hard fact about Romney in 2012 on the Senate floor, so he couldnt be sued. After the election was over, Reid was asked about this obvious falsehood. He laughed it off and said, Romney didnt win, did he?

This is the game they play.

Trump has got to learn to ignore it. The voters have. They dont care about his taxes. They want jobs, they want a wall and theyd like fewer Muslims showing up, collecting welfare, then killing Americans.

Trump doesnt have to do formal debate practice, standing at a podium, facing off against a shorty in pantsuit. But he does need Pavlovian training to stop responding to irrelevancies.

This isnt about him! Its about a movement of the people to take back their government from an arrogant plutocracy.

From now until the next debate, every single person who works for Trump should personally insult him several times a day.

Good morning, sir your business is a total fraud.

Here are those trade stats you wanted oh and you lied about opposing the war in Iraq.

The Cincinnati airport needs a tail number why did you fat-shame that poor girl?

If he starts to respond, they should say, No one cares, sir. Tell me how youre going to stop Mexican drugs from pouring across our border.

The proof that voters dont care about the personal attacks on Trump is that, even after his lazy and self-indulgent debate performance, he won nearly every online poll.

Evidently, the American people have sized up the candidates and decided they want Trump. But theres just one last formality: He needs to pass some minimum threshold, a basic job requirement like proving he has a drivers license.

Everybody agrees hes got the job. Its too late for Hillary to be sucking up to the hiring committee, reminding them, but I took drivers ed seven times yes, there were mistakes, but I was grilled for 11 hours about that vehicular homicide. Also, the Russians hacked my GPS.

Trump showed up at the debate with his drivers license. Thats all anyone needed to see.

"In Trump We Trust" Bestselling Author Ann Coulter Betrayed By The Donald"s Hefty Immigration Flip-Flops

Ann Coulter Featured At Rob Lowe Roast

In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!, an obviously pro-Donald Trump book, happened to have been untimely released. The Republican nominee himself messed it up, in effect, betraying its bestselling author, Ann Coulter, with his sudden change of mind on immigration policies.

Whether Coulters latest book will join her list of 12 New York Times bestsellers, no one can tell, at least this early. One thing is sure, though. The author of In Trump We Trust, upon hearing Donalds recent massive flip-flops on immigration issues, fumed, resorting to some tweet storming business to discredit her main man in the book.

Only part he left out was the "hoops" they"ll have to jump through! Trump:"No citizenship. Let me go a step furtherthey"ll pay back-taxes"

Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) August 25, 2016

Trump: "they have to pay taxes, there"s no amnesty" [Pro Tip: "Back taxes" means we pay illegals $30k apiece in EITC.}

Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) August 25, 2016

It"s not "amnesty." It"s "comprehensive immigration reform"!!!! Trump: "they have to pay taxes, there"s no amnesty."

Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) August 25, 2016

Well, if it"s "hard," then nevermind. Trump: " to take a person who"s been here for 15 or 20 years .It"s a very, very hard thing."

Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) August 25, 2016

For some unknown reason, the author of In Trump We Trust later retracted.

COULTER SCORCHES MEDIA: I"M NOT "ABANDONING" TRUMP https://t.co/nppE6C73zb

Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) August 25, 2016

Coulters message in her 182-page hagiography, as Dan Roberts of the Guardian aptly called it, is loud and clear.

Theres nothing Trump can do that wont be forgiven. Except change his immigration policies.

That could have given the Republican presidential wanna-be a further veneer of respectability, said Roberts, had he not squandered it.

As the Guardians Washington bureau chief had it, Unfortunately, at the very moment of the book-signing, that was exactly what Trump was doing.

In this Aug. 22, 2016, file photo, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump meets with active and retired law enforcement in Akron, Ohio. Just days ago Trump reshuffled his campaign staff just as he tries to recalibrate his message for the general election, in which his tough stance on immigration may be more of a liability than it was in the Republican primary. [Photo by Gerald Herbert/AP Images]In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump proved to have softened his previously tough anti-immigration policies to win the moderates, through which emerged a rather different figure than the one Coulter portrayed in her In Trump We Trust.

Responding to Hannitys query on the fate of approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, Trump said that, should he become Americas next president, while these people will get no citizenship, they will be required to pay taxes in exchange for legal status, provided we get the bad ones out.

Acknowledging that everybody in the audience agrees with the idea, the Republican presidential hopeful went on to say that when I go through and meet thousands and thousands of people on this subject, and theyve said, Mr Trump, I love you, but to take a person whos been here for 15 or 20 years and throw them and their family out, its so tough, Mr Trump. I have it all the time! Its a very, very hard thing.

Exchanges of comments continued on in the show until Trump made his point even clearer.

Those people that have been working so hard to come into the country and going through the process, the conservative GOP nominee said, were going to take them in, and were going to cherish them, and theyre going to love us. We want the ones that want to love us, not the ones that want to create problems.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at Jonis Roast and Ride during a fundraiser at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016. [Photo by Gerald Herbert/AP Images]These must have run contrary to Coulters In Trump We Trust, which, according to the Atlantics Peter Beinart, devotes six chapters to the subject of immigrants and rape, echoing its main characters original strong anti-immigration leanings.

But unlike many Trump defenders, Beinart pointed out, Coulter makes clear that her primary allegiance is not to Trump the man.

Its to the nostalgic Make America White Again brand of conservatism that she began peddling even before he did, Beinart said. In In Trump We Trust, Coulter calls Trump a tasteless, publicity-seeking, coarse billionaire and argues that, the one thing voters werent wild about was his personality."

If Trump were to succeed in his bid for the presidency, according to Beinart, alluding to what Coulter has to say in the book, it would be because his campaign has been ideological, which falls into line with American white supremacists protests against the federal governments immigration policies.

Considering Trumps recent change of mind on immigration issues, however, it is very likely that he will lose the support of this segment of American electors.

Only last Saturday in Iowa, the Republican nominee was heard again with yet another flip-flop on the issue, promising crackdown on immigrants, Clay Masters of the NPR reported, including removing the hundreds and thousands of criminal illegal immigrants that have been released into the United States and United States communities under the incompetent Obama/Clinton administration.

Ann Coulter Criticizes Trump For Walking Back Mass Deportations During Fox News Town Hall

Heartbroken Ann Coulter Lashes Out at Donald Trump

ANN COULTER: You know, as for this idea that even if Trump believed -- and look,I think he made a mistake in the things he said to you. He was using the catch phrase, "oh, and I have a glossary here for all the euphemisms for supporting amnesty," claiming they"ll pay back taxes is one of them. No citizenship is another one. These are all the Marco Rubio cliches used to push the "Gang of Eight" bill. And even -- look, I don"t think that"s true. I think it"s stupid because all Trump is doing is demoralizing his base. The never -- the people who hate him still hate him, but now they can call him a flip-flopper. Way to go, whoever told Trump to say that.
