Updated April 30 at 10:40 a.m.

Prominent Baltimore activist Joseph Kent who was arrested Tuesday night on live TV was released Thursday morning, according to a tweet from his attorney Steve Beatty.

Kent's arrest, broadcast on CNN, showed him walking with his hands up in front of a police line after the city's 10 p.m. curfew. He was quickly surrounded by members of the National Guard before being pushed into an armored car.

Kent's whereabouts after the arrest were largely unknown and until Beatty began giving updates on social media.

Kent, a 21-year-old music student at Morgan State University, gained attention during protests in Baltimore after the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., according to a 2014 report in the Baltimore City Paper. In that report, Kent is credited with helping to keep protests peaceful and organized.

On Tuesday, Kent was participating in protests following the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died on April 19 from a spinal injury obtained while in police custody. The city instituted a 10 p.m. curfew after riots Monday night left buildings burned and police officers injured.

USA TODAY Network contacted the Baltimore Police Department, but the public information officers have not returned calls and emails for comment.

Here's the arrest video from CNN:

We've waited 18 years for this. By Luke Karmali

Dragon Ball Super: Y Dragon Ball GT?

Quicksilver's Brand Focus Keeps It At A Disadvantage

  • ZQKs revenue and operating margin have remained dismal in comparison to its peers, despite favorable industry-wide trends.
  • ZQKs brand focus connects more directly with action sports, while that of its competitors connects with a fun and comfortable sports-as-fashion lifestyle.
  • ZQKs brand focus is translating into low sales growth as consumers take sportswear and accessories more as fashion items.

Outdoor sports apparel and accessories industry has been witnessing sales increases for quite a few years because of increased consumer expenditure on sports-related apparel and accessories. Consumers are also spending more on such merchandise as sportswear has become part of everyday lifestyle and fashion. The growth has been particularly high in Latin America and Asia.

Quiksilver Inc. (NYSE:ZQK) is an outdoor sports and sports retailer which is still lagging behind its peers in profitability growth. Quiksilver's sales decreases in comparison to sales increases of its peers [Columbia Sportswear Company (NASDAQ:COLM), Nike Inc. (NYSE:NKE) and CF Corp (NYSE:VFC)] look like this:

(Data source: Morningstar.com)

Comparison of operating margins look like this:

(Data source: Morningstar.com)

Still the ZQK spends roughly the same as its peers on the designing, manufacturing, and distribution of its merchandise. Sourcing, designing, manufacturing, distribution and retailing practices remain similar across the industry. ZQK's cost of sales are within three percentage points of that of its peers. Cost of sales comparisons look like this:

(Data source: Morningstar.com)

ZQK's profitability is being eaten out of its selling, general and administrative expenses and low revenue growth.

ZQK spends significantly more on marketing, advertising and brand building activities than its peers, which on the one hand, has reduced operating margin to negative figures, and on the other hand, has not translated in revenue growth despite industry-wide favorable consumer spending and macroeconomic trends. ZQK's brand focus is the key here. Lately, ZQK's sales declines mainly came from reduced sales of Roxy and DC brands, in the wholesale channel in North America and European markets. While the peers, COLM, NKE and VFC also employ the wholesale channel as the main contributor to revenue, their brand focus is markedly different from that of ZQK.

ZQK's brands directly target the action sports lifestyle. The three brands, Quiksilver, Roxy and DC are positioned on surfing and board-riding sports; female surfing, beach and board-riding; and technical skateboarding apparel and footwear, respectively. ZQK brands targets youngsters who have an aspirational connection snow, surf and skate board sports. The company has been actively involved in surf, skate and snow sports. It sponsors leading athletes, including Rob Dyrdek, Torah Bright, Dane Reynolds, Jeremy Flores, Nyjah Huston, and Stephanie Gilmore among others. ZQk also sponsors sports events including Quiksilver Pro and Quiksilver In the Memory of Eddie Aikau. Some of the athletes also participate in X-Games and Olympics Sponsored use and demonstration of ZQK's brands in event and brand communications associates ZQK's brands with lifestyle of those who are active in these sports.

On the other hand, brands by COLM, NKE and VFC, e.g. Columbia, Sorel and Air Jordan, are positioned more on comfort, fun and active lifestyle values. Such brands position themselves on demographic and fashion specific customer segments. For example, COLM's brand Sorel offers premium fashion, casual and cold-weather footwear with an emphasis on fashion-forward females. prAna offers stylish and functional apparel and accessories made with an emphasis on sustainable materials and processes. COLM targets a wide range of consumer segments with its differentiated brands. In contrast to ZQK, COLM keeps a diverse brand focus according to customer segments and does not position its brands with an special emphasis on sports activities.

Consumer trends driving industry growth include customers' increased preference of sportswear as a fashion and lifestyle choice, not as a direct aid of or aspiration to athletic sports activities.

In this way, ZQK's brand focus is misplaced. Its brands are positioned as a direct aid and aspiration to sports activities and lifestyle; as opposed to being sources as providers of fun, comfortable and fashion-forward element in customers' lives. I think that this places ZQK in a less favorable position in the minds of its customers. As customers look for integrating sports-related apparel and accessories as a fashion choice in their lives, brands by companies like COLM, NKE and VFC appeal more to them than the brands by ZQK. This has resulted in ZQK's low sales growth and has caused its margins to decline. As revenue increases remain low, fixed costs have a smaller base to spread upon and thus contribute to higher SG&A expenses.

I think that ZQK's brand focus keeps it at a disadvantage in the current outdoor sports apparel ad industry environment. As the company is unlikely to successfully shift the positioning of its brands in a short time period, I believe that ZQK's stock is best avoided.

Ray Lewis will remain in Baltimore area to calm violence, won't work draft for ...

Former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was planning to head to Chicago this week to be a part of ESPN's broadcast of the NFL draft, which starts on Thursday night.

However, Lewis has decided to stay in Baltimore where he'll try help stop violence in the city following the death of Freddie Gray, who died of a spinal cord injury while he was in police custody last week.

"I felt that it was more important for me to stay in Baltimore and try to help the city I love," Lewis said in a statement released by ESPN. "I greatly appreciate ESPN's understanding and flexibility at this late date. I did not feel right leaving the city at this time."

Lewis, who played 17 years for the Ravensin an expected Hall of Fame career, earlier in the day made a passionate plea on his Facebook pageto stop the violence.

Lewis still lives in the Baltimore area andhas vowed todo his part to help the situation.

Few athletes are as connected to a city as Ray is to Baltimore, having played his entire career there and based on all the work he has done in that community," said ESPN senior coordinating producer Seth Markman. "While we will miss him at the draft, we completely support him in this decision and we hope his involvement will help resolve the situation there."

ESPN's front office insider Louis Riddick will take Lewis' place on Thursday's broadcast of the first round, joining Chris Berman, Jon Gruden and Mel Kiper Jr.

Islanders Fans Feel a Double Loss: It's Over for Nassau Coliseum, Too

COMMACK, N.Y. About 26 miles east of an eerily silent Nassau Coliseum, Islanders fans packed Millers Ale House on Monday, hoping for another dramatic victory in Game 7 of their teams first-round playoff series against the Capitals.

They watched on dozens of televisions, their garb blue and orange in contrast to the sea of red dominating the images from the game in Washington.

Wearing a white John Tavares No. 91 jersey and a blue team cap, Jerome Minerva of Huntington, N.Y., paced as he desperately tried to coax an early goal from his team.

Both teams look nervous, but the Islanders a little more, Minerva, a dedicated Islanders fan since 1978, said during the first period.

His words proved prophetic: The Islanders mustered only 11 shots on goal en route to a 2-1 loss.

The apprehensive fans at the bar and surely at countless other venues across Long Island were hoping for a few more playoff games at the Coliseum, with their team set to move to Brooklyn.

When the Islanders tied the game at 1-1 early in the third period on a goal by Frans Nielsen, fans broke into a Yes! Yes! Yes! chant.

But Washington scored again midway through the period and held on for the victory. The realization set in among the fans that it was not only the season that was over; so was the Islanders 43-year-run at the Coliseum.

Im disappointed they lost, Jerry Smith, 27, of Smithtown, N.Y., said. And Im sad the Coliseum is done.

The sentiment was repeated by many fans who lingered as the postgame show from Verizon Center in Washington continued on the TV screens. Few watched.

Islanders fans will now have to travel to Brooklyn for home games and manufacture new methods of gathering beforehand and afterward.

Im upset they lost, but I feel worse that they wont be playing any more at Nassau Coliseum, said Adam Swanson, 38, of Smithtown, who wore a blue Tavares jersey. Im really glad I made it to two more games there this season. That place is special and always will be.

Continue reading the main story Video Islanders Fans Prepare for Brooklyn

As the regular season winds down in the N.H.L., Islanders fans are preparing for the teams move to Barclays Center next season after 43 years at Nassau Coliseum.

By Colin Archdeacon on Publish Date April 10, 2015.

Christi Kunzig, a former member of the Islanders Ice Girls a team of women in cheerleaderlike outfits who ensure the playing surface is clean of ice shavings and debris watched the game at home with friends. The finality of the Islanders move to Brooklyn resonated with her even more because of her special bond with the fans and the staff at their longtime arena, she said.

I love going there and knowing all the season-ticket holders, the security guards and the ushers, she said. Its been like a family working there, so its sad to see that end.

This final season, in which the Islanders won 47 regular-season games and finished with 101 points, essentially became a protracted goodbye to a site that is a part of the fabric of Long Island.

A win over the Capitals would have given the Islanders a second-round matchup with the Rangers, a series that would have had New Yorks hockey fans on edge. With the defeat comes a long summer off and the question of what games will be like in Brooklyn, where tailgating will be virtually impossible and hundreds of seats in the arena will have an obstructed view of the ice.

The veteran fan George Seelig, who has rooted for the Islanders since their inception in 1972, was happy to be among his brethren no matter the outcome.

Photo Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Uniondale, has been the home of the Islanders since 1972. Credit Kirsten Luce for The New York Times

I wanted to be someplace loud, fun and near home, said Seelig, a Commack resident.

The fans cheered every save by Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak he finished with 24 and moaned when he strayed from his crease. They fell silent when Washingtons Joel Ward broke the scoreless tie late in the second period.

The Hofstra senior Jeremy Musella, a die-hard fan since 1997 who is still waiting for a playoff series win, chose a philosophical outlook for the seasons conclusion.

For me, there really isnt a next year because Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will always be home, said Musella, who watched the game from home.

But for Minerva, the fan from Huntington at Millers Ale House, who shed his jersey after the game for a gray Islanders T-shirt, another pressure-filled playoff matchup evoked a flood of memories of past postseason defeats.

Before they won four straight Stanley Cups from 1980 to 1983, the Islanders were upset by the Rangers in 1979. And 13 years ago, they were defeated by Toronto in seven games.

I cried in 1979, I cried in 2002, and I cried tonight, Minerva said.

After another razor-thin defeat for his team and the official end for the only home rink the Islanders have ever known a few tears were understandable.

Kentucky Derby 2015: Alabama native Carla Gaines seeks historic win in 141st ...

Bolo won't rank among the favorites when the 141st Kentucky Derby goes off on Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs. According to the odds at the online betting site Bovada, he's a 40-1 long shot right now. But to Carla Gaines, Bolo is an "amazing, amazing horse. Beautiful horse. What can I say? He's the main man."

It's understandable Gaines would feel that way. Not only does she love horses, she's Bolo's trainer, and for the first time in her more than 25 years training horses, she's preparing to saddle a Kentucky Derby entry.

The Birmingham native could make history with Bolo on Saturday. A woman has never trained a Kentucky Derby winner.

Although thoroughbred racing is a male-dominated sport, Gaines said she couldn't see a reason a trainer's gender would make a difference.

"Maybe men are a little stronger physically, but you're not stronger than a horse," Gaines told Blood-Horse. "You're never going to dominate a horse because you're male. It's just in your head how you deal with your animals and how you get along with them and how you cooperate with them."

But Gaines, 62, understands how unusual she is.

"I hear it a lot, though," Gaines said in a video interview for Churchill Downs. "'She's a great female trainer.' I say. 'You're supposed to say I'm just a great trainer.'"

Gaines didn't begin training horses until she was in her 30s. Equipped with undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Alabamain psychology and sociology, she had set out to "change the world" as a counselor for troubled and at-risk children.

"My first job was with kids who had been in trouble, abused and neglected," Gaines told the Daily Racing Form. "I had one kid who shot his father, but his father was molesting his sister. He didn't know how to stop the pain."

Gaines sought solace on horseback.

"As soon as I was through work, I would get on my horse and take off riding down the trail," Gaines toldthe Independent of London. "It was just a great release."

Gaines fell in love with horses at her grandfather's farm, where her mother held her aboard a Tennessee Walking horse as a small child. By her teen years, Gaines was riding hunters and jumpers.

"I always had a passion for horses ever since I was very, very small," Gaines said. "My grandfather had a farm in rural Alabama. They brought us a couple of ponies, and so that's sort of how I started riding."

When Gaines felt her job overwhelming her, she took some time off with a horse-related adventure.

"After I while, I couldn't take it," Gaines said. "I just needed a sabbatical from the cruelty of humanity. I never intended to train. I planned on going back to my career. But I never went back."

Her sabbatical included joining friends who bought yearlings and prepared them in Louisiana for sale as 2-year-olds in the horse-racing centers of Florida and Maryland.

"I worked for two, three years as a psychologist or a counselor," Gaines said. "I kind of needed to get away from it for a while. When I went to the horses, it was supposed to be just a sabbatical and then I was going to choose another field in psychology or social work, and I just got hooked on this. My family was a bit mortified. ... But all you have to do is have a horse like Bolo, Curlin's Fox or whatever walk out of your barn every morning, and you think, 'I don't want to do anything else.'"

After moving to California to pursue her horse-racing dreams, Gaines worked as an exercise rider and became an assistant trainer. In a $4,000 claiming race at the Solano County Fair in 1989, Glory Quest won his first start under Gaines' training, and she was on her way to a 40-horse stable at Santa Anita.

"I was so proud of that horse," Gaines told Blood-Horse, "and he was this beautiful chestnut an old claimer. I worked on him and worked on him, then ran him for the first time at Vallejo. They grow corn on the track there in the winter."

Gaines earned her first Grade I victory when Nashoba's Key won the 2007 Vanity Handicap. She has 25 graded-stakes victories, including four Grade I wins, on her resume now.

RELATED:KENTUCKY DERBY 2015: MEET THE CONTENDERS AND WATCH THEM RUN

Bolo ended his 2-year-old season with a pair of victories on turf. As a 3-year-old, he's run third in the Grade II San Felipe Stakes on March 7 and the Grade I Santa Anita Derby on April 4, with Dortmund, one of the leading Kentucky Derby contenders, winning both races.

Bolo's dirt showings earned enough points to put him 19th in the Road to the Kentucky Derby point standings. Twenty horses can enter the race, and Bolo's owners decided to take the opportunity to Run for the Roses. Bolo flew from California to Kentucky on Sunday for the biggest race of his live.

"After he got enough points to actually participate, that's what we decided to do," Gaines toldthe Louisville Courier-Journal. "I know it's an incredibly tough year and there are some very good horses, but our horse is good, too."

While Bolo will be a long shot, he's already beaten the odds to reach the Kentucky Derby. Now Bolo has only 19 horses left to beat to race into history with Gaines.

"There's one horse every year that's capable of pulling that off in what's a 30,000-, 40,000-foal crop," Gaines said, "and that's everyone's dream and desire."

Awaiting word on today's Orioles game

No decision has been made as to whether the Orioles will play today's scheduled game against the Chicago White Sox. And if the Orioles do play a baseball game, were still not certain when or where it will occur.

All the possibilities were still being discussed late Monday night and early today. As of 9:20 this morning, no decision has been made and an Orioles spokesman said the team will relay any update immediately via email and social media.

On Monday, moments after the Orioles announced they were postponing their series opener against the White Sox, new commissioner Rob Manfred indicated the series could be moved to another site, also saying that Nationals Park, which is about 40 minutes south of Camden Yards, could be an option.

But now, it seems more likely that the Orioles will attempt to resume play at Camden Yards. Since Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake has enacted a week-long 10 p.m. curfew starting today, the Orioles would likely play during the day rather than the scheduled 7:05 p.m. start time. A 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. start would allow the Orioles to play and finish before the curfew.

No decision has been made, but according to a source, the Orioles would rather do everything possible to attempt to play today in Baltimore before engaging any thought of relocating games to alternative sites.

The Orioles homestand runs through Sunday, and the Nationals next home game isnt until Monday, but moving the teams game to Nationals Park offers several challenges, including staffing and ticketing issues.

There isnt much precedent handling these situations. During the Los Angeles riots in spring 1992, the Dodgers three-game series against the Montreal Expos was postponed until the Expos next trips to Los Angeles in July, when the teams made up the games with three straight days of doubleheaders.

This is the White Soxs only trip to Baltimore this season. The Orioles play a three-game series in Chicago over Fourth of July weekend.

Much like Monday and dating back to Saturday the situation is a fluid one. The Orioles work closely with local authorities to gauge public safety and any potentially dangerous situation. Most times, they are advised by the local police and other times they are directed by local authorities, like Saturday nights lockdown.

Following Thursday's off day, the Orioles end their homestand with a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. A protest in the city has been planned for Saturday.

The Rays are monitoring the events in Baltimore andThe Tampa Bay Times suggested that there could be a possibility of moving this weekend's games to Tropicana Field in exchange for playing a series scheduled for St. Petersburg later this season in Baltimore. Rays officials told The Times Monday night they had not been contacted about moving the games to the Trop or elsewhere.

WWE News: Backstage Update On Brock Lesnar And Paul Heyman's Return To ...

Last night, during the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, WWE decision-makers booked an excellent show. Despite Daniel Bryans injury, Neville and Bad News Barrett put on one of the greatest pre-show matches in WWE history. It truly was Nevilles breakthrough match in WWE. Throughout the night, the Big Show and Roman Reigns impressed everybody.

Seth Rollins and Randy Ortons match started out slow, but the WWE champion impressed with an RKO for the victory inside a steel cage. He escaped the cage even though Kane interfered. There was one thing that was blatantly missing, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman.

In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, Brock Lesnar indeed signed a big contract, to which Vince McMahon catered. The business decision made perfect sense because Lesnar and Heyman are WWEs biggest attractions. Due to the popularity of the former-WWE champion and his main man, they will have to be back on WWE television soon.

According to Daily Wrestling News, the dynamic duo of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will be back on WWE programming momentarily.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the plan is for Paul Heyman to be off WWE TV until July, likely when Brock Lesnar will also return. We noted before that there were rumors after WrestleMania 31 of Lesnar returning to feud with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

There are two pay-per-views that come between Extreme Rules and SummerSlam. They are Payback and Money in the Bank in succession. At Payback, it is rumored that Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and Seth Rollins will take part in a triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight championship. It was leaked in a video that spread across the Internet a few days ago.

After the three of them fight for the prestigious belt, Rollins will be victorious and it will then set forth another challenger for Brock Lesnar who returns to the WWE in July. Thats also the same month as the Money in the Bank ladder match. Will Lesnar win WWEs briefcase?

Him winning it is one option, but its also very unlikely. For starters, that would waste another WWE Money in the Bank opportunity on a veteran that doesnt need it. Two, Dean Ambrose is rumored to win the briefcase this year.

Three, Brock Lesnar has a rematch clause that hes waiting to use upon his return. The WWE is in a win-win situation with their WWE championship at the moment. Lesnar will demand a rematch when he comes back and Dean Ambrose might win the case. That way, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose will fight for the WWE title. Now, thats best for business.

Nepal Earthquake: Americans Desperately Wait for Word on Loved Ones

American families are anxiously awaiting word from loved ones in Nepal, where the catastrophic earthquake over the weekend knocked out power and phone service for whole swaths of the country.

Four Americans are confirmed to have died in the earthquake, all of whom were at a base camp at Mount Everest: Tom Taplin, a Denver-born filmmaker; Marisa Eve Girawong, a Seattle camp doctor; Dan Fredinburg, an engineer for Google; and Vinh B. Truong. The State Department confirmed Truong's death Monday.

Diane Schumacher of Seattle last heard from her daughter Sydney, 19, by text from Kathmandu a week ago, just before she and a friend, Bailey Meola, headed off on a trek through the Langtang Valley, a national park 80 miles from the capital known for spectacular scenery.

They were traveling on their own, part of an adventure between high school and college, but they had plenty of experience in the outdoor life, Schumacher told NBC News by phone Monday.

"They are pretty strong, independent young ladies," she said.

The women were not expected to check back in until Sunday. The earthquake struck Saturday. It was measured at 7.8 magnitude and is known to have killed more than 3,800 people.

It was not clear Monday how many Americans were unaccounted for in Nepal. Dozens of families have registered with the International Red Cross, but that number includes Americans who have been heard from.

Google's Person Finder, which allows users to post under "I'm looking for someone" and "I have information about someone," said it was tracking 6,100 records as of Monday afternoon, but that figure covers people from many countries.

Schumacher said she reached an official at the national park headquarters who told her that the village had been destroyed by an avalanche and that people were moving higher to await rescue.

She said she was worried about reports that people are trapped and running out of food and that the Nepalese military does not have the resources to reach all the people who are trapped.

Meola's mother, Rachelle Brown, told NBC News that she thinks the two may have been near the peaks in Langtang when the earthquake struck.

"We are feeling extremely concerned," she said.

Bailey, also 19, set out to travel the world instead of heading to college right after high school. During her senior year, she was anxious about deciding a course for her life, her mother said.

The trip took Meola from Seattle to Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia and Laos before she met up with Sydney and embarked for Nepal. She has stops in Austria, Italy and Ireland ahead of her. She worked hard to pay for her adventure.

"This was going to solidify what her purpose in life was going to be," her mother said.

This is the last photo of Bailey Meola before she went missing in Nepal. She was Skypeing with her mother, Rachelle Brown, from Kathmandu.

Also trekking in Nepal were Jim Lane and Darlene Richmond, from Lummi Island in Washington state.

They have been traveling since April and are due to return home June 2. They last checked in with family on Wednesday, and they were expected to be out of contact for two weeks.

"They were going to be in the mountains, trekking through the Makalu region," said Darlene's sister Doreen.

The couple have traveled to exotic locales in the past for hikes. "That's what they like to do," Doreen said. She said the family is hoping they will check in to reassure everybody.

In Decatur, Georgia, the family of Marty Emanuel told NBC News that they were worried but optimistic. When the quake struck, Emanuel, 71, a retired art professor, was two days into a trek into the Langtang Valley, along Nepal's border with Tibet.

Emanuel is in great shape and trained extensively, hiking Stone Mountain not far from home, said his son Ben. Emanuel was with a local guide whom he met on a previous trip and was already expected to be out of cell range for two weeks.

"He's very resourceful," Ben Emanuel told NBC News. "He's done a lot of wilderness travel, and you have to be self-reliant. Same goes for his guide, Dilli not only resourceful but well-connected."

Marty Emanuel has traveled in retirement and went to Nepal with his wife a year and a half ago.

"He's gotten attached to Nepal," he son said. "He really, from their first trip, really enjoyed getting to know the people there. He said wonderful things."

Atlanta-area doctors to board flight to Nepal with MAP International drugs

BRUNSWICK | A shipment of $330,000 badly needed antibiotics and other drugs is leaving MAP International bound for Nepal to help those injured in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake with more shipments planned, officials from the Christian relief organization said.

The 30 24-pound boxes will be headed to Nepal in an unusual way, first in a van up Interstates 95 and 16 and then aboard a commercial flight in the hands of the volunteer physicians who will use them in Nepal, said Kipp Branch, MAPs senior medicines officer.

This is one of those wild stories, Branch said.

The medicine will be loaded aboard a van provided by the Dan Vaden Chevrolet dealership in Brunswick and driven to the Bass Pro Shops store outside Atlanta where it will be picked up and driven to Atlanta, Branch said.

There a team of 15 physicians from Active Communities that Serve World Relief, or ACTSwr, will board a flight and each will check in two of the 24-pound boxes as luggage, Branch said.

Theyre going to tape two boxes together. Theyre going to carry it, he said.

That way, the doctors who will use the supplies will have them when they arrive in Nepal, he said.

Each of these boxes has $11,000 worth of medicines, heavy on antibiotics, he said.

There are also gloves for sanitary settings, vitamins and other supplies, Branch said.

That is atypical of MAP, which usually bundles boxes of medicines on shipping pallets and moves them by ship or air freight to get them into the hands of partner medical teams that arrive separately or sometimes already in the affected country. Branch said this is just an initial shipment, that MAP is preparing to ship more.

An emergency health kit is being procured from the Netherlands that has enough medicine to treat 10,000 people for up to three months and workers in Brunswick will be packing a shipping container that will be sent by ocean freight. Branch said that medicine may go by another means because of some humanitarian air flight opportunities.

But Rotary Club conventioneers will be paying the freight for some shipments, MAP President and CEO Steve Stirling said.

An amazing thing happened this weekend, said Stirling, who spoke to a gathering on Jekyll Island of Rotary Club District 6900 members from Atlanta and western Georgia.

Stirling said his talk kept being delayed, which he interpreted as the hand of G*d because the longer he waited the more was known about the disaster.

At the time, the death toll was 1,000, about a quarter of what was known Monday morning, and Stirling said he challenged the Rotarians to raise the $25,000 needed to ship a 20-foot container of $2.1 million in medicine for Nepal.

Country music star Larry Gatlin led the donations with the $150 in cash he had in his pocket, Stirling said.

He said, Whatever you guys dont raise, Ill fill the gap, Stirling said.

Rotarians apparently dont like leaving gaps to fill so by Sunday the conventioneers had donated $29,000, Stirling said.

The medicines will meet a great need because dangerous infections often set in from injuries like those suffered in earthquakes, he said.

Also, there are drugs to treat diarrhea, the primary killer of children in such disasters, Stirling said.

These are really life-saving drugs, he said.

The 20-foot container will follow the early air shipments to continue treating injured and sick Nepalese in the coming months, Stirling said.

Mourners Remember Freddie Gray After Night of Massive Protest

Protests in Baltimore over the death of a black man who died a week after his arrest gave way to a Sunday morning church service and a wake to remember the 25-year-old.

Mourners filed quietly in and out of Vaughn Greene East Funeral Home to honor Freddie Gray, who died April 19 after an April 12 arrest by Baltimore police left him with an allegedly severed spine.

Gray, in an open casket, was dressed in a white shirt, black pants, white sneakers and a white Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap, according to The Associated Press. Inside the coffin was a pillow embossed with Gray's picture and the quotation "Peace, Y'all."

Earlier, church-goers were encouraged to worship with the Gray family at Empowerment Temple AME Church, where Pastor Jamal Bryant delivered the message "Somebody's Gonna Have To Pay," according to the church's Facebook page. Attendees were asked to wear gray in memory of the young man.

Empowerment Temple will pay for Gray's funeral, scheduled for 11 a.m. ET Monday.

Meanwhile, Baltimore police said extra officers were patrolling the streets after "a small contingent" of the at least 1,000 people who demonstrated Saturday became violent. The protesters were "mostly peaceful," police said in a statement, but some vandalized stores and police vehicles, leading to 34 arrests.

While Saturday's protest was the largest since Gray's death, residents have been taking to the streets to demands answers since he died.

Authorities haven't disclosed what caused Gray's injuries. A cellphone camera captured him being pinned to the ground and then loaded into a police van. Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said Friday that Gray wasn't seat-belted while he was being transported in the van and that officers should have gotten him medical care immediately following his detainment.

Here's the first photo of Jared Leto as the Joker

DC Comics is currently celebrating the 75th anniversary of Batman's arch-nemesis, the Joker.

What better way to celebrate than by revealing the first official look at the next incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime?

Director David Ayer shared the first image of Jared Leto as the Joker via Twitter on Friday evening. The Oscar-winning actor will play the famed villain in next year's "Suicide Squad" film.

Leto will be the first person to play the role of the Joker since the late Heath Ledger in 2008's "The Dark Knight."

What do you think?

This is different than any iteration of the Joker we've seen before.

Here are a few ways the character has looked on screen in the past.

Cesar Romero popularized the the iconic green hair, white makeup, and red lips on screen in the '60s television series, "Batman."

Jack Nicholson went through a long makeup process to show off the Joker's wide grin for Tim Burton's 1989 film "Batman."

AP Photo / Warner Bros. One of the most famous versions of the character is Mark Hamill's (yes, that Hamill) version of the wise-cracking clown in "Batman: The Animated Series."

Warner Bros./Batman: The Animated SeriesHarley Quinn's first appearance in season one, episode 22 of "Batman: The Animated Series." The Joker is known best for wearing his iconic purple suit and for his bleached-white skin. He looked pretty similar in the "Batman: Arkham" video game series.

YouTube screencap

Heath Ledger brought an entire darker look to the character in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight," dying his long locks a shade of green. The Joker never looked more ragged, sinister, and chaotic.

Warner Bros.

In recent years, the Joker character featured in the DC Comics has taken on a similar darker edge.

In the Batman storyline, "Death of the Family," the Joker wore a mask of his own face strapped onto him. It's the most twisted version of the character yet.

DC ComicsHere's another look at Leto's Joker.

@DavidAyerMovies/TwitterThere's a lot to unpack here.

He's different from any Joker before for a few reasons:

1. He's shirtlessThe only instance I can recall seeing the Joker shirtless was during a gag on the animated series where he was wrapped in a towel ready to take a bath.

2. He doesn't have the bleached-white skinA huge part of the Joker's origin story is that he fell and/orjumped (depending on the story) into a barrel of chemicals that permanently dyed his skin white, made his hair green, and turned his lips ruby red.

3.He's covered in tattoos. The tattoos covering Leto's body are all iconic symbols representing the Joker. The classic "Ha Ha Ha" writing, which became a big part of marketing "The Dark Knight," the wide grin, and the deck of cards alluding to his calling card. There's a J on his face for Joker, or Mr. J, as his girlfriend Harley affectionately refers to him. Another tattoo on his hand looks like it may be chattering teeth. There's also a skull mask wearing a jester hat. Is he the court jester of death? One more tattoo near his stomach looks like it may say Joker.

It's not clear whether this will be the final look for Leto or if the tattoos may just be to promote the 75th anniversary.

"Suicide Squad" will be released August 5, 2016.

Ex-nanny for Penguins' Chris Kunitz charged with stealing jewelry

PITTSBURGH -- The former nanny of Pittsburgh Penguins player Chris Kunitz has been charged with stealing diamond earrings worth about $12,000 from his home, then selling them to jewelry stores, police said.

The theft charges filed by police in Collier Township, where Kunitz lives with his wife and their children, grew out of an unrelated arson and insurance fraud investigation by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

In that case, Andrea Forsythe, 26, of Oakdale, is charged with setting fire to a home she rented in Sturgeon, and then filing fraudulent insurance claims for the contents -- including some jewels she had allegedly stolen from another couple while also working as a nanny, according to federal court documents.

The other couple told investigators that an 18-karat gold diamond necklace worth about $4,400 and a gold diamond stud earring worth more than $10,000 had been stolen from them before Forsythe had them appraised last year. The appraisals were then used by Forsythe to make property claims to Nationwide insurance after the fire, federal authorities contend.

On Tuesday, Collier Township police filed theft and receiving stolen property charges based on information recently received by ATF agents, according to a criminal complaint. WPXI-TV first reported the new theft charges on which Forsythe was arraigned Wednesday.

According to the police complaint, the ATF agent told police that Forsythe confessed to stealing earrings from Kunitz's wife, Maureen Kunitz. They were appraised at $11,900 when Kunitz bought them for his wife's birthday sometime before she noticed them missing in September 2003.

Forsythe confessed to the ATF agent and an Allegheny County police detective in December, the complaint said.

Forsythe acknowledged stealing the diamond earrings "while she was acting as nanny and the victim and her husband were not home," the complaint said. After taking the earrings from Maureen Kunitz's bedroom, Forsythe sold a loose diamond from one of the earrings to a jewelry store for $2,542 and the other earring to a precious metals and jewelry store for $1,408.50.

Forsythe faces a preliminary hearing May 11 on the new theft charges. She's still awaiting trial on the federal arson and wire fraud charges.

Forsythe doesn't have a listed home phone, and online court records don't list a defense attorney on the theft charges. Forsythe's public defender on the federal charges didn't respond to a request for comment Friday. Forsythe also didn't respond to messages left on a cellphone and email address listed as hers in a federal search warrant.

Wladimir Klitschko Retains His Crown Against Bryant Jennings

Photo Wladimir Klitschko throwing a punch against Bryant Jennings. Every time I started working, he held me, Jennings said. Credit Jeremy White/The New York Times

At a February news conference promoting his bout with Bryant Jennings, Wladimir Klitschko, the heavyweight champion of the world, invoked an unofficial title often associated with the crown.

As a champion, I have to say that Im the bad man, Klitschko said. The baddest man on the planet.

Despite a win on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, Klitschkos performance did not quite inspire the same fear as some of the previous holders of that title.

Before a reported crowd of 17,056, Klitschko, a Ukrainian heavyweight, prevailed by unanimous decision over Jennings, who is from Philadelphia. It was Klitschkos 18th consecutive heavyweight championship defense, the third highest career total.

The bout featured a number of clinches, and neither man ever appeared seriously hurt.

I was expecting to get the win, to defend my titles, Klitschko said Unfortunately, I didnt defend as impressively as I usually do it.

After three sluggish rounds, the action picked up a bit in the fourth after Klitschko, 39, landed a strong right cross. The two traded punches several times during the round, with Klitschko mostly getting the better of the exchanges.

Klitschko (64-3, 55 knockouts) was able to close in behind a consistent left jab. The punch landed sparingly, but it allowed him to get inside and land the punches he needed to secure the victory.

Jennings is a very good challenger, a very good competitor, Klitschko said after the fight. He would have beaten a number of top heavyweights.

Jennings (19-1, 10 knockouts) had his moments, connecting on some wild hooks in the middle rounds. Ultimately, though, he had trouble landing consistently, despite having a three-inch reach advantage.

Every time I started working, he held me, Jennings said.

He added, I thought the margin should have been closer.

Before the bout, Jennings accused Klitschko of excessively holding his opponents, and in the 10th round the referee, Michael Griffin, deducted a point from Klitschko for doing just that. Even with the deduction, Klitschko prevailed by 116-111 on two scorecards and by 118-109 on a third.

Although he did not get the nod from the judges, Jennings appeared to take some solace in going 12 competitive rounds with the longtime champion.

Even in a loss, they should not praise me, but salute me and show respect, Jennings said, adding, This fight does not penetrate my confidence.

Still, despite all the clinches, Klitschko did enough to defend his title. He landed several strong combinations in the last few rounds to punctuate his victory.

The crowd, largely rooting for Klitschko, seemed satisfied, despite the fact that the action lagged throughout. According to the statistics tracking website CompuBox, Klitschko landed only 144 punches of 545 thrown. Jennings landed 110 of 376.

Klitschkos trainer, Johnathon Banks, blamed Jennings for the low punch output.

He wasnt so offensive today, Banks said of Jennings. Jennings is usually offensive, throws a lot of punches.

It was Klitschkos first fight at Madison Square Garden since February 2008, when he defeated Sultan Ibragimov by unanimous decision in a bout derided by many for its lack of action.

A number of Klitschkos bouts over the years have drawn similar criticism. Klitschko, however, was confident that the match against Jennings would produce more fireworks. Klitschko had been hoping to put on a better show in his return to the Garden.

I could have done it better, he said, visibly frustrated. I couldnt engage in the fight, and I couldnt knock the person out.

I think I can give a lot of answers for all the criticisms and the doubts, Klitschko said. I can deliver a brutal knockout.

Klitschkos trainer, Johnathon Banks, was aware that it was important not only for his man to defeat Jennings but to look good doing it.

Its not about winning and losing right now, Banks said before the fight. All that matters is how you perform.

Aesthetics are important to Klitschko right now, given the emergence of Deontay Wilder, an exciting potential challenger. All but one of Wilders 33 victories have come by knockout. He is considered one of the best American heavyweight prospects in years. Banks, however, is skeptical of the level of competition Wilder has faced.

You cant name five opponents Deontay Wilder has knocked out, Banks said. Hes a big punching guy, but you cant name any of his opponents.

Should Klitschko ever meet Wilder, who watched from ringside on Saturday night, it would give Klitschko an opportunity to post the signature win that many feel has long eluded him. Such a victory would significantly enhance his legacy. Klitschko said after the bout that he would not fight Wilder next but that he hoped to do so early in 2016.

Ukrainian flags were visible throughout the Garden on Saturday night. Klitschko has cited fan support as a reason he wants to keep fighting for as long as he is at his physical peak.

Im enjoying it so much right now, Klitschko said. Every second and every moment. Because maybe it could end.

After his victory Saturday night, the end for Klitschko still appears to be far in the distance.

Clippers Lose to 111-107 to Spurs in OT; Series Tied 1-1

Blake Griffin #32 of the Los Angeles Clippers takes a shot over Tim Duncan #21 of the San Antonio Spurs during the first half of Game Two of the Western Conference quarterfinals of the 2015 NBA Playoffs at Staples Center on April 22, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

The Los Angeles Clippers lost 111-107 in overtime to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 at Staples Center on Wednesday night, leaving the series tied 1-1 as it heads to Texas.

Unlike the opening game of the series, the San Antonio Spurs did not fall behind early on Wednesday night. Instead, the visitors managed to keep a slight lead for most of the opening quarter. Tim Duncan led the way with eight points in the first quarter, and the iconic Spurs' forward would make his first six shots. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich foreshadowed Duncan's fast start during the pregame press conferences.

"[Duncan]'s steadiness, consistency and class really makes everyone look good--that includes the NBA and they know that," Popovich said. "He affects many lives in our community and on our team. He pays my bills."

Along with Duncan, Kawhi Leonard also got off to a hot start with seven points in the opening 12 minutes. Leonard led the Spurs with 18 points in the series opener, but as a whole, the team struggled and only 36.6 percent in that game.

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did not seem to respond well to the questions asked of him after Game 1 against the LA Clippers in the 2015 NBA Playoffs (Published Monday, Apr 20, 2015)

In the first quarter, the Spurs shook off that rust and started the game shooting 55.0 percent, and consequently, they carried a four-point lead into the second period. The Spurs would have held a larger lead, but Chris Paul started the game making four of his first five shots and looked determined to keep his team and crowd in the ball game.

Adding to Paul, Blake Griffin followed up his 26-point performance in Game One with 19 points in the first half of Game Two. Paul and Griffin accounted for 30 of the Clippers' 47 points at the intermission. Including the Clippers' third big star, DeAndre Jordan, the Clippers' top three players accounted for 38 of the Clippers' 47 first-half points.

At that stage, San Antonio led by five points despite shooting only 25 percent from beyond the arc. Duncan's 16 point, three assists and four rebounds had a great deal to do with the Spurs' advantage at halftime. The 38-year-old, whose future in the NBA remains uncertain, looked like he could play another five years at a high level, if he so chose.

In the third quarter, the Spurs finally found their range from distance. After missing eight of nine three-pointers in the second quarter, San Antonio hit three of seven shots from beyond the arc in the third quarter. The Spurs would jump out to a 10-point lead, but the Clippers would fight back and close the deficit to only three points entering the final quarter.

In the final 12 minutes, the Clippers would hit a rough patch of shooting to start the period, and the Spurs would again extend the lead to 10 points nearing the halfway point in the quarter. The home team would respond quickly by cutting the lead to only four points with five minutes to play at Staples Center.

Then, Popovich would choose to intentionally foul Jordan, and the Clippers' center missed his first three foul shots before draining his fourth free throw. With four minutes to play, the Clippers trailed by four points, but the Spurs would opt to foul Jordan again. This time, Jordan would hit both, and the Spurs and Clippers would suddenly be in a one-possession game. The "Hack-a-Jordan" did not appear to be helping the Spurs, as their 10-point lead evaporated.

After a parade to the free throw line, the Clippers would still trail by two points with three minutes to play. However, Manu Ginobili fouled out, and Tony Parker would not play down the stretch due to an Achilles issue. When J.J. Redick his a couple free throws with 2:03 to play, the Clippers and Spurs were level on the scoreboard.

Each team would take turns tasting the lead before Paul had a late look to win the game. His shot did not drop, and the two teams went to overtime.

In the overtime period, Parker's replacement, Patty Mills, starred with eight points, including four clutch free throws, that helped crush the Clippers' late overtime rally. Duncan would manage to play the entire extra period with five fouls. The face of the franchise for nearly two decades finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the game.

For the Clippers, Griffin finished with 29 points, 11 assists and 12 rebounds in 47 minutes, but his late turnovers troubled the forward in his postgame press conference. Griffin finished with five turnovers for the game, including three in the fourth quarter and overtime. Paul would finish with 21 points, seven assists and eight rebounds in 43 minutes, but the point guard dejectedly focused on his missed shot at the end of regulation.

Next, the Clippers and Spurs play Game Three on Friday.

Houston Rockets vs. Dallas Mavericks: Postgame Grades and Analysis

It was surely the most entertaining contest of the series thus far, but in a back-and-forth Game 3, theHouston Rocketswere the ones on a hot streak when the buzzer ran out. Now down in the series three games to none, the Dallas Mavericks face elimination in Game 4 on Sunday.

Houston opened up firing on all cylinders, creating a double-digit lead in the opening minutes, but that was all but erased midway through the second quarter. The Mavericks completes a 20-point turnaround, taking their own double-digit lead before halftime.

The second half featured several lead changes up until the final minutes, and the Mavericks had the opportunity to tie or win the game with 6.7 seconds left in the fourthwhen Monta Ellis bricked a long two-pointer just before the buzzer.

Game Grades at a Glance Monta Ellis A- J.J. Barea B Dirk Nowitzki A Tyson Chandler B- Rest of Team B James Harden A Josh Smith B Corey Brewer B- Dwight Howard A Rest of Team B+

    Bleacher Report

    Dallas Mavericks

    Monta Ellis: A-

After struggling through the series' first two games, Monta Ellis opened Game 3 with the game's first bucket, a three-pointer that seemed to be a confidence boost for the Mavericks' best guard. He racked up 12 points in the first quarter alone and finished with a team-high 34 points.

He was responsible in all facets, including playmaking and on the defensive end, coming away withthree steals, namely a slick interception at the end of the third quarter while Dallas was attempting to steal back the lead.He led the team in assists with nine.

During Dallas' last-ditch effort to take the lead in the final minutes, Ellis connected on a few nice buckets, but left a key finger roll short, giving a possession away to the Rockets, leading to a thunderous Dwight Howard dunk. Rick Carlisle put the ball in Ellis' hands with the game on the line during the final possession, but the Mavericks' top scorer couldn't tack on another field goal to his ledger, missing a long two from straight on, as Dallas fell behind three games to none.

    J.J. Barea: B

J.J. Barea provided an instant lift for Dallas upon entering the game late in the first, when the team was trailing by double-figures. He sank a few fast-break layups and was largely responsible for Dallas' 20-point swing in the first half.

He found Monta Ellis for a crowd-pleasing transition layup soon after entering and knocked down a three-pointer, while logging a team-best plus-22 on the evening.

He tied for the team lead with nine assistsand turned the ball over twice, misfiring a few times on wild, blind drives to the rim. Overall, the Mavs needed him to step up with Rajon Rondo out indefinitely, and the 30-year-old helped the cause.

    Dirk Nowitzki: A

Dirk Nowitzki has posted decent numbers throughout this series, but the 36-year-old, for the most part, has looked very slow, particularly on defense. But Game 3 was a different story.

He missed his first three attempts from beyond the arc, starting off 1-of-5 overall, but improved to 50 percent shooting by halftime and wrapped up with 34 pointstied with Monta Ellis for the team-highto go along with eight rebounds on 10-of-19 shooting.

His gained his touch after that slow start, nailing a number of mid-range jumpers while the Mavs were trailing in the closing minutes. He cut the lead to five with 2:30 left in the game with his fourth three-pointer, then found Monta Ellis on a handoff during the following possession, when Dallas cut it to three.

He grabbed a key rebound to set up a huge Mavs possession with just over a minute remaining, where he drilled a pair of free throws to make the Houston lead a single point. The team couldn't convert on its final possession, where Dirk didn't even touch the ball, and now face elimination via a sweep on Sunday.

    Tyson Chandler: B-

Much like his days with the New York Knicks, Tyson Chandler's defensive impact was hardly tangible during Game 3, in a lineup filled with porous defenders. The Mavs allowed 42 points in the first quarter alone, 65 in the first half and 130 in the game. Luckily, the Rockets weren't competing much on that end, either.

Dallas opened up lazy with the ball, turning it over four times in the first few sequences, one of which was Chandler stepping on the baseline before throwing down a vicious slam. Tyson's numbers weren't gaudy, posting eight boards and eight points over 33 minutes, but without him, the Mavs wouldn't have stood a chance on the inside.

On the defensive boards though, Chandler was vastly outworked by Dwight Howard. Howard pulled down 11 boards off his own glass, while Chandler logged just two defensive rebounds.

    Rest of Team: B

Al-Faouq Aminu came up with a crucial block in the third quarter, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, two steals and two swats.Amar'e Stoudemire didn't log many minutesjust 14but was an efficient scorer, going for eight points to go along with four boards.

Raymond Felton got the start at point, but was pretty much invisible, going scoreless on three shots and dishing a single assist. Devin Harris teamed with Barea to handle most of the point duties, scoring 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting.

    Houston Rockets

    James Harden: A

While the Rockets attempted to march back after the second quarter, James Harden was the sole consistent scoring force. He sank 10 of his first 14 shots, outscoring the Mavericks team through most of the third quarter.

It took him most of the fourth quarter to heat back up, after sitting through the first several minutes of it, but he converted a thrilling and-one to extend Houston's lead back to two possessions in the final minuteit gave him his 40th point, his highest-ever playoff output.

He committed a potentially costly foul on Dirk Nowitzki, resulting in three free throws with 33.8 seconds left. The lead was eventually down to two with just seconds left, but the Mavericks weren't able to capitalize on Harden's error.

He had 42 points in the game to go with a team-high nine assists on 15-of-24 shooting. In the NBA playoffs, the team with a more dominant scoring force typically wins out. Harden and the Rockets proved that tonight.

    Josh Smith: B

Josh Smith made a number of huge shots for Houston in the second half, ranging from crowd-silencing dunks to long-range three-pointers. Hefinished with 18 points, second on the team only to Harden.

He was responsible for a nifty outlet pass to Corey Brewer in the fourth to extend the Rockets' tight lead to sevenone of his four assists on the night.

Rick Carlisle attempted to slow the game in the fourth quarter and intentionally foul Smith, a horrid free-throw shooter, but the 49.8 percent foul shooter connected on two of his three attempts.

    Corey Brewer: B-

Off the bench, Corey Brewer provided Houston with a spark by drilling a few three-pointers in the second half. He finished with twotriples and 15 points altogether.

He was responsible for a leak-out transition bucket off a good outlet from Josh Smith. At the foul line with seven seconds left and the opportunity to extend the lead to three, he split his pair, giving the Mavs the opportunity to tie or win the game on a final possession. Fortunately for Brewer and the Rockets, Monta Ellis missed the game's final attempt.

    Dwight Howard: A-

When Dwight Howard is healthy, the ways he can impact a game are extraordinary. He racked up 14 rebounds before the halftime buzzer sounded, and finished with 26boardshis most since April 2009and 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

He and former AAU teammate Josh Smith were the team's focal points early in the fourth with Harden resting, finding each other for flashy jams and swoops to the hoop.

He rendered Tyson Chandler irrelevant while Houston was on the offensive glass, tearing down 11 boards to Chandler's two on that end.

    Rest of Team: B+

A total of six Rockets finished in double-figure scoring, including Trevor Ariza, who had 13 on 5-of-12 shooting. Terrence Jones had 12 points and six boards, and Clint Capela added seven in six minutes.

Pablo Prigioni had just three points, but facilitated well while spacing the floor for Houston's more prominent weapons. He had three assists.

    Up Next

After a much more competitive contest than the first two games in the series, it was the same result for Dallas, who now faces a sweep Sunday on its home floor.

Their desire and battle Friday showed they can compete with Houston in spurtsand they may be a more cohesive group without Rajon Rondo. There's always the possibility of a team taking a game at home, but this series certainly seems out of reach for the Mavs now.

Game 4 is on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

Movie capsules: "5 to 7," "The Age of Adaline," "Ex Machina" opening this week

Compiled from El Paso Times staff and wire reports. Listings are subject to change.

    Opening this week

"5 to 7" (R): A chance encounter on the streets of Manhattan draws 20-something aspiring writer Brian (Anton Yelchin) into a passionate love affair with a glamorous French woman (Skyfall Bond girl Brnice Marlohe). The catch? She's married.

"The Age of Adaline" (PG-13): After miraculously remaining 29 years old for almost eight decades, Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has lived a solitary existence, never allowing herself to get close to anyone who might reveal her secret. (No review)

"Ex Machina" (R): Domhnall Gleeson ("Frank") is Caleb, a top-notch computer coder who has been summoned to the remote Norwegian retreat of his reclusive search engine mogul boss. Nathan (Oscar Isaac, "Inside Llewyn Davis") is a little eccentric, a genius who lives alone, save for a silent Japanese servant (Sonoya Mizuno) in a bunker of a house in a sylvan, mountain setting. "Ex Machina" a cerebral, chilling and austere thriller that stokes our fears about digital privacy and artificial intelligence, a film that works largely thanks to a breakout mechanically empathetic turn by Alicia Vikander ("A Royal Affair,""Seventh Son").

"Little Boy" (PG-13): A film about a little boy (Jakob Salvati) who is willing to do whatever it takes to bring his dad (Michael Rapaport) home from World War II alive. Written and directed by Smithsonian Institute Award winning director Alejandro Monteverde, the film highlights themes of faith, hope and love in the face of adversity.

"Merchants of Doubt" (PG-13): This documentary, the first to zero in on how and why the global climate change discussion became political and how that led to government gridlock, is an account of the train wreck and how it happened, and continues to happen.

"Seymour: An Introduction" (PG): Ethan Hawke's documentary on pianist Seymour Bernstein is very much like the sonatas the 87-year-old plays so beautifully, teaches so insightfully quietly moving, infinitely deep. Ethan Hawke's documentary on pianist Seymour Bernstein is very much like the sonatas the 87-year-old plays so beautifully, teaches so insightfully quietly moving, infinitely deep. With "Seymour," the actor is making his documentary directing debut, a modest but affecting one. The film is most alive when Bernstein is in front of the piano, a marvel to watch teaching a master class. And when the great man quietly takes his seat in front of a small audience to play again in public, the moment is so magical, the music so expressive, you don't want it to end.

"A La Mala" (PG-13): "A la Mala" is a Mexican romantic comedy in the "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days/Failure to Launch/40 Days and 40 Nights" mold. Change the language to English, switch the starlet to Olivia Wilde, or this year's Olivia Wilde, and you've got a rom-com as shiny, shallow and cliched as anything Hollywood has turned out over the past dozen years.

"American Sniper" (R): Bradley Cooper pushes his craft to new extremes to portray Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in American history, but Clint Eastwood's film takes too long to ask if that title is a badge of honor.

"Child 44" (R): A politically-charged serial killer thriller set in 1953 Soviet Russia, CHILD 44 chronicles the crisis of conscience for secret police agent Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy), who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa (Noomi Rapace), as a traitor. (No review)

"Cinderella" (PG): Director Kenneth Branagh delivers a lovely corpse of a fairytale, not helped by a blandly pretty lead (Lily James) and even blander Prince Charming (Richard Madden).

"Danny Collins" (R): Al Pacino stars as aging 1970s rocker Danny Collins, who can't give up his hard-living ways. But when his manager (Christopher Plummer) uncovers a 40 year-old undelivered letter written to him by John Lennon, he decides to change course and embarks on a heartfelt journey to rediscover his family, find true love and begin a second act.

"The Divergent Series: Insurgent" (PG-13): It's action-packed in the extreme, as Young Heroine Triss (Shailene Woodely) and "Dauntless" hunk Four (Theo James) run from the armed, motorized thugs that the smug Erudite elitists send after them, with barely time for a betrayal, a moment of weakness and a break for Shailene Woodley to pile on more makeup and lip gloss.

"Do You Believe?" (PG-13): When a local pastor is shaken to the core by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, he is reminded that true belief always requires action. His response ignites a faith-fueled journey that powerfully impacts everyone it touches in ways that only G*d could orchestrate.

"Furious 7" (PG-13): Continuing the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and the late Paul Walker lead the returning cast of the "Fast & Furious" franchise. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series that also welcomes back favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black.

"Get Hard" (R): Kevin Hart finds himself shoehorned into a Will Ferrell buddy comedy in "Get Hard," a politically incorrect romp that only rarely romps. Ferrell is as fearless as ever, stripping down and looking foolish, willing to be out-of-touch and out of step. Hart has his manic moments. But in this buddy comedy, the buddies are not equal and that limits the laughs.

"Home" (PG): An alien on the run from his own people, lands on Earth and makes friends with the adventurous cat, Tip (Rihanna), who is on a quest of her own in this animated film. (No review)

"It Follows" (R): A few genuinely (and literally) hair-raising moments, a few knowing winks and a lot to think about lift "It Follows" above the horror pack. s*x, its consequences and a teenager actually grappling, in advance, with those consequences make this that rarest of rarities, a smart "dead teenager movie."

"The Longest Ride" (PG-13): Based on the bestselling novel by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, "The Longest Ride" centers on the star-crossed love affair between Luke (Scott Eastwood), a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia (Brittany Robertson), a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City's art world.

"Monkey Kingdom" (G): Mark Linfield's nature documentary follows the struggles of a young monkey mother to care for and raise her new baby in the wilds of Southern Asia.

"Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" (PG): After six years of keeping our malls safe, Paul Blart has earned a well-deserved vacation. He heads to Vegas with his teenage daughter before she heads off to college. But safety never takes a holiday and when duty calls, Blart answers.

"True Story" (R): When disgraced New York Times reporter Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill) meets accused killer Christian Longo (James Franco) - who has taken on Finkel's identity - his investigation morphs into an unforgettable game of cat-and-mouse. Based on actual events. (No review)

"Unfriended" (R): Unfriended unfolds over a teenager's computer screen as she and her friends are stalked by an unseen figure who seeks vengeance for a shaming video that led a vicious bully to kill herself a year earlier. (No review)

"While We're Young" (R): Ben Stiller plays a creatively blocked, once-hip documentary film producer in director Noah Bombach's biting and bitterly amusing movie about a childless New York couple who gravitate toward a young hipster couple (Adam Driver, Amanda Seyfried) as their other friends all start having children.

"Woman in Gold" (PG-13): A very good story meekly told. It's a dramatization of one woman's mission (Hellen Mirren) to recover the art looted from one Jewish family by the Nazis, rendered here in mostly flat tones and trite dialogue. This is passable as history, but the climax is so anti-climactic that this "Woman in Gold" never merits more than a bronze medal.

    Discount movies

"Black or White" (PG-13): "Selma" wasn't the only film about race to get short shrift from Oscar voters this past year. "Black or White" is a frank, touching and very well-acted melodrama about child custody and cultural perceptions of "blackness" and "the race card," and could have earned Octavia Spencer and Kevin Costner fresh Oscar nominations.

"The Boy Next Door" (R): Universal's "The Boy Next Door" is almost so bad it's good. Well, at least "bad." A risible stalker thriller predicated on the absurd notion that Jennifer Lopez is still a movie star, it's "Fatal Attraction" without the rabbit. And mostly without the fear. Ryan Guzman of the later "Step Up" movies is the man candy who moves in next door to an about-to-divorce suburban school teacher Claire (Lopez) and her shy, allergy-riddled teenage boy, Kevin (Ian Nelson). John Corbett is the not quite still-in-the-picture ex having a middle-age crisis cliche.

"Chappie" (R): "Chappie" is a childish blend of the cute robot goofiness of "Short Circuit," and the b****y-minded mayhem of "Robocop." It never finds its sweet spot and never, for one moment, works.

"The DUFF" (PG-13): Mae Whitman sasses, sashays and sparkles in "The DUFF," a snappy, sweet-spirited teen comedy about a smart girl who tries to fight high school labeling with wit and words. It's a paint-by-numbers romantic comedy. But Whitman clicks with her co-stars and handles the screenplay's zingers and the droll voice-over narration her character spouts in this feature from director Ari "West Bank Story" Sandel.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" (R): The unsexiest s*x movie since "Eyes Wide Shut" features an utterly colorless leading man (Jamie Dorman) paired with a nubile heat-deprived leading lady (Dakota Johnson). Clinical as a classroom lecture, it's a limp sadomasochism primer, which explains both the runaway success of the E.L. James' novel and the startling pre-opening sales stats from America's Promise Keepers belt.

"Focus" (R): Chemistry, or the lack of it, burns a big hole in this supposedly romantic, unconvincingly tense, feebly comical caper picture from the guys who gave us "I Love You, Phillip Morris," Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.

"The Gunman" (R): A sniper on a mercenary assassination team (Sean Penn), kills the minister of mines of the Congo. His's successful kill shot forces him into hiding. Returning to the Congo years later, he becomes the target of a hit squad himself. (No review)

"The Lazarus Effect" (PG-13): This horror flick follows a group of researchers led by Frank (Mark Duplass) and his fiance Zoe (Olivia Wilde,) who've achieved the unimaginable bringing the dead back to life. (No review)

"Paddington" (PG): Bright, breezy and stripped of most children's movie conventions, "Paddington" drags the classic bear into the 21st century, modernizing aspects of Michael Bond's trouble-prone creation in the process.

"Run All Night" (NR): Starring Liam Neeson, as an alcoholic retired hit man, and Ed Harris as his friend, his boss and his brother-in-arms, there are plenty of pleasures in watching these old pros playing old men of the mob wars trying to summon a young man's bravado for the dirty job each must do.

"The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water" (PG): Spongebob Squarepants goes where Homer Simpson and others have gone before, an animated character who steps out of his colorful 2D world and into our 3D one, in "The Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of Water." But what his movie lacks in originality or freshness it compensates for in loopiness.

"Unfinished Business": A hard-working small business owner (Vince Vaughn) and his two associates (Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco) travel to Europe to close the most important deal of their lives. But what began as a routine business trip goes off the rails.
