Razer made quite a splash at this years CES when it unveiled its Blade Stealth Ultrabook gaming notebook, so its perhaps no surprise that it has not wasted time in making the device available for purchase. You can now buy the slimline, portable gaming machine for as little as $1,000, with orders expected to begin shipping by the end of the month.
Its certainly worth considering if youre in the market for a new, lightweight laptop with a lot of oomf. At just 2.75 pounds, this is far lighter than your average gaming Ultrabook and it packs a Core i7-CPU too, so it is very capable when it comes to general computing.
It also has 8GB of LPDDR3 memory and up to 512GB of M.2 SSD storage, though you can pick a 256 or 128GB model for a slightly reduced price tag. There are also options for the display, with choices includinga QHD 2,560 x 1,440 display, or a higher-end UHD 3,840 x 2,160 alternative.
Related:Razers new Blade Stealth has a powerful sidekick
The only potential issue here for a gaming laptop is that this system uses Intel 520 HD graphics. The gamers among us are likely turning their noses up and looking away, but hold fire. Razers idea with the Blade Stealth is that its powerful, but lightweight on the move, and when you fancy doing some gaming you sit down next to your Razer Core and off you go.
The Razer Core is a separate product, which admittedly isnt available yet, but it will be soon. What the Core does is let you plug in an external graphics card (inside the Core enclosure) into your Blade Stealth using the USBType-C port, which is capable of monstrous bandwidth. That lets you offload a 3D rendering to the external hardware, keeping the Ultrabook free from the power drain of whatever GPU you choose to put in there, as well as cutting back on weight and size.
The only downside of course is that if you do buy yourself a Blade Stealth it wont be that gaming-capable when released on January 29. It will be in the future, though, if you pick up a desktop GPU and a Core. Whether this is a success will really depend on the price of that external enclosure.
Charlotte Hornets vs Golden State Warriors - Full Game Highlights | Jan 4, 2016 | NBA 2015-16 Season
DENVER -- Stephen Curry let out long sighs after a game the Warriors felt they should have won even without Draymond Green.
Curry had scored 38 points, 20 of which came in a fourth-quarter comeback attempt that ultimately failed in a 112-110 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
The Nuggets prevailed despite Curry catching fire late and Klay Thompson getting a potential game-winning 3-point attempt that fell short before the final buzzer.
"We showed a lot of fight and aggressiveness down the stretch," Curry said. "We just spotted them too many points."
Green sat out the game in order to rest an ankle that has given him discomfort for more than two weeks, and his absence undoubtedly had something to do with the Warriors" woes on defense.

Out-rebounded and unable to get stops in crunchtime, the Warriors fell to 36-3 and suffered a rare setback that snapped their seven-game winning streak.
Danilo Gallinari led the Nuggets with 28 points, going 17 for 19 from the free throw line on a night when the Warriors totaled 20 free throws.
"I"m sure he would have loved to get some cracks at Gallinari," Curry said of Green.
Curry hit a 33-foot 3-pointer with under a minute left to pull the Warriors to within two points.
Later with a chance to tie the score or give the Warriors the lead, Curry mishandled the ball for his eighth turnover. Gallinari stole it, leading to two Gary Harris free throws to give Denver a 111-107 lead with 5.4 seconds left.
Still, the Warriors would not die then and there. Thompson hit a 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds left, and Gallinari missed one of two free throws on the other end to give the Warriors one final chance.
But with only 1.8 seconds to work with and the Warriors forced to go away from Curry as their first option, Thompson"s shot went off the front of the rim.
"A wake-up call a little bit," Thompson, who finished with 17 points, said of the loss.
"It does not feel good."
Harrison Barnes added 18 points off the bench in his most productive performance since coming back from a sprained ankle.
But the Warriors would have liked a better start, as the Nuggets led for most of the game. Denver had 10-point leads in the first and headed into the fourth. Curry struggled with his shooting before heating up in the fourth. The Warriors started Jason Thompson in place of Green, whose fire and versatility on defense were missed dearly.
"We"ve got to play at that same intensity for 48 minutes like we did in the last four to five minutes. If we do that, we"re the hardest team to beat in this league," Klay Thompson said.

Said Warriors interim coach Luke Walton: "For a championship team and for what we are trying to accomplish, we didn"t play hard enough and we definitely didn"t play smart enough for the majority of the game."
The Warriors could be missing Green once again on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers. He conceded that he needed the rest against the Nuggets.
"I wanted to fight it, but my body wouldn"t let me," Green said.
"I"m pretty beat up right now."
Green had been the only Warriors starter to play every game, and he leads the team averaging 34.9 minutes per game -- a number that increased while Barnes was out of action.
"With a big road trip coming up and a tough stretch here at the end of the month, we just figure it"s better to give him a little bit of rest and try to keep him healthy," Walton said.
"It"s something where he could play, but with the amount of minutes he"s been playing and -- I won"t call them injuries -- some nagging pain, it"s just better we feel like to give him the night off here."
The Warriors did get Leandro Barbosa back in action after he missed nine games with a sprained shoulder.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Ben McAdoo has been named the New York Giants coach.
The Giants confirmed the hiring on Thursday, a little more than a week after Tom Coughlin stepped down after 12 seasons.
The 38-year-old McAdoo has been the Giants offensive coordinator the past two seasons. He will formally be introduced at a news conference on Friday morning.
McAdoo interviewed with team president John Mara and general manager Jerry Reese a week ago Tuesday. They met again Wednesday, when he also spoke with team chairman Steve Tisch and treasurer Jonathan Tisch.
Mara and Reese interviewed five other candidates before choosing McAdo, who is now the NFL"s second youngest coach.
"We were all impressed with his energy, his enthusiasm, his vision and his desire," Mara said. "Ben has been preparing for this opportunity since he started coaching, and he has earned his stripes every step of the way. Some have suggested he may not be ready, and as I said last week, we want a coach who feels like he has something to prove."
The Giants have something to prove. They have missed the playoffs the past four seasons, and posted losing records the past three seasons, going 6-10 the past two years.
McAdoo"s offense has been one of the few bright spots for the team.
Under his leadership, Eli Manning threw 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions the past two seasons. He had 18 touchdowns and 27 interceptions in 2013.
"I have been preparing for this moment my entire professional life, and without the guidance and support of many people, I would not be here right now," McAdoo said.
The Giants" 420 points was the fifth-highest total in franchise history, and their 5,952 net yards was the third-highest total. They set franchise records for pass attempts (623), completions (392), and their 36 touchdown passes were the second-highest total in Giants" history.
"I"m excited for the Giants organization and for the team. I think Coach McAdoo is a great coach, a great teacher, and will be a great leader of this team," said Manning, who voiced his support for McAdoo after the season. "I"m excited to continue to work with him and grow within this offense, and get this organization back where it needs to be."
McAdoo joined the NFL in 2004 as an offensive quality control assistant with the New Orleans Saints, spent a year with the 49ers the following year and then joined the Green Bay Packers for the next eight seasons, working with the tight ends and the final two years as Aaron Rodgers" quarterback coach.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy remembers meeting McAdoo at an NFL combine in Indianapolis when McAdoo was a lower-level coach.
"I was the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints and he had called me on the phone, was seeking an opportunity just to talk football," McCarthy said. "We talked on the phone that evening and then the next day at lunch, when I was coming back from the workouts at the combine, Ben was sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for me. He drove all night just for an opportunity to sit down and talk football."
The Giants hired McAdoo in 2014 to replace Kevin Gilbride. His version of the West Coast offense and the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. has helped revive the offense.
Now he is being asked to revive a team that won two Super Bowls under Coughlin before falling on hard times.
McAdoo also impressed the Philadelphia Eagles when he interviewed for their coaching vacancy.
It is not clear whether defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who also interviewed for the head coaching job, will return.
McAdoo learned under Coughlin and has shown some of his mentor"s attitudes. He"s not afraid to gamble.
In the season opener against Dallas this past season, he went for the win, calling a pass play on third down in the red zone in the closing minutes.
A touchdown would have iced the game. Instead, Manning made a mistake throwing the ball away and that stopped the clock. New York kicked a field goal to take a six-point lead but the extra time allowed Dallas to come back and win the game.
That aggressive play calling, though, is part of McAdoo"s game. He isn"t afraid to put the game in the offense"s hands.
"Excited for Coach McAdoo," cornerback Prince Amukama said in a text to The Associated Press. "I figured him or Spagz would have been a great pick. I"m sure his players and the fans are all excited."

MUNFORD, Tenn. -- An eye-popping and unprecedented Powerball jackpot whose rise to $1.6 billion became a national fascination will be split three ways.
The winners" identities remain a mystery, but they bought their tickets in Florida, Tennessee and a Los Angeles suburb where even lottery losers were celebrating Thursday that such heady riches were won in their modest city.
The winners of the world-record jackpot overcame odds of 1 in 292.2 million to land on the numbers drawn Wednesday night, 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10. They can take the winnings in annual payments spread over decades or a smaller amount in a lump sum.
The California ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, California, lottery spokesman Alex Traverso said. The winning Florida ticket was sold at a Publix grocery store in Melbourne Beach. The winning ticket in Tennessee was sold in Munford, north of Memphis, according to a statement from lottery officials in that state.
Three Munford stores offer Powerball tickets, but it wasn"t clear Thursday morning which retailer had sold the winning ticket and would get a $25,000 check. Tennessee lottery officials said they were headed to the winning store to make a presentation.
A significant media presence hit the small city - population just under 5,000 - as TV trucks from Memphis parked at the three stores. At a McDonald"s, local residents chatted about the ticket over coffee and biscuits, theorizing where it was purchased and what they would have done with the money.
Auto body shop worker Jerry Caudle said he was "freaking out" when he heard a winning ticket was sold in his town, but it turned out he matched only two numbers, for a prize of $14. He left the Munford Short Stop gas station and convenience store with a smile, but said the jackpot would have helped him - the auto body business wasn"t good in 2015.
"It"s been tough," he said. "The hardest winter for me here in 17 years."
The California store and its surrounding strip mall immediately became a popular gathering spot in the usually quiet suburb of 75,000 people. Hundreds of people, from news crews to gawkers, crowded the store and spilled into its parking lot.
They cheered and mugged for TV cameras as if it were New Year"s Eve or a sporting event. Many chanted, "Chino Hills! Chino Hills!" in celebration of the city.
"It"s history. We"re all so excited for our city," Rita Talwar, 52, who has lived in Chino Hills for 30 years, told the local newspaper, the San Bernardino Sun.
Some took selfies with the store clerk on duty, who became an instant celebrity and may well have been the man who sold the ticket after being on duty for much of the run-up to Wednesday night"s drawing.
"I"m very proud that the ticket was sold here," the clerk, M. Faroqui, told the Sun. "I"m very happy. This is very exciting."
7-Eleven store clerk M. Faroqui celebrates after learning a winning Powerball ticket was sold where he works in Chino Hills, California, on Jan. 13, 2016.
REUTERS
The store owner, Balbir Atwal, told CBS News correspondent Mireya Villarreal he couldn"t believe that his store sold one of the winning tickets.
"I was watching TV, my store show up," Faroqui told Villarreal. "I said, "Hey! That"s my store.""
Atwal was awarded $1 million by the California State Lottery on Thursday.
Atwal is an Indian man who came to the United States in 1981. He previously worked as a salesman for an electronics company and decided he wanted to start his own business. So at age 27, he bought his first 7-Eleven. He now owns four stores. The one in Chino Hills, where the winning ticket was sold, was the third franchise he purchased and he has owned it for 24 years.
The other winning jackpot tickets were sold in Florida and Tennessee.
Chino Hills has 78,000 residents and Mayor Art Bennett describes the city as a rural-style suburb where cows can be seen grazing on hillsides. He says it would be hard to find anything else that has generated this much public interest in the city.
No details were immediately available about the Florida winner.
The estimated jackpot amounts had risen steadily since Nov. 4, when it was reset at $40 million. Texas Lottery executive director Gary Grief has said this Powerball offered "absolutely" the world"s biggest jackpot.
Not that there aren"t large jackpots elsewhere. Spain"s massively popular Christmas lottery, known as "El Gordo," is ranked as the world"s richest, though it doles out a single jackpot among millions of prizes, instead of one large jackpot like the Powerball. El Gordo last month showered 2.2 billion euros ($2.4 billion) across the country.
Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, as well as the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
But residents in the six states that don"t participate found ways to get their hands on tickets. Some of the biggest Powerball sales have come from cities bordering states that don"t sell the tickets, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association. The association oversees the Powerball Lottery, but management rotates annually among member states.

Olympic Skiier Picabo Street Arrested for Assault of Family Member
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Olympic gold-medalist skier Picabo Street has been charged with assault and domestic violence after authorities say she pushed her father down the stairs in a Utah home in December.Street told police she locked her 76-year-old father in the basement of a Park City house after pushing him and then called authorities, according to charging documents released Wednesday. She says her father, Roland Street, pulled her hair in the Dec. 23 fight at a house near Park City that police say Street"s three children witnessed.Roland Street told police his daughter got angry and started yelling after he bumped his car into the house while trying to leave, documents show. When the two went inside the house, a physical altercation broke out.He says his daughter grabbed him in the shoulder and neck area and pushed him down two flights of stairs. He said he may have hit his head. Police observed cuts on Roland Street"s elbow and neck.Picabo Street, 44, was arrested and bailed out. She was charged by prosecutors about two weeks later with three counts of misdemeanor domestic violence in the presence of a child and one count of misdemeanor assault. Her attorney, Jason Richards, said she denies any wrongdoing in what she considers a private family matter. He said Picabo Street is hopeful an "amicable resolution" can be reached.Summit County prosecutor Ivy Telles said she"s prepared to discuss a possible plea deal to resolve the case, but that the two sides haven"t begun negotiations. The next scheduled hearing is on Feb. 16 in a Park City court. The highlight of Picabo Street"s illustrious skiing career came when she won a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in the women"s super-G event. She also won silver in the downhill at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, and competed in the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. She was first American woman to win the World Cup downhill season title in 1995, and repeated as champion the next season.
