Manchester City put together one of their best performances of the season on Saturday, easily disposing of Crystal Palace to temporarily move into first place in the standings. Leicester City later drew with Aston Villa, 1-1.
Sergio Aguero is returning to his best form and showed it against the Eagles, scoring a brace and handing an assist to David Silva. Fabian Delph had opened the scoring before Aguero hit twice to put Crystal Palace away.
His contributions for the final goal really stood out, however, showing an incredible turn of pace before selflessly laying it off for Silva.
Karl Matchett of Bleacher Report UK was impressed:
The Citizens never had to play their best football, as Crystal Palace barely put up a challenge, but manager Manuel Pellegrini will undoubtedly be happy with his team"s performance. With the likes of Delph and Pablo Zabaleta also impressing, City look to be rounding into form at a crucial time.
Not everything went perfect on Saturday, however, as Aleksandar Kolarov left the pitch on a stretcher. While it"s unclear how severe his injury was, it would be a major blow to City"s title chances if he were to miss a significant amount of time.
Chelsea and Everton were involved in one of the best and worst halves of football you"ll ever see, producing little of note during the first 45 minutes of their 3-3 draw before exploding after the break.
John Terry opened the scoring with an own-goal and redeemed himself late with the equaliser in the 98th minute, although the late strike came with lots of controversy.
As shared by Everton FC News, he was more than just a little offside:
The Toffees should have put the match away when Kevin Mirallas handed them a 2-0 lead, but in two minutes, Chelsea pulled level. Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas took care of the scoring and set up a nervy finish, where Ramiro Funes Mori was sure he had found the winner until Terry"s last-minute heroics.
In the standings, Everton remain outside of the top 10, as they were unable to take advantage of Crystal Palace"s loss. The Toffees are still in the race for a UEFA Europa League ticket, but they need to start winning matches with some consistency fast.
Chelsea still sit just six points above the relegation zone, and at this point, obtaining even a Europa League place will prove challenging.
Christian Eriksen scored twice to guide Spurs past Sunderland, with Mousa Dembele and Harry Kane also finding the net. Patrick van Aanholt had given the visitors the lead, but Tottenham showed lots of maturity to battle their way back and continue their fine run.
Per the club"s official Twitter account, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was understandably happy with the result:
Tottenham"s great stretch of results hit a speed bump last week with the loss against Leicester City, but it seems that match was nothing but a hiccup, as the team looked just fine against Sunderland. With West Ham dropping a result against Newcastle, the road to a top-four finish suddenly looks wide open for Spurs.
Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum gave the hosts a shock two-goal lead inside 15 minutes, and the Hammers were unable to pull it back, despite Nikica Jelavic"s goal early in the second half.
Adam Driver spent a good part of his Saturday Night Live appearance channeling the dour and unstable Kylo Ren, but his hosting stint also allowed him to tap into a more exuberant persona, as TV show host and cat video narrator Finn Raynal-Beads Reynolds.
As the host of Americas Funniest Cats, Driver describes cat videos with goofy voices and sound effects, but his cheerful narrations quickly take a turn for the gloomy, as the two hosts from the French version of the show stop by to participate. Joelle LaRue (Cecily Strong) and Noelle LeSoup (Kate McKinnon) arent quite as ebullient as their American counterpart, and their idea of cat comedy is a little more nihilistic.
This cat has seconds to live, Strong says of one video. She purposely cut off her oxygen.
This life is too much to bear, McKinnon adds. She is quietly backing out of this world.

Tre Boston"s mom Iris De Hoyos talks about his football career. Boston is a former North Fort Myers star that now plays for the Carolina Panthers. Video by Amanda Inscore and Craig Handel/news-press.com.

Carolina football player Tre Boston and his mom Iris De Hoyos felt it took awhile for the media and fans across the country to realize how good the Panthers could be this season.
We dont mind that, said Boston, a safety. We actually like it.
Sunday, the Panthers (15-1) will have their chance to show how good they are when theyll entertain the two-time NFC defending champion Seattle Seahawks (11-6) on Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
I knew they were for real, but they have continually had to prove themselves, De Hoyos said. Deion Sanders stayed loyal to the area and said things about Tre and the Panthers, but commentators, social media and sports networks were not believing.
But they dont need to believe. The fans do and the team does.
Boston, 23 and a North Fort Myers High graduate like Sanders, is in his second season with the Panthers. In seven starts, he has 29 tackles.
His mother who has rearedhim as a single parent works for the county in the 20th judicial circuit court. Shell make her ninth visit for Panthers games and its the first flight he has paid for. She said Boston has offered countless times to buy her flights and other things but she has refused. However, she keeps a close eye on his expenses after seeing how other pro athletes have frittered away their contracts and bonuses.
The NFL stands for "not for long", she said, well aware the average NFL career is less than 3 years. We know what its like to go through hard times.
Im proud of him and Im glad hes watching his money. When we went shopping, he pulled out his phone when he saw something he wanted to buy. He asked if a coupon he saw still worked.

Last season, the Panthers started 3-8-1 before winning their last four games to qualify for the playoffs, then beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-16 in the first round before falling to the Seahawks 31-17.
This season, the Panthers won in Seattle 27-23 on Oct. 18 as they started 14-0.
We have a great foundation, but when youre building stuff, it doesnt always go according to plans, Boston said. There are bumps in the road. We didnt have everything installed and we werent clicking on the right points. This year, we came back clicking. We got better and better each day and stayed humble and hungry.
Last year we just wanted to get to the playoffs. This year, we just didnt want to get to the playoffs. We wanted to set that foundation.
The Panthers are led by quarterback Cam Newton, who likely will be the NFL MVP. He passed for 3,837 yards with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while he added another 636 yards rushing and 10 TDs.
He has done this despite losing top receiver Kelvin Benjamin before the season began.
Every year he has developed as a leader and every year gets better, Boston said. His pocket presence. This year hes killed people with his arm. Hes always been dangerous in the pocket.
He made a play against the Saints where he threw across the field with that throwing motion the other way. Its amazing. We said, Wow, how did he make that throw? Hes a freak of nature.
Newton also has gotten players to choreograph his dab, which is his touchdown celebration.
Its not only us, its the world right now, Boston said.
While thoroughly enjoying this season, De Hoyos said it has been exhausting with the 11-hour drives. One time, she attended a 1 p.m. game, left, then arrived home at 3:48 a.m., showered, ate, then arrived at work before 5 a.m.
However, she loves the camaraderie with the players wives and mothers. She also loves the atmosphere.
The fans are more hyped now, she said. When you go to the stadium, you can hardly hear. Its loud and proud. Theyre fun and they make you smile. The most amazing game was against the Colts. It poured down the whole game. Its cold. Nobody left.
I love seeing my son fulfill his dreams. Its the most amazing feeling.

Three weeks ago, the Cardinals beat the Packers by 30 points. But weve seen this postseason movie before; six days ago, a 31-point regular-season deficit between the Seahawks and Vikings ended up being a one-win escape for Seattle.
And thats the best sales job I can do for Saturday nights game. Other than to say: (1) its the playoffs; (2) Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has never won a playoff game; and (3) the Packers may have turned things around with a win on Sunday in Washington, even though they beat a team that had no business being in the postseason. (Sorry, Jay, but its true.)
You can watch the game on NBC. Or, if you dont have access to a TV, you can dial it up onNBC Sports Live Extra. You also can watch the game by downloading the NBC Sports Live Extra app.
Whatever you do, watch the game. Its the last one of the year for NBC.
Kobe congratulates Ben Wallace on jersey retirement
Ryan Van Dusen 10 hours agoDetroit Pistons
Really, there was only one way to welcome Ben Wallace back to the Palace on Saturday evening, and to the credit of all those involved, the Pistons delivered.
As the house lights went down at halftime of Detroit"s 113-95 victory over the Golden State Warriors, a familiar synth riff reverberated throughout the arena. And then, well, you should know the rest:
Ah yes, just like old times:
