LAPD: Knife Found On OJ Simpson’s Former Property | Andrea Mitchell | MSNBC
Once again, a crazy story revolving around the O.J. Simpson Murder has emerged. As reported by TMZ, aconstruction worker found a knife buried on the perimeter of the former O.J. Simpson Estateestate several years ago and turned it into a LAPD officer he saw on the street.
The knife is a folding buck knife.
Sources within LAPD told TMZ that the officer who worked in the traffic division was off duty at the time, working security for a movie shoot at a house across the street on Rockingham. The officer took the knife home and kept it.
In late January of this year, after the officer retired, he contacted a friend who worked in LAPDs Robbery Homicide Division. The officer told the friend about the knife and said he was getting it framed to put on his wall. He wanted his friend to get the DR (Departmental Record) number for the Nicole Brown Simpson/Ronald Goldman murder case, which he planned on engraving in the frame.
The friend was indignant, and told his superiors. The brass was outraged and demanded that the retired officer turn the knife over, which he did.
Sources say the knife is currently being tested for hair and fingerprints. It will be moved to the Serology Unit next week, where it will be tested for DNA and other biological evidence.
Despite great hopes at the start of the season, Arsenal"s campaign looks to have taken a depressingly familiar turn in the last couple of weeks.
After their 2-0 home defeat to Barcelona, The Gunners are practically knocked out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 - again.
Two consecutive defeats to Manchester United and Swansea later, and it looks like they may well have blown their Premier League title tilt with ten games to go - again.
If this all sounds a bit "Groundhog Day", well, that"s because it is. Especially when it comes to blowing their title chances, Arsenal fans have seen it all before.
In fact, during Arsene Wenger"s long tenure at the club, there have been several seasons in which the team have narrowly missed out on the league title from a great position. If they do slip up once more this campaign, letting Leicester or Spurs win the league with all the pre-season favourites flagging, it"ll be remembered as the ultimate opportunity missed.
Arsenal"s last few results have been calamitous
Still, which other seasons have seen Wenger"s sides miss out when (arguably) they should have won the league?
In descending order of disastrousness...
Arsenal finish 3rd, 2007/08
This was the season.
With the post-Emirates austerity era starting to bite, Wenger"s late noughties side had one shot at the league title - the 2007/08 campaign.
For some time, they looked sure to win it. Unbeaten in their first 15 games, they spent the majority of the season between mid September and early March at the top of the table. They were undefeated at home for the entire season.
Still, still they blew it.
The defining moment came in a late-season draw with soon-to-be relegated Birmingham, a result which let eventual winners Manchester United take the initiative in the league. Then Arsenal captain William Gallas had an iconic meltdown, conceding a penalty for Birmingham to equalise and then refusing to leave the pitch at the final whistle.
Arsenal slumped. United and Chelsea pulled away. The Gunners ended the season on 83 points, four behind Alex Ferguson"s side in 1st place.
Arsenal finish 4th, 2013/14
It"s easy to forget that Arsenal spent 128 days at the top of the table this season.
Despite being exposed in a 6-3 defeat to Man City in December, Wenger"s men found consistency in the winter months and steadily climbed to the top of the league. It was all going so well.
Then they went to Anfield and got thumped 5-1. What followed was truly, truly horrifying.
The dream of a first league title since 2004 went belly up with further defeats against Stoke and Everton and a humiliating 6-0 drubbing away to Chelsea. Arsenal ended the season in 4th, seven points off top spot.
Well, that escalated quickly.
Arsenal finish 2nd, 1998/99
This was the first chance that Arsenal blew under Wenger, and it was a big one.
Though they were up against perhaps the best Manchester United side the Premier League has ever seen, Arsenal sneaked into top spot in the run in. They only had to beat Leeds United and Aston Villa in their last two games, and they were champions once more.
Unfortunately, a 1-0 defeat to Leeds saw United scrape the league by one point. That was despite taking a draw and a loss from their games with Arsenal.
United went on to win the treble. Wenger must have been livid.
Arsenal finish 2nd, 2000/01
Some might say this one is a bit harsh, but we stick by it.
Though Arsenal finished 10 points behind United in the end (and got thumped 6-1 at Old Trafford in February: see picture above), they recorded some seriously silly results over the course of the season.
Despite getting the better of their major rivals on regular occasion, they lost to Sunderland, Everton, Leeds, Charlton and Southampton away.
If only they could have improved on their travels, they"d have been well ahead of United come May.
Arsenal finish 2nd, 2002/03
Another contentious one here but, again, we think it deserves inclusion.
Arsenal went top of the league with a famous 3-0 victory against Spurs in mid November and stayed there until early April. Unfortunately, two needless draws with Aston Villa and Bolton (plus a 3-2 home loss to Leeds) saw United claim the title by a comfortable 5 points.
b****y United.
So there we have it - those are the season in which Arsenal could have topped the league, but slipped up in spectacular fashion.
Though 2007/08 and 2013/14 stick out as particularly bad misses, they all count.
Will 2015/16 go down as yet another squandered opportunity?

At the time she said: For me, this is a time of letting go, simplifying and getting my priorities right. I love it that my dresses can have a new lease of life in someone else"s wardrobe. I just thought, "This is a great way of recycling." "It"s really odd to think that some other woman might wear it at her wedding. I just hope whoever she is has more luck than I did."
Hall had four children with Jagger over the two decades that they were together, but ended the relationship after he was repeatedly unfaithful to her.
Hall, who walked for all the great fashion houses such as Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent during her catwalk heyday, once said that she would never let her daughters marry like Mick Jagger. She has now found happiness with Murdoch, the billionaire owner of News Corporation. The two met in Australia last year and went public with their relationship at the World Cup final together at Twickenham last October.
Remembering Bobbi Kristina Brown According to the autopsy report, Bobbi Kristina Brown died from pneumonia.
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - We now know Bobbi Kristina Brown"s face being immersed in water, along with drug intoxication, led to her death last year.
Friday morning, the Fulton County Medical Examiner"s Office released a statement about the findings of the autopsy on Bobbi Kristina following a court order on Thursday. The office said it reviewed medical records, investigative files and other documents to determine how Brown likely died. Marijuana and alcohol were involved in the death, along with medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety.

At this time, a medical examiner has not determined if Bobbi Kristina"s death was an accident or intentional. It has been classified as "undetermined."

The 22-year-old was found non-responsive, face down in her Roswell condo back in January of 2015. Brown"s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and a friend were in the house when it happened. No one has been arrested, but the Fulton County District Attorney"s Office told a judge the investigation into the mysterious death is still "active."
Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina"s father, released a statement Friday, on what would have been his daughter"s 23rd birthday. The statement, in part, said:
First and foremost, 23 years ago today, Bobbi Kristina was born. Krissy will always live in my heart and soul. I love my baby girl."
Brown"s attorney, Christopher Brown, said his client has had to be strong and mourn his loved ones in a fashion that is "foreign to most people."
So public, so raw, with apparently no end in sight. Hopefully public indictments and prosecution will lead to private healing and closure for Bobby Brown and his family," Christopher Brown said.
Thursday, ahead of the autopsy findings being released, Assistant District Attorney Paige Whittaker told Fulton County Superior Court Judge HenryNewkirk releasing the autopsy would jeopardize the police investigation.
"It is because our investigation is still ongoing and no arrests have been made in this case. So to release that autopsy information from the autopsy and related documents could compromise the investigation"s integrity," Whittaker said.
JudgeNewkirk pointed out that the state has had 13 months to investigate the case. The judge sided with media attorneys who said the public has a right to know.
"Back in January, we know from a briefing the DA released a significant report on the growing heroin epidemic in metro Atlanta. That of course is a matter of significant public interest not just to the public citizens of this state, but to the DA as well. If Ms. Brown"s death is related to this epidemic then releasing the autopsy report could bring valuable sunshine to the problem." said attorney S. Derek Bauer, who argued for the release of the autopsy.

Comcast SportsNet New England reporter Jessica Moran resigned from the network after seven years on the job, she confirmed to the Boston Globes Mark Shanahan Friday. Shanahan cited rumors that alleged a relationship between Moran and Red Sox manager John Farrell was at the center of her sudden departure.
Farrell declined comment on the rumors, and all Moran revealed was that it was in her personal and professional interest leave CSN:
I have stepped away from Comcast SportsNet as I thought it was in my best personal and professional interest to do so, Moran wrote in a text to the Globe. They have been extremely supportive during my tenure at the network and with this decision and I am very appreciative of that.
As for the rumor itself, theres not much to go on. Shanahan relays speculation among media members at Bostons spring training facility that the two were in some sort of relationship outside of the professional sphere. The Red Sox 2016 media guide also listed Farrell as single, which raised questions. He confirmed to reporters that he and his wife of 30 years have been separated for two years and were in the process of finalizing a divorce.
Whatever precisely happened (or didnt) between Farrell and Moran that led to her quitting is unclear, but there seems to be an established pattern of reporters getting involved with Red Sox players and managers, or at least rumored to be.
A decade ago their were rumors that manager Terry Francona was involved with NESNs Hazel Mae, but it turned out to be bunk. Heidi Watney, a NESN sideline reporter, was rumored to have had relationships with just-divorced catcher Jason Varitek and infielder Nick Green. Watney denied it vehemently, and Varitek remarried somebody else in 2011. Jenny Dell, also of NESN, started living with Will Middlebrooks in 2013 when he was still with the team, and they were engaged the next year. Dell and Middlebrooks got married last month, on Valentines Day.
There isnt much evidence of anything actually going on between Farrell and Moran, but its rather curious how members of the Red Sox keep getting linked with reporters over and over.

LAS VEGAS When Miesha Tate first revealed she wanted to be a mixed martial arts fighter about a decade before her championship fight Saturday against Holly Holm Bryan Caraway, then a budding MMA fighter and trainer, was strongly opposed.
He was interested in her as a potential girlfriend, and the thought of Tate fighting soured their budding romance.
I was like, Whoa, this is my deal, Caraway told USA TODAY Sports. You dont want to get your face punched. Youre a cute little girl.
Hows this for cute: Tate and Caraway eventually hooked up, in and out of the gym, and forged a relationship that has help develop Tate as perennial top contender and given her a third shot at a UFC championship. But for boyfriend/trainer and girlfriend/fighter, it has not been easy.
In fact, in 2013 Tate brought in a second trainer, Robert Follis.
He serves as a great buffer between Bryan and I when emotions get tense, Tate told USA TODAY Sports.
Strong emotions always have been at the root of the relationship between Tate and Caraway. They struck up a romance in 2005 at Central Washington University soon after Tate joined the MMA club Caraway helped start. But Caraway, who was helping train Tate, decided the relationship must be strictly business after Tate declared her intentions to fight competitively.
Initially, Caraway said, he was hoping she would quit.
We were a little bit more rough on her, he said. But I remember one day looking over and she was working just as hard if not harder than everyone on the team. Thats when I realized she was legit.
Tate started dating another MMA fighter, and a few months later, her new boyfriend committed suicide.
Tate, devastated, stopped training.
I really crawled into a shell, she said, adding that she did not resume training until she got a call from Caraway. It was really Bryan who pushed me to get back into mixed martial arts.
When she returned, their relationship changed. Caraway soon became Tates boyfriend and trainer, and so began their ascent in MMA. She made professional debut in 2007 and compiled a 12-2 record before getting a shot against Ronda Rousey in 2012.
After a first-round loss, Tate got a rematch in 2013. She became the first fighter to survive more than one round with Rousey in a competitive, three-round loss. Tate has since won four consecutive fights.
But perhaps her biggest victory was convincing Caraway that a cute little girl could handle herself in the octagon.
Obviously she won that battle, said Caraway, who also competes as a fighter and is 20-7 in MMA. It taught me a lot, not to put limitations on somebody just because youre uncomfortable with it.
