Man shot by Syracuse cops now facing charges in 100 mph chase at Canadian border

Sweet 16: Syracuse advances past Gonzaga

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A man shot by Syracuse police last week is now facing charges in connection with a high-speed chase near the Canadian border in December.

Federal agents charged Jeffrey J. Kelley, 32, of Syracuse, with fleeing an immigration checkpoint and failing to present his vehicle for inspection at an international border crossing.

Kelley was shot in a confrontation with Syracuse police officers Tuesday night. Syracuse police went to his apartment at 1006 Ivy Ridge Road in Syracuse after a family member reported Kelley was threatening to hurt himself.

When officers attempted to enter Kelley"s home, he threatened them, police said. After 30 minutes inside the apartment, Kelley charged at police officers, who fired their weapons in self-defense, police chief Frank Fowler said.

After Kelley was hospitalized and treated for injuries police said were minor, he was held on a weapons possession charge at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail.

Federal investigators Friday got a warrant to arrest Kelley in connection with a high-speed chase in the Thousand Islands in December.

Homeland Security investigators provided the following account of the Dec. 19 chase:

Kelley was driving south through the Alexandria Bay checkpoint just before 7 p.m. He stopped at an officer"s direction and produced his New York driver"s license. But when the officer asked him to lower a window so he could inspect the car, Kelley refused.

The officer then told Kelley to turn off his car and hand over the keys.

That"s when Kelley accelerated and zoomed away from the checkpoint southbound on Interstate 81. He left his driver"s license with the officer.

Another officer pursued Kelley"s vehicle, a Jeep 4x4, across the Thousand Islands Bridge and for more than five miles.

The officer chased Kelley at more than 100 miles per hour, but lost sight of his vehicle early on in the chase. The officer was unable to catch Kelley.

Kelley remains at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail. He has also been charged with violating a family court order. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m.

Did bunnies and chicks save mankind?

Learn the Ten Commandments

Apparently the pinnacle of Easter art now appears on womens feet; or at least a seeker might believe so, if they take Googles offerings to heart. Enter Easter 2016 art on the internet and almost all search results are now related to highly decorated human digits.

If that isnt kitschy enough, the ladies nails are covered with bunny faces and other pastel (and impious) froth. Now I have no grudge against perky pink things but are we in Japan? Following that are pages of things to color, cook, wear, paint, peel, sniff and buy, buy, buy none of it remotely spiritual and nary a cross or empty tomb to be seen for virtual miles.

Typical Google image for Easter

Not that the Google Info Cartel has all knowledge of existent religious art or probably much interest one way or another. Great machines stuffed with logarithms and random data decide what spews out the other end on the supplicants search screen. What Google results do prove is a low level of resurrection-related art production, exhibits, promotion and uploading in general.

Exasperated over the dismal lack of Easter matter, I tried Paschal art. Hmmmm. The mighty search lords Google and Bing dont recognize this rather common word for Easter and Passover. Both honor the looming retirement (in 2012) of a high school principal named Art Paschal, along with a few artists with the surname.

Most unfortunate is a lack of interest over the most significant event in human history an opportunity for eternal life for mankind. Things evaporating into internet oblivion are generally not being looked up or are politically threatening (or a sign you live in North Korea). Religious art exhibits in the West arent generally inflammatory, so sheer ennui is the most likely explanation left.

Yet we exist in great numbers regardless of Google"s inattention, along with our painters, singers, musicians, dancers and poets. Many long to do something extraordinary for this highest holy day. Paraphrasing something a journalist said about another holiday: "Yes, Virginia, there is a Resurrection."

Highly publicized or not, local churches pull out the stops this time of year (literally in grand organ concerts). Classical and new works for theater, film, orchestra, dance, paint, embroidery and choir are available. Most are free where else can you find such a deal?

If they were putting out advertisements in Artnews, Easter services in galleries could be described as "immersive, interactive, multi-media, multi-sense, extra-dimensional" performances. They could add that in this show, G*d Almighty is invited to engage with humanity and often shows up.

Denizens of New York City are blessed with spectacular music and art 24/7, but this week musicians and artists will cluster in the city"s churches. Wondrous works are presented to aid in worship such as Britten"s "Rejoice in the Lamb," Bach"s "St. John Passion," art shows and interpretive ballets.

Straight-up threats of h**l and damnation rarely fire from our pulpits anymore, but Sheol will be exposed in painful detail on Maundy Thursday in New York City. St. John the Divine presents their annual dramatization of "The Inferno" by Dante Alighieri, which is a reminder of what Christ saved us from on Easter morning.

Cecil B. DeMille"s 1956 "The Ten Commandments" made a resurgence, showing up at theaters around the U.S. for short periods this week just before Easter and Passover. ABC has been hosting the epic since 1973; and for those who can"t get enough, it appears they will again on Saturday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Competing with Charlton Heston is the new film "Easter Mysteries," an original, musical passion play seen (for the first time) through the eyes of the Apostle Peter. "Easter Mysteries" is produced and its music created by Tony Award-winner John O"Boyle. Unveiled at theaters on Wednesday, March 22, it will doubtless be available to buy or view soon.

Music is always with us on the greatest feast day of the church, but dance is still a rarity for some reason. Yet this art form seems the most natural manner to express overcoming the heaviness of death, burial and damnation: weightlessness, soaring and eventually the donning of immortal bodies. Dance can express some of these unique resurrection concepts better than any other art if it is done well and paired with the right music. At least that"s my opinion.

Gateway Worship Dance Team Easter performance 2014

Some churches are making a tradition of including dance on Resurrection Day and others are cautiously experimenting. I don"t know what they will do this year, but in 2014 Gateway Worship Dance team did a spectacular job without many professional artists or dancers in "Psalm 24 Easter Resurrection." choreographer Kimm crafted an expressive and rather complex dance with parts for accomplished dancers to young children. Dancers were backed by a live orchestra and choir. Stage right, a pair of visual artists worked on an Easter-related painting, ending it with the close of the dance.

In Kansas, the church spilled out onto secular stages this week at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. Wednesday"s liturgical dance "He is Risen!" is an annual event, performed by dancers from Barbara"s Conservatory of Dance Liturgical Dancers and Cleargold Worship Dance Ministry. Co-director Lacee Ebert described her feelings about her troupe: "It is a wonderful opportunity to use their entire bodies to praise and worship their Savior."

Dancers perform to both traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music, and hold a similar event for Christmas at the art center.

Obviously the church will celebrate the Resurrection of Christ regardless of slights by machine or man. Last year, Christians in Kenya observed a mournful Easter just three days after militant Muslims slaughtered and injured hundreds of their youth in Garissa.

Would more art have stopped it? Probably not, but it may have made a difference. Consider that ISIS uses hip hop and videos to entice killers and rapists clearly they have potential. Hollywood woos the hearts and souls of children to lose their virginity, faith and even their gender.

We will never know the full power of the arts for good until we enlist and back them to battle against the darkness of this world. Passover/Easter is a good season to begin.

Henry Cavill Open To Being Not Only Superman But James Bond

Henry Cavill Asks Kids: Batman or Superman? // Omaze

Would you be open to seeing Superman be the next James Bond? In the last time that the studio had to replace the British spy following the departure of Pierce Brosnan, the final list came down to three names Daniel Craig, Sam Worthington and Henry Cavill.

The role was eventually won by Craig. Cavill apparently lost out due to his young age at the time reportedly suggested as being the main reason he didnt get the gig. Now though, he is the perfect age and with talk that Craig may leave the role, could he be a potential candidate again? The actor appeared on BBCs The Graham Norton Show (via ET this weekend, he was asked if he would consider taking over the iconic role should his schedule allow it. He responded:

Im very busy with the Superman stuff, but if there were any windows and they wanted me to do that kind of role, it would be great. I would love to do it.

Cavill certainly has some major competition to fend off if hes really in for the win; with Tom Hiddleston as the current bookmakers frontrunner to succeed Craig. Hiddleston modestly responded to the news that, though it would be an extraordinary opportunity, he doesnt take the rumours too seriously; treating them more as an inevitable by-product of his role on BBCs The Night Manager.

The likes of Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba have all been mentioned as potential candidates for the part. The Bond producers however famously have no issues going back to people who missed out the first time on playing Bond such as they did with Moore and Brosnan.

In Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gotham Citys own formidable, forceful vigilante, fearing the actions of a G*d-like Super Hero left unchecked, takes on Metropoliss most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than its ever known before.

Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, joined by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance as Aquaman.

Would you like to see Cavill play Bond? Sound off below in the comments section.

Canada"s Sikh defence minister Harjit Sajjan heckled with "racist" remarks by opposition MP

A Bird Landed on Bernie Sanders’ Lectern and Everyone Lost Their Minds

Canada"s first Sikh defence minister Harjit Sajjan was heckled in Parliament by an opposition member MP in an act that has been called "racist". Conservative MP Jason Kenney sparked controversy by shouting that MPs needed an "English-to-English" translation to understand Sajjan.

The incident took place on 1 February as Canadian ministers debated the country"s military action against Islamic State (Isis). Following the period of question and answers, Liberal MP Kevin Lamoureux rose on a point of order about Kenney"s "inappropriate comment", urging for him to consider apologising to the newly-appointed defence minister.

MP Lamoureux said: "The minister of defence was providing an answer, which was quite legible, individuals heard the question, and yet the member from Calgary Midnapore [Kenney] stated from across the seat that we need to have "English-to-English translation". I"m wondering if the member would do the proper thing and apologise or, at the very least, explain his comments?"

However, MP Kenney refused to admit that he was in the wrong and said he would not apologise for what he believed was a reasonable comment. Kenny said: "The minister"s answers were totally incoherent so there"s nothing to apologise for."

Other MPs were quick to jump to the aid of defence minister Sajjan, condemning MP Kenney"s remarks. Indian-origin MP Ruby Sahota tweeted: "Shame on @jkenny for his racist remarks during today"s qp and refusal to apologise is unacceptable."

Another Indian-origin MP, MP Raj Grewal, echoed Sahota"s views that the incident was "unacceptable" and called on MP Kenny to apologise. Kenney responded to the tweets by saying that he had "huge respect" for defence minister Sajjan but continued to refuse to apologise.

In a series of tweets, Kenney said: "Unfortunately I find his [Sajjan"s] answers on ending combat against Isis to be at best unpersuasive and, at worst, incoherent. That"s the point I tried to make. Sorry if it was misconstrued in any way. He"s a fine, intelligent man but, [in my honest opinion], his position is wrong."

Defence minister Sajjan was appointed as Canada"s defence minister in November 2015 when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau"s 30-member Liberal cabinet was formed. Having originally been born in India, he moved to Canada with his family when he was five years old and has lived in the country ever since. He has served as a combat veteran and had deployments in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Kandahar.

Freddy got Fingered: Mann vergisst VHS 14 Jahre und wird verhaftet

The Very Best of Freddy Got Fingered
