Kik Hernandez Blasts Two Home Runs as Dodgers Beat Bumgarner on Jackie Robinson Day

LOS ANGELES It may have been Jackie Robinson Day at Dodger Stadium on Friday, but it was Kik Hernandez who stole the show.

Hernandez hit two home runs and knocked in four runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the rival San Francisco Giants 7-4 to takeover sole possession of first place in the National League West division.

One day after hitting the game-winning double in the Dodgers 5-2 victory over the Diamondbacks, the Puerto-Rican utility player flexed his power muscles, hitting not one, but two, towering blasts into the pavilion seats off World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner.

"I"m just not trying to do too much," he said. "I"ve gotten good pitches to hit and have happened to put good swings on them."

Hernandez hit the first pitch he saw off the left-hander into the seats in centerfield and followed that up with another homer, this time even further into left-center in the bottom of the third inning. It was Hernandez"s first leadoff home run and multi-homer game of his career.

"First pitch of the game I figured he"d throw a fastball," Hernandez continued. "My dad and my sisters are in town, and are about to leave, so I"m glad I could do this with them watching."

For an encore, Hernandez hit a two-run double off Bumgarner in an inning later, finishing 3-for-5 with four RBIs on the night.

Charlie Culberson made a spot-start at shortstop, giving left-handed batter, Corey Seager, a day off against Bumgarner. Culberson continued his recent string of success against San Francisco with a three RBIs on Friday.

Culberson has started two games for the Dodgers -- both against Bumgarner -- and recorded multiple hits in each game.

Hernandez and Culberson provided the only offense Los Angeles would need against their rivals on Jackie Robinson Day a historic day in which everyone in baseball wears the No. 42 and Clayton Kershaw did the rest in his second matchup with Bumgarner this season.

"It feels good," said Kershaw of beating the Giants. "They made some defensive mistakes that we were able to capitalize on, thankfully, I had a little bit of a lead to work with, but overall it feels good to get the first game of the series."

Kershaw improved to 2-0 on the season, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits in seven innings. Both earned runs came on uncharacteristic wild pitches, the first time the left-hander has done that since June 15, 2012.

"I made two bad pitches," Kershaw said of the runs he allowed. "Some of my pitches were okay, but overall I still have a lot to get better at."

Bumgarner had his worst outing against the Dodgers in his career, allowing a career-high seven runs to Los Angeles in his first loss of the season.

The game marked the ninth meeting of the mounds between three-time World Series Champion Bumgarner and three-time Cy Young Award winner, Kershaw. According to Elias Sports, it ties with Doug Rau and Jim Barr as the longest pitching duel in the Dodgers-Giants rivalry.

Kershaw improves to 3-4 with a 2.18 ERA in the head-to-head rivalry, whereas Bumgarner drops to 4-3 with a 2.87 ERA in their nine matchups.

Players of the Game:

Kik Hernandez: 3-for-5, two homers, a double, and four RBI. Charlie Culberson: 2-for-4, three RBI and a run scored.

Three Takeaways:

1. Kerhsaw vs. Bumgarner Part Deux: It was the second meeting of the 2016 season between Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner, and the second series between the rivals. Both pitchers received a no-decision in the first meeting (a 3-2 Dodgers victory), and it"s their ninth meeting overall.

2. Hernandez Heating Up: Kik Hernandez did all the damage for the Dodgers for the second consecutive game, going 3-for-5 with two homers, a double and four RBIs on Friday. In his last two games, Hernandez is 5-for-8 with two homers, two doubles and six RBIs. Entering the game, Hernandez was batting .379 against left-handed pitchers, tops in baseball.

3. Thank You, Jackie: It was another historic and successful April 15th at Dodger Stadium on Friday, otherwise known as "Jackie Robinson Day." Everyone on the field and around the league wore the number 42 on their backs in honor of the first black player to integrate the game of baseball in 1947. The Dodgers honored Robinson with a pregame celebration that included his wife, Rachel, his daughter, Sharon, teammate, Don Newcombe, Dodgers owner, Magic Johnson, and baseball"s first black manager, Frank Robinson.

Up Next:

Giants (6-5): Johnny Cueto takes the mound on Saturday to face the rival Dodgers for the second time in a week.

Dodgers: (7-4): Scott Kazmir goes opposite Cueto for the second time, after a high-scoring game in San Francisco last Sunday. First pitch is 6:10 PM PST.

For Johnny Manziel, Rehab Is Only Shot At NFL Comeback: Crisis Expert

Top 5 Defensive Players in the NFL (2016)

The fate of Johnny Manziels spiraling football career and potentially his life rests on whether the former Cleveland Browns quarterback listens to the multiple individuals encouraging him to seek treatment for substance abuse issues, a crisis management expert told FOXBusiness.com.

Manziels tumultuous offseason reached its low point Thursday, when a New York Post report revealed he hosted parties that caused about $20,000 in damage to a Los Angeles condo last week. Photos of the damage appeared to show evidence of drug and alcohol use. The allegations surfaced just hours after Manziels agent, Drew Rosenhaus, gave him an ultimatum either enter rehab or find new representation.

A stay in a months-long, intensive rehab program is the only option if Manziel wants to continue his NFL career one day, according to crisis management expert Jack Deschauer, who advised athletes during the NFLs Spygate scandal and the manslaughter trial of former NBA star Jayson Williams.

The absolute only chance that Johnny Manziel has at a professional football career at this point would be to enter an inpatient rehabilitation program, a serious one, today, and stay there, whether its a 30-day or a 90-day, and then complete it, Deschauer, a senior vice president at Washington D.C.-based firm Levick, told FOXBusiness.com. And then honestly, remain stone cold sober for as long as his athletic career lasts. Otherwise hes going to be dead in six months.

More on Johnny Manziel

Supporters have grown increasingly concerned about Manziels erratic behavior in recent weeks. The 23-year-old Texas native looked pale and gaunt during a bizarre April 9 encounter with a TMZ film crew. Hours later, Manziel was purportedly a passenger in a car that crashed into a Hollywood light pole.

Manziel, who briefly entered rehab in February 2015, has been dogged by rumors of hard partying ever since his days at Texas A&M University. The Browns released him in March of this year, weeks after he was involved in a domestic incident with his then-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley. Manziels previous agent, Erik Burkhardt, dropped him as a client after the 2015 season, citing failed efforts by himself and Manziels family to get the quarterback into treatment.

The fact that Rosenhaus, who claims to have never dropped a client in 27 years as one of the NFLs most high-profile agents, is willing to take that step with Manziel is proof of the situations severity.

Of all the late night phone calls that Drew Rosenhaus has had to deal with, for all the clients that hes had, none of them has ever gotten to this point, Deschauer said.

A stay at an inpatient facility is just the first step on Manziels path back to the NFL, Deschauer added. After completing treatment, Manziel has to show NFL teams that he is committed to sobriety and willing to work his way back onto the field.

That could mean a prolonged stint as a backup quarterback, or even a trip to the Canadian Football League or the Arena Football League.

In the past, NFL teams have shown a willingness to overlook off-field transgressions if theyre convinced a player can help them win. Michael Vick returned to the NFL in 2009 after spending nearly two years in federal prison on dogfighting charges.

As long as talent evaluators in the league think he still has the ability to play as well as he can when hes good, I think theres a door opening for him when he comes out of this, Deschauer said. [But] hes going to have to spend months, if not a year, proving to the world that he can stay sober before he even gets to prove that he can throw the football around.

But any further off-field incidents could permanently damage Manziels chances at an NFL career. Rosenhaus told Pro Football Talk on Friday that Manziel has yet to take steps toward getting help.

If rock bottom is worse than this, it might be something that he couldnt possibly come back from, NFL-wise, Deschauer said.

Live Recap: Prince"s Piano & A Microphone Tour, Atlanta"s Fox Theatre, 4/14/16

Prince William is Slowly Having His Hand Crushed (TMZ TV)

When Princes Atlanta date on his Piano & A Microphone Tourwhich, just like it sounds, features the singer playing solo at a purple baby grand, the first such tour of his lengthy careerwas postponed last week due to a bout with the flu, the rescheduled shows were announced surprisingly quickly. The Purple One hit the stage at the Fox Theatre just a week after he was initially supposed to, and from the look of it, hed made a full recovery.

Would we really expect any less, though? We all know Prince isnt fully humanthe man hasnt visibly aged in 30 years, so why should we be surprised that seven days after being ill, hes reaching mind-blowing high notes on A Case of U that artists half his age would struggle to hit? His 7 p.m. set was a short onejust 80 minutesbut that seemed to have more to do with the fact that the venue needed to turn over in time for his 10 p.m. set later that evening than with any sort of lingering flu symptoms. Prince made every second count, and perhaps most importantly, the crowd was grateful for any time at all. He still managed to cram two encores into those 80 minutes, and every time he reappeared onstage, the noise was deafening.

The encores werent the only times the singer left the stagehe got up periodically throughout the set, at one point leaving briefly to regroup before returning and explaining that Sometimes I forget how emotional these songs are. But every time those fingers hit the keys, thered be a rapturous moment of recognition from the crowd. The opportunity to hear these songs stripped down on the piano is a rare one, and that wasnt lost on the fans, some of whom shelled out as much as $1000 a seat to be there.

Prince fed off that energy, too, encouraging hand-claps and sing-alongs on Controversy and bringing the house lights up for Kiss to witness the entire theater attempting their best falsettos. His cover of David Bowies Heroes was moving, resulting in a hushed aweone of the few quiet moments of the set. Purple Rain fans didnt get to hear the famous title tracka fact some reminded him when he finished his last encore by joking I dont have any more hits left!but they were treated to stellar versions of favorites from that record like I Would Die 4 U, Baby Im a Star and The Beautiful Ones.

And, ultimately, Prince can do and play whatever he wants. Hes Prince, and hes here blessing us with his presence. Especially for a show that almost wasnt, every song feels like a gift.

Detroit Red Wings: Best of 2015-16 Regular Season

With his NHL career winding down, Pavel Datsyuk is leaving it all on the ice. Literally.

Instead of heading to the penalty box, however, Datsyuk stormed off to the locker room for repairs.

Henrik Zetterberg located Datsyuks missing chiclet in between whistles and handed it to his teams trainer.

If you cant rely on your teammates to pick up your teeth when you lose some chiclets, then what can you rely on them for, really?

Datsyuk eventually returned to the game.

Sarah Palin Says Bill Nye the Science Guy Is "as Much a Scientist as I Am"

Sarah Palin rips Bill Nye over climate change

Can Sarah Palinsee polar bears from her house? The controversial former governor of Alaska blasted climate change as a political strategy and dissed Bill Nye the Science Guy during a Congressional event on Thursday, April 14.

Palin, 52, made her comments during a screening of anti-climate change film Climate Hustle, and according to The Hill, the former vice presidential candidate pointed to Nye, 60, as an alarmist.

PHOTOS: Celebrities" Political Affiliations

Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am, she said at the Capitol Hill event. Hes a kids show actor; hes not a scientist. (Nye hosted the educational TV program Bill Nye the Science Guy from 1993 to 1998.)

PHOTOS: President Obama"s A-List Pals

Its something our candidates should be talking about and giving us their view on and hopefully acknowledging that it needs to become, in the science community, less political, she opined on climate change. Otherwise, it leads us to believe that so many things coming from perhaps the scientists could be bogus. If this is bogus, you know, what else are they trying to tell us and trying to control us around if they cant get this one right?

Palin further added that public figures such as Nye are controlling the narrative about the planets health, and are deterring parents from teaching their kids to question climate change.

[They need to] ask those questions and not just believe what Bill Nye the Science Guy is trying to tell them, she said.

Nye was previously a visiting professor at Cornell, and is an executive at the Planetary Society.

Aisha Tyler"s Husband Filed For Divorce

Aisha Tyler Stand Up - 2009

WENN

After twenty years of marriage, Aisha Tyler and her husband, Jeff Tietjens, have called it quits.

According to TMZ, the Talk host and Tietjens have been living separately since January 2015. Ultimately, it was Tietjens who pulled the trigger. He filed for divorce with the L.A. County Superior Court and cited irreconcilable differences.

Tylers spokesperson, Lisa Morbete, told TMZ that she and her husband will continue their friendship despite the fact that their marriage is ending.

Tyler and Tietjens, who were college sweethearts, tied the knot in 1994 when she was just 23 years old. At the time, she was sure that she didnt want children, but as she approached her 40s, she experienced a change of heart.

I was with someone at 19, and I was married at 23, and I didnt want kids when I was in my 20s, Aisha shared back in September. I wasnt mentally prepared to take care of them; I was focused on my career. And then when I got to be in my 40s, and I thought about having kids, I wasnt able to have kids naturally. I dont regret it.

The couple tried IVF for a while, but they were unsuccessful, and eventually, decided to give up. It is unclear if this played a role in their breakup.
