Rose McGowan Slams "X-Men" Billboard Showing Jennifer Lawrence Being Strangled

Devil in the Flesh - Starring Rose McGowan - Full Movie

Monica Schipper/FilmMagic

Update (6/3, 4:30 P.M.): In a statement toThe Hollywood Reporter, 21st Century Fox has apologized for the ad, citing the company"s failure to recognize the "upsetting connotation of this image in print form." The full statement reads:

"In our enthusiasm to show the villainy of the character Apocalypse we didnt immediately recognize the upsetting connotation of this image in print form. Once we realized how insensitive it was, we quickly took steps to remove those materials. We apologize for our actions and would never condone violence against women."

Original Story: There"s been billboards popping up as promotion forX-Men: Apocalypse, showing Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) strangling Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), and Rose McGowan is calling out the film for the unsettling image.

The actress shared her thoughts on the billboard withThe Hollywood Reporter, saying that it promotes violence against women:

"There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film. There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and frankly, stupid. The geniuses behind this, and I use that term lightly, need to to take a long hard look at the mirror and see how they are contributing to society. Imagine if it were a black man being strangled by a white man, or a gay male being strangled by a hetero? The outcry would be enormous. So lets right this wrong. 20th Century Fox, since you cant manage to put any women directors on your slate for the next two years, how about you at least replace your ad?"

McGowan continued,

"Ill close with a text my friend sent, a conversation with his daughter. It follows: My daughter and I were just having a deep discussion on the brutality of that hideous X-Men poster yesterday. Her words: "Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?" This from a 9-year-old.If she can see it, why cant Fox?"

Other people have also voiced their opinions on the billboards on Twitter, but 20th Century FOX and the film"s director have yet to comment.

Kobe Bryant calls Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson "stone-cold killers"

Every Three-Pointer from Klay Thompson"s Record Breaking Night

Kobe Bryant is widely recognized as the fiercest competitor of his generation, an on-court killer whose only focus was winning above all else.

In an interview with ESPN, when asked which players in today"s NBA have a Kobe-like instinct, Bryant named Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson specifically, and explained why he enjoys their particular brand of basketball.

"There"s several of them out there right now that approach the game extremely, extremely seriously," Bryant said. "I get a kick out of watching Golden State play, because they seem very unassuming. You know, Klay and Steph seem very calm and (like) nice guys. Those guys are stone-cold killers, man. They don"t care about what you think of them. They don"t care about if they make a game-winning shot or miss it. They"re out there to do their job, and they have a very strong sense of killer instinct."

This shouldn"t come as too much of a surprise. The Warriors are historically great, and they"re favored to win a second straight championship. Those things don"t happen unless you have players like Curry and Klay who are laser-focused on achieving their goals, and Bryant knows that better than perhaps anyone else.

All About Fentanyl, the Drug That Killed Prince and Is Sweeping the U.S.

Death by Fentanyl, Part 1: The ‘serial killer’ of drugs
Prince"s April 21 death has now been officially chalked up to an overdose of the opiate fentanyl.

While fentanyl may not be as immediately familiar to many people as more commonly cited drugs like Percocet or Oxycontin, addiction expert and founder of Origins Behavioral Healthcare, Ben Levenson, told PEOPLE the extremely powerful, synthetic opiate isn"t uncommon.

Explaining what exactly the drug is, Levenson who also founded The Levenson Foundation and frequently works on Dr. Phil as an addiction advisor compared the potency of the drug to other regular abused drugs.

"It"s very, very powerful. 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and 25 to 50 times more potent than heroin," he said. "Depending on the grade, about 40 times more potent than heroin."

The CDC estimates that fentanyl is 80 times as potent as morphine and hundreds of times more potent than heroin. Classified as a Schedule II drug by the federal government, its medical uses are typically pain management following surgery or for chronic pain.

However, Levenson said using the drug to regularly treat pain management isn"t the best option, as fentanyl which is so potent it"s prescribed in micrograms as opposed to milligrams hits patients quickly, in about five minutes, but wears off quickly as well, lasting only about an hour.

"Fentanyl was utilized initially to make the death experience painless," Levenson, a recovered addict himself, explained. "It was never intended to be used during the course of someone"s life to manage pain. It is extremely over-prescribed and highly sought after by addicts.

"It hits you fast and it wears off fast, so it"s not a good drug for someone who is, for instance, recovering from knee surgery, although it"s widely prescribed. It was never designed for that."

Now marketed under the brand names Actiq, Duragesic and Sublimaze, Fentanyl was originally synthesized by Paul Janssen in 1959 and introduced in 1960 as a structurally related analog for pethidine (more commonly known as Demerol), which had been created a few years prior. Levenson said the original means for the drug was palliative care.

WATCH: Prince Died from Opioid Overdose, According to Reports

Fentanyl was being abused recreationally by the 1970s. Apparently, it"s appeared on the streets under names like: Apache, China Girl, China White, Dance Fever, Goodfella, Jackpot, Murder 8, TNT and bizarrely, Tango and Cash. While initially, it was simply stolen from pharmacies, it has also been synthesized by drug dealers and is frequently "cut" or mixed with heroin or cocaine, going by ominous names like Bomb, Drop Dead, Flatline and Lethal Injection. One gram of pure fentanyl can be cut into approximately 7,000 doses for street sale, and manufacture of the drug requires relatively little technical knowledge.

Now, the drug is medically administered in a variety of ways, including a spray form taken orally and a lollipop, which Levenson said is highly sought after. It can also be taken intravenously or made into a powder and snorted, similar to cocaine.

Despite it"s potency and the fact that it is in the category of drugs along with morphine and oxycontin with the highest potential of abuse and fatalities, Levenson said doctor"s continue to give it to patients because, over time, they"ve been trained to prescribe for pain. Additionally, patients taking opiates develop a tolerance that push them towards higher strength prescriptions.

"You can"t challenge patients" pain reports. If a patient reports, "My pain is an 8," you have to treat them at an 8," Levenson added. "The reason people get to the level of needing fentanyl, and doctors going ahead and prescribing them is because they"ve worked their way through lower strength opiates."

Although the DEA occasionally discovered illicit fentanyl labs throughout the eighties and nineties, it wasn"t until the 2000s that the drug"s appearance on the street increased markedly. The CDC reports that from 2005-2007, there were a total of 1,013 deaths related to fentanyl in the U.S., most of which were concentrated in Illinois and Michigan. In the early "00s, the drug also flooded Eastern Europe, where, in a dark foreshadowing of its place in the U.S., it overtook heroin as the hard drug of choice. Estonia was hit particularly hard; at one point, the drug was killing more people than traffic accidents.

More recently, in 2013, a previously unseen fentanyl analog was blamed for 14 overdose deaths among drug users in Rhode Island. In most of the cases, the drug was, as usual, mixed with cocaine, heroin or other drugs. In August 2015, a spate of overdoses in Western Canada were linked to the drug, which was being trafficked along a common drug route that flowed from British Columbia to Alberta and Vancouver. Canadian authorities have linked 500 deaths to the drug since 2013.

In the U.S., fentanyl has quietly usurped heroin in many regions. In New Hampshire, for example, the drug killed 158 people in 2015, while heroin killed 32.

"It started out as an opioid epidemic, then heroin, but now it"s a fentanyl epidemic," Maura Healey, the attorney general of Massachusetts, told the New York Times in March.

"Massachusetts is the epicenter for the heroin/fentanyl trade," Healey added. "From Lawrence, its being trafficked and sold all over the New England states."

In March of 2015, the DEA issued a nationwide alert about the drug. "Drug incidents and overdoses related to fentanyl are occurring at an alarming rate throughout the United States and represent a significant threat to public health and safety," DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart wrote. The report specified New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and the St. Louis area as being hit particularly hard, with California one West Coast outlier, owing to its common use as a traffic route for drug cartels in Mexico.

The alert did not come without solid cause, as Levenson told PEOPLE that America is facing a "national opioid epidemic, with overdose being the number one cause of accidental deaths in the country.

"Ultimately, you end up with overdoses and fatalities because of tolerance. They"re not getting the effect so they take more and more and more, but there"s a point when more is deadly," he said. "Long term Fentanyl use leads to death."

Shaun Livingston, Andre Iguodala provide Warriors steady influence

Andre Iguodala Drops a Ridiculous And-1 Circus Layup
Photo: Carlos Avila Gonzalez, The Chronicle

Andre Iguodala (9) dunks in the first half as the Golden State Warriors played the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., on Thursday, June 2, 2016. The Warriors defeated the Cavaliers 104-89.

First question for Warriors head coach Steve Kerr after Thursdays NBA Finals Game 1:

Steve, will Stephen Curry start next game?

OK, I wimped out, didnt ask that question. Just because a few Oracle fans were chanting MVP! MVP! when Shaun Livingston stepped to the free-throw line late in the game doesnt mean Livingston will bump Curry, who scored 11 points and had five turnovers.

But however many minutes Livingston and fellow fogy Andre Iguodala log in Sundays Game 2, it will be that many too many, in the eyes of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Livingston scored 20 points in 26-plus minutes, on 8-for-10 shooting, mostly on those Inspector Gadget Extendo-Arm jump shots. Livingston is all that stands between the mid-range jump shot and extinction. Next hes planning to bring back teensy shorts, bubble Afros and the boom box.

Iguodala scored 12 including two three-pointers and had seven rebounds and six assists, in just less than 36 minutes. And zero turnovers. Much more important, he helped frustrate that LeBron James guy, who has a bunch of 40-point games in his pocket but could chip in only 23 Thursday.

Shaun Livingston, Andre Iguodala provide Warriors steady influence

The most successful move James made all night was scurrying off the court and into the exit tunnel after the final horn, before the yellow confetti dropped from the rafters. If youre sweaty, that stuff will stick to you like dinosaur dandruff.

Cleveland hates Iguodala, who shredded the Cavs last year in the Finals. He cost that city a shot at its first pro sports championship since 1964, and now hes pulling the same stuff. Beyond annoying. He is to Cleveland what Godzilla is to Tokyo, but with better manners.

Cleveland must have cheered en masse in the third quarter when backup guard Matthew Dellavedova raced up behind Iguodala, reached around and karate-chopped Iguodala right there, with relish. Iguodala clearly took exception, but kept his cool.

Where did he hit you?

Um, Iguodala said, where most men wouldnt want to be hit. ... Im not going to judge (intent) or say anything negative about him. Hes out there competing. Theres a lot of emotions going out there.

I respect a lot of guys hustle in this league, and youve got guys whove got to get a little dirty, a little physical, to make a life, and to feed your family, so I can only respect that. For me, its just keep my composure, continue to try to do things for my team to help us win.

Iguodala explained his emotional role on the Warriors.

I normally try to keep an even coolness about myself, he said. Not just for me, but for the team as well. We can kind of get giddy out there and lose a little bit, so I try to get us back to that even balance, and thats pretty much been my role on this team.

Iguodala and Livingston could rent themselves out as chaperones at high school dances. Sure, they look like theyre half-asleep, but dont even try to sneak that flask of hooch into the boys room. Iguodala will reach out like a cobra and strip that sucker out of your hands. Ask Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and James. The strip is more embarrassing than a block, and Iguodala has mastered the felonious art.

Iguodala and Livingston know their work here isnt done. James has to be a boiling volcano, and impish Dellavedova, the only NBA player on the All-Madden Team, hasnt even dug into his bag of tricks.

A quick glance at YouTube videos showed a couple of instances of Dellavedova riding Iguodala like a rodeo bronc, and then diving at his knees.

Livingston, meanwhile, continues to be the worlds best insurance policy. When Curry was injured twice against Houston in the first round of these playoffs, dooming the Warriors chances of advancing, who stepped into the starting lineup?

Livingston played beautifully, averaging double-figure points, defending his position, running the break, running the offense. His cool confidence allowed the Warriors to not panic, bought more time for Curry to heal without having to hurry back. Steadied the ship.

Now, when Curry takes a night off, figuratively speaking, Livingston is there. When Curry is in MVP form, Livingston is there to complement him and to spell him without the Warriors falling apart.

Livingston and Iguodala do stuff that cant be easily explained. How is it that the Warriors signature fastbreak is at its best when the two old guys are leading it?

On Thursday, Livingston and Iguodala or, as much of America calls them, Whooo? saved the Warriors, on a night when all the pre-series expert analysis and predictions were shredded like confetti.

Blue Angels pilots, support staff are tight-knit family

U S Navy Blue Angels plane crash killed Pilot

Listening to Blue Angels flight surgeon Joe Schwartztalk recently about the elite demonstration team, something became instantly clear the men and womenserving with the Blue Angels are more than co-workers, they are a tight-knit family.

I interviewed Dr. Schwartz and pilots Matt Suyderhoud and Andy Talbott at the Blue Angels hangar on Pensacola Naval Air Station earlier this month for a story about the intense physical demands of Blue Angels" flying.

I spent a little over an hour talking withSuyderhoud, Talbott and Schwartz andI went away impressed. Impressed by their dedication, impressed by their skill and impressed by their willingness to sacrifice so much of their lives for the protection of others. Yes, Suyderhoud and Talbott are hot-shot, elite fighter jet pilots -they look like movie actors and are worshiped as much as any Hollywood heartthrob. They are also real peoplewho are loved by their families, friends and coworkers.

Suyderhoud and Talbott told me a lot about how it feels to fly the F/A-18 Hornets in high-G maneuvers, what it is like to get used to Blue Angel flying after years of flying off aircraft carriers as part of the Navy fleet and what they do to stay in the top physical and mental condition required to be on the team. They all referenced the inherent dangers of Blue Angels flying. The also referenced how close they are with other officers and the support staff.

Schwartz was a little more personal. Heis the primary care provider for the pilots and all of the Blue Angels staff, a total of 130 people. Heunderstands the stress the entire team is under, their constant pursuit of perfection and the toll endless trips away from home takes on the team members and their families.

Having the right team dynamic is crucial to a successful season, he said. That"swhy all of the officers have equal votes in deciding which candidates they will invite to be on the team.

Everyone who has the skills to apply to be a part of the team is very good at the job, it often comes down to personality, he said.

"The most important concern is, because of the high-operations tempo, because we are on the road with each other and hanging out 300 days a year, how do we get along," he said. "That translates into how do the people in this room who are going to fly 18inches apart get along, can they trust each other. That is of primary importance."

Walk the hallways of the Blue Angels hangar, and you notice more than military formality. It is a fun workplace with a serious mission. Everyone knows everyone by first name. They joke with each other and share stories about their families.

150114-N-SN160-005 (Jan. 14, 2015) Left Wing Pilot, Lt. Andy Talbott, U.S. Navy flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels, flies over Shadetree Range, Calif., during a training sortie. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Michael Lindsey/Released)(Photo: Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Michael Lindsey/ Blue Angels public affairs)

Schwartz flies once a month in the backseat of one of the jets becauseit is important for him to understand what the pilots go through. He also worksout with the pilots in the gym to help them prepare for air shows and just to see how they are doing.

"The most unique thing about this place is that people want to be here, they want to go to work every day here," he said.

But Schwartz said they put intense pressure on themselves.

"The product is perfection that we know we will never reach," he said.

Walk the hallways of the Blue Angels" hangar and you see what drives that pursuit a 70-year legacy of sharing elite Naval aviation with the world. Photographs of teams dating back to the 1940s line the walls.

Current and former pilots often talkabout the importance of preserving that legacy, they don"t want to let down any of the men who came before them.

The team has incredibly tough road ahead dealing with the aftermath of Thursday"s deadly crash,I believeit is this legacy that will push them forward.

Nintendo E3 2016: Pokemon Sun and Moon, Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest streams confirmed

Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendaries! • Names, Types, Moves REVEALED! • [June 2nd 2016]

Nintendo has changed its mind about whats on show at E3 2016.

The Legend of Zelda wont be the only thing Nintendo shows to the public to celebrate E3 2016.

Having previously said it was skipping the traditional E3 Nintendo Presents in favour of a show devoted purely to The Legend of Zelda Wii U, the platform holder has announced a series of livestreamed presentations focused on other titles.

Heres the schedule:

  • June 14: stream starts 9:00am PTPokemon Sun and Moon in action, The Legend of Zelda world premiere, Nintendo Treehouse Live.
  • June 15: stream starts at 10:00am PTPokemon GO developer Q&A session, Nintendo Treehouse Live including Monster Hunter Generations, Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

There may be a few surprises, too, as Nintendo seems pretty keen on short PR cycles nowadays and is so unpredictable that we never dare to guess what it might suddenly burst out with. Did anybody expect it to start selling Amiibo? And yet here we are, knee-deep in them.

Dont expect anything earth-shattering, though. Nintendo has said repeatedly that the NX will not be on show. We expect it to be detailed later in the year ahead of a first-half 2017 launch.

If youre planning your viewing schedule or looking for clues on what well see from this years show, our E3 2016 info hub has everything you need to know.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. For more information, go here.
