Power Play with CJ: Emily Austen to the Power Play?
Some bad news for a big name: the White Sox have designated shortstop Jimmy Rollins for assignment.
Chicago did so to callup top shortstop prospect Tim Anderson today. They did that because Rollins was hitting a mere .221/.295/.329 with two homers and eight RBI over 149 at-bats. Thats in keeping with his 2015 performance, so its less likely a slow start than simply where Rollins is as a player right now.
Anderson, meanwhile, was hitting .304/.325/.409 at Triple-A this year. He had a similar yet slightly better line at Double-A last season. He hit a tad better than that across three levels in 2014. Just as Rollins is who he is now, Anderson seems to be a guy who can get on base at a decent clip for a middle infielder and supply some gap power on occasion. Its time to see what the 23-year-old can do in the bigs.
This may not be the end of the line for Rollins. Rollins defense has noticeably deteriorated, but perception tends to lag the numbers with some front offices and so someone might still think hes a plausible stopgap at shortstop based on reputation alone. Hard to say. As of now, hes 37 with a career line of .264/.324/.418 and has 2,455 hits, 231 homers, 470 stolen bases, four Gold Gloves, an MVP Award and a World Series on his resume.

Destiny: Rise of Iron Release Date and Details Leaked. Old Gen Dropped?
After numerous leaks, Bungie today officially announced Rise of Iron, the next expansion for Destiny. During a livestream event, Bungie confirmed that, as rumored, Rise of Iron will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. All of the game"s previous expansions were released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well.
Rise of Iron launches on September 20, priced at $30. However, it does also require the Destiny base game, as well as The Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King.
"Rise of Iron is an exciting addition to the Destiny universe," Bungie CEO Pete Parsons said in a statement. "We are continually blown away and inspired by the growing Destiny community"s energy and enthusiasm."
The expansion includes new areas, including The Plaguelands and Felwinter Peak. Additionally, the Destiny starting area, The Wall, has been recreated as a new area you can revisit.
Players will also find a new raid, new and updated strikes, and more patrols and public events. Multiplayer fans may be happy to learn, too, that there will be more Crucible maps and features, while Rise of Iron also adds new CG and in-game cinematics.
Additionally, Rise of Iron comes with a new Light level increase (an unspecified "significant Light increase," developers said) and a new "mutated" enemy faction of the Fallen.
One of the new weapons is a "flaming waraxe," which is an "encounter-specific weapon," developers said. This suggests it may not be available in Crucible matches. Here is what it looks like.
Activision
In terms of story, here is the official description:
"Guardians must rise to the challenge to take their place as the next generation of Iron Lords. Along the way they will join forces with a legend from humanity"s Golden Age to defeat a plague of unstoppable evil once and for all."
Also during the livestream event, Bungie confirmed that the fan-favorite Gjallarhorn weapon is returning for Rise of Iron. Everyone can get it by completing a mission, while people who preorder will receive a limited-edition black-and-silver version of the gun.
Similar to past Destiny expansions, there will also be items exclusive to PlayStation players for a period of time. Bungie did not announce this content today, but said more details on this, and other things related to Rise of Iron, are coming "at a later date."
At the end of the livestream today, Bungie teased that more details may be shared at E3 2016 next week. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Rise of Iron.
Looking ahead, Bungie will release a Destiny sequel in 2017; according to a report, the game was recently rebooted.
Nick Jonas disclosed to Rolling Stone that he and Demi Lovato are entering a new phase in their lives. However, it has nothing to do with love. Nick Jonas was reacting to rumors that he had a part to play in the breakup between Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama.
After six years of togetherness, Lovato and Valderrama amicably ended their relationship recently by making a joint statement, according to an Inquisitr story.
In the public eye, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are the best of friends, and they have been for what seems to be a very long time since being in the Disney class with Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus. Nick would clarify further the real score between him and Demi by saying that they are moving from friendship to business partners.
Jonas and Lovato are co-owners of Safehouse Records, a subsidiary of Island, reports Rolling Stone.
In turn, Nick Jonas says the following.
It just makes sense to do this together. To build our careers at the same time.
In fact, the album that Nick Jonas launches today, June 10, has been produced by Island and Safehouse Records. Titled Last Year Was Complicated, the album was inspired by the Chains singers breakup with beauty queen Olivia Culpo. If so, Nick makes no mention of any Taylor Swift influence whatsoever.
As a lot of people are aware, Swift is known for composing music about her relationships and other poignant life experiences. While she is widely criticized for doing so, composing songs based on real-life experiences can be a psychologically cathartic if not therapeutic activity. According to psychoanalysts, doing this often helps a person move from the denial phase to the reality phase. If so, the individuals recovery from, say, a breakup becomes a lot easier.
However, there has been no confirmation on the side of Nick Jonas if this has been the case for him, but he has recently gone through a series of life-changing experiences other than his breakup with Olivia Culpo. Just one of these is breaking away from the Jonas Brothers, with whom he has been identified since he started his singing career.
But as the saying goes, blood is thicker than water. Nicks father just decided to open a restaurant business, and the singer has been quick to reunite with his brothers in order to help the family get the business off to a good start.
Nick Jonas also talked to Rolling Stone about how much the late Prince means to him.
Nick Jonas tells the source how he played with members of the late stars New Power Generation when he was a teenager. Nick is now 23-years-old, and apparently the experience of working with Princes band encouraged him to move more towards the soul and R&B music genres.
Hearing their stories about what an incredible performer and creative person [Prince] was, was so inspiring, said Jonas.
Last Year Was Complicated is Nick Jonas third solo album. He released the albums lead single, Close, on March 25. This was followed by Champagne Problems on April 8, Chainsaw on May 13, and Bacon on June 3. Meanwhile, Dont Make Me Choose and Under You were performed on several dates of the Nick Jonas: Live in Concert tour.
Nick Jonas will be joining Demi Lovato soon to promote his album on the Future Now tour, according to Billboard.
Making the album was not a pleasant experience, recounts Jonas.
When I first started making I thought I knew what it would be about Then I had a breakup. It then became very clear what this thing would be about And that I would need to dig really deep Reliving some of these real life experiences through this music is hard.

Justin Bieber Gets Booed At NBA Finals Game Before His Fight
Justin Bieber is now a pretty boy with a pretty respectable punch. Or is he the same punk who lunged at insolent paparazzi a few years back in London, only without as many bodyguards to hold him back?
The Love Yourself singer got into a quickanddirty brawl that was captured on video Wednesday night outside his hotel in downtown Cleveland, where he was in town to see the Cavs Game 3 win against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
A slow-mo look at the footage, which was obtained by TMZ, seems to reveal the other guy a bigger dude in a ball cap making first contact, shoving the 22-year-old on the left side of the face.
Bieber comes back swinging with a right before being wrangled to the ground by the guy, who on second glance looks even bigger than he did in the first place.
------------
FOR THE RECORD:
June, 10, 8:50 a.m.: An earlier version of this article story described two men having made contact with Bieber. Only one man was involved, first while wearing a hat and then with his hat knocked off.
------------
Bieber was wearing a Cavaliers shirt and his team had just blown out the visiting Warriors, but information out Friday seems to indicate the NBA rivalry wasn"t at issue.
Though the video doesn"t make clear exactly how the fight started, TMZ reported Friday that Lamont Richmond, the big guy involved, said he approached Bieber to ask if his two female friends could get an autograph and a photo, and was subsequently on the receiving end of rude name-calling and a bad attitude. And regarding who made contact first? Richmond said Bieber got puffed up" at him and took a swing, according to TMZ.
Bieber, of course, recently announced he is "done" taking pictures with fans. "I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity," he said on Instagram in May.
Around midday Thursday, the Biebs piped up on Instagram, posting a shirtless picture of his tattooed self making a fist and staring all dreamy-eyed into the camera, accompanied by the delicious caption, Not a scratch on this pretty boy. Alas, the photo has since been deleted.
To think, it was only a year ago that Bieber was posing, ripped, on the cover of Mens Health and discussing his then-rep as a scrapper.
Maybe thats like a cover-up for me not being tough, he told the magazine. Like the tattoos and stuff? Maybe thats like a cover for me being a softy.
A rep for Bieber did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Stephanie Meade from Seattle, Washington first wrote to Muhammad Ali when she was 10 years old. More than 30 years later, they were still corresponding. Here, she tells BBC News about how these letters changed her life.
To the world, he was an incredible athlete and humanitarian - but, to me, he was just my friend Ali.
He has been the single greatest impact on my life.
When I was 10, I wrote a letter to Muhammad Ali.
Everyone told me that he would never write back - but, three weeks from the date of my letter, I received a handwritten letter from The Champ.

It reads: "Dear Stephanie, thanks for the sweet letter, one day I hope to meet you also. Tell all my fans I said, "Hello," from me. Kiss Mother and Daddy for me and wish them my love. May Allah always bless you and guide you. Love from Muhammad Ali."
I didn"t have an ordinary childhood.
My father became disabled when I was four, and so, when most children were out playing, I was sitting at home watching TV with him.
We would watch videotapes of Ali"s fights.
By the time I was six, I could tell you details of every fight that Ali had ever appeared in.

When I went to school, my friends talked about Superman - but I always thought they were silly because I had Ali.
He was my own personal superhero.
I sent him my report cards and told him my deepest secrets.
Without fail, Muhammad Ali replied to every single letter, and I used to send him a new one at least once a month.
I would always tell him about how I really wanted to meet him, and he would always sign off his cards with: "I hope to meet you also, please tell Mummy and Daddy I said hello and G*d keep you and G*d bless you," before finishing with one of his famous boxing quotes.
This pen pal relationship continued for years until Parkinson"s robbed him of his ability to write, but I still kept sending him cards and letters.

In 1992, when I was a struggling college student, I heard that he was going to be honoured in nearby Seattle, and I realised this would finally be my chance to see him.
I turned up outside the hotel where he was staying and told some of the security guards that "Ali writes to me" and begged them to show him my letters.
The next thing I knew, I was being escorted to the seat next to Muhammad Ali, right after Ali asked Mike Tyson to vacate his seat for me.
I finally got to meet my hero.

He was just every good thing you could imagine him to be.
By that point, his speech was slurred - but it was still incredible. And it turned out that during our gap in correspondence he had moved house, but he wrote his new address down on an envelope and told me to keep writing.
I sent him a card or letter about once a month, and he would have someone type up what he wanted to say, or his wife, Lonnie, would reply on his behalf.
In 2014, he was kind enough to invite my whole family to visit him at his home, which was also very special as it meant my disabled father could finally meet his hero.
I was telling him how very much I loved him, and, although he was unable to speak, his eyes were alive and he squeezed my hand and hugged me.
Yes, Muhammad Ali loved me back. I cannot put into words what that felt like.

Lonnie asked me to keep writing, as, she said, she would read my letters to Ali, and said that she knew they made him happy.
The world has lost the greatest athlete, champion, and humanitarian. I have lost the best friend I ever had.
It"s true what he said - he was the the "Greatest of All Time". But he was an even greater man."
Stephanie will travel from her home in Seattle to Louisville to attend Muhammad Ali"s memorial.
