Baton Rouge police shooting: Officials ask residents to stay vigilant
BATON ROUGE Baton Rouge residents gathered Saturday afternoon to form the newest chapter of the New Black Panther Party.
The New Black Panthers arrived in Baton Rouge last Saturday to protest the officer-involved shooting death of 37-year-old Alton Sterling. Two videos of the shooting sparked national outcry and protests across Baton Rouge.
Jerald Justice said the group was approached by local residents like Edwin Smith to help establish a Baton Rouge chapter.
It is time for new leadership and a new organization to step forward in Baton Rouge, Smith said. I feel like the New Black Panther Party is the organization that can bring new leadership to Baton Rouge.
Founders met Saturday to formally establish the chapter as well as gather names for new members. WBRZ News 2s Earl Phelps was able to briefly attend the event on the condition that he does not reveal the meetings location.
With the help of the New Black Panther Party, these members should be able to handle any or everything in their city, Justice said.
Over the course of five days, authorities arrested 185 protesters in Baton Rouge. Friday, District Attorney Hillar Moore said that his office will not prosecute 100 protesters who were only charged with misdemeanor crimes.
Justice said that the Black Panthers were involved in the protests, but none of their members were arrested or were carrying guns during the demonstrations.
Not one official member arrested. Not one official member hurt, Justice said. Every member went home.
Lafayette is the only other city in Louisiana with an active New Black Panthers chapter. Justice says that there was also a New Orleans chapter, but it is not active now.
Another honor killing, RIP Qandeel Baloch, you will be missed!
ISLAMABAD (AP) Pakistani fashion model Qandeel Baloch, who recently stirred controversy by posting pictures of herself with a Muslim cleric on social media, was strangled to death by her brother, police said Saturday.
Her parents told police one of her six brothers strangled her to death as she slept in the family"s home in Multan, police spokeswoman Nabila Ghazanfar told The Associated Press. She said police are searching for the suspect.
Baloch, whose real name was Fauzia Azeem, was little known until recently, when she offended many conservatives by posting pictures of herself with Mufti Qavi, a prominent cleric. She said the two of them enjoyed soft drinks and cigarettes together during the daylight hours in the holy month of Ramadan, when practicing Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.
The pictures and allegations caused a scandal in conservative Pakistan, and the government removed Qavi from the official moon-sighting committee that determines when Ramadan starts and ends in accordance with the Islamic lunar calendar.
Baloch had said Qavi told her he wanted to see her face before the committee met to determine the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of Ramadan, which was observed earlier this month.
Qavi denied the allegations, saying he only met with her to discuss the teachings of Islam.
Earlier this month, Baloch sought protection from government, saying she was receiving anonymous death threats.
Hundreds of Pakistani woman are murdered by family members each year in so-called honor killings, which are seen as punishment for violating conservative norms.

In the mainline games Eevee could be evolved into its many evolutions by fulfilling conditions like using a stone or training it at a specific time. Pokemon GO which currently has only Kanto Pokemon, allows you to evolve your Eevee into Jolten, Flareon or Vaporeon.
Update:Eevee evolution has now been confirmed to be done manually using the trick mentioned in this article.
Like many other things in Pokemon GO its not clear if there are certain conditions needed to evolve Eevee into a specific evolution.
Some people say that Eevees evolutiondepends on the second attack it has resulting in an Eevee withDig evolving in Flareon, one withSwift evolving into Jolteonand finally an Eeveewith Body Slam evolvinginto Vaporeon. Personally I havent tested it out but many people say this is the case.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan Qandeel Baloch, one of Pakistans most famous and controversial social media stars, has been strangled to death in what police are calling a case of so called honor killing in the city of Multan in the countrys province of Punjab.

Azhar Akram, Multans chief police officer, told CNN that Baloch was killed by her brother in her familys home after he had protested at the kind of pictures she had been posting online.
Balochs father Muhammad Azeem reported her death to the police, her brother is currently on the run, and the case of her death is being investigated by police.
He was later arrested and confessed on a video that police showed at a news conference.
Baloch, 25, was from the Punjabi town of Kot Addu and had risen to fame due to the brazenly sassy, and increasingly political, videos that she had started posting on Facebook.
Her videos were not very different from thousands others shared by 20-something social media celebrities around the Internet she pouted like a kitten into the camera, discussed her various hairstyles and shared cooing confessions from her bedroom about her celebrity crushes.
Baloch pushed boundaries
Yet in Pakistan, her flirty antics were unusual, pushing the boundaries of whats acceptable of women in Pakistan. According to the World Economic Forums 2015 Gender Gap Report, Pakistan was second to last on the list of 145 countries with regards to gender disparity.
Baloch was both adored and reviled. Unlike more conventional Pakistani female celebrities who found fame portraying pious damsels in distress on television and film her videos were not slickly produced, her English was not flawless and she was curvaceous and self deprecating.
She had nearly 750,000 followers on Facebook, where her videos went viral but were also the subject of much debate and discomfort. In recent weeks, several of her posts encouraged her audience to challenge old practices of Pakistani society. In a July 14 post, Baloch referred to herself as a modern day feminist.
Hamna Zubair, the culture editor of Pakistani newspaper Dawn, told CNN that she had received much criticism for carrying pieces on Baloch. One commentator asked her if she would be reporting from a brothel next.
Baloch tightly controlled her narrative in the media. She shared little about her personal life and was something of an enigma; nobody really knew which city she was based in.
She found fame and slipped into the national consciousness after declaring that she would perform a live strip tease online if Pakistan won a cricket match against arch rival India.
As her media profile grew, Zubair said Baloch became aware of her power to deliver a certain message about being female in Pakistan, and that she had become a burgeoning activist for increasing womens visibility in the country.
Clergy controversy
She made more headlines after posting selfies on her Instagram account with Mufti Abdul Qavi, a senior member of the clergy. The bizarre pairing led to frenzied media coverage and resulted in Qaviss suspension from his post on one of Pakistans religious committees.
After news of Balochs death, while waiting to go on air on a local channel, Qavi told CNN that her death should be a lesson for all those who point fingers at someones honor.
Pakistani feminists had celebrated Baloch. Madiha Tahir, co-founder of the feminist magazine Tanqeed, called her a gutsy feminist provocateur who had exposed the hypocrisy of the male-dominated establishment, especially the clergy, through her social media videos.
She wasnt rich, Tahir said. She was a working class woman who dared to be exactly herself. Tahir said Qandeels death was not due to a matter of honor but due to the pervasive misogyny of Pakistani society.
Balochs brother cited the scandal as the trigger that caused him to kill her in his taped confession.
Baloch feared for her life

A couple of days ago, local media reported that Qandeel Baloch had married at 17 and left her husband about a year later. After the reports were published, she confirmed that her legal name was Fouzia Azeem and that she had been using an alias for safety reasons.
Earlier this week Baloch had stirred up more controversy by releasing a kitschy music video on YouTube called Ban, which mocked some of the restrictions that she had been subjected to.
Behind the scenes, however, things were a bit different. Hassan Choudary, digital editor at Express Tribune Life & Style, told CNN he had spoken to Baloch on the phone just two days ago, saying she was sobbing and feared for her life.
On the morning she was murdered, Qandeel had shared a picture of herself staring defiantly into the camera, wearing a pair of leopard print pants and a black tank top. She had written that she was a fighter. I will bounce back, she said, adding she wanted to inspire women who have been treated badly and dominated by society.
STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE #SWCE Trailer - Easter Eggs & Things Missed (#RogueOne)
This years Star Wars Celebration in London is in full swing, and the reveals have already started dropping. On Friday, a Rogue One panel gathered together director Gareth Edwards and the films starsincluding Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and more. (There was also a behind-the-scenes clip, which emphasizes the war-movie aspect of this upcoming installment. Its included above.)
The panel began with the floating introductory text from Star Wars: Episode IVa New Hope, but interrupted it at the end with scrambled audio and flickering visuals. Then, the Rogue One logo appeared. The discussion that followed revealed not only a few juicy details about the movie and some of its characters, but even one apparent accidental spoiler. Here are some of the highlights.
Confirmed: Darth Vader will be in the movie
Yes, it has been confirmed that the Star Wars franchise still isnt ready to let Anakin Skywalker go. Edwards confirmed Vaders appearance, and that he will be voiced by his original voice actor, James Earl Jones. Other than that, details were unsurprisingly slim.
One tiny detail to obsess over: he apparently uses the word power at one point or another in the film. Edwards recalled the moment the line was recorded, and the nerdgasm that it induced.
Two new planets and a new poster
Edwards and company also discussed two new planets that Rogue One will introduce to the Star Wars universe.
The first is Scarif, which Edwards said was based on paradise and thus was shot in the Maldives. Thats the planet pictured in the movies new poster, which does indeed look like a tropical paradisesave for the people with weapons and the looming Death Star image.
The second, Jedha, is a Mecca-like planet for those who believe in the Force. Its home to both Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus, and serves as the spiritual nexus for those who believe in the Force and support the Jedis causedespite the fact that the Jedi are known to be all but extinct. Its currently facing an Imperial blight.
Alan Tudyk is playing this movies droid.
Its not a Star Wars movie without a droid to provide some much-needed comic relief. And fans can rest easy knowing that the new movie does, indeed, feature a droid: K-2SO.
K-2SO was originally an Imperial droid, but the rebellion re-programmed him. Diego Luna, who plays Cassian Andor, said K-2SO is his characters bestif not onlyfriend. The droid is 71 and black with a human-like formand he appears to contain a similar rebellious streak to R2-D2.
Tudyk, who has already shown off a knack for imparting robotic characters with a strong dose of humanity, will play the droid.
Cassian reprogrammed him and he did, like, a data wipe. And when he re-programmed him, hes not quite all there. He speaks his mind and says things that can be unsettling, and just very honest. If you know any old people, its like that, Tudyk said.
But perhaps the best revelation about Tudyks role actually involves another Star Wars droid: C-3PO himself, Anthony Daniels, whom Tudyk met at opening night of The Force Awakens.
I said, Im K-2SO; Im gonna be the next droid, Tudyk said, and he said, Do you wear a suit, or are you C.G.I.? And I said, Oh, Im C.G.I.. And he said, You s**t. Lovely man. Were pen pals. Pen pals to this day.
More on Donnie Yen and Jiang Wens charactersand, possibly, a huge accidental spoiler.
As Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen explained their characters, Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus, a spoiler might have slipped out toward the end.
As Yen explained, Chirrut Imwe is a blind warrior who believes strongly in the Force. His good friend Baze, on the other hand, is a skeptic, but protects Chirrut and the rebels anywaykind of like Han Solo reluctantly did in A New Hope.
Although Wen initially kept things vague in discussing Baze, he might have let a huge spoiler slip about his and Chirruts fate. We wont reveal it here; you can read about it if youre so inclined.
Mads Mikkelsens character invented something very important.
As we already knew, Mikkelsen plays Jyn Ersos (Felicity Jones) father, Galen Erso. At the panel, Mikkelsen gave us one more tidbit to chew on:
My character is a person of interest, he said, adding, Hes a scientist, and he at one point invented something so beautiful, so fantastic, that it might change the universe.
Well, its a good thing weve got a few months to speculate about what that might be.
Riz Ahmeds Bodhi Rook is actually an Empire employee.
From the trailers, it would seem Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed) is a rebelbut at the beginning, at least, thats not the case. Ahmed revealed that his character, a pilot, actually works for the Empire initially.
People work at big organizations, they dont agree with everything they do. You dont have to be judgy, Ahmed joked. Hes kind of questioning things, and the city hes from is actually an occupied planet.
Its that last detail that Ahmed said makes his character question his career choices.
Fun fact: the Maldivian army played some of the movies Stormtroopers
One more very amusing detail to finish off with: when the crew was shooting in the Maldives, the countrys army apparently donned Stormtrooper suits themselves.

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan KenobiIf some of the voices during Reys flashback sequence sounded familiar to you, theres good reasons. As Rey touches Lukes lightsaber shes bombarded with images of Luke and R2D2, Kylo and the Knights of Ren, and herself as a young child. In the background, J.J. Abrams reveals, you can also hear a snippet of Mark Hamill screaming Noooo from Empire, a little bit of Frank Ozs Yoda and, chillingly, the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi saying, Rey . . . these are your first steps. Its not Alec Guinness come back from the dead to record a new line of dialogue, thats young Ben as voiced by Ewan McGregor. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly, We asked Ewan McGregor to come in and do the line. And he was awesome and we were very grateful. He was incredibly sweet and handsome, and all that stuff. Then he rode off on his motorcycle. Literally the coolest voice over actor ever. Kevin Smith and Abrams himself also lent their voices to The Force Awakens. Billie Lourd as Lieutenant ConnixMany wondered if Lourds ever-present earmuffs in Scream Queens were an homage to her famous mothers famous buns in Star Wars. But Abrams did Ryan Murphy one better and gave Lourd a diminutive version of her mothers hairstyle for her brief appearance as a Resistance fighter. Abrams also cast his dad, Gerry Abrams, as Captain Cypress and his assistant, Morgan Dameron (no relation), as a Resistance officer named Commodore Meta. Dame Harriet Walterniece of legendary actor and Count Dooku portrayer Christopher Leeappears as Dr. Kalonia who patches Chewie up. Jessica Henwick as Jess Testor
Even the most devoted Game of Thrones fan could have easily missed Henwick. Unlike many other Resistance pilots, she never appears outside the cockpit of her X-Wing fighter or without that bulky helmet. But she was there helping Poe Dameron on every maneuver.
Bill Hader as BB-8Everyones favorite droid (sorry, R2!) was voiced by Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz of House of Lies and Parks and Recreation fame. Initially, Hader says, he tried giving the little ball an actual human voice, but it sounded too strange. This may not be the last we hear of the versatile Hader in Star Wars. The SNL alum has demonstrated a wicked imitation of both Jabba the Hutt and a dying Tauntaun so were pretty sure he could handle anything Lucasfilm might throw his way. The Cast of The Raid as KanjiklubIndonesian actors and stunt fighters Yayan Ruhian, Iko Uwais, and Cecep Arif Rahman appear as Tasu Leech, Razoo Qin-Fee and Crokind Shand, members of Kanjiklub Gang. Many had hoped that the expert martial artists would be able to show off their fighting prowess but the Kanjiklub gets dispatched pretty quickly by one of the Rathtars on Han Solos ship. However, given that Tasu Leech has his own Lego figurine, its possible we havent seen the last of Kanjiklub. Or did you forget that there were several prequel films on the way? Simon Pegg as Unkar Plutt
Peggs role is much bigger than a cameo but hidden under all that padding, latex, and CG you might have missed him as Jakku junkyard dealer, temporary Millennium Falcon owner, and Rey antagonizer Unkar Plutt. It seems like Peggs voice was also modulated down to a low, John Rhys-Davies-esque timbre to further obscure his identity.
Daniel Craig as a Stormtrooper
News broke Friday that, as Simon Pegg revealed earlier this year, Daniel Craig did indeed play a Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens. And not just any Stormtrooper! Craigs character is the one who Rey convinces to remove her restraints and leave the door open. Thats right, James Bond got Jedi mind tricked by scavenger scum. Craig wasnt the only high-profile face under one of those glossy white helmets. JJ Abrams gave two of his friends roles as Stormtroopers: Alias and Lost composer Michael Giacchino, and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich play Stormtroopers FN-3181 and FN-9330, respectively.
Greg Grunberg as Snap WexleyOdds are you didnt miss Grunberg; he was the most identifiable Resistance pilot outside Poe Dameron and Nien Nunb. (He even has his own action figure!) But you may not know the extent of his history with J.J. Abrams which stretches all the way back to childhood. Grunberg has had roles in most Abrams projects including Felicity, Alias, Lost, Heroes, and Mission: Impossible III. Speaking of Lost, Ken Leung who many will remember as series regular Miles Straume showed up as Resistance leader Admiral Statura. Right, by Alberto E. Its not just Max Von Sydow, Jessica Henwick, Gwendoline Christie, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster representing Westeros in The Force Awakens. Since Star Wars and Game of Thrones share the same casting director, Nina Gold, theres plenty more cross-over. Mark Stanley who played Jon Snows doomed friend Grenn is credited as a Clan Leader in other words one of the rain-drenched Knights of Ren. Miltos Yerolemou who played Aryas doomed fencing master, Syrio Forel, is a patron in Maz Kanatas bar and Emun Elliott who played doomed (so much doom) singer Marillion is one of the Resistance fighters with just one line: A laser cannon?
Warwick Davis as WollivanWarwick Daviswho played Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi and had a few roles in The Phantom Menaceplays someone named Wollivan. According to Entertainment Weekly he appears in Maz Kanatas tavern and has a short, pink snout and puckered eyes. In other words, you can see him front and slightly left of center in this Vanity Fair portrait. Judah Friedlander of 30 Rock fame also a has Bar Patron credit.

Stranger Things is likely to be the next big Netflix Originals series that all of your friends are talking about. Winona Ryder is the most recognizable name in the series, which finally became available to stream on-demand this weekend, along with a few other goodies from Netflix. While Netflix opened the flood gates for new content at the beginning of the month with movies that included the Back to the Future and Lethal Weapon franchises and several new Netflix Original series the on-demand streaming service has additional offerings to unleash this weekend.
What follows is a quick look at the content Netflix is unleashing during the weekend that marks the half-way point of July. On top of Stranger Things, the fist season of Magi: The Adventures of Sinbad can now be streamed via Netflix, as can new seasons from The Adventure of Puss in Boots and Todd Margaret (starring David Cross).

New films being added include Fighting (Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard), Gridlocked (Dominic Purcell, Cody Hackman), Holidays (with Kevin Smith as a contributing director), and Rebirth, another Netflix Original.
Netflix Original Series: Stranger Things
Whether you were raised on The Bad News Bears, Goonies, or The Sandlot, theres likely a movie you loved when you were a kid that involved a group of socially-awkward youths getting in way over their heads and somehow pulling things together and winning the day in comical fashion. Now that youre an adult, Stranger Things takes those same kinds of kids and adds some X-Files-worthy sci-fi, a touch of The NeverEnding Storys fantasy and a healthy dose of Stephen Kings horror and thrill. Without revealing any significant spoilers, Winona Ryders child goes mysteriously missing after a rousing game of Dungeons and Dragons, and the new Sheriff in town gets very suspicious of a secret government program being housed in his small communitys forest. As Fangoria noted, Stranger Things is a story evocative of Stephen King and 80s supernatural thriller pulp novels that balances brilliant character work and gripping genre storytelling effortlessly.
Ghostbusters Superfans Documentary
Obviously released on Netflix to coincide with the theatrical release of the highly-anticipated Ghostbusters film, this documentary is about the most hardcore fans of all things Ghostbusters and how some of them become heroes on their own time. If you need help spotting all of the Easter eggs, cameos, and other geek-heavy shout outs packed into the new Ghostbusters film, any one of the subjects from Ghostheads would be a perfect person to help you find them. The following was noted by a self-professed super-fan from the Ghostbusters Fans website.
The movie is not without a dark side, however. Ghostheads aims to show several different sides of the Ghostbusters fan community. We see how our fellow fans live, and the difficulties that some live with every day. Tony Robbins: Rated TV-MA
Everybody knows who Tony Robbins is. If the name sounds familiar but you just cant picture him, the moment you see Tony Robbins, the recognition is instant. But if you havent bought into his self-help books and seminars, you may know little more about Tony Robbins than what you might see in a film like Shallow Hal. Unfortunately, as noted by the Indie Wire website, I Am Not Your Guru isnt necessarily an unbiased look at Tony Robbins.
By existing entirely within the confines of the world hes created, the movie actively resists any possible skepticism about his unique skill. For the most part, Berlingers camera just watches in awe alongside everyone else.
The documentary gives viewers a sneak-peak at the $5,000 seminars hosted by Tony Robbins, including a look at the guru backstage during his seminars and a brief conversation about the abuse he suffered as a child.

Of course, Netflix is the source of eternal streaming content, so there are more titles that will be available to stream between now and July 31.
