Justin Bieber and More Perform the "Billionaire Strut"

UFC 205: Conor McGregor Octagon Interview

Returning to the Octagon at #UFC202 to avenge his sole loss in the promotion at the hands of #NateDiaz, Conor McGregor strutted into the Octagon a la #VinceMcMahon. Made famous in the #WWE through the sporting mogul"s cocky Power Walk entrance, the Irishman has adopted the act for himself. Newly dubbed the Billionaire Strut," the walk has become an iconic staple in Mystic Macs Octagon entrances.

However, UFC 202 wasnt the first time weve seen Conor McGregor perform the boastful strut. Its long been in his arsenal.

Vince McMahon is a figure McGregor has previously praised and held a lot of respect for, so its no surprise that the Irishman would seek to replicate him, especially with his business acumen.

With Conor McGregor now a global star, the act has gone viral. Oscar Wilde once said imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so lets take a look at some of the celebs who have performed their own version of the Billionaire Strut.

Shaquille ONeal

NBA legend, Shaquille ONeal got in on the action during #NBA on TNT, strutting towards the camera while citing his Irish heritage.

Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol of the #MemphisGrizzlies busted out the walk following his game-winning 3-pointer against the #LAClippers.

Pat McAfee

The Colts kicker strutted down the field after a perfect punt.

Kiko Alonso

#MiamiDolphins linebacker, #KikoAlonso went as far as posting a side by side comparison of his tribute to the Irish star.

Women face equality struggles in Clemson engineering programs

Clemson vs. Wake Forest Football Highlights (2016)

Women who aspire to be engineers have to deal with a mens club in university classes, labs and workplaces.

During my three years at Clemson, I have had five women professors, said Crystal Pee, a junior from Myrtle Beach studying chemical engineering and business administration. In my engineering classes, I have only had two women professors; therefore, 10 percent of my classes have had a woman professor.

Women claimed just 26 percent of all engineering degrees awarded in 2013 and 30 percent of all STEM graduates in the United States, according to the advocacy group Women in Science and Engineering. They make up just 19 percent of Clemsons engineering faculty, and account for only 35 percent of all faculty throughout the university.

The numbers arent any better for Clemson students. Pee said her engineering classes are approximately 70 percent men and 30 percent women.

Women have to contend with issues that their male peers don"t, like the relative lack of female mentors and occasionally chauvinist or sexist behavior directed at them. And those things come on top of the heavy course loads, lab time and other school and societal pressures shouldered by all students, regardless of gender.

These discrepancies aren"t at all unique to Clemson or Upstate workplaces, and none of the women interviewed claimed any kind of institutional insensitivity or discrimination from Clemson officials. In fact, the university just landed a $3.4 million National Science Foundation grant to look at ways to promote inclusion in science, technology, engineering and math studies, internships and employment.

Achieving that inclusion will require addressing the pressures unique to women students and professionals in engineering fields. They report being expected to do clerical work that is not expected of men. They dread having their concerns discounted when they complain about occasionally thoughtless male behavior (dirty jokes, dismissive responses from supervisors, leering, sexual advances, etc.), and many feel isolated in lecture halls, labs and workplaces filled overwhelmingly with men.

There should be constructive ways to resolve these problems, both at Clemson and throughout the STEM world, said Kayla Wilson, a Ph.D candidate who works with bioengineering professor Delphine Dean.

Youre ... too sensitive if you speak up or try to defend yourself, said Wilson. You should be able to say, Thats inappropriate, but in my experience, (men) get incredibly defensive and try to turn it back on you or they just ignore it.

There are also lingering, long-held societal notions that complicate female progress in the engineering world, on campus and off. Casey Young, a junior studying bioengineering, dates an engineer who is already in the working world. That has led a few acquaintances to ask if she was giving up her studies.

The Mrs. degree needs to die, said Young, who hails from St. Leonard, Maryland. Ive had people say that Im only doing engineering to find a husband. A friend asked me if I was going to switch to something easier now that Ive got my engineer.

Young and Wilson both received encouragement early on from family members. Youngs parents are engineers. The men in Wilsons family often sought her help with home and auto repairs, which gave her experience handling tools and grappling with mechanical issues.

Not all women get that kind of support. Nardine Ghobrial grew up in Greenville after she and her parents emigrated from Egypt. The senior bioengineering major said Egyptian girls are nudged by parents to seek medical degrees, rather than study math, physics and other engineering related subjects.

You have to be told from a young age that you can do it, said Ghobrial, who half-jokingly added, I think I might be the only female engineering student from an Egyptian family in South Carolina.

"I was not given the same toys as my brother," Ghobrial continued. "My parents always expected him to be an engineer, but I was always better at math and science than him. Theyre not against engineering in general; theyre just against it for me.

Dean got her Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005 in electrical engineering and computer science, and joined Clemsons faculty in 2007. She oversees several research initiatives, including partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa to develop cheap technology that addresses the daily maintenance needs of diabetics.

I dont feel like my mentors and supervisors treated me any differently, Dean said of her time as a student. In your first few classes as an undergrad, you definitely feel it. After a while, I think you get used to being the only girl in class and the guys get used to having a girl in class.

Electrical engineer Melissa McCullough oversees lab work and other duties for Dean. She took a different path to Clemson than the professor, having learned her trade in the Navy, some classes at Old Dominion University and working for defense contractors.

I love my job, which is why I keep doing it, said McCullough. I took a big pay cut to work here at Clemson and get into research here, just to have this opportunity.

McCullough said Clemsons bioengineering program is first rate, and credits Dean with being a good boss and mentor. She said there has been progress generally in the last several years for women in engineering, but she sees plenty of room for improvement.

Im 38 years old and I am still asked to take the notes at meetings, said McCullough. I think weve got to go back and start from the beginning when were bringing up boys, and we have to focus on the young white guys.

Having said that, McCullough said crass behavior by men isnt as common in todays labs and offices as it was when she entered the workforce.

The sexism isnt tolerated like it used to be, McCullough said. But it is going to keep happening; its a generational thing.

McCullough made one thing clear: Shes not giving up her career because some guys dont treat her like a peer.

No way, man, I love my job, said McCullough.

How UCLA and Colorado football reversed roles in the Pac-12

Highlights: No. 10 Colorado football downs No. 22 Washington State in critical Pac-12 matchup

This wasnt how this game was supposed to look.

Colorado, the perennial Pac-12 cellar-dweller, is at the top of the Pac-12 South. UCLA, the preseason favorite to be in that position, is in fifth. The Buffaloes (6-2, 4-1 Pac-12) are enjoying their best season since 2005. The Bruins are in their worst since 2010.

So whats behind Colorados sudden surge?

You just get tired of losing, UCLA offensive coordinator Kennedy Polamalu said.

UCLA, losers of three straight, could use some of that same energy Thursday at 6 p.m. in Folsom Field when the Bruins face the resurgent Buffaloes.

When the Bruins have the ball

On Monday, head coach Jim Mora rattled off names of the six UCLA players who declared for the NFL draft last spring with eligibility left: Caleb Benenoch, Alex Redmond, Paul Perkins, Thomas Duarte, Kenny Clark, Myles Jack. UCLA paid a price for their early success.

Now the Bruins are feeling an overdraft on their account, especially on offense, where four of those six players made their impacts.

It would sure be nice to have a bunch of seniors playing, but thats just not that case, Mora said.

Only four seniors have started a game for the Bruins on offense this season: left tackle Conor McDermott, tight end Nate Iese, receiver Ishmael Adams and quarterback Mike Fafaul. McDermott and Adams were the only ones who had significant playing time previously, but Adams is still in his first year on offense after playing defensive back for four years.

As UCLAs young offense has struggled, Colorados experienced defense has been strong this season. The Pac-12s leaders in fewest yards allowed per game, the Buffaloes returned nine starters on defense (and nine on offense). Colorado entered the year as the most experienced team in the conference and its paying off in the teams success.

Those guys have played a lot of football, Polamalu said. Even though they havent had the success that they would like, they have played a lot of football and the best way you can get (better) in football is to play football. Experience in playing the game of football when you have continuity together, it ends up turning for you.

The Colorado defense is led by its secondary, which leads the conference in pass defense efficiency. Senior defensive back Chidobe Awuzie is an All-American candidate with a versatile skill set capable of fitting in at corner, safety or nickel. Safety Tedric Thompson, also a senior, has a team-leading four interceptions, which is tied for the most in a single season for a CU player in the past nine years.

When the Buffaloes have the ball

One word sums of Colorados two-headed offensive attack.

Balanced, defensive coordinator Tom Bradley said. Balanced, balanced.

The Buffaloes are third in the Pac-12 in total offense (495.8 yards per game) with significant improvement in the running game from a year ago that complements quarterback Sefo Liufau. Colorado averages 216.5 rushing yards per game this season compared to 156.2 a year ago.

Phillip Lindsay has nine rushing touchdowns and is third in the conference with 93.1 rushing yards per game.

In the passing game, the Buffaloes have Liufau, a four-year starter, and a host of receiving threats. Colorado is one of only three teams in the conference to have multiple receivers in the top 12 for receiving yards per game as Shay Fields, a St. John Bosco product, is third (70.4) and Devin Ross is ninth (61.4). Bryce Bobo is not far behind with 61 yards per game.

The UCLA defense is coming off its worst performance of the year after getting gashed for 360 rushing yards against Utah. Utah running back Joe Williams ran for 332 yards, a record for a UCLA opponent. Despite facing another talented offense this week, the Bruins are sure they can put the last games struggles in the past.

Play UCLA standard football and no doubt that well win the game, linebacker Kenny Young said.
