Ted Cruz: GOP Presidential Candidate Removes Ad With Actress Amy Lindsay Featured in Porn Films
Texas Senator Ted Cruz has pulled a political ad after learning the actress in it was a softcore p**n star.
The Republican presidential candidate targeted rival Sen. Marco Rubio in the 30-second spot, titled "Conservatives Anonymous." Amy Lindsay plays a GOP voter in a support group, telling others to "vote for more than just a pretty face next time."
The commercial ends with Cruz appearing, saying he approves of the message. His campaign later said they didn"t know about the actress" filmography.
Lindsay, who describes herself as a Christian conservative and Republican herself, has more than 70 film and TV credits, including an episode of "Star Trek: Voyager." The more salacious titles include "Celebrity s*x Tape," "Black Tie Nights," "Milf," "Erotic Confessions" and "Forbidden Sins."
"The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job," a spokesman for Cruz"s campaign said. "Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad."
"Extremely disappointed the #TedCruz campaign pulled the national television spot I had a role in," she responded on Twitter, along with the hashtag #myvotecounts. In other recent tweets, she shared a photo of herself with adult film star Ron Jeremy.
On Friday, Cruz moved forward with a new political ad that spoofs the 1999 comedy "Office Space." The clip features a Hillary Clinton lookalike and a rap song that says "d**n it feels good to be a Clinton," parodying a scene where Ron Livingston beats up a computer printer with two co-workers.
According to The Hill, the spot mocks the Democratic candidate over her use of a personal email server while she was Secretary of State.
