Konrad Reuland, former Ravens player, dies of aneurysm at 29

Tight Ends: Top Plays and Tacos

Konrad Reuland, who formerly played for the Baltimore Ravens and three other NFL teams, died Monday, two weeks after suffering a brain aneurysm, at his home in California.

Ravens Coach John Harbaugh announced the death of the 29-year-old tight end Monday night after Baltimores loss to the New England Patriots.

We lost a Raven today, Konrad Reuland, Harbaugh said. He was declared brain dead; he had an aneurysm about a week ago, underwent surgery and has been fighting for his life for about the last week. He passed today. [I] just want to offer condolences to his family. We love Konrad Reuland. Every single guy in that locker room loves him.

Harbaugh then read a Psalm and added, Thats for Konrad.

Harbaugh was a little off on his timeline. Reuland had suffered the aneurysm on Nov. 28 and underwent surgery the following day. He played in four games for the Ravens last season, starting in one, and spent portions of the 2014 and 2015 seasons on the teams practice squad and active roster. He also played for the Colts, 49ers and Jets.

Reuland waswaived seven times after entering the NFL in 2012; the Ravens, signed him six times and cut him four times over a 14-month span. Most recently, he was cut by the Colts on Aug. 29.

A crazy life, Reuland told the Indianapolis Starlast summer.Ive had injuries at the wrong time.Ive been cut at the end of camp.Ive made the team atthe end of camp. You just never know.

Reuland played at Notre Dame for two seasons, then transferred to Stanford, where he finished his college career.
